I stared at what was in the mirror in horror; most of my face was normal on the side where my eye was not bandaged. But on the other side… it was an entirely different story.
A swirl of scars like white and black rivers of spider webs poured down from where my eye was, stretching across to my ear. Down the side of my neck as well was covered in markings that looked as though bones had splintered and dug into the skin from the inside, leaving angry dark splotches that looked almost like burns.
The scars stopped just short of where I would be able to see them if I turned my head, so I had not noticed them when I was changing. I was suddenly grateful for the bandages covering my eye; I was terrified as to what that looked like, the place all the slices of color were surely radiating from.
From my one good eye I felt tears start to spill over the longer I stared at what was once me. I vaguely remembered what I was supposed to look like, and this was not it.
I forced myself to turn away, my mind blanking as I saw what I had become. What those HUMANS had turned me into.
Suddenly fear washed over me; I'm sure that at some point when we were chatting few days ago, Amaimon had said that he liked to go to the human world to blow off steam whenever he got mad.
He was there.
With the humans that would surely chase him, succeed in what they had failed to do to me. With a newfound fear-induced energy, I hobbled as fast as I could to the door, pulling the collar of the coat up to hide my face before I opened it, and began to stumble through the hospital, searching for the way out.
I could feel my tail dragging along the floor; thankfully it was one of the few things that did not hurt horribly, and I wondered if it had even been harmed at all when the humans attacked me.
Every time I heard or saw another demon approaching, I ducked my head and turned the corner to keep from being seen, since I was sure that they would recognize a patient by wrappings all over their scarred face.
At one point, I was walking down a hallway , going as fast as I could without looking too suspicious. Then, I felt more than heard somebody about to approach from behind, where I had just gone. I looked around in panic, but the hall was too long to run down and I could see no connecting hallways.
I went for the next best thing I could think of; there was, right beside me, a door labeled "Emergency exit: alarm will not sound, fend for yourself."
In any other situation, I might have laughed at the warning. But as it was, I only had a second or two to escape from who or what was coming.
I threw open the door and jumped inside, not expecting in the least for my foot to step onto nothing but empty black, causing me to fall down or up, I couldn't tell.
I opened my mouth to try and scream but I couldn't.
Instead, I could only watch in utter fear as the door soundlessly slammed shut, plunging me into darkness that seemed to go on and on, without a top, bottom, or any end of the sorts.
A/N
Yes, short chapter, I know.
Don't worry, I just cut this and the next chapter into two because I think it would be awkward to have short chapters and then a huge, long, hard-to-read one.
So please review, I will update soon! :3
