Chapter 17

John Doe was placed on stretcher and loaded into the ambulance within seconds after it arrived. Ms. Blanchard was allowed to go in the Ambulance with him, while the rest of us crowed into a vehicle that had followed the ambulance here. We sped down the roads that led to the hospital, no sooner than we arrived outside of the emergency room did the staff have John Doe's stretcher out of the ambulance and being wheeled into the building.

We all followed him as he was brought in all the way, until we were told that we were told we couldn't go any further and were cut off by glass doors. The doctors were rushing to treat John Doe who was quite confused by the entire situation.

A blonde woman pushed past us and rushed into the room, "David?" she sounded deeply concerned, "David, is that you?"

"Excuse me, ma'am," said Dr. Whale.

"Oh, my God," said the blonde woman.

"Ma'am you can't be in here," said Dr. Whale, "Please, you can't be here right now." He started to pull the woman away from John Doe, "You can't be here, ma'am, Can you wait over here for a second?"

"Who is that?" asked Ms. Blanchard.

"His wife," answered the mayor's voice behind us.

We turned to face the mayor staring at her in disbelief, "Wait a second, John Doe's married?" I asked. We sat down in nearby chairs all except Ms. Blanchard who continued to stare at John Doe in concern

"His name is David Nolan," explained Mayor Mills, "and that's his wife, Kathryn. And the joy on her face? Well, it's put me in quite the forgiving mood."

"Mayor Mills we were only trying to help." I explained trying to cover for Henry.

She ignored my comment as usual and turned her attention to Henry, "We'll talk about your insubordination later. Do you know what insubordination means?" Henry shook his head no, "It means you're grounded."

Kristalyn tapped me on the shoulder, "I am going to go call my parents. I'll be back."

"Alright," I answered watching as she got up and walked away into the hallway.

The blonde woman named Kathryn came out of the room and came up to Ms. Blanchard a grateful sympathetic look on her face, "Thank you. Thank you for finding my David"

"Um, I don't understand," questioned Ms. Blanchard, "You didn't…You didn't know that he was here in a coma?"

"A few years ago, David and I were not getting along," she explained, "It was my fault. I know that now. I was difficult and unsupportive, I told him if he didn't like things, he could leave, and he did. And I didn't stop him. It was the worst mistake I ever made."

"You didn't go look for him?" asked Emma.

"I assumed he left town all this time." Kathryn explained, "Now I know why I never heard from him. Now, I get to do what I've wanted to do forever, say I'm sorry. Now we got a second chance."

"That's wonderful." Said Ms. Blanchard, I could tell she was lying through her teeth.

Dr. Whale came out of the room to give us an update, "Well, it's something of a miracle."

"He's okay?" Kathryn asked.

"Physically, he's on the mend. His memory is another issue," explained Dr. Whale, "It may take time, if at all."

"What brought him back?" asked Ms. Blanchard.

"That's the thing, there's no explanation. Something just clicked in him."

"He just got up and decided to go for a stroll?" questioned Emma.

"Do coma patients usually do that?" I asked.

"He woke up and he was delirious," Dr. Whale explained, "And his first instinct was to go find something, I guess."

"Someone," commented Henry.

"Can I see him?" asked Kathryn.

"Yes," answered Dr. Whale opening the door for her. Kristalyn came back to the room and came up to me.

"Can you walk me home now?" she asked.

I got up from my chair, "Of course, I should be getting home too anyway. Bye everyone."

"Bye Jack," said Henry, "I'll call you when I can." The mayor stared at us as if to say that it would not b for awhile.

Kristalyn and I walked out of the hospital, "So where do you live."

"Above the Ice Cream parlor."

"Alright then." I said.

"So how is Mr. Nolan?"

"According to Dr. Whale he is fine," I explained filling her in, "At least physically, he seems to have an intense case of amnesia."

"That's horrible." Said Kristalyn.

"Yeah, it is." I replied.

"You are doing it again you know?" said Kristalyn.

"Doing what?"

"Holding my hand."

"Oh," I said releasing her hand, "Sorry about that."

"It's okay," she said, she took my hand again, "I do not mind."

"Listen I'm sorry about not being able to help explain that dream of yours."

"It's alright," Kristalyn said, "Like I said, I am sure you will remember in time."

"I hope so," I said, "I just hope I start remembering more in general."

"Is there any way I can help?"

"No, I don't think so."

"Think and know, are two different things you know?"

"Suppose that means you are going to try to help me any way?"

"You bet I am," she said, "After all aren't you trying to figure out who, um, Rumpelstiltskin is?"

"Yes, I feel that he may be a key part in the whole curse thing," I explained, "He is the one who made the curse in the first place so if it is weakening I think he will be in the very center of it."

"Understandable." Kristalyn said stopping, "Well here is my stop."

"Well then." I said letting go of her hand, "I'll see you soon."

"Yes, yes you will" said Kristalyn opening the door next to the main door to the parlor, "Bye Jack.

"Bye Kristalyn," I said waving.

"You can call me Krista, if you like," she said before closing and locking the door.

"Krista." I repeated. I stared at the door for a few seconds after she left watching as before my eyes I saw what appeared to be images of snowflakes flutter in front of me. A mysterious cold breeze blew, I blinked several times and the snowflakes disappeared as the breeze disappeared.

A/N: Hey everyone! Sorry about the very, very, very long wait for this chapter. But due to a mix of events, I couldn't find time to work on this fic. But don't worry it is still being written, although its still is in the Season 1 of writing. I have been productive though figuring out backstories that have had to be changed many times, I believe I finally have it down pact to something that will not have to be changed. With the next few chapters you shall see some of my favorite parts of the story that I have written. So with that in mind…what do you think, ideas, suggestions, predictions?
