Chapter 49:
Anniversary Presents

Starting with the living room, Luigi gave Wendy a tour around the mansion as they wait for the others to arrive. By the time they finish exploring the first floor, they heard the doorbell rang, announcing Kassie and Roy's arrival. Dark gray thunder clouds were rolling in as they entered the mansion. Just like Wendy, they too were marvel at the sight of the green plumber's second home. Now that everyone was here, the double date can begin.

"Ok, we're all here; now what do we do?" Kassie asked.

"Now, we make dinner,"

"Are you serious?" Roy said. "You bought us all da way here ta make our own dinner?"

"No," Luigi replies, placing a hand on Roy's shoulder "I brought you all the way here so we..." Implicating the two of them. "...can make dinner for our girls"

Roy blinked behind his glasses and glared at the plumber. "Yur kiddin' me, right?"

Luigi shook his head, "Nope, I am dead serious."

"I think it's a good idea," said Wendy. "It's more personal and romantic this way."

"I agree with Wendy," Kassie said. "It's simple and show how much you really care."

Roy raised an eyebrow. He was surprise to see that they had actually favored this idea, Wendy especially. The pink koopa always wanted the best and most expensive things in life. But ever since she started dating the green hero, she had been more generous and considering, if ever so slightly.

And she wasn't the only one. During their battles, he had notice the green plumber has gotten more daring and forceful. He wasn't sure if Wendy had an influence on his newfound courage, but if so, it definitely makes him more of a challenge.

He sighed. "Fine, I'll do it."

"Great," said Luigi. "You girls can relax; Roy and I will take care of everything, right Roy?"

"Yea', sure, whateva,"

Luigi rolled his eyes and lead the purple koopa towards the kitchen, leaving the girls to wonder the mansion freely with Spettro in tow. Once there, the two wash their hands and prep the area before beginning.

"Okay, plumber, what do you plan on makin'?" Roy asked.

"Nothing too difficult, it should only take about thirty minutes." Luigi replies. "You boil some water, I'll grate the cheese."

The purple koopa grab a pot and fill it up with water. Once it was half full, he place on the stove and turn it on. He crossed his arms and stood there, staring at the pot as it slowly begin to boil.

"So Roy," said Luigi suddenly. "Do you plan on giving Kassie a gift tonight?"

"Yea',"

"Care to tell me what it is?" Luigi asked when he didn't continue.

"Sure, if you don't go around tellin' everyone,"

"Don't worry, I won't."

Roy turned his gaze away from the stove and lean against the corner across from Luigi. "I got her a charm bracelet,"

"Really?" Luigi said in slight disbelief.

Roy rolled his eyes. "Yes really; Kassie isn't into much jewelry so I thought ta get somethin' dat could resemble her or somethin'"

"Actually, a charm bracelet is a great idea. Maybe I should get one for Wendy."

"Yea, well, she'll know you got it from me 'cause I asked ta come wit' me ta pick out da charms."

Luigi shrugged. "It won't matter; she'll just be happy knowing I'm getting her something pretty."

Roy simply nodded in agreement.

As the boys were busy in the kitchen, the girls were wondering around the mansion, talking fondly to each other. Being the only two in a mismatch relationship, it was comforting to know they could rely on each other if they were wanted to talk about it.

"Hey Wendy, can I ask you something?"

Wendy turned to the blue toadette next to her. "Of course, what's up?"

"Well," Kassie hesitated. "I want to give Roy something special for our anniversary but the thing is...I'm not sure if now is the right time."

"What do you mean?" Wendy asked.

"What I mean is... I'm not quite sure if I'm ready to give it to him."

"Oh!" Wendy's eyes widen as she caught the hidden message in her words. She shook her head slightly to rid the blush that was forming. "Okay, what makes you say that?"

"It's a long story," Kassie sighed.

They were walking aimlessly around the mansion. Somehow, they made it back to the living room. Kassie walked over and sat down on the couch. Wendy sat beside her and Spettro sat on the floor.

"It all started three years ago, before I moved to Toad Town," Kassie started. "I was with this guy who I thought loved me as much as I loved him. The truth was he was only using me to get what he wanted and leading me into trouble as he did so. I didn't notice how manipulative he was at first until he tried to force me into doing something I didn't want to do. At that time, I got out of it but my uncle got worried and sent me here.

"Roy is the first guy I dated in three years and the best one I had out of the past five. I've been thinking about this for a while now, but I'm still a bit weary. What do you think?"

Wendy nodded in understanding. "Well, since you asked, I think you should give it to him when you feel the time is right."

"Is that what you and Luigi are doing?"

"Yes," she replies. "I'll admit, there were times where I offered to give it to him but he always decline, stating it wasn't the right time. And even though it was a bit frustrating, I always agree with him in the end."

"He never forced you or anything?"

Wendy shook her head. "Nope, Luigi's not that type of guy and that goes the same with Roy." She leans forward and whispered a secret in her ear. "Believe it or not, Roy has never done it with anyone either."

"Really?" Kassie asked surprised.

Wendy nodded. Who would have thought; a bad boy like Roy hasn't gotten physical with anyone yet. Kassie smiled, the purple koopa was a bigger softy than she thought.

"The point is, Kassie, just take your time. When the moment calls for it, you'll know."

"You're right," Kassie said. "Thanks Wendy,"

After about an hour, dinner was finally ready. Upon entering the dining room, the girls gasped at what they saw. The entire table was romantically just for the four of them. The silverware was neatly organized on the table, candle lights and flowers were set place all around, and light music could be heard playing the background.

"So, what do you think?" Roy asked.

"It's beautiful, guys," said Kassie.

"And that's not all," said Luigi.

He pulls a bottle out from behind his back. It was the same champagne he won with Wendy from that dance contest a month ago.

"You brought champagne?"

"I just thought since this is such a special day, we'll celebrate it with a bit of champagne."

"Aw, aren't you sweet," Wendy said as she kissed the plumber on the cheek.

"Yea, yea, sweet as candy," said Roy. "Let's jus' getta eatin', I'm starvin'"

The others agreed. The ladies took their seats on the table as the gentlemen retrieve their dinner, fettuccine alfredo. All throughout dinner, the foursome talk and joke around while enjoying their food. Near the end, they all held up half a glass of champagne (much to Roy's dismay) and wish each other luck in the future.

After dinner, the two couples separated to spend some alone time together. In the living room, Luigi and Wendy were snuggled together, enjoying the warmth of the fireplace with Spettro who was chewing on a gold bone.

Kassie and Roy stood in the hallway, watching them before leaving them alone. They walked around the mansion in a comfortable silence. The only noise they heard was the faint sound of the heavy raindrops coming outside. After a while, Roy decided to speak up.

"'Ey, Kassie,"

The little toad turned to him. "Yeah,"

The koopa paused and took out something he was hiding behind his back. "Here, I got ya somethin'"

"Really?" Kassie said; a small blush present on her face.

She took his gift and opens it slowly. Once she saw it, she gasps and widens her eyes. Her gift was a simple charm bracelet decorated with blue and purple beads, a soccer ball, a guitar, and letters spelling 'Kassie' in the center.

"Aw Roy," She said softly. She took it out of the box and slipped it around her wrist. She held her hand out in an attempt to display her new jewelry. "I love it, thank you."

"It's nothin'" he shrugged.

Kassie smiled and place both her hands behind her back. "You know, I have something for you too."

"Really?" Roy said with a raised eyebrow.

"Yes, really,"

She took his hand and started leading him down the hall. Roy followed her without question, wondering where she was leading him. After a few minutes of silences, he spoke.

"So... what is it?" he asked.

Kassie turned to him with a smile. "I have to give it to in private."

"Private?" Roy questioned. 'What gift could she possibly give me in private?'

The two walked through the hall in silence until they came across an empty guest room. Kassie entered and motion Roy to come in with her. Roy frowned, not quite understand what was going on. He entered the guest room and the door closed behind him. No one heard or seen them for the rest of the night.

By the next day, the sun was up and shining upon the land of the Mushroom Kingdom, drying up everything that had gotten wet from last night's downpour. Inside of Luigi's mansion, our two couples were resting peacefully in their beds.

Within the master bedroom were Luigi and Wendy. The pink koopa had transformed herself human for the night and sleeping beside the green plumber. She had her head resting on his arm and her arm across around his chest.

Usually, it's Luigi who's the first one up. However, this time it was different. Wendy was the first to awaken as she starts to shift from her sleep. She stretched, yawning as she did so and opened her eyes slowly. She wasn't really an early morning person and would love to sleep in, but she had plans for this morning so she had to get up early.

Carefully so she doesn't disturb her partner, she climb out of bed. The slight movement caused the green plumber to shift and turn. After a moment, he settled and return back to sleep. She smiled; the green plumber was adorable in his sleep. She leans forward and places a light kiss on his cheek. Luigi sighed with content, a small smile forming on his lips. Wendy chuckled softly to herself and quietly left the room.

Arf, Arf!

Wendy jumped slightly out of fright by Spettro's greeting. She shushed him, signaling him to keep quiet.

"Keep it down, puppy; Luigi's still sleeping."

Spettro pants and moans. Wendy kneeled down to his level. "Why don't we go down to the kitchen and make Luigi-kins some breakfast, uhm?"

Spettro grunts in agreement. Wendy smiled and petted the Polterpup on the head. Spettro wags his tail back and forth as he walks beside Wendy towards the kitchen.

When they got there, the kitchen was still and quiet, expect for the sound of Spettro's heavy panting. Wendy had never cooked before in her life, seeing that she had faithful servants to do it for her. But Luigi always does and seem to enjoy so she decided to give it a try.

"Well, dis is a first,"

Wendy paused from dicing onions and wiped the tears from her eyes. She looks over to the door to see her brother leaning causally against the wall. She puffed,

"Good morning to you Roy; what are you doing up so early?"

"I was about ta ask ya da same thin',"

He entered the kitchen and started making some coffee. Wendy wipes her hand, finish with the onions. She grabs a bowl and places her chopped onions, green peppers, tomatoes, and sausages inside. Next she grabs the eggs and started cracking them within the bowl.

"I just thought I'll try making breakfast this morning," she replies.

"Really? Do ya even know where da fire extinguisher is?"

"Ha, ha, very funny," Once all her eggs were in the bowl, she started mixing everything with a whisk. "So, did your night with Kassie go?"

"Great," Roy groaned slightly. "She mentioned ya two talked last night."

"Yeah, well, she was a bit unsure so I gave her some advice. The rest of up to her," Wendy answered causally.

Roy puff but didn't say anything after that. Wendy paused from her mixing and turned her attention on the stove. She places a large pan with some butter on the stove top and resumes mixing her bowl as she waits for the pan to heat up.

Roy stood where he was, watching his sister cook for the first time and seem to be doing well. From the corner of his eyes, he spots a wrinkled sheet of paper on the corner. He walks over and picked it up. It was a magazine article with a picture of a burrito on it. It had a list of cooking ingredients and the instructions on making it.

"So, what're ya cookin'?" Roy asked her.

"A breakfast burrito," Wendy answered, turning back to him. "The article says it's pretty easy so I figure I'll give it a shot."

Once the pan was heated, Wendy pours the bowl of egg mixture upon the pan. She sets that aside and stir the pan with a spatula. Roy stood beside her to see how it was going. So far everything was good, nothing was burn.

'Yet,' Roy thought. Then asked, "Need any help?"

Wendy turned to him. "Actually, you could put some cheese on the tortillas." She said. "Everyone should get two,"

Roy nodded and left to do the simple task. He took out four plates and place two tortillas on each, making a total of eight. After sprinkling on some cheese, Wendy came over with the pan and divided the egg mixture evenly among each tortilla.

"Okay, now we just have to wrap them up."

Wendy took the first two plates as Roy took the last two. He just finished his first set when he noticed his sister having trouble with the first one. He raised a brow,

"Need any help?"

Wendy looks over him and frown. "Yeah, how did you manage to keep everything in?"

"It's not dat hard. 'Ey, watch me."

Roy demonstrated how he folded it and Wendy copied what he did. Once all eight break burritos were done, they work on the dinning; making sure everything was ready by the time Luigi and Kassie wake up.

"What's going on here?"

Roy and Wendy turned to see Luigi, Spettro, and Kassie standing by the opening. Both of them looked like they just got out of bed, although Kassie was looking a bit on the fatigue side and her hair was very messy.

"Luigi! You're awake," Wendy cheered.

"Yeah, I woke up to soft kisses," He said. He took a glance at his ghost pup. "Unfortunately, they weren't the kisses I was hoping for."

"Well, you're just in time; I made breakfast for everyone."

The green plumber blinked. "You make breakfast?"

"Shocking isn't?" Roy joked.

Luigi walks over to the table. "What did you make?"

"A breakfast burrito," Wendy replies happily. "It has everything; eggs, cheese, sausage, you name it."

"Sounds good, I can't wait to try it."

"Here, take this one." She hands him a plate. "I wrap this one myself."

"Thank you, sweetie,"

Luigi and Wendy sat at the table leaving Roy and Kassie to themselves. Roy grabs a plate from the table and hands it to Kassie.

"How ya feelin'?"

Kassie shrugged. "Okay, I'm a little tired but other than that, I'm fine."

Roy nodded. The two joined Luigi and Wendy at the table and began eating their burritos. For Wendy's first time, everything tasted great much to her excitement.

After breakfast, Kassie announced she had to get going before Toadsworth starts to worry. She and Roy thank Luigi for letting them stay for the night and left the mansion. Luigi and Wendy stood by the door and wave good-bye to them as they follow the path that would lead them back to town.

"You know," Kassie said, "We sort of own Luigi a new bed."

Roy shrugged. "Eh, da plumber has a ton o' room. He won't mind if he miss jus' one."

Kassie rolled her eyes. "If you say so,"

After Kassie and Roy left, Wendy and Luigi reenter the mansion. Luigi place a hand on his chin in thought; something about this morning got him thinking.

"Is it just me, or did Kassie look like she's glowing?"

Wendy smiled. "Yes, she does.

Luigi raised an eyebrow. "You don't think they..."

"I don't think, I know."

He sighs and ran a hand through his hair. "Toadsworth's not going to like this."

"Eh, what's he going to do about it? It's their decision after all." Wendy shrugged. She wrapped her arms around his neck which in turn made him place his hands around her waist. She smiled seductively, "You know, I can also glow like that if you want?"

"No, no, that's fine, thanks for asking." Luigi chuckled nervously, a slight blush on his cheeks. "I have to…um… change the sheets in the guest room"

Quickly, he left the room leaving Wendy alone with Spettro. The Koopa princess 'humph' and place her hands on her hips as she turn to the Polterpup next to her.

"Well, he's not getting away that easy now, is he boy?" Spettro bark, almost as if he was actually agreeing with her. "That's what I thought."

She turned and started chasing after the green hero with Spettro right behind her. "You can run, plumber boy, but you can't hide from me."

Ending Notes for Today:

1) I made some breakfast burritos sometime ago. The tortillas were a little small, but other than that they turn out great.

2) I did a bit of research and found out that most people are willing to have sex after about a month of dating each other.

3) Also I forgot to mention this in the last chapter - Luigi does have his own place but it's not really a mansion. From the first few seconds of the opening of Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon, it seems that he settled with rank D from the first Luigi's Mansion because in comparison, the two look very similar to each other.

However in this story, I choose his place to be a rank A mainly because it fits better in the plot.
