Hey guys!
I wanted to dedicate this chapter to Puffgirl1952 HAPPY BIRTHDAY! Hope you like it!
Melody looked a bit uncomfortable.
"I'm sorry Mel. You don't have to tell me if you don't want to. I understand." I gave her tiny hand a squeeze. "But I want you to know that I'm here for you. Ok?"
"Thanks." She smiled at me.
"Girls, it's getting late!" my dad opened the front door and yelled for us to come in.
We got up from the grass
"Let me help you." Mel grabbed the glasses from my arms, and I retrieved the pitcher of ice tea, and we went inside the house.
"I can wash the dishes" I reached for the sponge. Melody went to her room change into her pajamas and get ready for bed. As I finished I wiped my hands dry and went to my room to change as well.
I sat on my bed, and Sebastian crawled onto my knee.
"I heard what happened today." He whispered. "I'm really proud of you and the girls"
"Aww thanks Sebastian." I patted his head. His words meant a lot to me. "I guess I just thought about what you said about how the Sailor Scouts' mission is to protect innocent lives. And that is exactly what I am going to do." Sebastian looked impressed.
Melody knocked on my door and walked in. She plopped down on my bed carrying a big book with her. "Will you read this to me?" she asked, handing it to me.
"Yeah." I grabbed the book, and sat next to her. I flipped through the pages and landed on the table of contents. I looked through them. There were 5 titles that popped out at me. Sleeping Beauty, Mulan, Aladdin, Beauty and the Beast, and The Little Mermaid.
"Could you read Little Red Riding Hood?" Melody asked, pointing to the page number.
I shook the thoughts away from my head. "Of course." I flipped the book to the beginning of the story. "Once upon a time..." I began to read.
As I read the familiar fairy tale, my mind kept wandering back to the five other tales. Was that our story? How did Melody get this book?
"The end." I finished reading. I looked at Melody who had fallen asleep. I closed the book and placed it on my nightstand. "Did she sleep through the whole story?" I asked Sebastian.
"She began to yawn in the middle." He chuckled as I rolled my eyes. "Come on Ariana give the child a break. She had quite a day. I mean here she is in the past trying to help her mom and dad who are in huge trouble in the future."
"I wish I could do something to help them." And I meant it, but I couldn't just hand over the Sparkling Sea Diamond. If only there was another way. I turned off the light.
My parents, Jace and Melody were running errands today. The moment the garage door closed, I grabbed Sebastian and ran to meet the girls and Derek at the beach. I left my parents a note saying I was at Jade's, which is where I would be heading to after our meeting.
"You're late." Jade greeted me when I had gotten there, her arms crossed.
"Hello to you too Jade." I took a seat next to Derek who handed me my melting popsicle he had gotten for me. "Thanks. So what I miss?"
"Not much, just recapping what happened yesterday." Mags responded.
"Have you had a chance to speak to Melody, Ariana?" Briar asked me, her mouth numb from her popsicle.
"Not really. When I got home last night, which I beat her to it by the way, she was too starstruck about the Scouts and Tuxedo Mask. Although she did tell me she's been having nightmares, but when I asked her about them, she looked uncomfortable."
"Did she tell you about them?" Derek asked.
I shook my head. "I think she'll tell me when she's ready. The best thing for her right now is for me to be there for her."
I then continued to tell them about what I overheard yesterday before Leila showed up. I told them about Melody calling a woman, how she's a princess, and most importantly how she's from the future. We decided to start off with what we knew about Melody, and try to brainstorm possibilities of why she's here.
"Well we know she's from a city in the future called Diamond Marina. Which I suspect to be this town in the future, and it happens to be under attack by invaders from the Negasea." Jade said
"And Melody's mother has been captured by them. Thats why she's here now." Mags added. "To try to save her. But what about her father?" She questioned. "You don't think he's-?"
"I doubt it. He could be trying to keep these invaders away. Maybe thats why he sent her here, to keep her safe." Briar responded.
"And Undertow and those four sisters followed Melody here to try to alter the future." Bella furthered the thought.
"We need to help her and get her back to the future." Derek said.
"Does anyone have a Delorean?" I asked laughing at my own reference, which no one got. "Back to the Future? Anyone? Aw come on you guys!" I said a bit surprised.
"Ariana can you take this serious for once?" Jade poked my side.
"Hey!" I jumped in the air from my ticklishness. "I can be serious" I mumbled.
"There has to be a way for Melody to get back home" said Flounder.
We all sat in thought trying to figure out a way to take Melody back to the future. " I got it!" I exclaimed. "Don't you remember that key she had at the moonlight cafe?"
"The one that defied gravity?" Mags asked
"Thats the one. What if we use that key to take her back?" I looked at the others.
"But the key didn't work that day, why would it work now?" Bella began. "And how do we know its safe for her to go back?"
I slouched my shoulders in defeat. I didn't think of that.
"What if the Sailor Scouts take her home. Maybe they could help win back their kingdom, town whatever it is." Derek spoke up. "Ariana wouldn't have to give up the Diamond, but she could still help Mel's mother."
"If the Scouts go then Tuxedo Mask would have to go too. He could keep Melody safe, as the girls fight the NegaSea" Sebastian informed him. "Would you be up for it?"
"Of course." he said truthfully.
"Then all we have to do is wait for Melody to tell the Scouts when it's safe for her to go home." Briar said standing up. Bella following in pursuit. They were heading to the movie theaters. "We'll see you later. Bye!" They waved at us as they left.
Mags then stood up and brushed the sand of her legs."I should probably leave too, I need to study for the history test, which you should do too Ariana."
"I will once I get back from Jade's." I smiled at her reassuringly, and waved goodbye.
Derek helped me up, as he chuckled from my comment. "You better!" He instructed.
"I bet I can get a better grade on it than you can on your paper." I teased him.
"Is that a challenge?' He raised his eyebrow.
"Maybe." I smiled mischievously.
"You're on. I'll see you later" He kissed my cheek. "Bye Jade!" He said as he left.
"Bye Derek!" we said in unison.
Jade and I were the only ones left on the beach. We headed over to her house.
"Did you ever figure out who Melody called yesterday from her ball?" Jade asked.
"Nope, all I could make out was a silhouette. Kind of like the ones from 90's games. But it was obvious she really cared about Melody."
"Maybe we'll find out who she is when we go to the future."
As we reached the Garnet Temple, I noticed a new face sitting on the steps with Jade's father.
"Who is that?" I pointing to the guy in the robes who was waving at Jade way too excitedly. He looked a few years older than us.
"Oh thats Robbie. He's our new employee. Dad needed more help around the temple, since I'm a bit too busy with school." She informed me, returning a small wave. We walked to her room and I plopped on one of the bean bag chairs.
"Hehehe I like how this bean bag swallows me up." I said.
"It's like sitting on a marshmallow." Jade looked for a few magazines and handed them to me, as she took a seat next to me.
"Woah, Chris Hemsworth was named sexiest man alive?" I blurted out when I looked at the cover.
Jade scrunched her nose "I prefer his brother."
"Hey girls." Jade's dad walked into the room. " I have to run into town to get a few things, Robbie is out in front if you need anything."
"Ok dad. Be careful." She said after him
As Jade and I continued to flip through the magazine, the doorbell rang. "Who could that be?" she asked me, and stood up to go answer the door.
I followed her, and waited to see who it was. When Jade opened the door, a woman with long curled hair stood there. Her face was hidden behind a hat, but she tilted it. Her eyes were a shocking blue. "Hello, I'm from The Bikers Makeup Agency. I'm going door to door to sell some products." She flashed a dashing smile. "But it seems I wont be selling any here, since you two already have beautiful faces."
There was something about her voice that sounded familiar, but I couldn't put my finger on it.
"Oh you really think so?" Jade asked a bit flushed.
"Why of course."
"Thank you but we don't have any interest-"
"Aw come on Jade, lets just see what she has. It won't hurt." I interrupted her, looking over Jades shoulder to see what she was carrying in her bag.
"Alright. Come in." Jade ushered her inside and we went to the living room, where the lady began taking out a few products.
She showed us a few shades of lipsticks, and eyeshadows. "Oh this gold color would look so nice on you" She said to Jade. "Here let me put some on for you."
Jade closed her eyes, as she she began dabbing on the pigment. When Jade had opened her eyes, the makeup lady had a mirror to show her.
"Wow, your right. You should be a makeup artist, rather than a makeup saleswoman." Jade told her. "You know what color works with anyone."
"You're too kind." she sounded a bit embarrassed.
"No it's true. You made Jade here look like a goddess, you definitely have a gift." I proclaimed, seeing how the gold eye shadow made her eyes pop.
"Hey what's that suppose to mean?" Jade asked with a bit of anger in her tone.
"Nothing, I was just complimenting her and you." I tried saving myself but we began to bicker anyways. The thing that made us stop was the giggle from the lady.
"I'm sorry, I'm not laughing at you." She said through another fit of giggles. She began to compose herself."It's just that it's really obvious how good friends you are. That is something to cherish."
"Yeah Jade, you should begin to cherish me as a friend." I winked at her.
Jade gave a sarcastic laugh, and then linked her arm around mine. "As long as you cherish me."
"Always." I said through a grin.
Jade directed her attention back to the lady " I'm afraid my friend and I won't be able to buy any makeup, but thanks anyways."
"That's alright. Maybe you could refer me to some of your friends?" She said hopeful, packing up her products.
"No one else lives up here." Jade raised her eyebrow. Everyone knew that it was only Jade and her dad up here.
"Any cousins, or classmates?" she was beginning to sound persistent.
"Nope, sorry."
"That's alright." We walked her to the door. "Thanks anyways" and just like that she was out of sight.
"Did she look familiar to you?" I asked Jade walking back to her room.
"She did a bit but I don't know from where." She shrugged her shoulders.
When we had taken a seat we heard yelling coming from outside. It almost sounded like-no it couldn't be. Jade and I dashed to the source of the sound and my fear was confirmed when we saw Melody being attacked by Leila. Robbie tried to fight her off with his broom, but it was no use.
"Go transform into Sailor Sea, I'll handle it." Jade instructed me before taking off.
I couldn't stop her, so I brought my brooch into the air and transformed. When I arrived on the scene I noticed Melody was passed out in the grass. Leila was in the midst of throwing some of her blue flame towards Jade, but Robbie had pushed her away in time.
"ROBBIE?! ROBBIE!" Jade looked at him in astonishment when they crashed into the pavement. "Are you ok? Talk to me!" She kneeled beside his fallen body.
His robes were a bit scorched, but he didn't have any burn marks. Jade turned him over on his back. "Go get out of here." He whispered to her.
"Why did he rescue her?" Leila questioned out loud. Her browed furrowed.
"If you had any friends, you wouldn't be asking that question." I moved my gaze towards Leila, walking towards her. "I should have known you'd be back. How low will you go to get an innocent child. In the name of the sea I will punish you."
"Sailor Sea!" she spit out my name. "I've had enough of you. And since you're alone, defeating you will be easy." She ran towards me at full force.
I blocked her kicks, but was unable to get away from her talon like nails. She managed to scratch my arms, but luckily they weren't deep. I tried to lure her out into the trees of Jade's backyard. She threw punches but kept hitting the trees instead. When I thought I had cornered her, she surprised me by pushing me against a tree. I felt something strong wrap around my body.
"You look a little stuck Sailor Sea." She brought her face close to mine. "How about I let you watch as I destroy both the little princess and the temple maiden." She cackled. Leila had managed to tie me against the tree with vines that had thorns. She walked towards Melody's body.
I struggled to free myself from the vines, but it was no use. The thorns were cutting through my gloves and into my skin.
"Nobody does this to my friends. Nobody!" Jade yelled out, when she realized what Leila did to me. She brought her hand up in the air. "Mystique Star Power!"
When she had finished transforming, Leila looked at her mouth agape. "You're Sailor Mystique? How could this be"
"Golden Fire Inferno!" Mystique attacked. A roar of fire was summoned towards Leila. Somehow she managed to escape it and find refuge on the roof.
"We've done this before Sailor Mystique remember? Except this time no one is going to stop me from defeating you." Leila showered Mystique in her flames, which she gracefully dodged.
"You don't scare me!" she dashed towards her, ready to fight.
Mystique and Leila then began to throw punches and kicks. Unfortunately Leila had elbowed her in the face. Mystique landed a few feet away from where Robbie laid.
"Mystique!" I cried out as I saw Leia position herself to throw another attack. Her blue flame was inches from them, but Mystique moved herself and Robbie to safety.
"Ahh, my ankle!" Mystique cried out in pain when she landed, gripping her leg.
Leila appeared in front of them. "Why do you protect him?" she asked him, her voice full of confusion and anger.
"Because he's a friend, and as a Sailor Scout I fight for justice and peace."
"Well I've had it with you and the Sailor Scouts. You're always ruining our plans, but not anymore." She raised her arms, fire being summoned to her palms.
Sailor Mystique tried to get up to face Leila again. "If you think I am going to give up, you are wrong." I could see her face scrunch up in pain as she pushed herself up.
"Right, here I'll make you an offer." She put her hand on her waist, her stare focused on Mystique. "Before I defeat you, I'll let say goodbye to your friends." She circled her like a vulture.
"Well thats something you'll never have. All you care about is your beauty. Leila there is so much more than just looks."
She stopped circling Jade, and her eyes widened. But she shook her head to clear whatever thoughts were in her mind. "I see what you're trying to do, you're trying to trick me. Well let me tell you, I do have friends, I have people that care and respect me. Undertow just doesn't show it."
Jade looked at me as if she had just cracked a puzzle.
"Anyways you're probably stalling until the rest of the Sailor Scouts come. Well I'm not going to fall for it Mystique." Leila continued. She disappeared and reappeared next to Melody.
"Wait!" Sailor Mystique yelled, ignoring the pain in her swollen ankle. "No!"
"DON'T TOUCH HER!" I screamed. I tried to free myself, but the vines tighten. "NO! GET AWAY FROM HER!' I felt the thorns slash my legs, but I didn't care, all I wanted to do was save Melody. I promised her I was going to keep her safe, and I intend to keep that promise.
Before Leila was able to lay a finger on Mel, a rose struck her hand. She pulled back with agony, and began to look for the mysterious thrower.
"Don't think about laying a finger on her!" Tuxedo Mask said to her, as he scooped Melody into his arms.
I let out the breathe I didn't know I was holding.
"You can't take her away from me!" Leila yelled running after him, but it was too late. He was gone. She was soon swallowed by Jade's fire. She fell to the ground with burn marks on her polk-a-dot dress.
"Good always triumphs over evil, don't you know that by now?" Jade told her, still on the ground.
"Leila that isn't a victory pose." A voice boomed. I glanced into the sky, and saw Undertow floating.
"Undertow." Leila let out a sigh in relief. "You came for me, you came to help me." She outstretched her arm to him, hoping he would help her up.
He rolled his golden eyes and crossed his arms. "No, not really." He scanned the scene. 'Where's the kid?"
Leila looked at him with defeat in her eyes. "She's gone. But we can get her back together. If we team up, we can finally defeat the Sailor Scouts."
He gave her a smug smile. "I don't have any intention in joining forces with someone who always loses." He then appeared in front of Leila. "Don't bother coming back to headquarters, you're off my team. "
The look on Leila's face was heartbreaking. "Undertow, you can't mean that. We've gone through so much together. You wouldn't leave me, you couldn't."
"I think we've had enough of each others company."
She looked into his eyes. "I can do this if you believe in me. Say that you believe in me. Please" she pleaded. "Believe in me."
He sighed. "You're on your own Leila. "
"Undertow..." she whimpered.
"I'll give you a parting gift." He presented a black orb to her."It's a bomb, and I'm sure you know how to use it." He turned his back on her and just like that he vanished.
Leila held it in her hand, uncertain. I could see her face full of pain. Her eyes continue to produce tears. "So this is it" She whispered. "I guess I might as well use it."
"No!" Mystique and I yelled in unison.
"Don't use it. Leila now's your chance to start over, without him" Mystique continued.
"No, I can't. Everything I knew was a lie. The only man I've loved played me."
Next thing I knew the black orb was thrown out of Leila's hands by Sailor Beauty's attack. Sailor Rose electrocuted it, and it was destroyed. Sailor Blossom ran to my aid and released me from the vines.
I stretched my arms and legs. "That feels really nice. Thanks "
"Sorry it took us such a long time to get here." Blossom apologized. We ran to help Mystique.
"Sailor Scouts!" she exclaimed when she saw Sailor Beauty, Sailor Rose, and Sailor Blossom.
"You got it!" Beauty winked. "Defenders of all evil."
"No need for speeches. You girls already won." Leila was on the ground, hugging her knees. She wiped her tears. "I'm not going anywhere. I have nothing left" She stood up and looked at us with such hate in her eyes. "It's all your fault." She pointed and threw her blue flames.
We ran in different directions, but that didn't stop her. She threw everything she had at us. "You're going to pay for my pain. Nobody believes in me anymore" She yelled.
"That's not true!" I responded.
"Leila you can make a better life!" Mystique answered her cry.
Sailor Rose saw the opportunity to knee Leila in the stomach, but something incredible happened. Sailor Mystique jumped to her defense.
"Don't hurt her." She huffed, landing on top of Leila.
"Mystique are you crazy?" The scouts shouted.
"No. Trust me on this." She returned her gaze to her. "Leila." she comforted. "There is good in your heart. I have seen it. You've been following the wrong path. Undertow used you, you deserve better. I-I believe in you Leila. And you should too."
"You believe in me?" she asked through more tears.
I stepped forward. "I do Leila, I believe in you."
"How about we end this path, and start a new one." Mystique encouraged.
She nodded. "Yes."
"Sailor Sea, think you can use the Diamond on her?" Jade asked me.
"Way ahead of you." I grabbed my locket from my uniform. "Sea Diamond Healing Escalation!" The pink light that shone off the diamond bathed Leila. I could feel all the negative energy leaving her body.
I placed the locket back in its usual spot. Leila stood hunched over. Mystique walked over to her and placed a hand on her back.
Leila flung her arms around her and gave her a hug. "Thank you." she said in Mystiques ear. She then laid her eyes on me and reached for my hand.
I walked over to her and hugged her as well. "I have no way to show you how grateful I am for what you've done for me. I apologize for everything that I did. Could you girls ever forgive me."
"Of course." the Scouts said together.
"Then I know what I must do." She began to walk down the stairs of the temple.
"Wait- where will you go?" asked Sailor Mystique, following her.
"A shrine maiden and her friend once told me I could do something with my life that I relatively enjoyed. And that's what I will do." She said walking off into the city.
We transformed back into our normal selves when Leila was out of sight. The diamond healed me from my injuries, leaving a few bruises, and healed Jade from her ankle. Jade offered me some ice packs, and we all went inside.
When we entered the house, I was greeted by the sight of Melody asleep on the couch and Derek watching over her. When he saw me he rushed over. The girls went into the kitchen to give us some privacy.
"Ariana are you alright? I'm sorry I couldn't untie you, I had to make sure Mel was safe." He said with guilt written all over his face.
I placed my finger on his lips. "I'm alright, just a few bruises. Melody needed you more than I did. How's she doing by the way?" I asked kneeling beside her on the couch.
"I checked her pulse, she's ok. Just passed out." he kneeled beside me, placing his arm around me. "I saw you and Jade defending Leila. That was very brave."
"Thank you." I heard Jade's voice behind me. She handed me two ice packs.
"Thanks." I placed them on each leg. "Hey where's Robbie?" I finally realized.
Jade placed her hand over her mouth in shock. "Oh no! He's still outside." she ran out the front door.
"I'll go help her. Watch over Melody." he stood up and followed Jade.
"Who's Robbie?" Briar asked as she opened a bag of popcorn she grabbed.
"He works here. He's really cool" I answered. "He saved Jade from Leila"
"Mom.." we heard Melody groan.
I swiped the bangs out of her face. "Mel"
Her eyes fluttered open. "Ariana?"
"I'm right here. How are you feeling?" I grabbed her hand to comfort her.
She sat up, and looked at my bruised legs. "That happened to you because of me didn't it?"
I shook my head. "No" But I could tell she didn't believe me.
"Leila, that crazy lady came after you because of me. I'm sorry, I put you in danger. I probably put all of you in danger" she met eyes with Bella, Briar, and Mags.
"That's not true Melody, the Sailor Scouts saved us." Jade answered her, walking into the room with Derek. She took a seat next to her on the couch.
"They did, and Sailor Mystique wanted me to tell you something." I said. "She says that you don't have to worry about Leila anymore."
"Sailor Sea healed her from the negative energy." Jade finished.
"She did?" Melody looked a bit taken aback, but her face was full of gratefulness. "I didn't know she can do that." she whispered to herself.
We all gave a small chuckle. I'm really glad that she doesn't have to worry about Leila anymore. The Sailor Scouts and I will make it our priority to heal the rest of her sisters, and help Mel back home.
"Hey what time is it?" Melody asked.
"It's almost 5:30" Bella responded checking her watch. "Why?"
Melody grabbed my hand. "We have to go, we're going to be late for dinner. Come on Ariana, lets move."
She dragged me out the door as we yelled our goodbyes.
On our walk home I asked Melody why she was at Jade's temple. She told me that she wanted for our family to have dinner together and that she volunteered to go get me.
"You wanted me at dinner?"
"We all did, it wouldn't have felt right if you weren't there."
"Thanks Mel."
"Hey I bet I can race you to the house and win." She said without waiting for my response, and began to ran.
"I have bruised legs!" I said jogging, keeping an eye on her figure as it ran.
She turned around and stuck her tongue out at me, and giggled.
