Ch 24
The Son family was getting by in their well built home in the forest. Gohan had taken it upon himself to find food to keep his family alive along with his daughter Pan. Videl would prepare the food the best she could. The Ox king had been making sure his daughter Chichi was resting and taking care of herself. Goten was still recovering from being sick but helped his family out the best he could.
It was morning on New Planet Vegeta as Goten woke from his bed. He felt a little dizzy and lied back down. 'It's weird, shouldn't I be getting better?' he thought as he slowly sat up again when a knock came to his door. "Come in."
"Goten, how are you feeling?" asked Videl.
"I'm not recovering as quickly as I usually do," he said as Videl felt his head.
"You're still pretty warm. How do you feel despite your fever?"
"Weak and dizzy but I can't stay in bed. I have to help—
"Everything's covered Goten. You need to rest. You're not good to us and especially Trunks if you're not getting better."
Goten lied back down and sighed, "I guess you're right Videl. I just can't believe this is happening. I mean a part of me thinks I'll wake up at any moment."
"I know it does seem surreal."
"I just hope Trunks is doing ok. I mean from what he told me through our connection, King Vegeta is ruthless."
Videl smiled. "You miss him, don't you?"
Goten blushed. "It's just not the same. His presence comforts me."
"I feel that way about your brother to. When he's near, I know everything will be all right."
"It is going to be all right," said Gohan as he walked into the room.
"Well, I better start preparing breakfast," said Videl as she quickly kissed her husband on the cheek before leaving the room.
"You look terrible Goten," said Gohan.
Goten smiled. "Gee thanks, but I'll be ok. It's not like I'm dying."
"Don't even joke like that. We're in a very dangerous planet with a power hungry king. No one's safe."
"I know that's why I'm worried about Trunks."
"Trunks can take care of himself."
"Is something wrong Gohan?"
"Vegeta's told me all about saiyan bonding when I was a teenager. What you and Trunks are going to go through won't be easy. You're only a short distance apart but you two need to physically need to be close at some point, or you'll both go crazy, especially Trunks."
Goten sighed. "I know all about saiyan bonding. Vegeta had the talk with Trunks and I to."
"Goten, I don't think you understand the real danger you're both in. If the King finds out—
"He won't if no one mentions it ever again."
"How long do you think you and Trunks can keep this a secret for? You both have just mated. Your longing for each other will only increase."
