Chapter Thirty-Five - On Pitch

Dear Harry,

I'll have you know I relish in studying. From a young age, I have loved learning and investigating everything I could get my hands on. It pains me to admit this, but when I first learned my name was Latin for dragon, I learned everything I could about the animal, but after a month it got so out of hand my mother took all my dragon toys and books away and gave me a kneazle instead. I did not appreciate it as much as I should have.

The point I am making is that I have loved studying from a young age, and nothing can keep me from learning more.

The fact that you do not know Old English is not surprising, and while I might help you, I think it would be good for you to go to the library at least once this year, so let it be to find out what malagrugrous is and I have done my good deed.

While the hat might be magical, it is nothing I would call ancient. The moral lessons it spits out are vague and useless, or has no one ever told you not to listen to prophecies. Here in the magical world they are quite common, but alas, also self-fulfilling. So don't listen to them and don't trust them, just like the Hat.

I would like to point out you could have just accepted my hand BEFORE we were sorted, but I assume that this was too much of an imposition for you. I was quite haughty when I was young. I have to admit,I would have liked to be your friend earlier. Still, I am happy you are here now, even though it is difficult to be your friend.

I will, without any shame, sing in perfect pitch. I have had singing, piano and cello lessons from the age of 7, Potter. You have made a mistake, with a demand like that. You would have made an awful Slytherin.

Interesting to that Professor Snape is still as competent as ever and does not lack the patience to teach you. I hope you get something through that thick skull of yours.

I understand your disinterest of divination, that teacher is something else.

There is a French tea from Mariage Frères, called Chaïwallah Rouge, which I am particularly craving tonight. It is not as sweet, which you will appreciate.

I will get some tasty sweet to go with this.

See you tonight.

Sincerely,

Draco
