Ch 23
The New Planet Vegeta was how Vegeta remembered his old home, but it was different to him. All of the things he was taught as a young saiyan no longer mattered to him. They were empty, shallow ways to live his life, and he could not imagine going back to that. It was all thanks to his wife, family, and friends that he became whole in his life.
"Vegeta," said Bulma as her hand lied on his shoulder. "What are you thinking about?" she asked in their room at King Vegeta's palace.
"We can't live a normal life here Bulma. The remaining saiyans must be destroyed," he said as a knock came to their door.
Bulma let her children and Uub into the room.
"I agree," said Trunks. "This is all wrong somehow. I can't even be with my mate!"
"Have you been able to speak with telepathically?" asked Vegeta.
"Yeah, but it's not the same. Anyway, they're living in the forest in huts made out of the earth and the trees."
"The weather on this planet is unpredictable, but they will have to endure for now," said Vegeta.
"Father, I—
"I know you feel an intense need to protect your mate son, but he has the blood of Kakarott flowing through his veins. He will be fine."
"So, what's the plan then?" asked Bulla.
"Better question, how powerful is your father? Could you sense his power level?" asked Bulma.
"He's significantly stronger than he was when I was younger, and that's without transformation. I don't know the limits of his strength, but I am determined to find out."
"So we can assume everyone else can be defeated by you, Trunks, Uub, Gohan, and Goten?" said Bulma.
"Yes, but we have to be smart about this Bulma. If by some reason my father is stronger, then we must be prepared to destroy him, permanently."
"And how long will that take?" asked Trunks.
"Trunks, you need to calm down," said Bulla. "Getting worked up isn't going to help anyone."
"Son, you need to take that anger and harness it and at the right time, you will use it to take out enemies," said Vegeta. "Right now you need to calm down as your sister has suggested.
"Fine," Trunks said as he took a breath in and then out. "I guess my only consolation is the fact that I can use telepathy to be close to my mate."
"I'm sorry Trunks. I wish it didn't have to be this way for you, but I promise I will get all of us off this planet alive," said Vegeta as his hand rested on his son's shoulder.
"Thank you father," said Trunks as another knock came to the door, which Bulma opened once again to see a saiyan guard.
"King Vegeta requests you all for dinner and to wear the formal attire that has been supplied for you," said the solider as he took one look at their earth clothes and left.
Dinner with the King was over the top; at least that's what Trunks thought by expensive flooring, the gaudy decorations, and the long table filled with food that could feed a whole saiyan army. He was rich and flaunting your status was something Trunks found disgusting.
From where Trunks sat, he could tell how uncomfortable his sister's boyfriend felt in his saiyan armor and gave him a sympathetic smile. He looked to his mother, who was observing the décor of the room. He could tell by the look in her eyes that she felt the same way he did. His father's expression he couldn't quite decipher, and Trunks could tell his sister was a bit nervous of the uncertainty of their current situation.
"Why so tense and nervous?" asked the King. "We are family after all."
"And how do you continue to rule this planet, father? The old ways are dead."
"They will never be as long as I'm ruler of this planet, and you will accept the old ways or—
"What? You'll kill us. How good would that look?" asked Trunks. "Have you even taken the time to get to know the universe instead of just destroying every planet in your wake?"
"Yeah, and did it even occur to you that your grandchildren are half-human? You could learn a lot from other races instead of just staying inside your own little bubble," said Bulma.
"You're a feisty, opinionated woman, but you speak out of line," said the King. "You will have to be put in your place."
"It is not your place to speak to my woman with such disrespect," said Vegeta.
"Well," said the King as he looked to his grandchildren, "I see that my granddaughter has a mate and what about you Trunks?"
"None of your business," said Trunks as he crossed his arms, leaning back in his chair.
"What a disgrace? By your age you should all ready have a female and some cubs," said the King.
"Earth is where I was born, so I don't have to follow any rules I find unsatisfying to me," said Trunks.
"What arrogance! You are your father's son," said the King.
"Thank you," Trunks smirked. "I'll take that as a complement."
"There is something you all need to understand. You will never see earth again or talk to that low class family so either assimilate or life on this planet will be unpleasant," said the King.
Trunks could feel the rage inside him coming to the surface. He wanted nothing more than to strangle the king with his bare hands and feel his neck break with his hands. He sighed. 'That thinking could get me into trouble.'
'Trunks.'
'Goten.'
'Kami, it's great to hear your voice. My grandfather's insane,' he thought as he could hear Goten chuckle. 'So, how are you? What are you doing?'
'I wasn't fully recovered from when I was sick, so I'm just lying down on my self-made bed. It's decent enough. I miss you Trunks.'
'Take care of yourself chibi. I miss you to, and I love you. I promise I'll try to see you. Whatever it takes to be together.'
