No, your eyes are not deceiving you, haha, I've updated twice in one week. I know! Shocker, right? Well, like I said last chapter, their breakup was a tough hurdle to get over, but now that it's done you should be seeing regular updates from me from now on.

Thank you to ALL my betas, klarolineepiclove, approvesomuch, livingdeadblondequeen, a-little-blonde-distraction.

A lot of you voiced your opinions on the fairness of the argument. Whose fault is it? Well, they're both wrong one way or the other. They're prideful and stubborn, and so much a like, which is why we love them!

Enjoy!

We all have those moments where we wish we could go back in time. Back to before we said that stupid thing or acted a certain way. We hurt people with our word vomit and make mistakes, as all humans do, but we're never quite prepared for the consequences. We certainly aren't thinking of the consequences when we're indulging in that ooey gooey hot fudge sundae, saying that awful thing to someone we care about, or hooking up with that person who feels good but is just so bad for you. It's part of life and a pretty crappy part, in fact. But it doesn't end there. Our decisions after the mess we made are what keep us going. Unfortunately for Klaus, his immediate reaction to Caroline's alleged tryst, with Matthew Donovan, has placed a high wall between the two of them.

Klaus is stewing. He has been for days. When he's not working up front, he's locked away in his office sketching new ideas for his comic book and trying to keep his mind off of Caroline. If he doesn't keep busy then he keeps replaying the scene over and over again. It was the last time that he saw her, except for an awkward encounter when they ran into each other walking to their shops from opposite directions. He moved to speak to her but she didn't give him a chance and scurried away and into her store. After that he spiraled down. Chalk their argument up to sleep deprivation or pride or just the Mikaelson temper, but he was wrong and he knew it, and Rebekah was nice enough to fill him in on how wrong he actually was.

"You're an idiot, Klaus."

"Why do people keep saying that?" He throws his head back and runs his hands down his face.

Rebekah picks up her cup of coffee and takes a sip. She scoots back into the comfy chair in Klaus' office and sighs. "You are aware that nothing actually happened between Caroline and Matt, right?"

"And how would you know that? You weren't there."

"Actually I was...remember? I was with them the entire night, up until he was gentlemanly enough to walk me to Bonnie's car. There was no flirting between him and Caroline, there was no hand holding or eye fucking going on between the two of them. He was too busy doing that with me."

Klaus' head snaps up at the sound of Rebekah's declaration, and she gingerly takes a sip from her tea and plays coy.

"He even gave me his phone number before he left and was almost a sickly perfect gentleman about it. Wouldn't even consider taking me home and having his way-"

"Ugh. Okay!" Klaus interrupts and puts his hands in the air to stop her from going any further. "And so what? He didn't go home with you, he went home with Caroline!"

Rebekah sits up and places her elbows on her knees to lean forward closer to him. "Do you want to know why else I know nothing happened between them?"

"Please...indulge me," he tells her and goes back to his sketchbook.

"Because Caroline was too busy that night telling us that she loved you."

Klaus' pencil tip snaps in two as Rebekah's words hit him. He doesn't look at her right away, instead he stares at the dark graphite line he just streaked across the face of his newest comic book character. He's not sure how to process this new information. At one point it was the answer to a question he's been curious about since he realized he was in love himself, but on the other, the guilt that washes over him makes the words he spewed at her even more devastating.

"Oh God…" he mumbles to himself.

"Yeah," Rebekah agrees, knowing that he's now realizing the error in his ways.

"I am an idiot!" he declares and drops his forehead to the table where he proceeds to repeatedly hit it over and over again. "Why am I such an idiot Rebekah?"

"Because you didn't even give her a chance to explain. You just assumed that she did something horrible because you're so afraid that you can't have good things in your life. That you're not worthy of the love and attention that Caroline was so willing to give you."

"That's not true," Klaus says and lifts his head from the table finally turning his attention back to his sister. "I've got my shop and my family."

"Yes, because those are exactly the same thing as Caroline," she responds sarcastically.

Klaus closes his eyes and sighs heavily. "What do I do?"

Rebekah unfolds herself from the chair and sets her empty coffee mug down on the table. "Beats me," she shrugs, "but you better do something, or you're gonna lose her Klaus."

He looks down at his drawing and begins to erase the dark streak. "Where are you off to?" he mumbles to her as Bekah makes her way to the door.

"I have a date with Jeremy."

"He's finally decided to take you out in public, I see?"

Rebekah laughs and folds her sweater across her arm. It's true, she's been playing along with Jeremy's laidback attitude about their relationship. But a girl can only have sex so much before she wants the guy to buy her dinner.

"Let's just say Jeremy's stepped up his game since I casually mentioned that Matt called me the other day," she says.

"Did he actually call?"

"Does it matter?"

Klaus smirks and his shoulders shrug in amusement. "Oh Rebekah, I feel pity for any man who doesn't give you what you want."

"I'll take that as a compliment," she rebuttals and slides out the door leaving Klaus to his sketch, which coincidentally has started to resemble a familiar face.

When Kat finds Caroline she's right where she left her an hour ago. She's at the same table, working on the same display and mumbling to herself about how "something's missing." She doesn't even acknowledge the caramel frappuccino that Kat was nice enough to pick up for her on her way back to the shop.

"Earth to Care!"

"What?" Caroline hears her name but doesn't look up.

"I got you a treat," Kat says and swings the tasty drink to entice her away from the table. When she still doesn't respond Kat sets their coffees on the table and makes her way to the back. She's known her long enough now to understand what makes Caroline tick. If she's in the zone, it's best to leave her be.

A moment later Kat returns and the condensation around the bottom of the cup clues her into Caroline's disinterest.

"Caroline?!" she shouts.

"What?!" She throws back and snaps her head up to look at her friend.

"Step away from the panties and come enjoy your damn treat!"

Caroline takes one last look at the mess she's created and reluctantly walks away. "Fine, but then you gotta help me figure this stupid table out."

"Caroline, you had that table figured out an hour ago." Kat pulls up the other stool so the girls can both sit. "I know what you're doing, you know."

"What am I doing?" Caroline asks and takes her first sip of her frozen coffee. She's not in the mood for smiles but she can't help it when the blended coffee and caramel hit her tongue. She's been craving simple pleasures recently, anything to keep her mind off of Klaus. So she rearranges the tables over and over again, flips through catalogs and picks out things she'd like to buy. She indulges in a few more pieces of chocolate than her waistline should handle, and don't even get her started on the amount of empty Pringles cans that are in her garbage at home. She's a mess and she knows it.

Thank goodness for Kat, who always seems to come to her aid whenever she starts to spiral down. She's lost track of how many nights Kat's stayed at her house, indulging in all the break up cliches - take out, Ben & Jerry's, and slasher movies. The bloodier the better. She still spends an ample amount of time with Elijah, and Caroline's okay with that. She and Klaus may not be together anymore but she certainly doesn't want to deter Kat from enjoying herself with Elijah.

"How you doing today?"

"I'm alright," Caroline takes another sip.

"Let's go out tonight," Kat suggests. "I feel like we haven't been out of the shop or your apartment in forever, plus I really want to see the new Thor movie."

"I don't know, I have a lot of inventory-"

"No you don't," Kat calls her out on her lie before she can finish her sentence. "We're young, we're free of any obligations, and Chris Hemsworth is calling my name."

"Mmm, Chris Hemsworth," Caroline coos when she thinks of the bronzed Australian god. Hot and muscled guys are another remedy to a broken heart.

"Yeah," Kat joins Caroline in her state of reverie, and the two girls spend a moment in la-la land until the front doorbell chimes and Rebekah saunters inside.

Caroline loves Rebekah, but sometimes seeing her only makes her think of him. They share similar features - blue eyes, and a cheeky smile - which can make being around her sometimes unbearable. She can sense that Rebekah knows this too and her presence in the shop has been less and less as time has gone by.

"Hello, ladies," she smiles and closes the door behind her. "I hope you're not busy."

The girls look around the room, their last customer left a moment ago and Caroline was just about to close up shop.

"No, we are just enjoying an end of the day treat," Kat gestures to her coffee. "What's up?"

"I've been implored to tell you that your package has arrived next door," she tells Kat.

"Oh good, I was wondering when that was going to get here." She jumps off her stool and heads for the door.

"What did you order from the comic book shop?" Caroline asks.

"Something for Jeremy. It's his birthday next week and he's been eyeing a new gaming mouse. The boys were able to get it for me at a pretty hefty discount."

Katherine leaves the two girls alone as she scurries next door and Caroline immediately returns to her display table. Rebekah falls back for a moment, trying to find the right words to begin a conversation she's been wanting to have but trying her best to stay away from. It isn't really her place, and although she's comfortable talking to Klaus and telling him just how it is, Caroline is a completely different story.

"How- how have you been?" she hesitantly asks and saunters over to the display table next to Caroline.

"Good." Caroline says a bit too quickly.

"Good," Rebekah repeats and begins to fold a pair of panties in front of her. "I just ask because...well...I haven't seen you much and I know it's weird that I'm Klaus' sister but I consider you a friend and-" She tapers off after Caroline flinches at Klaus' name. She closes her eyes and decides to leave her be. "I'm sorry, I'm sure I'm the last person you want to talk to about this."

"It's fine. I'm sure you have your concerns, and if I were the same Caroline I was years ago, I'd probably would have found you immediately and talked your ear off. I'd want to know what he's thinking? How he's doing? Does he miss me?"

"And now?"

"Now I just say why bother? I've learned my lesson. When a relationship doesn't work out, you just let it go and move on."

It's a cold answer, but Caroline doesn't care. She knows Rebekah's intentions are good, and that she wants to tell her all the things that Caroline is wondering about Klaus, but she can't. She doesn't want to know. She wants to go on with her life, just as she always has.

Rebekah nods her head in understanding. "I'm probably overstepping, but history has shown that I'm not the best at keeping my nose out of things," she chuckles and sets the pair of panties she was folding down. "Do you mind if I use your loo?" she asks and points her thumb to the back of the room.

"Sure," Caroline smiles widely.

Rebekah leaves Caroline to her display and walks toward the back of the store. She hesitates a moment, and although she knows she should just stay out of it she decides against it. "He does miss you."

It's a simple statement, but holds so much weight. The curiosity that Caroline's been harboring about how Klaus has been doing has been satiated, but it hurts her as well. She's not quite sure how to respond so she just nods at Rebekah and turns back to her table display.

She listens to the click of Rebekah's heels disappear down the hallway and tries to concentrate on what's in front of her. It's no use, even the smallest mention of his name has her heart aching all over again. The tears begin to pool and threaten to fall when she shakes her head and runs her fingers under her eyes, careful not to smudge her make-up.

Why did she have to tell her that? She was doing just fine, she tries to tell herself. Does Rebekah think she's helping? He doesn't want her anymore. He may miss her but he made it pretty clear that he wasn't willing to listen to her. She should've told him about Matt, she knows this, but when something doesn't bother her she suspects that it won't bother anyone else.

Obviously she was wrong.

She contemplates it a bit longer, holding back tears and trying to get it together before Rebekah returns.

"Snap out of it, Forbes," she reprimands herself.

Caroline wouldn't be Caroline if she didn't feel a little guilt at how she reacted toward Rebekah. It's not her fault that her brother is a complete moron. She's been a good friend and Caroline decides to make the most of it. Perhaps Rebekah would like to join her and Kat at the movies. The thought of Chris Hemsworth again, has Caroline looking forward to a night on the town, and a break from the monotony of another can of Pringles.

Kat plows through the doorway of the comic book shop, chestnut curls bouncing here and there. She's grown accustomed to the awkward looks from the shop's unique clientele and makes her way to the front where she finds Bonnie and Kol. They don't acknowledge her at first, they're too wrapped up in each other to notice her at the front counter.

"Have I told you today how beautiful you are?" Kol asks Bonnie and runs his fingers through her hair.

"No, not yet," she purrs back and inches closer to his face. "Tell me."

"You're beautiful, and remarkable, and there isn't another girl in the world that makes me-"

"Ahem!" Kat clears her throat, breaking up the nauseating display in front of her. "Seriously, can you two refrain from the coupley crap for two seconds?"

"Not you too. It's bad enough that we have to watch ourselves in front of Depresso in there," Kol points to Klaus' office. "What's your problem, anyway?"

"Nothing," Kat says and rolls her eyes. "You have a package for me?"

"Hey now, hold it right there, I'm with Bonnie now," he simulates offense. "I don't think it's appropriate of you to be asking about my package, Kitty Kat."

Kat smirks and scrunches up her face, letting him know she's still not amused with his anecdotes. Bonnie rolls her eyes and jabs him in the ribs with her elbow.

"Really, Kol? Really?!"

"What?! She left the door wide open with that one? Did you really think that I wouldn't walk right through it?" Kol throws an arm around Bonnie and kisses her on the cheek. "Besides, you know my package is reserved only for you."

Bonnie laughs and jabs him again. "It better be."

"This is a super fun conversation but I still need my package," Kat interjects with annoyance.

"I'll go get it," Bonnie chimes in and goes to the back to retrieve Kat's item. Kol watches her leave, appreciating the way her hips move and how her small frame fits into her jeans. As Bonnie goes in, Elijah comes out, and Kat greets him with a small smile.

"Hello Katerina," he says and moves his way to the other side of the counter to embrace her.

"Hey," she says shyly and gives him a light peck on the cheek.

The pair of them made up quickly after the day Klaus and Caroline broke up. It's hard to stay mad at Elijah, especially when he can be so clueless sometimes. Kat spends a moment looking at him, just looking. He's so handsome and beyond kind to her, even when she doesn't deserve it.

"I was going to call you later to see if you would like to accompany me to dinner tonight."

"That sounds nice, but I have plans with Caroline."

"Another time then," he tells her. "Would you still be able to come to my apartment afterward?"

"Booty call!"

"Shut up, Kol," Kat scolds him and turns back to Elijah, "We'll see, okay? I'll give you a call when we're done."

Bonnie comes out of the office with Kat's package in hand and places it on the counter. "Here you go."

"Thanks." Kat grabs the package and slides it under her arm. She reaches on her tippy toes to give Elijah another quick kiss goodbye. "I'll talk to you later?"

"Of course," he nods and watches her as she goes.

He's been with Katerina for a while now, and although they've had their spats and she can be quite confusing at times, she's never been anything more than outspoken on how she feels. But today, she seems off. Elijah can't help but worry that Caroline and Klaus' break up has possibly put a strain on their relationship. He places his hand in his pocket for a moment before straightening his tie and turning toward Kol. He goes to ask Kol what he thinks but he's already returned to giving all his attention to Bonnie. Alone in his contemplation, once more, Elijah stalks toward the back row of comics where the fearless crusader is sure to distract him from the matter at hand.

Caroline gives up on the table, knowing that in her state of mind, it'll never be right. She leaves it be and goes back to her frappuccino. It's silly to continue living like this. She's survived break ups before, there's nothing different about this one then the others. At least that's what she tries to convince herself. She knows this one's harder. She knows that being with Klaus has altered her way of thinking about relationships, and she knows that from here on out, he will always be a part of her life.

"Caroline?!" Rebekah screeches her name and Caroline snaps her head toward the crazy girl as she storms out of the back.

"What?" Caroline asks a bit annoyed that this is the second time someone has yelled her name to get her attention.

"What is this?"

Rebekah races forward with something in her hand but Caroline can't quite make out what it is.

"What is what?"

"This!" Rebekah slaps the item down on the counter. A long plastic stick is in front of her, with not one but two bright pink lines staring up at her.

"Is that a-"

"A pregnancy test! A positive pregnancy test!" Rebekah shouts and Caroline can't tell if she's angry or excited. "Are you pregnant, Caroline?!"

It takes Caroline a moment to register what's happening. She stares at the stick for a little longer before quietly saying, "No. That's not mine."

The two girls look at each other, both trying to process what's going on.

"Well if it's not yours then whose is it?"

The front bell chimes again and Kat enters the room. "Kol and Bonnie are seriously starting to gross me out. You guys should see how they fawn all over each-" Kat stops her rambling when she notices the two girls staring at her, shock and awe written on their faces.

"What?"
