Author's Note Today:

First thing first, thank you everyone for over 300 reviews. This is definitely my most successful story so far.

Someone mention the Firebrand and the Thunderhand in a review. I am fully aware of those powers. However, I'm sorry to say this but in this story, they were only a temporary thing set for that adventure/game alone. I already have this whole story planned out and I really don't want to redo or make any last minute changes.

Chapter 58:
Final Battle

Luigi fell to the ground roughly with a heavy grunt. His clothes were torn, and his body was scoring some painful cuts and bruises. The only good news out of this whole thing was that his left arm had stop bleeding.

The sound of footsteps caught his ears. He struggled to get back up on his feet. Unfortunately for him, he was too exhausted to continue and fell onto his knees.

He lifted his head up slowly to see Kalvin towering over him. The poorly lit room made him more menacing than he normally is. He glances over to Bowser, silently asking if he should finish the man now. Bowser nodded, confirming his answer. The black koopa smirked, sending cold shivers down Luigi's spine.

"Well, Luigi," He said, using his name for the very first (and probably final) time. "It seems you have met your end. Any last words before I send you off to the Underwhere?"

Luigi didn't anything at first. Instead, he glances over to Wendy's direction. The others had managed to pull her off of Pompey but not before giving the PomPom an impressive shiner over her right eye. The pink Koopa's blue eyes were shining with tears. Luigi smiled, both sadden with the outcome and apologetic for her to witness his death.

"Only that... I love you, Wendy, and that I will keep on loving you even in death." He finally said.

Wendy sobbed; she can feel her heart breaking inside her chest. Even Princess Peach was moved by his ultimate sacrifice. She turned away, unable to witness what will sure to be a gruesome scene played before her.

Kalvin scoffed, disgusted by the green man's proclaims of love. He held his claw up in striking position. Luigi closes his eyes, too afraid to see it come down upon him.

"Good-bye forever, Kasanova,"

"Not when I'm around, shell for brains,"

A fire ball was thrown. Kalvin had to jump out of the way just to avoid it, creating some distance between him and his soon-to-be dead victim. He growled and looked up to see who dares stand in his way.

"Mario!" Peach yelled out in great joy.

Indeed, it was the man in red, now dress in white thanks to the special powers of the fire flower. The red hero stood protectively in front of his injured brother who let out a sigh of relief. Kassie and Daisy appear at his side a minute later, concern for his well being.

"Luigi, are you alright?" Daisy worriedly asked.

He grunts. "I've...been better."

"Here, take this,"

Kassie hands him the mushroom, which he happily takes. Within seconds, most of the cuts and bruises on his body had healed and Luigi can feel a little bit of his energy returning to him. However, the mushroom was not enough to treat his head wound or the gash on his left arm. He still needed to see a doctor for those.

"How the shell did you get out?" Bowser growled.

"That's for us to know and for you to never find out." said Kassie.

"Just let the princess go and we'll be on way." said Mario.

"Like that will even happen," The Koopa King smirk. "I may not know how you three got out of your cells, but guess what? You're going back in."

"Oh yeah, make us," taunt Daisy.

"With pleasure; Kamek!"

"Here, your Koopaness," replies the magikoopa. "As well as the Anti-gravity ray,"

"Good," Bowser took the device and points it right at them. "I'll start with the plumber first."

Mario tense but stood his ground. Bowser pulls the trigger and multiple color waves appeared from the device. Mario timed his movements and jumped out of the way. Bowser growled and aimed the ray better.

"Hold still you pesky plumber,"

"As if that will ever happen," Mario replies as he dodged the second wave.

As Mario kept Bowser busy, Daisy and Kassie try to get carry Luigi off into safely. "Come on, Luigi; let's get you out of here,"

"What about Mario?"

"Don't worry, he'll be fine. Our main concern is you right now,"

Luigi frowned but say no more. The three of them were steadily making their way to the door when they were suddenly blocked by Kalvin.

"And just where do you think you're going?" He snarled. "We still have a match to finish."

"Dude, what's your trouble? You already won, isn't that good enough?" said Kassie.

"No, it isn't. Right now, we are both tied by one-one. Ending his miserable life will be the tie-breaker and declare me the winner. Now if you don't mind, hand him over."

"No way,"

"It's okay guys," Daisy and Kassie turn to the plumber in surprise. Luigi release themselves from their hold and stepped forward.

"Luigi, don't,"

"You're injured, remember?"

"I know," Luigi said. "But Kalvin won't let this up until it's finally settled. I have to do this,"

Kalvin smirked. "So, you're willing to face your fate. You got guts plumber, I'll give you that. But it isn't going to help you at all."

Both girls were hesitant. They didn't want to let him fight, but the look on his face told them he was determine to face the black koopa one last time.

"Okay, we'll let you fight," said Daisy "But not before taking this."

Daisy tossed him something which he quickly caught in his hands. The item she tossed him was an ice flower. "Let's even this fight out a bit."

Luigi smiled and thanked her. He crushed the light blue/white flower in his hands and his clothes began to change color. His overalls turn green, while his cap and shirt turn light blue.

He was now Ice Luigi.

Kalvin puffed at his new appearance, seeming unimpressed. "So you're resorting to tricks uh? Seems unfair, don't you think?"

"No offense, but I think fairness went out the window when you started winning." Luigi commented. "And besides, anything goes; that was rule number one."

He shrugged. "Nevertheless, the outcome is still the same."

"Well, see about that."

With both Bowser and Kalvin busy with their own fights, Daisy and Kassie thought it would be a good time to get Peach out of her cage. Without anyone noticing them, they made their way. Peach was relief to see them and couldn't wait to finally be free from her imprisonment.

"Don't worry, Princess, we'll get you out."

"Just as soon as we could find the lock key," said Daisy

"Looking for this,"

They jumped and quickly turn around. Junior, Kamek, Iggy, and Lemmy had them surround. Junior smirked as he held up the key for the three to see.

"Nice try, but Mama Peach isn't going anywhere. And either are you guys,"

Daisy and Kassie back away from the menacing group as they started to approach them. Mario noticed this and quickly came up with an idea to help. He leaps over to their direction and taunts Bowser into using his machine.

"Over here, Lizard-breath; just try to get me."

"You ask for it," Bowser growled out frustration.

He aimed the ray and pulled the trigger. Mario quickly jumped out of the way. Instead of hitting him, the beam hit Junior and the others.

"Hey," Junior yelled out as he was lift into the air.

"Oh now, look what you made me did." Bowser growl, now angry at the plumber

Mario shrugged. "What can I say? You have terrible aim,"

"Oh yeah, aim dis,"

Without warning, Mario was hit by a Bullet Bill shot by Roy. The red hero landed on the ground roughly, his power up fading. Before he could get up, he was pinned down to the ground by Ludwig and Morton.

"Good work, Boys. Now hold him still,"

Mario struggled against their hold but couldn't free himself in time. Luigi noticed his brother was in trouble and quickly decided to end his match now. Using his Super Jump, he leaps over the black koopa and tosses two ice balls at him. Kalvin ducks and mocks the plumber for his poor aim.

"Ha, miss,"

Luigi smiled. "Actually, I didn't."

He was right. Instead of hitting Kalvin, the ice balls bounce off the ground and hit Bower's Anti-gravity ray instead. The Koopa King was stunned at what just happened to his device. He then growled and struggled to free it from the block of ice. At that moment, Princess Peach came in and jumped on top of Bowser's head. The attack stunned Bowser temporary and caused him to drop the ice block which broke on impact. At the same time, Princess Daisy and Kassie came in and hopped on Ludwig's and Morton's heads, freeing Mario from their hold. The foursome regrouped after that and stood to face Bowser and his remaining Koopalings.

"This isn't over yet," Bowser growled, ready to attack with his kids behind him.

Mario and the others tense and prepare for their assault. Bowser was just about to throw a fire ball at them when a black shell suddenly slide passes them. That shell collided with Bowser who fall backwards and landed right on top of the other Koopalings. Kalvin soon popped out of his shell and look over to his king in apology.

"Sorry, your Majesty,"

Bowser growled and struggled to get back up. Mario and friends where stun for a moment when a call from their side snapped them out of it.

"Mario!"

The red hero turned to his brother who tosses him the Anti-gravity ray. Mario caught it and aim Bowser's own device at him and his group. He quickly pressed the trigger and the rainbow wave to appear over the Koopas. Within seconds, they too were suddenly floating in air.

Mario smirked. "How's the weather up there, Bowser?"

"Get me down now!" Bowser yelled as Junior bumped into him.

Before Mario could say anything about that, the device started to spark uncontrollably. Mario dropped it on the floor. The ray continued to spark until it exploded into pieces.

"Sorry, but it looks like your toy broke."

Bowser growled and started raging on. Mario paid no attention to him and focused on his brother. Luigi was downright exhausted. The younger hero seemed ready to fall down if he wasn't sitting already. Kassie and the Princesses were surrounding as the red hero ran to his aim to see how he was faring.

"You okay, Bro." He asked. Luigi nodded.

"I'm fine, just worn-out." He frowned. "Sorry for the trouble I caused."

Mario shrugged. "We'll talk about that later. For now, let's just get you back home."

Everyone agreed; home was sounding pretty good right now. Mario helped his brother stand and half carried him out of the castle with the others following close behind. As they exit, they were all oblivious to Bowser's claims of revenge and comeback. Even after they left, he continues to rage on as he and the others float aimlessly around. After about twenty minutes, Ludwig seems to notice something.

"Hey guys, what happened to Wendy?" At the mention of the pink Koopa, the other Koopalings turned their attention on him.

"Don't know," said Larry "She sort of disappeared during the fight."

"Roy's missing too," said Morton. "Which is odd since he was the one to throw that Bullet Bill at Mario?"

"It's possible he could have gone after Wendy," suggested Iggy.

"Maybe..."

They also will appear in a new story I have in mind and will be more evolved/powerful than they appeared in the game.
