"So what's the deal with you and your mom?" asked Emma as we crossed the street, "And you Jack, your Dad owns the town?"
"It's not about us, it's about her curse." Said Henry.
"We have to break it." I continued.
"Luckily, I have a plan." Henry said.
"You do?" I asked.
"I do," answered Henry, "Step one, identification. I call it Operation Cobra."
"Cobra?" questioned Emma, "That has nothing to do with fairy tales."
"But it does sound cool." I commented.
"Exactly, it's a codename," explained Henry, "To throw the Queen off the trail."
"So everyone here is a fairy tale character, they just don't know it?" said Emma she pointed at me, "Including you."
"Yup," I answered, "Just do not ask me who, I have no idea."
"That's the curse," explained Henry, "Time's been frozen. Until you got here."
"Thank you for that by the way, so nice to know I won't be stuck in puberty forever." I said.
Emma went to go take a bite of a red apple that she had in her hand, "Hey!" cried out Henry, "Where'd you get that?"
"Your mom." Answered Emma.
Henry quickly took the apple from her and threw it behind us, "Don't eat that."
"Good thinking, Evil Queen, apple not a good combo." I said.
"Okay?" said Emma, "Uh, all right. What about their pasts?"
"They don't know. It's a haze to them," explained Henry, "Ask anyone anything and you'll see."
"I am starting to remember some bits, but it is not much to go on." I said.
"So, for decades people have been walking around in a haze, not aging, with screwed-up memories, stuck in a cursed town that kept them oblivious?" said Emma trying to put everything together.
"I knew you'd get it." Smiled Henry, "That's why we need you. You're the only one who can stop her curse."
"Because I'm the daughter of Snow White and Prince Charming?" said Emma stopping.
"Yes." I said.
"And right now we have the advantage," Said Henry, "My mom doesn't know that, I took out the end." He opened up his backpack and pulled out pages of the storybook, "The part with you in it." Emma looked at one of the pages which had a picture of Prince Charming holding a baby in a blanker sewn into the blanket was the name Emma, "See? Your mom is Snow White."
"Oh kid." Said Emma.
"I know the hero never believes at first," defended Henry, "If they did, it wouldn't be a very good story. If you need proof, take them. Read them. But whatever you do, don't let her see these pages. They're dangerous. If she finds out who you are…"
"It would be bad." I finished, "Let's keep it at that."
Emma and I walked Henry to school as we walked along the hedge outside of the school, Henry said, "I gotta go. But I'll find you later and we can get started." He walked away a bit. "I knew you'd believe us."
"I never said I did." Said Emma.
"Why else would you be here?" called Henry.
"He has a point," I looked at the time on my phone. Oh No. "Hey Henry, call me when you get out." I called back walking away from the school back towards the square.
"You got it Jack." Called Henry waving.
Emma looked at me, "Your leaving too? I thought you said you were homeschooled?"
"I am. But I have to go to work," I explained, "See you later."
I walked away for a few feet before breaking into a run. I was later than I had intended though I did not really care, however Da may. When I got to the shop I looked in the window, Da was not in the front. I carefully opened the door, not even ringing the front bell. Perfect now just to make myself look as though I have been working for a few minutes.
"Hello Jackson," called Da's voice from the back, "Glad you decided to come in today."
"What are you talking about I have been here for awhile." I said picking up a rag from behind the register.
"No you haven't," said Da coming into the front room, "You just got in."
"How did you know?" I admitted
"I have eyes in the back of my head that can see through walls." Said Da, "Jack I your father, nothing you do really gets by me."
"Sorry I am late, lost track of time." I said.
"What were you doing anyway?"
"I walked Henry to school." I said. Da didn't ask any more questions, he just left it there.
Around lunch time Da left the shop to me so that he could go pick something up for us to eat. I had done all the cleaning that had to be done for the day so I decided to use my down time to do something productive towards Operation Cobra and for my own sake. I was going to try to get a handle or at least some control over these returning memories.
It may also help Henry to further convince Emma of our theory. Last time I was able to self induce a memory it was because I was looking at the sea and it reminded me of something I saw in the Enchanted Forest maybe I could do that again. Now what did I want to remember….more on the curse, what made it tick….how was it enacted….I felt myself begin to drift, here goes nothing.
A/N: Hehehe Hi everyone you miss me? For the record I am up to like Chapter 18 in writing this Fic it is just that I have been lazy in uploading…on the bright side I have figured some things out for later in the story! As sort of an apology for my lazyness I am also going to release chapter 11 after this so I will save most of my note for that! Feel free to review. So see you soon!
