Quick Author's Note:

To answer PyroSolracIII's question, I believe Wendy is one of those Koopa species that cannot take off her shell at will, so that's why she has to transform herself human.

Chapter 50:
A Rival's Discovery

...

The sun shines brightly over the Mushroom Kingdom in the mid summer afternoon. Its bright soft rays gleamed off of the green field just east from the large community called Toad Town.

Lying under the shade of their tree, Luigi and Wendy lay next to each other, simply enjoying the other's presence. Wendy had her head resting on Luigi's chest as the green man had his arm wrapped around her shoulders.

The two were resting peacefully under the cover of their tree. There was a picnic basket to where they lay. Wendy had brought it, full of food she had cooked for the two of them. Since her first time in the kitchen, the pink koopa had picked up the habit of cooking for herself and others. Sometimes dishes will come out fine, other times it won't. But regardless of the results, she had fun doing it and enjoys the look on people's faces when they see her cooking.

A slight breeze came along and lightly shook the tree branches. The small shaking cause one of its many leaves to fall out of place. The leaf fluttered to the ground slowly, landing softly on the nose of the green plumber.

Luigi gently open one eye. The slight touch of the leaf had awakened him from his light slumber. With one quick breath, he blows the leaf away and let it fall gently to the ground. He proceed to stretch, but only slightly so he doesn't disturb his sleeping partner.

After doing so, he relaxed and turn his attention towards the sky. Large puffy white clouds were slowly passing by, blocking the sun to keep the weather from getting too hot. He hummed silently to himself as his mind began to wonder. His thoughts settled on the advice Professor E. Gadd gave him just two weeks ago.

"We're going to have to tell the others." He said, just out of the blue.

"...Uhm?" Wendy opened her eyes slightly; drowsiness clouding her mind.

"The others," Luigi turned to her and smiled at her sleepy state. "We're going to have to tell them."

Wendy blinked to clear the fog in her head, trying to understand what he was saying. "Tell them what?"

"You know... about us." Luigi said. "We can't just keep this a secret forever. One way or another they're going to find out."

Wendy lean back and stretched. "You know how my dad is when it comes to you and your brother." She yawned. "If he never finds out I'm actually dating a goody two shoes plumber, he'll totally flip out."

"I know but I can't keep secrets from Mario. We never keep secrets from each other."

Wendy shrugged and settled back into his hold. "It doesn't seem he had notice to me. He's too busy with that pink princess of his to see any connection between Lady Fettuccine and I; the same goes with you and Kasanova."

"That may be true, but still; it's only a matter of time before someone figures out that the two different couples are actually one and the same."

Wendy yawned and placed her head back on his chest. "Don't worry so much about it, sweetie. When the time comes, we'll tell everybody. But for now, let's just enjoy our time together."

Luigi pulled her close and smiled. "I guess you're right."

Wendy cracked a smile. "Aren't I always?"

As the two resume enjoy their time together, they were unaware that they were not alone. Hidden in the bushes not too far from where they lay, a pair of red eyes was watching them. After hearing their little conversation, the owner of those eyes quietly left, leaving the couple undisturbed.

Far from where they were, Wendy's ex-friend and rival, Pompey appeared out of hiding. She had an all too knowing evil look on her face as she recalled what she had heard.

"So...Wendy's boyfriend is a fake. She's actually dating one of those hero plumbers from the Mushroom Kingdom." She smirked. "Dating the enemy, I see. I have a feeling King Bowser won't be happy to hear about this."

She turned and left the area before she could be seen. "I should report this in; however, I could use this information to my advance. I'm going to need a little help."

She paused and places a hand on her chin in thought. "But who can I turn to? Koren and Kohana won't talk to me. Goombaline is the same. And Korbin...uhm, well, I could care less about him."

She continue on walking, trying to think of someone who can help with her plan. She was so warped up in her thoughts that she didn't notice someone had stepped in her path. She bumped into him and fell on the floor. She shook her head and glared at the figure.

"Hey! Watch it buddy."

The black shelled koopa she bumped into turn to her and smirked. "My apologies; I didn't see you there."

Pompey scowled him. "So are you going to help me or not?"

The koopa scoffed at her attitude, but helped her nevertheless. "There, happy?" he said, sarcastically.

Pompey dusted herself off. "Very,"

"I'm glad. Now if you would excuse me, I have someone more important to find."

Pompey scoffed. "And who, I dare ask, may that be?"

The koopa turn to her and smirked. "Why the princess of course; I must find her before she taken away by some unqualified peasant."

"Princess?" She asked. "Are you talking about Wendy?"

"Why yes, yes I am. Do you know her?"

She shrugged. "Use to...We don't exactly see eye to eye anymore."

"Oh, what a shame; as future prince, I would have like to meet Wendy's friends."

Pompey raised an eyebrow. "Future prince?"

He nodded. "Wendy and I are destined to be together; the only problem is she's dating some low-level peasant who isn't even worthy enough to hold her hand. I, on the other hand, is more than quantify than that Koopa named Kasanova."

"Kasanova?" Pompey repeated, a slight grin appearing on her face. 'Looks like I just found myself a partner.' "Say, uhm, Mr...?"

"Kalvin," The black koopa answered. "Sir Kalvin, to be exact,"

"Yeah, whatever," Pompey rolled her eyes. "Say, Kalvin, what if I told you that Kasanova isn't all who he appears to be?"

Kalvin raised an eyebrow. "What do you mean?"

Everything was quiet and still in the air, expect for the light breeze that shook the greenery in the area. All of a sudden, the peaceful silence broke by a surprise scream.

"WHAT!? HE'S ACTUALLY A HUMAN!?"

"Scream louder why don't ya; I don't think my earholes are bleeding yet." Pompey scowled.

"Are you sure on this information?"

"I saw it with my own eyes." Pompey replies. "And he's not just any human either; he's one of those hero plumbers that allows defends the Mushroom Kingdom."

"A plumber, of all things..." Kalvin said, full of disbelief "Tell me, Miss..."

"Pompey"

"Miss Pompey, have you informed the King on this yet?"

"No, but I will."

"Good." He sighed in relief. He turned and started ranking to himself in anger. "Grah, how dare that filthy plumber use my princess for his own personal gain...Tell me, Miss Pompey, where can I find this plumber so I can fight him myself."

"Woo, hold your horses there, Romeo; you're not the only one who wants to get back at someone. Listen, I have a plan that will not only expose them for the fakes that they are, but will also separate them for the better."

Kazvin paused from his angry rank and turned his gaze on the black-haired Pom-Pom before him.

"I'm listening..."
