"Mai, you disappeared." He said when he found her in the kitchen.

Mai tried to hide the smile that was on her face at his obviousness. "Yes, I suppose I did."

"Why?"

Mai shrugged. "You weren't responding and were in some kind of daze and I got tired of standing."

"I was not in a daze." Naru denied.

"Then why weren't you responding to what I was saying?" Naru just shrugged. "See." Mai stated.

"I don't see anything." Naru said.

Mai wanted to hit her head on the counter. "No, that's not what I meant."

"And what did you mean Mai?"

"You said you didn't know why you aren't responding so I said 'see' as in you couldn't find an answer for you not saying anything so you were in a daze." Mai tried to explain.

"Actually I shrugged therefore not giving you an answer. There is a difference so there was in fact nothing to see." Mai just stared at Naru with a bored look before rolling her eyes and walking out of the kitchen. She went into the living room and sat on the sofa. She rubbed her eyes tiredly as Naru came in. He sat down on the other sofa. Mai covered her mouth with her hand as she yawned.

"You know, you really should get back to bed." Naru pointed out.

"I know...I'm just too tired to get back up." Mai practically whined. Naru shook his head. "Well I am!"

"Well, I can't help you, I'm weaker than you." Naru stated.

Mai leaned her head back against the couch. "Maybe when I get back into my body I should go to the gym or something." She joked.

"No." Naru said quickly. Mai looked at him. He cleared his throat. "What I meant is that I think you are fine the way you are, you don't need to go to the gym, besides you'd probably only hurt yourself." Mai thought what he said was kinda sweet...that is until he got to the last part. She glared at him. Naru blinked. "What?" He asked innocently. He didn't say anything wrong did he?

"I might hurt myself?!" Mai hissed. Naru closed his eyes for a moment in realization. Ohhh, so that's where he went wrong!

"Mai, I didn't...that's not what I meant." He protested.

"Then what did you mean?!"

"I meant that I wouldn't want to see you hurt."

Mai opened her mouth to retort but then took in what Naru had just said. "...I'm always hurt on cases, shouldn't be any different." Naru shook his head. "How's it different then Naru?" Naru still didn't say anything. Mai sighed. "If anything I'd get hurt more on cases than anything else I do." Naru scowled. "It's true. Right?" Naru still stayed quiet. Mai watched him for a minute before sighing. She seemed to be sighing a lot today didn't she? "Fine, ignore me. I'm going back to the bedroom." She said standing up.

"I'm not ignoring you." Naru spoke at last.

"Really now? Because you haven't said anything to what I've said in the past five minutes."

"It's not that, I just didn't know what to say."

"You could've agreed with me!" Mai exclaimed.

"Why would I agree to allowing you to get hurt?" He asked.

Mai put her hands on her hips. "You don't know if I actually would or not. You just assumed I would."

"You didn't deny you would in fact you agreed that it was possible as you get hurt on cases."

"What does it matter?! It's not like I'm actually going to do it!" She retorted.

"So now you're not going to the gym?! Five minutes ago you were all for it."

"Naru! What the hell does it matter?!" She bellowed. Naru just let out a noise of irritation and slumped into the back of the sofa, crossing his arms. Mai put her hands down and closed her eyes to try and calm down. She's being moody again! Then again...If Naru hadn't basically said she'd get hurt no matter what she did...but he did say he didn't want to see her hurt...

She decided to continue on to the bedroom to try and get some rest and think through a few things.

"I'm going back to the bedroom to rest." She told Naru quietly as she walked passed him and then went down the hall to his room. She laid down on the bed again and stared at the ceiling. She didn't know what to think about anything; she was so confused. She rolled onto her side. All she wanted to do was sleep and not think about how confusing it is with her and Naru right now. She was soon asleep and peacefully dreaming of things like being herself again and all the things she'd do when she was back.

A few hours later Naru started to gently shake her awake. "Mai..." He called softly.

"Hrmm..." Mai moaned sleepily as she rolled over. Naru began shaking her just a little harder but made sure he was a distance away after what happened last time. As predicted Mai swung an arm to try and get rid of the annoyance that was disturbing her sleep. Naru smirked. 'Predictable as always Mai.'

"Come on Mai, time to wake up."

Mai groaned and barely lifted her head up as she cracked an eye open. "Why?"

"Because it is past dinnertime and I thought you'd be hungry by now." Naru answered.

Mai slowly sat up and sleepily rubbed her eyes. "It's that time already?"

Naru nodded. "You've been asleep for four hours."

Mai sighed and swung her legs from on the bed. "Doesn't feel like it...What are we going to eat?"

"Well I thought maybe we could go out for dinner."

Mai nodded. "Okay." Sounded good to her.

"You should get changed then, your clothes are rather creased."

She lifted her eyebrows. "Okay, but I hope you know you have to change too. I am not going to have you go around as me looking like I just have a shirt on."

"Well you find me the right attire then as I can't make head nor tail of your clothes." Naru said crossing his arms.

Mai sighed and stood up. "Fine. Really! It's not hard at all to tell what's a shirt and or skirt!"

"To you maybe, but to me I don't know if you wear this stuff at night or what." Mai walked out of the bedroom and into the living room with Naru following behind. She dug through the bag of clothes she had packed for him before thrusting a few things into his hands. Naru held them out in front of him to see what they were. He raised an eyebrow.

"Are you sure these are even clothes Mai?" Naru asked. "They look like rags to me."

Mai's mouth dropped before she snatched the clothes from Naru. "They are not rags! This is one of my favorite outfits!" Mai stated. "Why do you always have to complain about my clothes?!"

"Because you're expecting me to wear them and go around looking like Lady Godiva!"

"I am not! ...Even though I don't know who that is!" Mai said after thinking about it for a second. "And as I've said before you have never said anything about me wearing these clothes, you're just being unreasonable."

"That's because I've never had to wear your clothes, now I think they're inappropriate."

Mai rolled her eyes. "Naru just please put this on. I am not going to have me walking around looking like that." She declared as she gesturing to Naru. Naru let out a growl of irritation before going to the bedroom to change.

She smiled. "Thank you!" She yelled after him. Then she remembered she had to change too. So, like Naru, she went back into the bedroom also to find some new clothes. She started digging through his closet for something to wear. 'Does all he have is black?!' She dug further into the back where she had before and found some more colourful clothing. 'Ah, finally! Now why doesn't he wear any of this?!' She pulled out a blue shirt and a pair of jeans to wear. She took her shirt off and began changing. She didn't notice Naru staring at her.

"What do you think you're doing?" Came his annoyed voice.

"Getting dressed, what's it look like?"

"Not wearing that you're not."

"And what, may I ask, is wrong with this?"

Naru stared at her with bored eyes. "Everything."

"That's not an answer Naru." Mai stated as she continued getting changed.

"No—Mai! Fine, you can wear the shirt but not the jeans."

"Naru, what is your problem with these clothes? Why do you not want me wearing colours so much?"

"I agreed to wear whatever this is," He gestured to the clothes he was wearing, completely avoiding her questions. "So you have to wear whatever I say."

"Again Naru, that is not an answer." Mai sighed. "Unless you give me a proper reason these are the clothes I will be wearing." Naru glared at her. Mai just shrugged and continued getting dressed.

"Mai." Naru warned.

Mai turned her head to look at him. "What Naru? It's only for a couple hours."

"Mai, I don't want you wearing those clothes."

"Give me a reason why." Naru looked away for a moment trying to come up with the right words. "Naru? Why don't you want me to wear them?" Naru sighed before answering. Mai had paused in her getting dressed to hear what he had to say.

"They're...they're Gene's."

"They're..." Mai broke off at the realization of what he said. "Why didn't you say so in the first place? I wouldn't have touched them if I had known." Naru just looked away again. "Naru it's okay, I understand. It's my mistake, why don't you choose some clothes for me so I don't mess up again? No black though."

Naru looked at her and smirked slightly. "The pants will be black." He stated with finality.

"Fine, black pants, but that is it." Mai conceded. Naru nodded and went over to his closest to find a shirt. He pulled out a midnight blue shirt that went with the colour of his eyes, his body's eyes that is, the ones Mai was currently sporting. He handed it to Mai even though he was reluctant to do so.

"What's the matter this time Naru, you selected the shirt yourself?" Mai sighed.

"Yes, I know but still..."

"What Naru? At this rate I might as well just go out nude!" Naru lifted his eyebrows in an amused type of way. "Oh, you'd like that would you?" She asked sarcastically as she continued to strip. Whether it was to replace her clothes with the fresh ones or whether it was to make good on her threat of going out naked was unknown at this point.

Thankfully though it wasn't the latter since she started putting on the black pants.

"So Naru, you still didn't tell me why you have issues with the shirt you picked." Mai said as she started to do up her pants.

"I'm just not very fond of colors Mai." Naru answered simply.

"But why? They look great on you, I mean this shirt totally goes with your eyes." Mai stated as she pulled on the aforementioned shirt.

"Whatever just let's go."

"Okay, okay." Mai grumbled. They both walked out the bedroom and to the front door.

"So where would you like to go?" Naru asked as they put their shoes on.

Mai shrugged. "I don't care as long as I eat."

"I see."

"Do you know where you want to go?" She asked as they walked out the door. Naru turned around and locked it.

"No, not really." He sighed.

"How about we just go to the first restaurant we see?" Mai suggested.

"Okay." Naru agreed. "But I hope it won't be too low standard."

Mai laughed as they walked to the car. "Of course." She slipped into the passenger seat as Naru got in the driver's side and put his belt on.

"How do you do things with these in the way all the time?" He grumbled as he gestured to his chest.

"I don't know...I guess I'm just used to them. They don't bother me." She replied.

"But they're in the way." He complained.

"I feel the same way about my new part too." Naru just stared blankly at her.

"What?" Mai asked innocently. Naru just shook his head and muttered something under his breath. "What was that?" Mai questioned as Naru started the car. Naru shrugged and shook his head again. Mai sighed and watched the scenery as they drove by. Naru focused on his driving. After five minutes Mai put her forehead on the window and then began hitting it against it.

"Mai, stop doing that, I don't want to be as dumb as you are."

Mai continued doing it. "You need to be dumbed down a bit."

"No, I don't and I don't need a concussion either so stop."

Mai snapped her head towards him. "I was not hitting it that hard for a concussion!" Naru didn't say anything, he just scowled at her. "Why do you have to live so far away from a restaurant anyways?" Mai grumbled quietly.

"It's not my fault that Lin chose there for me to rent." Naru replied.

"You didn't even get to pick your apartment?"

"Mai, I'm eighteen, of course I didn't get to pick my apartment. I've been there since I was sixteen which in England terms means I am, or I was, a child. My parents demanded Lin choose where I lived and keep a close eye on me."

"Well excuse me for forgetting!" Naru shook his head. Mai sighed and continued looking out the window. Finally after minutes of silence though a restaurant came into view. Naru swung into the car park and parked the car. "It's not 'too low standard' is it?" Mai teased as Naru cut off the engine.

Naru shook his head. "No, it looks just fine."

"Alright let's go!" Mai said as she got out of the car and Naru did the same. Mai spotted the toilets as they entered. She had wanted to go for a while now.

"Hey Naru I'll be right back."

"Okay." Naru said as she walked away. A few moments later several women shrieked and ran from the bathroom followed by a confused Mai. She looked at the door then down at herself and suddenly realized the problem.

"Ohh, whoops my bad." She said as she went into the men's toilet.
