Ch 17

"It's really falling down out there," said a worried Bulma, who looked out the sliding door to see white fall upon the ground, relentlessly. "I hope Goten isn't flying in the middle of this," she said to herself as Trunks came through the door, covered in snow.

"Trunks."

"I was just making sure Goten's restaurant was protected from the weather. Luckily I invented a dome like contraption to keep it safe."

"Well that's thoughtful and all Trunks but where is Goten?"

"Talking to his mother. I wanted to stay believe me but when the snow started to fall, I wanted to precautions with the restaurant. Plus I'm sure after talking with his mother; he'll want to get as far away as he can. You know neutral ground."

"You know sometimes I think you know him to well its kind of roman—

"Please don't mom. It's too hard," he said as he felt her touch on his shoulder.

"I'm sorry sweetie."

"Don't be, it's no one's fault," he said as the phone rang and Bulma went to answer it as he followed her into the kitchen.

"Hello. Oh, Mr. Satan. Goten's staying with you. Thank you for letting me know. Do you know if he's—oh, I see. I understand. His mother's quiet piece of work that's for sure and just let him know he'll always has a home here. Thank you. Bye," she said as she hung up.

"He's not coming back," said Trunks with nothing but coldness in his voice.

"Sweetie just because he's not living here doesn't mean you're not friends anymore. You can't cut him out just because things aren't going your way. I love you, and I know if you do this, there's not turning back. No matter what he's going through he stills needs you as his best friend to be there for him," she sighed. "I know I can stand here and say just force him to love you so you can live, but I know that's not fair to either one of you. I want you both to be happy naturally. What kind of mother would I be if I didn't want my children happy on there terms, but mine?"

"I didn't want him to go mom. It hurts to be near him, but it hurts more to be away from him. I just don't feel whole inside without him and part of me wishes I wasn't saiyan because feeling this strongly for someone who doesn't love me really sucks!"

"I understand. I thought that about your father at first and then he confided in me on day—

"The key word you're looking for is confide Bulma," said Vegeta.

"You just don't like it when I tell your kids about the moments when you're vulnerable."

"Whatever women," said Vegeta as he took out some leftover containers of food of the meal Goten made when he last cooked for the family.

Trunks looked at the containers, and his heart dropped. His gaze then met his father's. "I can't believe there's leftovers in this house," he smiled.

"He'll be back son," said Vegeta.

"How do you know father?" he asked as his father passed him a food container.

"A bond like yours and the youngest son of kakarott is unbreakable."

"I think he's just scared. I mean being under Chichi's control really did some damage to him. I don't even think his family knows to what full extent," said Bulma.
