Mai came back after she'd finished using the restroom and found Naru at one of the tables. She sat down and put a hand over her face to try and hide how red her face was.

"I can't believe I did that." She groaned.

Naru raised an eyebrow. "I'm guessing you had something to do with the women shrieking then?"

"Naru, I walked into the women's bathroom, of course I was the one who made the women shriek." Naru's lips lifted up into a smile. He looked away slightly to try and hide it. "Don't you smirk at me, it's not funny!" Mai growled.

"On the contrary Mai, it is."

"No it's not! Besides how would you feel if you accidentally went into the men's toilet and they all started wolf whistling at you or something?" Naru stopped smiling. Mostly because he didn't like men doing that seeing Mai's body. "That's what I thought."

Naru glanced at her before looking away. "I wouldn't care...just if it wasn't your body." He mumbled lowly.

"I'm sorry, I don't think I heard you right. Could you repeat that?" Mai asked. Naru gave her a quick glare before repeating it louder. Mai stared at him a little stunned. "But...I...why-" Mai got cut off as the waiter came over.

"Are you ready to order?" He asked.

"Um...yes, I guess so." Mai managed to get out since she was still a little stunned. She looked over the menu real quick and then ordered her food. Naru did the same but in a more composed manner.

The waiter nodded. "I'll be back shortly with your orders."

"So, Mai, you were saying?" Naru prompted when the waiter had left.

"Oh...um, well...why?"

"Why what Mai?"

"W-why do you only care if it's my body?" Naru didn't reply. After minutes of him not answering Mai got impatient. "Oh come on! Tell me!" Naru still didn't say anything. "Naru, please tell me." Mai said softly.

Meanwhile Naru was trying to come up with a good answer. Finally he got it and mentally smirked. "...Because you're my assistant." Mai smacked her head on the table at his answer. "Don't damage my brain Mai."

Mai momentarily stopped. "It needs some damage, I don't think it's working right."

"And what is that supposed to mean exactly?"

"You seem to be spouting nonsense." She replied.

"How so? You are my assistant."

"It's not that it's the bit about my body." 'That's not the reason and I know it!'

"You should learn to take compliments Mai." Naru informed.

"Tell me what being your assistant has to do with you not wanting other guys looking at my body." Mai insisted.

"It is perfectly natural as your employer to not want other males ogling you, it would only distract you from your work."

"Guys do not distract me from my work. I mean yo-" Mai clamped her mouth shut before she revealed anything. Naru raised an intrigued eyebrow. He really wanted to know what the rest of her sentence would have been. 'Way to go Mai!' She scolded herself.

"Do please continue what you were saying Mai."

Mai started to panic a bit. "I, um...well..." She looked around and then pointed behind Naru. "Oh look! Our food is here...haha!"

"How fortuitous, you can tell me the rest of what you were going to say whilst we eat." Naru insisted.

"I-it's bad manners to talk and eat at the same time."

"Not if you have already swallowed the food in your mouth." Naru pointed out. The waiter reached their table and gave them their food. Mai dug in immediately and filled her mouth with as much food as possible before realizing it was spicy and that her mouth was on fire with no real place for the food to go. Tears were now starting to run down her face.

"Mai, spit it out!" She heard Naru say.

"Haa...caa..." She puffed as she flapped her hands in front of her. Naru embarrassedly got a napkin off the table and shoved it to Mai's mouth. People were starting to stare! He patted her on the back a few times as she coughed and spluttered into the napkin, tears streaming down her face.

Naru tossed the warm, wet napkin full of Mai's food disgustedly on the table. "Are you alright now Idiot?" He asked as he turned his attention back on her. Mai let out a hacking gasping sound. "I guess not." He said to himself.

"W...wuh..." Mai tried to say whilst pointing at a glass.

"If you drink water it'll just make it worse." Naru explained. Mai stuck her tongue out and started fanning it with her hand to try to cool it. She started letting out little whining pants as she did so. Naru's mind was going ninety miles an hour trying to think of what to do. For some reason his mind went blank all of a sudden. He continued to fuss over Mai as he tried to come up with a solution.

After a while he remembered. "Milk! Mai you need to drink some milk to calm the hotness down." The waiter happened to be passing by at that moment. Naru called him over. "Can we have some milk please?" He asked when the waiter arrived at their table. The waiter nodded and rushed to the back to get some. Mai was still panting and coughing.

"What the hell did you order?" Naru said more to himself than Mai. Mai shrugged at the question. The waiter came back with the glass of milk. Mai immediately grabbed it and chugged it down messily. After she finished she practically slammed the glass on the table and gave a satisfied sigh. Naru just stared at her.

"What?" Mai asked after she thanked the waiter and handed him the glass. Naru just continued staring at her in horror and disgust. Mai huffed. "You try tasting that!" She pointed to her plate of food. "It. Is. Hot!" Milk was dribbling down her chin as she said this.

Naru shook his head. "Why the hell did you order it then you Idiot?!"

"How was I supposed to know it was hot?!"

"Did you try looking at the description of it on the menu?"

Mai blinked, "They have that?" Naru just stared at her. "I'll just order some more food. No big deal." Mai waved it off.

"Yeah and who has to pay for it?" Naru grumbled under his breath.

Mai rolled her eyes. "Oh relax, I'll pay you back when we get back to the apartment." 'Mr Cheap!'

"And what about the food that you're wasting?" He asked.

"Well you eat it if you're so worried about it." Mai responded as she looked around the place for the waiter again.

"You were the one that ordered it therefore you should eat it." Naru replied.

"Naru, I am not under any circumstances going to eat that stuff again." Mai stated sternly. "I don't want my tongue to fall off!"

"You're such an idiot." Naru muttered.

"Jerk." Naru just shook his head and turned his attention to his own food. Mai finally managed to flag down a waiter and ordered some non-wasabi tasting food.

"So, you were saying something about being distracted at work Mai." Naru said after a while, getting back to their discussion as though the food episode had not just happened. Mai had to try not to let her eyes widen. After everything that happened, he still remembers that?! Naru looked at her expectantly.

"I...don't remember."

"Of course you remember, you're blushing." Naru pointed out. "Now, what were you going to say before you stopped yourself?"

Mai closed her eyes and took a deep breath, preparing herself, then opened them. "You! You'd distract anyone from their work!"

"I...how?!" He demanded to know.

She rested her elbow on the table and dropped her chin in her hand. "Everything about you." She mumbled absently.

"What are you saying exactly?"

Mai shrugged. Naru frowned and looked away. "It's nothing bad though!" Mai quickly said to assure him.

"You said I was a distraction and yet you won't clarify what you meant. How am I supposed to believe it's nothing bad?"

"Well look at you!" Naru lifted an eyebrow and looked down. "Wait...okay, look at me. You're too handsome for your own good!" Naru smirked at her comment. "And now I just boosted your ego." She mumbled lowly so Naru wouldn't hear. Naru had returned his attention to his food. Mai leaned back into her chair and relaxed, waiting for her food. At least Naru didn't say any smug remarks about her thinking he's handsome.

"So, you think I'm handsome do you? Well, you have good taste." Mai looked up at him, glaring, and her eye slowly twitched. Spoke too soon. Naru's smirk widened.

"Here you go." The waiter said as he came up and set the food on the table.

"Hopefully you will actually eat it this time." Naru muttered.

Mai stuck her tongue out at him. "I will. I read the whole thing this time." Naru just nodded sarcastically in an 'I'll believe it when I see it' way. Mai began eating; She took a small bite first just to make sure it wasn't hot—not that she'd ever tell Naru that—and then gave him a 'See I told you' look. She then began taking bigger bites. The rest of the dinner was a comfortable silence between them. Naru strangely decided he wanted dessert, which to him was odd as he hated sweet things, and he chose the most sickly sweet looking option the restaurant had. Mai was surprised that he ordered it but she didn't say anything; she just figured it was his female hormones. Naru immediately got stuck in once the dessert was brought to him.

Mai smiled and slightly shook her head. "You are so going to regret this later." She mumbled as she continued to smile and watch Naru stuff himself. Apparently Naru didn't hear her though. He was too busy shovelling spoonful after spoonful of his dessert into his mouth. And he said she didn't have any manners? Ha! He scraped his dish as clean as possible before letting out a satisfied burp and licking his fingers as some sauce had gotten onto them. Mai just stared at him in amusement.

Naru just lifted an eyebrow at her.

"Are you finished now?" Naru nodded then hiccupped then burped again. "Come on then. Let's go." 'Before you get all sick and whiney.' Mai mentally added. They paid the bill and then left the table. Naru got about five steps before stopping in his tracks.

"Nnn, I don't feel so good." He moaned.

"Oh for crying out loud!" Mai grumbled as she walked back to him and started guiding him to the exit.

"Is Madam feeling okay?" The waiter asked. Mai smiled stiffly at him. "I hope she did not eat the candymania dessert all by herself." He commented. Mai paused in her efforts to get Naru to the exit.

"The...you mean that dessert was for two people?" Mai questioned.

"Well, normally it's for a party of at least four but two people have been known to be able to eat it all." The waiter informed. Mai looked at Naru incredulously. Naru was clutching his stomach. Mai wrapped an arm around his shoulders to help him walk.

"Maaaaiiiii..." He groaned. Tears were starting to slide down his cheeks.

"It'll be okay Naru." Mai promised as she rubbed his back. "Let's just try to get home first."

"I can't drive!" He cried. "And you...you can't drive."

"I'm seventeen." Mai argued. "I think I know enough to get us home."

"We're all gonna die! God bless my little broken body!" He shrieked.

Mai rolled her eyes. "Will you shut up?" She grumbled as they walked to the car. She helped Naru lay down in the back of the car. He kept groaning and complaining. She got into the driver's seat and started the car. She took a deep breath before starting to back up slowly. It wasn't slowly enough though and she drove into a hedge. She heard Naru moan in the back seat. She tried to pull forward and realized she was stuck.

"Ah, crap!" She slammed her hands on the steering wheel. "Looks like we're going to have to call Lin." She sighed.

"What?" She heard Naru ask. Mai repeated what she had said. Naru wasn't too keen on the idea though. "No Mai, nooo...urrp..."

"Why not?"

"Because...uh-oh...I don't think I can hold it in any longer..."

"Oh no! Naru don't you dare throw up in the car! I don't wanna clean that out!" She scolded.

"Can't...not gonna...oh no..." With that Naru emptied his stomach all over the car and himself and then burst into tears.

"Naaaaruuu..." Mai groaned and then look at Naru tiredly. That only made Naru cry more. She reached an arm over the seat and awkwardly patted his head. "I'm never letting you have sweets again." She mused.

"I didn't mean to..." Naru wailed.

"I know, Naru, I know." Mai reassured. "Just please stop crying." Naru couldn't though. He felt so terribly ashamed at what had happened. Mai unbuckled and got out the car. She opened the back door and sat down beside Naru—the side that didn't have his throw up on it—and hugged him. "Hey, it's okay, alright? Don't worry about the puke maybe I can trick Lin into doing it, that might be how we can get back at him for telling Monk and Ayako...besides this is your car anyways." Naru cried even more over the fact that he had just soiled his car. Mai winced at how loud he was.

"That's it, I think we really need to call Lin." She sighed.

"Nooo..." Naru sobbed.

"I'm sorry Naru but there's no other choice." Mai said apologetically.

She heard Naru hiccup and sniff. "What's wrong with me?! Why am I crying?"

"Sadly it's a girl thing." Mai replied. "Shall we call Lin now?" Naru brought his hand up to his head and whimpered. Great, now he has a headache. Mai sighed and pulled out the phone in her pocket, dialling Lin's number. It took a few rings before he finally picked up.

"Lin. We kinda need you to come and pick us up." Mai declared.

"At your apartment?"

"No, at a restaurant."

Lin sighed on the other end. "And why do I have to pick you up?" Mai thought about what to tell him.

"Umm...well, Mai had too much to eat and she got sick..."

"And you can't drive back, why?" Lin asked.

"Uhh...well...I may have backed up into a hedge..." Mai replied lowly. She heard Lin let out a tired sigh. She almost said 'sorry' but then remembered that's just not a Naru thing to do. Nope.

"Where do you need picking up from?" Lin questioned resignedly. Mai gave him the address and he said he'd be there shortly.
