Amaimon's POV
I ran out of the hospital room as fast as I possibly could, down the hall and out the door.
How could I have been so stupid as to let that slip?! Now Rin would surely try to find out what was wrong, and it would be my fault that he would hate me once again. All that I wanted was for my little brother to be the way he was supposed to be, the way that our father had planned for him.
Through the wasteland I sprinted, not stopping until I could no longer see the giant, twisted building behind me. Behemoth wasn't far behind me, panting while racing next to me like the dog I had trained him to be. Once he came to a stop next to me he flopped down, laying on his back and seeming to fall asleep.
I tilted my head up to the black and purple swirled sky, taking in deep gasps of the both freezing cold and burning air. It tasted like decaying souls; the familiarity of it calmed me down a bit. But I was still restless, and I felt that familiar itch to go into the human world.
It was, after all, the perfect place to go and blow off some steam. Straightening myself up and regaining my usual appearance instead of the slightly panicked and self-loathing composure, I began walking in the direction of the nearest portal area.
Carefully so as not to wake up Behemoth, I stepped lightly across to dry rocky ground. Once I was a safe enough distance away I dropped the carefulness of it, knowing that the little hobgoblin would be just fine when he woke up. Besides, I didn't' want him in the human realm at this time, it was better for him to just stay here.
As I walked, I tried as best as I could to forget about my slip of the tongue back at the hospital. But, it was to no avail and every attempt only seemed to pull it deeper into my thoughts.
Relief washed over me when I reached the enormous cavern, the walls of it perfectly smooth and impossible to grab hold of. The bottom of it was nowhere in sight, but I already knew that it wouldn't take long to fall through the seemingly solid bottom and into the human realm.
Without hesitation I stepped off the ledge, turning in the air so that my back would make the first impact. After a few seconds into the fall, the dim light from Gehenna faded into nothing, leaving my in complete and utter darkness with nothing but the sound of stale air lashing past my ears.
And then, there was a blinding flash of light while my back struck something that felt like it would tear my body apart, the force jarring ever bone in my body. Yet I knew this sensation enough to barely wince.
I opened up my eyes that I had instinctively closed when the light flashed, and blinked a few times to get used to the unusually concentrated light of the human sun. No matter how many times I did this, I would never be able to adjust my eyes immediately to the illumination.
Sitting up by lifting myself on my elbows, I looked around. Let's see… I thought to myself while digging a lollipop out of my long coat, cement below me, sky directly above, no other buildings or ground in sight, fencing around this place… I landed on the top of a sky scraper or something.
I stood up, stretching my arms over my head and them popping my neck to relieve at least a bit of the tension. But it was, of course, no substitute for destroying things. So, with that in mind, I jumped down off of the tall building into the streets below.
Until I had caused enough mayhem to forget about my foolish mistake, I would just have to stay here. Even if it meant not being able to see Rin for however long it might take.
