(Elizabeth's point of view)
I returned to work this morning. I got ready super early. Francis was waiting at the door. I told Francis I would be returning to work. I also would be returning to my classes full-time.
I took back my normal shifts at work. My first was my early Monday morning shift. I felt good as I walked out the door. I felt like myself for the first time in a long time.
Francis and I joked around on the way to Kelly's. I saw Sonny and Jason waiting inside. I smiled and shook my head. Then I saw Steven sitting at the counter. Bobbi and Laura were there too.
"Surprise." Everyone but Jason yelled as I came in.
"Seriously?" I asked trying to hide my smile.
"Welcome back Liz." Penny said happily.
"It's good to be back." I responded honestly.
"I figured it was a little too early for real cake." Bobbi said cutting a coffee cake.
"Hey Sis I need to get back to Grams. She has therapy this morning." Steven said.
"Thank you for being here." I said hugging my big brother.
"Nikalos and Emily are sorry they couldn't be here." Laura said.
"It's okay." I said.
A short time later everyone left. The only ones still there were Penny, Jason, and I. Some of my regulars came in. They were all happy to see me. Jason slowly drinks his coffee. He seemed to be watching me. I would occasionally look over and smile.
Finally it was eleven. I had to get to class. Jason paid and then followed me out. I didn't see Francis. Johnny was there though.
"Jason I'm fine. You need to get to work." I said.
"Johnny and I are taking you to school. Milo is already there. Then I'll go to work." Jason said.
"Okay." I sighed with a laugh.
"Have a good day Elizabeth." Jason said hugging me as I got out.
"Thank you Jason." I said.
"Hello Liz. I'm Milo. It's nice to officially meet you." Milo said holding his hand out for me to shake.
"Nice to meet you too. I'm so sorry you were injured." I said.
"It's wasn't your fault." Milo said as we walked towards my first class.
My day was pretty normal other than some stares. I turned in my work. My Professor's were all nice. The told me to keep my head up. My last class everyone was whispering. I heard one girl say how she could not know he wasn't her boyfriend. I just put my head down and got ready for class.
I had another shift after my classes. Johnny picked me up. When we arrived at Kelly's Max was waiting for me. I was a little sad not to see Jason. I knew Jason was busy though.
About an hour after I started working Sonny, Carly, and Michael came in. Sonny and Michael waved. Carly nodded a little. Penny took their drink orders. Then she asked if I would wait on them. I was a little confused she said that always argue when they order. I laughed and walked over to them.
"Hi there what can I get for you?" I asked.
"I want chili." Carly answered.
"Carly no it'll give you heartburn." Sonny said to her.
"Sonny I don't care the baby wants chili with onions and cheese." Carly said.
"Sorry Sonny but if the baby wants chili I'm bringing chili." I said smiling at Carly.
"Thanks Liz." Carly said happily.
"I want chicken nuggets and fries." Michael said.
"Oh bring us a large order of cheese fries." Carly said as Michael nodded.
"This is why we don't eat out often." Sonny said making me laugh.
"Would you like your usual?" I asked Sonny.
"Yes that Turkey on wheat with sweet potatoes fries. Oh and bring some extra carrots." Sonny said.
"I'm not eating carrots Sonny." Carly said.
"Yes you are. If you want the rest you need to eat some carrots." Sonny said.
"They're good for your eyes Momma." Michael said as I walked away.
I told Penny I handled it. She looked shocked. I told her since Sonny and I were friends I could convince him. I brought Sonny, Carly, and Michael their food. I watched them for a little bit. They had truly become a family.
I had a couple come in. I waited on them. Then I went back over to Sonny, Carly, and Michael. Michael wanted some cookies for dessert. Carly looked hopeful. I told Carly that we had apple pie too. I knew it was one of her favorites. Sonny frowned at me making me laugh again.
A man came in with a delivery. It was for me. Max supplied me with a box cutter. I opened the box and screamed. Sonny came running over. Max looked into the box. Penny had run out of the kitchen. Everyone was starring.
"Is that a dead rat?" Sonny asked.
"Can you read the letter?" I asked Sonny stepping back from the box.
"Call Jason." Sonny screamed at Max.
"I already did. He's on his way." Carly said looking as ill as I felt.
"What's wrong with Liz Momma?" I heard Michael ask Carly.
"Sit down Liz." Sonny said guiding me into the seat.
"Do you want me to call the police?" Penny asked.
"No that's not necessary." Sonny answered as people quickly left.
"What's wrong Sonny. What happened?" Jason asked as everything went black.
