The next morning, I arrived at Granny's Diner, a few minutes earlier before anyone else. I hoped Henry or Emma or even Ms. Blanchard was going to arrive before Kristalyn did. At least then I could quickly explain to them that we would have a little extra company for breakfast this morning. Unfortunately luck was not in my favor this morning.

Kristalyn arrived within minutes, 'Hi Jackie."

"Do not call me Jackie, I barely know you."

"But if I am going to be helping you on Operation Cobra, shouldn't we be on friendly terms?" she asked.

"I suppose but I do not like people calling me Jackie," I explained, only one person in the world was allowed to and that was Da, "Besides you have not been accepted into the Operation yet."

"I am willing to help," Kristalyn said, "Isn't that enough."

"I do not know, overall it is not my place to say." I said. I looked to see if anyone else was on their way, seeing that no one was I looked back at Kristalyn, "I suppose we should wait inside with for everyone."

"I thought you never ask, Jack?" she asked testing my name.

"Jack is fine." I said, we approached the door and I opened the door for her. She entered the diner first and picked out our booth. I slid in one end and she slid in opposite me, Ruby came over and we ordered some drinks for ourselves.

"So what is it you wanted to talk to me about, why is it you want to believe Henry and me?"

"Can't tell you."

"But you said…" I began.

"I said AFTER breakfast." She said smiling.

Henry came in a few minutes later, he had a gray shirt in his hand. "Hey Jack! Hi Kristalyn? What are you doing here?"

"She…" I started to explain as Henry sat next to me in the booth.

"I can explain myself," said Kristalyn kicking me in my leg cutting me off, "I overheard you talking to Jack about your Operation Cobra thing the other day and I want to help."

"Really?" asked Henry.

"Yes, I hope you do not mind?" said Kristalyn

"No, not at all welcome to the team." Said Henry.

"Why do you have a shirt with you Henry?" I asked .

"It is for Emma, she said she needed a shirt." Explained Henry.

"It's gray." Commented Kristalyn.

"Only color I could find." Said Henry.

When Emma came in she slid in next to Kristalyn, after she had been filled in, we all ordered breakfast. Ms. Blanchard was late, still not arriving after we had all finished and paid the bill. While we waited Emma took the gray shirt from Henry and went into the restroom to change.

Emma came back from the bathroom in the gray shirt that Henry had given her, "Thanks for the shirt." She said sliding back in the booth next to Kristalyn, "Hey, is this your mother's?"

"She'll never notice," said Henry.

"Where does she think you are anyway?" questioned Emma.

"At the arcade with Jack playing Whack-A-Mole." Explained Henry.

"And she bought that?" asked Emma.

"She wants to believe it. So she does," said Henry.

"Oh, imagine that." Said Emma.

The front bell of the diner chimed and Ms. Blanchard came in. "She's here!" I said.

"Hey, you three don't get you hopes up," said Emma, "We're just getting started, okay?"

Ms. Blanchard squeezed into the booth right next to me and Henry. We all stared at her anxiously, even Kristalyn who had only known about our plan for about half an hour. "He woke up," said Ms. Blanchard.

"What?" exclaimed Emma.

"I knew it." Said Henry.

"That's amazing." I said.

"That's even better than you guys thought, isn't?" said Kristalyn.

"I mean, he didn't wake up-wake up," Ms. Blanchard explained quickly, "But he grabbed my hand."

"He's remembering" said Henry excited.

"Subconsciously at least," I commented, "He is after all in a coma."

"What did the doctor say," asked Emma.

"That I imagined it, but I'm not crazy, I know it happened." Said Ms. Blanchard

"We have to back then," said Kristalyn, "Maybe if you read to him again."

"Brilliant," commented Henry. Great now the new girl is doing more than me.

"Let's go." Agreed Ms. Blanchard,"

Our side of the booth filed out quickly, Kristalyn was not able to join us as quickly for she was stuck behind Emma who seemed to be confused. "Wait. Wait…What?" she jabbered getting out of the booth.

"If I got through to him, if we made a connection…" said Ms. Blanchard.

"You don't believe…" said Emma.

"That he's Prince Charming?" questioned Ms. Blanchard, "Of course not. Somehow, someway, I touched him."

All of us except Emma exited the diner, while we waited for Emma I turned to Kristalyn, "Didn't you want to talk to me about something?"

"It can wait," she said, "Besides I think waking up a coma patient is more important right now."

When we got to the hospital we rushed up to the wing where John Doe was, there were people outside of his room. Not surprising if this coma patient was waking up, I suppose one should expect this much excitement. Henry rushed ahead of us, "You're right! He's waking up."

Sherriff Graham was there as well, he turned around as he heard us approach, "Kids, you should stay back." He came towards us, stopping us from getting any closer to the room.

"What's going on?" asked Ms. Blanchard concerned, "Is it John Doe? Is he okay."

"Is he dead?" Kristalyn and I asked at the same time.

"He's missing." Explained Sherriff Graham.

"How on earth do you lose a person?" I questioned.

Sherriff Graham stepped aside giving us a full view of Mayor Mills who was in John Doe's room. Seeing us there did not make her look happy. She strode out of the room and approached us. "What the hell are you doing here?"

She grabbed Henry's arm, "And you," she said, "I thought you were at the arcade with…Jack" she looked up at me briefly, "A hospital? A bit inappropriate for a date isn't it."

I was confused by her statement until I looked down at my hands. Somehow without my acknowledgement my hand had found its way around Kristalyn's own hand. I felt myself turn bright red in embarrassment, I pulled my hand away Kristalyn did the same also turning a bright shade of red. By the way she looked at me I could tell she did not notice we were holding hands either. "Ah, she is not my girlfriend."

Mayor Mills was obviously more concerned about Henry, for as soon as I said this she turned her attention back to him. "Now you're lying to me?"

"What happened to John Doe?" asked Ms. Blanchard, "Did someone take him?"

"We don't know yet," explained Sherriff Graham, "His IVs were ripped out, but there's no sign for sure there was a struggle."

"What did you do?" said Henry accusing Mayor Mills.

"You think I had something to do with this?" asked Mayor Mills obviously hurt by this statement.

"It is curious that the Mayor is here." Said Emma.

"I'm here because I'm his emergency contact."

"You know him?" Asked Ms. Blanchard.

"Then how is he still a John Doe?" Kristalyn questioned.

"I found him on the side of the road years ago with no ID.," explained Mayor Mills, "I brought him here."

Dr. Whale came over to us, "Mayor Mills saved his life."

"Will he be okay?" asked Ms. Blanchard quickly.

"Okay? The man's been on feeding tubes for years, under constant supervision," said Dr. Whale, 'He needs to get back here right away or, quite honestly, 'Okay' might be a pipe dream."

"Well then let's quite yappin' and start looking," said Emma turning to walk out.

"That's what we're doing?" questioned Mayor Mills, "Just stay out of this, dear."

"There is a man missing, you need all the help you can." I said.

"Quite Gold." She spat at me. She turned her attention back to Emma, "And since I clearly can't keep you away from my son, I guess I'm just going to have to keep my son away from you." Mayor Mills grabbed Henry by the hand and started to leave, she looked at Emma as she walked past, "Enjoy my shirt, because that's all you're getting." She turned back to the Sherriff Graham, "Sherriff, find John Doe, you heard Dr. Whale, time is precious." They left the hospital wing.

"Doctor, how long between your rounds since you last saw him?" questioned the Sherriff.

"Twelve hours or so," answered Dr. Whale.

"Then that's what we need to account for," said Sherriff Graham.

Kristalyn and I stepped forward, "How we can help?"

"You two lovebirds can go home, this is no place for children."

"I am not a child." I said defiantly, "And she is not my girlfriend!"

"Just go home Jack, or I'll call your father to make you." Sighed the Sherriff.

I could not argue with that, Kristalyn and I turned around and walked out of the hospital defeated. We were a few feet away when she said, "I suppose now would be a good time to talk to you about why I want to help with Cobra?"

"Yeah I suppose." I said looking at her; I felt a slight pressure on my fingers. Looking down I saw that once again holding her hand. I let go, "Sorry about that."

"It's okay," said Kristalyn, "Actually I believe what I have to tell you may explain why you keep doing that."

Together we walked together to a bench outside of Town Hall, we sat together in silence for a few seconds before I said, "Okay spill."

"Every night for over a week I have been having the same dream," she began, "You are in it."

"So you dream about me," I said nodding, "That is just as creepy as the following."

"Hey it's not like I want to dream about you," she explained, "Though now may be a good time to admit that I do have the slightest bit of a crush on you."

I chuckled uneasily, "Really?" that was a coincidence.

"No need to laugh," scolded Kristalyn, "Just my feelings you know."

"That is not why I am laughing." I said quickly, "You see I kind of like you too."

"You're kidding." Gasped Kristalyn, "Seriously."

"Yeah," I said, this got awkward, "What is that dream exactly."

"I do not think I should tell you." Said Kristalyn.

"But isn't that the whole reason you wanted to talk to me in the first place?"

"Yes, however I think you too will remember in time."

"How do you know that?" I asked.

"I know that your memories are returning," she replied, "I hope that what I have been seeing, you will remember someday."

"Wouldn't be easier if you just tell me?"

"Perhaps," she shrugged, "But like I said, I like you, I don't want our relationship to be based on things we can't even remember."

"Good point," I said, "So can I interest you in something to eat sometime."

"Sure I would like that."

Kristalyn and I spent the next few hours just talking on that bench. We exchanged phone numbers, since she was now officially part of Operation Cobra, might as well have a way to contact her. It was amazing to find how much we had in common, we were both homeschooled, same favorite movie genre, hell even we shared the same favorite ice cream flavor (family owns an ice cream shop yet her favorite flavor is just plain old chocolate).

It was getting dark when my phone went off in my pocket, "Do you mind if I take this?"

"Not at all." She replied.

I did not even bother to look at the caller ID before I picked up my phone, "Hello?"

"Where are you, is Kristalyn with you?" asked Henry's voice.

"At town hall and yes she is with me." I answered.

"Okay stay there I am on my way."

"Wait what?"

"I am on my way, we are going to go help find John Doe."

"Okay see you in a few minutes then." I said hanging up.

"Who was that?" asked Kristalyn.

"Henry, he is meeting us here, looks like we ARE joining the man hunt for John Doe."

A/N: AH! Nothing like a new chapter upload. Sorry that this has a GIANT cliché in it with Jack and Kristalyn….you all know what is going to happen but there is a reason why Jack does what he does subconsciously as alluded to here with the mentioning of Kristalyn's dream. This is our first chapter with my new layout which is why it is somewhat longer than previous chapters. May be a little while before I update again for many reasons; 1. I need to write more chapters in the fic, 2. I need to catch up on QUAT before the second half of season three, 3. I have some school work to do that I NEED to get done…. Mainly reason 3 though. Feel free to leave a review or two, follow and fav too. As always questions are also welcomed! See you all soon!
