Author's Note:
I had this part of the plot planned out before I even posted this story. So to finally get this far, brings me great pleasure.
A guest asked for my opinion about the new Super Smash Bros. The only Super Smash Bros I played was Brawl. I'm not an expect on it so bare with me here.
Ok, well, I don't have a 3DS so I can't play it, but I did watch a walkthrough of it online. I agree with the guest that its a good game to play on the go, but I would probably like it better on a bigger screen. The only games I mainly play for a portable game console are Strategy games and RPG, everything else is usually on the flat screen, fighting especially.
So, I'm mostly looking forward to the Wii U version. But first I actually need to get a Wii U.

Ambush

It was a brand new day in the Darklands and all around the Koopa castle was busy. Bowser had come up with a new plan to kidnap Peach and conquer her kingdom so almost everyone was preparing for it.
Wendy was in her room, reading through a magazine looking for a new recipe she could try out later. Within an hour or so, she and her family are suppose to raid the Mushroom castle so she was taking this time to herself. A knock on her door threw her attention. She got up from her bed and walked over to answer the door.
"Greeting Princess," said a koopa guard. "I got an important letter for you."
Wendy took the letter and thanked the guard. He left as Wendy shut the door. She sat on her bed and started opening the lettering. Once opened, she read through it.
"Wendy,
Please come quick!
There is something urgent we must talk about.
Meet me at our meeting spot as soon as you can.
From there, I will discuss things further.
Kasanova Koopa"
Wendy frowned. The letter sound important. What did he want to talk about? She didn't spend must time thinking about it as she grab her wand and headed outside her room. As she ran down the hall, she heard Kamek call out to her.
"Wendy, where are you running off to?"
"I have to see Kasanova," she replies. "It won't take long I promise."
"But you can't go now," he tries to tell her. "The King has decides to move up the plan, we're leaving in ten minutes!"
"Don't worry, I'll be back soon," she yelled back, her voice faded in the distance.
Kamek sighed as he watched her go. As much as it displeased him, he had a suspicious feeling about her boyfriend, Kasanova Koopa. Yes, he was an ideal mate when it comes to Wendy and a potential minion when it comes to the King; but instinct told him something just doesn't feel right.
He shrugged and set the feeling aside for the time being. Right now, he had to retrieve his new invention from his lab so the king can use it in his plans. If everything goes well, then they'll have more than just the princess in their procession.

It was a bright sunny day in Toad Town and the Mario Brothers were just about to head out. Just yesterday, Princess Peach had invited them for a course of tea with her and Princess Daisy. It's been about three months since Luigi and Daisy had seen each other. The last time they had talked was the day after the Summer Ball where Luigi had permanently broke them off. After so long, the green clad plumber couldn't help but feel a bit nervous about seeing her again. However, he did want to remain friends with her so hopefully this small get together will help clear the tension between them.
Stepping outside of their house, they were immediately hit by that bright yellow sun. There was barely a cloud in the sky and everything seems so peaceful. Within thirty five minutes, they made it in front of the castle, only taking an extra five minutes when a few toads stopped them.
They were just about to enter through the castle door when Parakarry appeared and flew in front of them. He greeted them both before handing a letter to Luigi.
"I have an urgent letter for Mister Luigi." He said. "I believe it's from a Miss Alfredo?"
Luigi blinked in surprise. He took the letter and tipped the parakoopa with a coin. Satisfied, the parakoopa flew up and left. Mario turned to his brother, curious as to what was in the letter.
"So, what does it say?"
Luigi carefully opened the letter and read what it said out loud.
"Luigi,
Please come quick!

From there, I will discuss things further.
Lady Fettuccine"
"Sounds serious," said Mario.
"It is," Luigi said. He reread the letter once more before gently folding it and placing it in his pocket. "I should go,"
"Need any back up?"
Luigi shook his head. "No, it's fine. It's probably some personal issue or something like it. I'm sure I can handle it."
Mario nodded. "Okay then, I'll cover for you with Peach."
"Thanks bro, I owe you one. Tell Peach, I'm sorry by the way."
Luigi turned and started running towards the meeting spot. Mario watched him go before continuing on inside the castle. Along the way, he met up with one of the toads.
"Hey there, Mario,"
Mario smiled. "Hey there, Kastoadia; how are you feeling?"
For the last few days, the blue/purple colored toadette haven't been feeling so well. She's been feeling tired and sluggish lately. In fact, just yesterday Toadbert had found her pass out in the hallway. Everyone was worried, especially Toadsworth. But relief soon came when the young toad woke up a few minutes later. After a few questions, she admits that she hasn't been eating as much lately and the slightest whiff of food had left her feeling nauseous.
"Not good," Kassie sighs weary. "I actually threw up this morning."
"Oh, are you okay?" Mario asked worriedly.
"Yeah, I'm fine. Toadsworth gave me a few days off so I guess there's some good out of it." She looks around, searching for someone. "So, where's Luigi anyways? Isn't he coming?"
"He was until he got a letter from Lady Fettuccine. It was urgent so he had to take off."
Kassie nodded. "Well, I better get going. Toadsworth set up an appointment for me with Dr. Toadley."
"Okay, I hope you're feeling better."
"Thanks,"
After Kassie left, Mario continue down the hall searching for Peach and the others. He finds them in the garden area waiting for him to arrival. As he approaches them, they pause from any conversation they were having and turn to greet him.
"Hello there, Master Mario, good to see you on this fine morning." Toadsworth welcomed.
"Where is Luigi?" Peach asked. "Is he coming?"
"He was, but then he got an urgent letter from Lady Fettuccine so he had to leave." Mario reply.
"Well," said Daisy "If it's nothing too serious, we're just continue on without him."
Peach frowned when she said that but nodded nevertheless. It's been a few months since she and Luigi talked to each other as friends so she was hoping this little get together she set up will help get them to see eye-to-eye again. Unfortunately, something had come up at last minute.

Luigi arrived at their usual meeting spot in record time. He had gotten increasingly worried about the letter and started running faster. When he got there, he was relieved to see Wendy sitting under the tree, waiting for him impatiently.
"Wendy," he called out to her. "I got your letter, is everything alright?
Wendy raised an eyebrow. "Everything's fine. And what do you mean 'I got your letter'? You were the one that send me one, genius."
Luigi frowned. "But...I didn't send you. In fact, I just got one minutes ago stating it was from you."
Wendy scoffed. "I didn't send anyone any letter, Luigi. In fact, I was just at home enjoying myself before King Dad could call us to kidnap Princess Pinky when I got a letter stating it's from you."
Luigi narrow his eyes in suspicion. "But if you didn't send it and I didn't, who did?"
"That, my good man, would be me."
Wendy and Luigi quickly turned to where the sound of that voice came from. They gasped at who they saw.
"Kalvin!"
The black koopa stepped forward and smirked. Luigi tried to shield Wendy but it was already too late. He had seen them together and is fully aware of their secret relationship. Not only that, but he wasn't alone. He had two body guards with accompanying him, a Sledge Bro and a Chomp Bro.
"What are you doing here?" Luigi demanded
"I'm here, plumber, to rescue my princess from your grubby hands."
"Kalvin, how did you know I'll be here?" Wendy asked
"Well, princess, let just say I had some help."
"Help?" She questioned. "Help from whom?"
"From me,"
Luigi jumped at the unsuspected but familiar voice before him and Wendy turned behind them. His eyes widen at who he saw while Wendy just sneered.
"Pompey," She growled "Why am I not so surprise?"
"I must say Wendy; you sure know how to pick them." Pompey smiled mischievously. "Dating the enemy behinds the king's back; I can only imagine what his reaction would be when he finds out."
"You wouldn't dare!" Wendy snarled threateningly. However, the black haired Pom-Pom simply grins.
"Oh, I would, and I'm going to enjoy every minute of it."
"Why are you doing this, Pompey?" Luigi asked. "Why are you so fixated on making Wendy miserable?"
Pompey turned to him with a heated glare. "Because, Greenie, she's the one who ruined my life."
"For the last freaking time, it wasn't my fault!" Wendy yelled.
"It was your fault and you know it." She scoffed. "And I plan to ruin yours just as much as you ruined mine...starting with your love life."
Wendy growled and charge after Pompey. Luigi jumped and moved in to break them up. But before he could get close, Kalvin's bodyguards came in and blocked him from proceeding.
"Let's leave the ladies at bay, shall we?" said Kalvin as he appear in between the two large Koopa. "This is between us gentlemen."
Luigi took a step back from them and frowned. "Kalvin, I don't want to fight you."
"That's too bad, because I do." He sneered. "I don't know what she sees in you. You're nothing but a lousy human."
"A lousy human who sees her for who she is instead of what she is; a princess,"
Kalvin scoffed. "She can't love you; she'll never love a weak plumber like you."
"Whether she loves me or not is fine. I love her and if I have to give her up so she can be happy, then so be it." He took a fighting stance and narrowed his eyes on his opponents. "But I'm not going to let some selfish, bratty turtle misuse her for his own personal gain."
Kalvin growled. "You're going to regret saying that."

When I was picking Kalvin's henchmen, I knew they had to characters that are not very common. After looking around Super Mario wiki, I found these two Bros.
The Sledge Bro (or Elite Hammer Bro) had made a recent comeback in the New Super Mario Bros Wii and Super Luigi Wii U. However the Chomp Bro had only made an appearance in Mario and Luigi: Super Star Saga.
