Okay, so the votes are in! I will be posting occasional chapters throughout the months, but I will certainly be sure to do something special for the holidays and such! :3

I do hope that this chapter is written better than the last; I've narrowed down my permanent writing style to this type and the longer paragraph-form style. But this chapter certainly has more detail in it than the others, so please just bear with me and slog through it and tell me what you think of this type of writing.

To be fair, I don't think that I've been quite as clear as I could have been in earlier chapters because of how many details I took out; I've been told on more than one occasion that I choke out the story line with useless details, but I leave it up to you, my readers, to decide.

Okay. So, now that that is done, here is chapter 16!

Rin's POV

I searched through the walls of seemingly endless eyes, my nerves clotting into my throat as they stared back at me, ownerless eyes with no more life or means of breaking their disturbing, glazed-over vigil. But I stayed as strong as I could, conscious of my father and that weasel creature watching me intently, silently.

My fingers brushed over the shelves, made of some substance I couldn't quite place. It was warm to the touch, and almost seeming to pull my fingers in. The motions felt strange, but I managed to convince myself that it wasn't actually strange; I had just forgotten what normal was.

With another deep breath to fully calm my nerves, I closed my eyes. The damaged one was still numb, lacking all feeling. This is necessary, I told myself, opening my eyes up once more to scan the shelves. I cannot show weakness here, and after all; my subjects gave these eyes willingly, and I guess that it would be horrid of me to refuse to use their sacrifices.

"Are you almost finished, my son?" I heard the smooth-as-honey voice echo behind me, bouncing down the seemingly endless shelves. "We have much to do, and it is imperative that we get this over with soon. Please, choose soon."

I glanced behind me at Satan and Nerezza, suddenly feeling pressured. This was kind of a big thing for me! After all, everybody would be able to see this new eye, I couldn't afford to have an eye that made me look like a total idiot.

But the pressure made me walk faster, until I got nervous enough to just stop, reaching out and grabbing the first jar that caught my eyes. Or, well, eye.

"Uh… This one?" I said, it being more of a question than a statement. "Fair enough, my son," Father said with a smile, walking over to see what I had chosen. "Interesting choice… a quaesitor demon eye. Very good for looking into the worst fears of your enemies. Good choice, my son!" He grinned at me then, handing me back the jar, letting me actually look at it for the first time.

What I saw somewhat unnerved me, but at the same time I couldn't help but think that it was pretty cool. Quaesitor meant 'The Seeker' in Latin, right? The eye was shaped like a human eye, but the coloration was entirely off; instead of the white of the eye being white and spider-webbed with red veins, it was black with a marble design of dark stone gray. The iris was a blue, almost white color that seemed to pulse with a light that was almost tangible.

To be completely honest, I didn't think that it looked half bad. I reached up a hand to my destroyed eye, feeling the muscles twitch over and over again as if begging not to be removed. But I straightened slightly when Nerezza padded over, taking the jar gently from my hand. "Thaaaaaankuuuu maztyyyyyr… It weel be raaaaadi een a shoowaart tymio," she hissed through her stitched mouth, bowing as her bat-like wings expanded into full sized ones, then lifted her off at a blinding speed with the jar.

Satan placed a hand on my shoulder as I watched the lab coat-clad demon escape through a giant, gaping hole in the ceiling. "Come Rin." He said, guiding me out of the room and back to the set of doors we had come in through. "It is time to prepare for your transplant." And with that he opened the door, leading me in all of my nervousness to go get ready to regain sight in my eye once more.
