09 – Name

The second her brain registered what her eyes had already taken in – the bold letters of his name on the guest list – her heart slammed against her rib cage so forcefully it hurt.

The last time she had seen him she had left him on an abandoned planet, injured and to die. From what she'd heard – and she'd tried hard not to hear anything – he had been saved and had recovered and was working as a bounty hunter. Not that she cared much for him anymore, anyway.

I'd follow you everywhere, he had said.

Somehow, she didn't appreciate the irony.
