"Attention students, to celebrate Johnson High School's 100th anniversary, I'm inviting students to come on a field trip to Oddworld!" Principal Malcolm announced over the intercom. All the students in my class yelled out in celebration before our teacher silenced them. I wasn't really that excited about the field trip to be honest. I visited the place a while back and loved the place but now, it just seems too kiddy for me. ""Unfortunately, though..." Principal Malcolm continued, "Only the students with high grades can attend the field trip." Everyone in the class instantly groaned as he said this.
Leave it to Principal Malcolm to suck the joy out of anything fun.
For the rest of the week, the students in the 9th to 12th grades tried to raise their grades. Luckily for me, I was already an A+ student in most of my classes, so I wasn't really worried about attending the trip.
Not that I wanted to anyway. I was really just going for one reason: Whitney Baker. She's the most popular girl in school and my crush.
By the end of the week, a large number of kids, including me and Whitney, were able to attend the trip. I knew a few of those kids, like Arnold Horseman, one of the smartest 9th graders in high school. We all boarded the bus and started to drive off. I wanted Whitney to sit by me so we could possibly get to know each other and maybe get closer to each other. But instead, she ended up sitting next to her boyfriend, Rick Barrack, an average, arrogant jock. The trip was a few hours long, but eventually I could see the theme park approaching in the distance. The colorful lights emanating from the park illuminated the now-darkened sky.
We suddenly made a sharp turn, causing me, the adults, and the rest of the kids to slide to the side. One of the teachers chaperoning yelled at the driver to be careful, but he just ignored them. The road we were taking was really dangerous; the bus was constantly turning or swerving. Suddenly, just as the teacher warned, the bus tipped over and completely fell over, crashing into the ground. Everyone screamed and was tossed around the bus; some people even flew out the windows. I tried to hang on to the seat as the bus flipped over, but I was knocked out when I crashed into one of the windows. All around us were unconscious and injured people, and fire was spreading around us. As blood poured from my head, I could feel myself and many other kids getting slowly pulled away. I couldn't see the figures pulling us away, and soon I passed out.
