Ch 2
Goten was spending the day with his fiancé, his mother Chichi, and Valese's mom, Ginger. He could tell how excited they all were about the wedding, and he was dragged into the wedding plans as they went for a cake tasting. Not that he was complaining. He loved food. Afterwards, they all settled down in a café.
"I'm so happy for our children that they could find love in each other," said Ginger to Chichi.
"Me to, I just can't wait until they start a family. There is nothing better than being a grandmother. Well accept being a mother that is," said Chichi.
"Whoa, mom don't you think you're rushing things a bit?" asked Goten.
"Nonsense honey, there's nothing wrong with looking towards the future."
"Your mom's right Goten," said Valese as she smiled at her fiancé. "I can't wait to start a family with you."
Goten smiled as she leaned into kiss him and before he could get to her lips, he saw his best friend on TV coming out of a hospital. He pulled back from her, "I'm sorry," he said as he rushed outside the café, his mother yelling at him to come back as he took off into the sky at full speed. As he was flying, he decided to use a technique he had been practicing. Putting a finger to his forehead, he closed his eyes, concentrated on where his friend's ki was, and disappeared from the sky.
Trunks and his family were surrounded by paparazzi as they walked out of the hospital to the limo parked on the sidewalk. Before they could get to the car, Goten popped up right in front of Trunks. "Goten," was all he managed to say.
The raven-haired man smiled. "Hey Trunks, I came as soon as I saw you on TV. What happened?"
"Maybe now is not the time to talk," said Trunks.
"He's right, lets all get into the car," said Bulla.
Once inside the car, Bulma smiled. "It's so good to see you Goten. We heard about your engagement, congratulations."
"Thanks Bulma," he smiled but as his gaze fell onto his best friend, he frowned. "Trunks," he said in a soft tone, "what's going on?"
"It's nothing to worry about. I've just been working so hard. I fainted, but I'm all right. Mom is going to give me some time off. Unfortunately I have no say in the matter."
"Well, that's great Trunks. Now you can be a part of my wedding."
"I don't know Goten. I haven't exactly been around, and I've met Valese one time."
"This can be your chance to get to know her, and we can reconnect Trunks. I mean I've missed you."
The guy knew how to pull at Trunks' heartstrings. "I—I've missed you to Goten," he smiled. "I would be more than happy to be apart of your wedding."
"You're the best Trunks," he said as he hugged Trunks.
Suddenly Trunks felt alive inside. His mere touch set him on fire, a fire he never wanted to leave him but he had to as coldness swept back into him when Goten let go of him.
"I know," Trunks smirked with a cocky attitude.
Goten rolled his eyes. "Some things never change do they Trunks?"
