Ch 21
Christmas came and went, and Chichi was finally home from the hospital on bed rest. Videl had helped Chichi to her room as Gohan saw his brother come through the door with some groceries in his hands into the kitchen.
"Goten, what are you doing here? I thought—
"Mom needs a home cooked meal, and I want to do this for her. She had a heart attack Gohan. She could have—
"Mom's strong Goten. She's going to be fine. You need to take care of yourself Goten. I'm worried about you."
"I'm fine Gohan. Everything's—
"Step away from the kitchen Goten," said Trunks as he came in the door. "Your mom doesn't deserve this with the way she's treated you."
"I know my mom can be high strong Trunks, but it's not like she's abused him," said Gohan as a heavy silence filled the air. He noticed his brother couldn't look him in the eyes. "Goten."
"She missed dad. I was trying to help her."
"By letting her hit you! Goten, this is crazy. It's not your job to fix mom. She has her issues with dad, but it has nothing to do with you."
"Well I wouldn't know. Every time she looks at me she sees dad but I know all she's really wanted is for me to be you. I just can't measure up. I'm trying Gohan, and I know I won't have a wife and children like she wanted, but I don't want to lose her."
"So, you're willing to lose yourself and the things you want in life? No! She's your mother. She supposed to love you unconditionally, but she doesn't. I can't stand to see her hurt you, and you just take it like it's no big deal," said Trunks.
"I want her to love me the way I am, faults and all," said Goten. "That's all I ever wanted."
"You deserve that more than anything chibi," he said as he caressed the raven-haired man's neck, looking him right in the eyes.
Goten grabbed Trunks' face and kissed him passionately on the lips, which surprised not only Trunks but shocked Gohan. Trunks' arms found their way around Goten's waist, pulling him to his body as he returned the kiss.
"What is going on here?' demanded the Ox King.
"I see two people who really care about each other," said Videl as she smiled at the boys.
Trunks noticed Goten hadn't said anything about his arms still being around his waist. He figured Goten had forgotten, so he went to remove his arms but Goten wouldn't let him. "No, it's ok Trunks," he said as he smiled at the lavender-haired man, hugging him tightly. "I love you Trunks. I'm sorry I've kept you waiting for so long."
Trunks could feel his heart soar. "Doesn't matter Goten. I love you chibi. Kami I love you so much."
A sniffle was heard by the two hugging saiyans, who pulled apart to see Videl blowing her nose into a tissue. "S—sorry I can't resist a romantic moment," she said as she felt her husband's arm around her.
"I think she's trying to say that we're happy for you," said Gohan as he let go of his wife so she could hug the boys. He smiled but notices his grandpa's displeasure.
