Chapter 8: Cursed Island

"So Bobo-san right?" Shio said to the owner of the boat they were on.

"Yes, my name is Bobo and I used to live on Galuna Island." He kept rowing as the island came into sight. It was giving off a purple glow and for some reason Shio felt stimulated by it. "You two are the sun and the moon. In essence that is the source of worship for the Sea and Fire devils. Just as the sun controls the heat and the moon controls the waves."

Words of his father rang through his head as Lucy entered the conversation. "Wait! You mean-n-n"

"That's right I have been inflicted with the curse." He took off his cloak revealing his left arm. Shio narrowed his eyes at the arm as the others were surprised. He then met Shio's gaze. "Are you sure you can break the curse."

"Mah, who do you think I am?!" Shio said with a happy grin as Natsu gave the same grin.

"That's right! Ossan!" Natsu yelled as the man nodded stoically. Suddenly a powerful wind appeared making everyone cover their eyes. Shio on the other hand was not affected, when the wind disappeared the man had as well, Lisanna looked over the side of the boat.

"He disappeared!" Then everyone looked to Gray as he panicked and pointed at something. As everyone turned their heads they saw a huge wave.

"SHIT!" Natsu yelled as Lucy grabbed his arm. Happy flew inside Natsu's jacket. As the wave was about to collide with their ship, Shio brought his hands together as an invisible shockwave echoed throughout the area.

The sea calmed as the large wave suddenly dispersed, Lucy and the others watched in amazement as Shio stood up. He gave the four of them well, five if you include Happy a grin.

"Well Wasn't that fun."

"Scary!" Lucy yelled.

"That was damn amazing Shio." Gray said as he surveyed the waters. Natsu once again was moaning as the healing magic had worn off.

"hjdfsd." Natsu said as no one could understand him.

"Poor Natsu." Lisanna said.

"Anyhow, onwards!" Shio yelled as a giant wave lifted them up and speeded them towards the island.

(5 minutes later)

"LAND!" Natsu yelled as he got on the beach.

"Slow down, Natsu!" Lucy yelled in frustration.

"I love you land!" He said as he began kissing the ground.

"Oi, match stick let's get going." Gray said in an offhand matter as Natsu immediatly got up.

"What was that you popsicle?" Suddenly Shio appeared between them and kept them apart.

"Mah, mah! We got a job to do." He said as they two gave a 'hmphed'. Shio then looked around and saw a road covered by palm trees. He suddenly had a flashback of his childhood.

A four year old Shio was running around excitedly along a sunny path. His father and his brother Ryu were slowly taking their pace and keeping an eye on him.

"Have I been here before?" Shio said as the wind blew making his blue cloak flutter in the wind.

"Shio!" He heard four voices and looked over to the young mages calling for him. They were already on the road with multiple palm trees.

"What's taking you so long Shio-nii!" Lisanna said as Shio gave them his grin.

"Nothing at all guys!" He said in a sonic boom and appeared next to them. "Now then! Let us get going!"

In a cheerful mood, Shio began to walk down the road followed by the four mages. As he walked by he saw tombstones written in the devil language. HIs suspicions about being here before were confirmed when the group came across a huge wooden gate.

"Who's there!" Shio looked up to see cloaked figures.

"Yo! We are mages from Fairy Tail!" Shio said.

"Show us your guild marks!" One of the guards said as Shio rose his right hand. Lucy and Natsu did as well as Gray and Lisanna.

"Oh shit! They're the real deal!" The guard said as he and the other turned around. "Open the gates!"

"Well that was odd." Shio looked on as the gate rose up.

"It looks like were entering the mouth of a giant monster." Happy said.

"Dont say weird things." Lucy replied in a whisper.

When the gate fully opened they were confronted by the villagers wearing cloaks. A short man in a cloak walked up to them and was carrying a moon staff.

"Thank you for coming. I am Moka the chief of this village" He said in a sad tone. "Before anything else we must show you something."

"Everyone!" He said as the mages looked ahead to see people take off their cloaks. Lucy gasped when she saw more people inflicted with the curse. Lisanna covered her mouth with her hand while Natsu and Gray were in shock.

"Just like the man on the boat." Gray said.

"Such incredible sideburns!" Natsu said to the village chief as Shio slammed a fist into his head knocking him down.

"That wasn't really what I wanted to show him…." Moka said.

"Sorry about this one." Shio said with a smile as he picked Natsu up. "Anyways go on with what you were saying."

"Well, every living creature on this island is affected by the curse. Bears, dogs, birds are no exception." He said sadly as the mages felt the depressing atmosphere.

"Hey Shio." Gray said.

"What is it?"

"What if this isn't a curse? Do you think you could heal them? I mean It could be a new epidemic." Gray said as Moka who heard the conversation intervened.

"We have consulted with multiple doctors already. All of them have concluded that there is no known disease like this one. We believe that the curse is caused by the evil moon spell."

"Moon spell? Lisanna said in wonder.

"This place has been absorbing moonlight since ancient times. This has caused the island to shine just like the moon." Moka said as he stared at the ground and continued. "However these past few years the moonlight has become violet."

"Now that you think about it. The moon really is violet." Natsu said as everyone noticed a bump on his head. The clouds moved away as the moon suddenly appeared revealing a violet light.

"T-t-that is the curse of the moon!" Moka said as he and the other villagers started screaming in pain. They also began to transform and turn into demons.

"They are transforming!" Lucy yelled as Happy hid behind her.

"What on earth." Natsu said in shock.

"I...I apologize for shocking you all with this appearance." He said as everyone looked at the new forms of the villagers.

"My head." Shio said as he used his trident to balance himself. He began to feel dizzy and almost fell over until Lisanna caught him.

"Shio-nii are you alright!" Lisanna said as the villagers and crew turned towards them.

"M-y-y my head hurts." When he regained his composure he looked over to them. Everyone in front of him widened their eyes as he rose an eye brow. "What's wrong?" He asked as Lucy rummage through her bag and took out a mirror and showed it to Shio.

"What the fuck!?" Shio saw that his eyes had become slitted and the blue was more violent. He also had weird blue markings all over his body and two horns portruding from his head. He opened his mouth to see that his canines had become sharper and larger.

"What in the world is going on." Gray said.

"Shio-nii are you alright?" Lisanna said as Shio nodded.

"This…" Everyone turned to Natsu. "This is so cool!" He said as everyone became quiet with shock.

"What?" Everyone said.

"I want horns and thorns jsut like you guys!"

"Cool huh?" One of the villagers said.

"This is the first time I've heard anyone say it like that."

"Natsu!" Lucy said as she walked over to him. "You know being changed into these forms are troublesome for everyone! Look it even affected Shio!"

"Huh?" Natsu said as they looked over at Shio who had stars in his eyes.

"Damn I look pretty cool!" He said as everyone face faulted. Moka then stood up and walked over to Shio.

"Young man although you do not transform like us. Why do you have such a form?"

"Well it might do with the fact that I'm a Devilslayer." Shio said as the chief widened his eyes.

"Y-you aren't going to kill us are you?" Moka asked in fear as Shio looked over to him with a toothy grin.

"Nope, you are good people so why would I do that?" Shio said as Moka gave a sigh of relief.

"Now then back to our other conversation, every time the violet moon rises we change into these forms. If this sin't a curse what else could you call it?!" Moka said as Natsu and Shio were filled with resolve.

"Most of us end up turning back when morning comes, but some of us can't and end up losing their souls. We have….dispatched those who have lost their sanity." Moka said as Natsu stepped forward.

"Isn't their another way?! Why didn't you just lock them up?" Natsu said as Shio rose a hand to silence him. Shio, was staring at the ground, but then slowly rose his head and when everyone saw his face he looked exactly like Ryu.

"We tried that! We….we had no choice. They would've gone to kill the rest of us." Tears began pouring out of the chiefs eyes. "I had to even kill my own son."

"I understand, Chief." Shio said as Natsu they became shocked that he would accept this.

"Shio-nii!" Lisanna yelled as he shook his head.

"Nii-san and me quickly learned that not everyone can be saved." Shio said solemnly as his blue cloak fluttered in the wind. "In life you sometimes must make decisions like this. Sacrificing a small amount so that others can live is a law of this world."

"No!" Natsu yelled as Shio looked over to him. "I'll save everyone!"

"Natsu I envy you and the people of Fairy Tail." Shio said as he rose his hand and reached for the sky. "That innocence you hold makes you ignorant to this world."

"You are part of our guild too, Shio-nii! We live for our friends not die for them!" Lisanna said as Shio smiled.

"When me and Nii-san were fifteen we had to choose between sacrificing a hundred children or destroying a city with thousands of people. This was work we had done in the magic council." Shio brought up his blue eyes and looked over at a shocked Natsu. "To save one means not to save another, Natsu."

"Then what did you guys do?" Lucy asked as if afraid to answer.

"We let the hundred children die." Shio said as he turned away towards Moka. "Please show us where we will be staying." he said as Moka nodded.

"Come on! Show our guest where they will be staying!"

"Village Chief." Shio said as Moka turned to him. "Let us speak in private."

"Very well follow me."

"Shio-nii!" Natsu said as Shio turned to him. He noticed Natsu curl his fist into balls. "I…..I know that nothing in this world is that perfect, but I'll try my best! Even If I can't sace everyone I'll try my best!"

"You understand now Natsu." Shio said with his signature grin that Natsu returned.

(Ryu and Erza)

Ryu and Erza stood in front of a cherry blossom tree. The wind fluttered as Ryu's red cloak drifted in the wind.

"Is this were Oji-sama is buried?" She asked as Ryu nodded. She watched as Ryu knelt down and laid out a scroll. Poof! An expensive looking liquor bottle and three cups appeared.

"Sit down with me." Ryu said quietly as Erza nodded and did as he asked. "Chichiue loved to drink." He said as he poured liquor into the cups and placed one on a small mound under the tree.

"There is a beach nearby with a legend."

"Oh? What is this legend?" Erza asked.

"If you place a piece of paper with your greatest wish, in a bottle and let it go through the horizon of the sea. It will one day come to fruition."

"Did you and Shio try this when you were yonger?" She asked as he nodded.

"Shio wished to have met our mother." Ryu said as Erza gave him a sad look. She then rose her hand and placed it on his.

"And what about you?" Her eyes stayed on Ryu who turned to meet hers.

"I wished for you to stay safe." He said as she blushed. She stared at the ground as she felt his hand touch her face.

"I...did you think about me at all since you left?" She asked as he cupped her cheek and moved in closer. Blushing madly she watched as he closed in.

"I thought of you a lot and wondered if you were alright." Ryu said as he stared into her eyes.

"You'll always save me right?" A coice said as Ryu pulled back much to Erza's disappointment.

"Heh, I almost forgot we are here to give respects to Chichiue." Ryu said as Erza became embarassed. "Is there anything that you had wished to say to Chichiue?"

"Yes, there was." She then turned to the mound. "Oji-sama, you gave me everything I needed to start my new life in Fairy Tail. You also gave me the eye that I had lost and I thank you for it."

Ryu watched as tears fell from Erza's eyes. "I thank you for being the father I never had even though it was short." Ryu watched as a bouquet of flowers appeared in her hands and she placed it on the mound.

(Shio and the others)

After Shio and the others had settled down and rested, he decided to call Mirajane. He forgot to call her last night due to all the complications. Shio watched as the line beeped for about three second.

"Shio-kun!"

"Yo, Mira-chan!" He said in his full devil glory as she looked at him oddly.

"Are you cosplaying?" She said as he scratched the back of his head. After a brief explanation she gave him a long stare.

"Are you sure you're okay?" She asked.

"Yeah other than the occasional crave for human flesh I'm fine." He said jokingly as he gave him a mock glare.

"So where are the others?"

"I'm roomed with the guys and their showering. Lisanna and Lucy should still be in their room wanna talk to them?" He asked as she nodded as he walked out his door and knocked on the one across the hall.

"Who is it!" Lisanna said.

"Yo! It's me Shio, your Nee-chan want's to talk to you." She opened the door as he handed her the Lacrima. "Meet me outside after you guys are done we have to explore the island."

(Outside)

Shio stared at the sun as he could feel himself become normal once again. He could sense it as well. "There is a high class demon on this island." His mind moved around the island as he met with the mind of the demon.

"ROAR!" Deliora roared as in its mindscape it saw Shio.

"Oh, the Demon of destruction how are you doing." Shio said in a joking manner.

"DEVIL! When I am freed from this ice prison I will kill you and everything else!" Shio remembered hearing about an ice mage sealing away Deliora.

"Mah, so that's whats going on here." Shio said as he left the demon alone. He heard footsteps and turned around to see the four mages..

"I found out what is going on." Shio said as the others listened intently. "Someone is trying to revive the Demon of destruction, Deliora." He noticed as Gray twitched from the information.

"Gray if you know something then tell us." Shio said as Gray curled his fist.

"My mentor Ur was the one who sealed it away." Gray looked up at Shio. "That monster killed my family and took my mentor from me."

"I guess you could blame us for that." Shio said as Gray looked at him in confusion.

"Why would I blame you and Ryu-san?"

"I'm going to tell you guys something right now. Me and Nii-san are not fully human." He said as they were shocked. "Our father was a devil and I am a half devil. Tou-chan was hunting down Deliora, but everytime he almost killed him, he got away."

"Shio-nii, is this why you took this form?" Lisanna said as he nodded.

"I'm going to finish what Tou-chan started." Shio then looked over at Gray. "Don't do anything stupid Gray."

"Hai(yes)…." He replied.

"Alright then lets get going."

(20 mintues later)

"Apparently they want us to destroy the moon." Shio said as Lisanna was walking by his side.

"But that is impossible right?"

"Yep, and destroying it would be a bad idea too. The sea would go berserk without it." Shio said as he turned back to see Natsu and Gray conversing normally for once…...and Lucy inside her clock spirit.

"If we destroyed the moon there wouldn't be anymore Fairy Tail moon viewing steak!" Natsu said loudly as Shio almost facepalmed.

"You guys are idiots." Horologium said for Lucy.

"I wonder if there are stellar spirit laws." Shio said as they walked forward. They stopped as they heard stomping and looked up to see what appeared to be a giant rat monster.

"Holy shit what is that!" Natsu yelled.

"Its huge!" Lisanna yelled as it was suddenly blown away by silver water. They looked over at Shio and sweatdropped.

"Well that's one way of dealing with it." Gray said as they followed Shio to a temple with the moon on it.

"I am sure that I've been here before." Shio thought to himself as they entered the temple.

(Inside Temple)

"Wow it's huge." Lucy said as Lisanna nodded.

"I wonder what Era it's from." She said.

"It's from the time of gods and devils." Shio said as they looked over at him. "I've been here before with my Tou-chan and Nii-san."

"Really-" Gray was cut off as the ground underneath them crumbled. Happy caught himself as Shio began to use Sound Ceremony. He caught all of the members and landed softly on the floor.

"Well then wasn't that fun." Shio said as everyone got up.

"Cool! There's a secret cave down here! Let's go and explore!" Natsu yelled as he ran off with the others following. As they did they came across Deliora frozen in solid ice.

"So, it is true." Gray said as he looked up at the monster.

"Hide right now!" Shio said as they all followed him behind a boulder.

"Hey did you hear any voices Tobi?" Yuka said as Tobi shook his head.

"It's midday so I'm getting sleepy." He said as Tobi growled.

"Yuka-san, Tobi-san I have bad news." A pink haired girl said.

"What's wrong Sherry?" Yuka asked.

"Angelica was beaten up by someone. Apparently one attack only." She said as Yuka held his chin in thought.

"Intruders? Let us go. We have to tell Reitei-sama of this." Yuka said as they left in a hurry. Shio and the others stepped out of the boulder and inspected the demon.

"This ice can not melt. My mentor, Ur used Iced Shell. It is a an ice that can never be melted." Gray said.

"If that is so then why is it here?" Lisanna asked as she looked over at Shio for an answer.

"The moon here at this exact time. Has the power to undo any spell no matter how strong it is." Shio said as Gray ran over to him.

"Are you serious?!" Gray said as Shio nodded. The ground suddenly shook as a purple magic seal appeared overhead pouring purple energy onto Deliora.

"Let's go!" Shio said as the others nodded and followed him.

Not much action this chapter, but that is all for now!
