CHAPTER 1
INVASION OF BARKINGBURG
Barkingburg City
Capital of the Principality of Barkingburg
June 2nd, 2016
6:00 AM
I walk on. I resist as much as I can. They are coming in from the sky.
The calm morning in Barkingburg was interrupted, as aircraft roared above the city, and people looked up in the skies to see the metal behemoths, followed by their hungry roars. Then, explosions. The bridge the led to the castle was struck by multiple bombs, exploding in a fire inferno, and causing the middle of the bridge to collapse. Screams of scared children and adults alike rang in the city streets, as many ducked for cover or ran in an attempt to avoid getting strafed. At Yeka Air Force Base merely twenty miles south of the city, the PAW Patrol was participating in a training operation with the 128th Fighter-Intercept Squadron, colloquially known as "Skyward Squadron". Their intention was to join them under the request of Princess Lilliana, following the events between the Duke of Flappington, Sebastian, and the PAW Patrol during their previous encounter in 2015; during the first invasion of Barkingburg, so as to be the first to respond if another attack ever occurred. Tensions before the attack on the capital were rising for the past few weeks, over a slew of economic and political issues.
In the air, their Jet to the Rescue aircraft were equipped with two air-to-air missiles each, and their guns loaded with only a few dozen rounds. Their lead pilot was Taeyeon, the head of the squadron, but currently the only one in the air with a proper jet; the F-15C, so the capabilities of the other's aircraft was quite limited. As they flew, a transmission came about on their radio, it was from the General. General Mackenzie.
"Attention pilots currently in the air. If you are receiving this message, you must divert to Barkingburg City immediately. A few dozen bandits were located in the capital. They have appeared to have originated from the Grand Duchy of Flappington. If you come into contact with them, you are free to engage once AWACS gives you the clear to engage. Everyone is connected to AWACS Sky Defender, he will be helping you in the defense of our capital!" The transmission stopped, as Taeyeon, the lead pilot of the squadron, along with the members of the PAW Patrol that were in the air with her, (Skye, Chase, Marshall, and Zuma), began to divert to the war torn city. Taeyeon in question was a Eurasian wolf, a rarity, especially in Barkingburg's times. But it didn't mean she wasn't willing to fight. Because she was.
"Skyward 1 flying into the AO, along with our trainees. We are here to defend Barkingburg!" She furiously shouted, a hint of her foreign accent shining through. She then formed up into a Vic formation with her wingpups.
"This is AWACS Sky Defender. Everyone in the AO, regroup for a defense south of the city. You are to cover for ALL civilians to evacuate in the next thirty minutes that we can muster. All non-allied aircraft will be blipped on your IFF identification as an enemy. We are estimating twenty bandits in the AO. Weapons free, you're clear to engage!" He ordered, as all the aircraft began to converge on the city.
"Alright Skye, Chase, Marshall, and Zuma. Break from the formation, and defend the city with your life." Taeyeon commanded, breaking from formation.
"Copy that Skyward 1." The others said in unison, breaking off. This was going to the be the test of all they had learned in the past few weeks before the abrupt attack. Taeyeon launched a AIM-9 Sidewinder at a nearby Flappington F-4 Phantom, as it exploded in flames and crashed into a nearby skyscraper. Chase and Marshall teamed up to down a large TU-160, expending one of their missiles each on the bomber, as it started to lose altitude. They ascended to the same altitude, and saluted each other, their determination still visible even through the mask. Skye tailed down a F-11F naval fighter, successfully shooting it down with her guns as Zuma launched a missile at an SU-27 flying nearby.
"Yeah! Woo hoo!" Chase howled, followed by Skye, Zuma, and Marshall howling in unison. They merged back into a Vic formation. However, the numbers began to get increasingly larger, as their defense extended for another 30 minutes. A transmission came over everyone's radio, it was once again from General Mackenzie.
"All pilots in the AO, you've been ordered to give up Barkingburg City." Everyone was shocked. They could resist the attack! R-right?
"Hey! We can do this! Did we give up some of our best pilots for nothing!?" One male pilot exclaimed.
"You're nuts!" Another hastily replied.
"Listen!" General Mackenize began. "The plan is to withdrawal, and converge with all remaining forces and start a counter-offensive. We will be back!" He explained, as everyone began to retreat out of the city in the AO.
Yeka Air Force Base had already been mobilized, and were awaiting their return. Ryder nervously tapped his leg, just waiting on the ATC's radio for their voices. Then, the sound of jet engines. After a brief second of hearing the engines race by, he heard Taeyeon's voice.
"This is Skyward 1, we are requesting a landing at runway 1R. Everyone is alive and well." She chuckled.
"Phew!" Ryder sighed in relief. "You are clear for landing, lower your airspeed and make a safe landing you five." As they all landed, their ground crew took their aircraft in for maintenance, while Taeyeon debriefed them on the situation.
9:00 PM
Princess Lilliana was on the news later that night. Denouncing the attacks by Sebastian's air forces, and the capture of their capital. As everyone gasped, she looked directly at the cameras, with occasional flashes, speaking into the microphone.
"Earlier today, our capital was attacked by Flappington forces. We've unfortunately had to retreat, but with minimal causalities. To all Barkingburg pilots, your people are counting on you. We are in your hands and paws over Barkingburg."
This was the start of yet another war. How long it'd last is debatable, but everyone knew that things would be much harder from here on out.

I'd firstly like to apologize for not posting on Fanfiction for a while. I had a lot of stuff going on. If you are wondering why some of my fanfictions have been deleted/removed, it is because I've decided to start new stories, and this time continue them. You'll see more disappear in the future, but they might come back eventually!
