A/N: Still bored, but rawr and stuff. I just wanted to write a fluffy story this time…
OOOOOOOOOOOOO
Ava looked at her phone as it lit up again and she sighed in frustration. Elias looked over at her with a frown on his face.
"What's wrong,. Cupcake?" he asked, strumming softly on his guitar.
"It's nothing," Ava muttered, shaking her head. She forced a smile. "Please keep playing, Elias."
Elias reached out and picked up her phone, looking at the name scrawling across the screen. He looked at her and sighed when she averted her gaze.
"He's still calling you?" Elias asked, holding out the phone.
"You know how AJ is…"
"He's the one that broke up with you. He needs to let you go. Stop calling and texting you…"
Ava tossed her phone onto the seat beside her. "I don't ever answer him. He's bound to give up at some point…"
The phone went off again, seeming to contradict her blatantly.
Elias gave her a look. Ava looked away again, pretending not to see him.
"You know he's not going to go away, Ava. Why don't you just tell him that you don't want him around anymore?"
Ava's dark eyes snapped onto him, glaring. "Don't you think that I've already don't that? Told him that I'm not going back to him? That I'm never going to answer his calls or texts or whatever?"
Elias frowned. "What'd he say?"
"He got this really creepy smirk on his face and said that I'd come around one day. That I would eagerly take him back when I came to my senses again."
Ava wrapped her arms around her knees and glowered at the wall, worrying her bottom lip. Elias thought she looked cute when she did that. She was adorable when she did anything, really, to him. Elias broke out in a small grin.
"What?" Ava asked.
"Get your jacket on," Elias said, setting his guitar aside. "We're going out for a ride."
Ava's eyes lit up and she scrambled off the couch. Elias smiled and followed after her, heading for the front hall.
"We're going on a trip in our favorite piece of sh-" Ava sang with a broad smile.
"Hey! My truck isn't a piece of shit!" Elias protested, holding the door open for her.
"Says you," Ava sang, pressing a kiss to his cheek. "Ha-ha. Love you. Lets go!"
Elias swatted at her ass and she darted away with a peal of laughter…
OOOOOOOOOOOOO
Ava moved along the water's edge at the lake that Elias had driven them up to. Mist was rolling off of the water. Elias slowly reeled in his fishing line and listened to her sing. She smiled as she skipped over to him.
"Catch anything yet?" she asked, fixing his hat.
"Nah," Elias said, shaking his head. "Nothing's biting yet."
"Hm…" Ava moved into the water and crouched down, swishing her hand slowly in the water.
Elias watched her pass her hand back and forth a couple of time and then jerk it out. A fish caught on her hand. Ava laughed at his shocked expression as she waded back onto shore.
"What?" she asked innocently, readjusting her hold on the fish as it flopped.
"How did you do that?" Elias asked.
"One with nature, I am,." Ava said with a grin.
Elias snapped a picture and then Ava gently put the fish back into the water. "Seriously though, how'd you do that?"
"Grandpa taught me," Ava explained, looking out at the water. "He said that before I could learned to use a pole, I had to learn to use my hands like his dad taught him. Like the fathers before him." She shook her head. "Just because I'm the first daughter in ten generations doesn't mean that I get coddled. Not even when Dad died. Not even when AJ did what he did to me."
Elias remembered, though they never talked about it anymore. He hated bringing up those memories for her.
"Grandpa likes you," Ava told him, breaking into his thoughts. "He really likes you out of all the men that I've been around. There's a future he sees for us that he didn't with anyone else."
Elias sighed and cast out his line again. "You never did say 'yes' to going out with me or moving all of your stuff into my place though."
Ava ducked her head and stuffed her hands into her jacket pockets. "I sold my house…it closes in two days and all the stuff that I haven't already moved to yours is in a storage unit close to your house, Elias."
Hope swelled in Elias' chest.
"And we've been going on little dates for forever. So you can count that as….well, y'know…"
Elias nearly dropped his fishing rod. "So you're dating me and you're moving all the way the in? Hell yeah!"
Ava smiled and pointed as his bobber jerked in the distance. "You got a bite!"
Elias reeled it in and laughed as he saw the size of the fish that he had caught. Ava snatched his phone and snapped a few pictures of him with the fish. Her eyes saddened when her phone started going off in her pocket moments after they'd released his fish with a ringtone that she had designated as AJ's.
"Don't," Elias said, watching her reach her phone. "Don't, Ava."
"But…"
Elias grabbed the ringing phone from her and answered it himself.
"Ha! I knew you'd pick up eventually, sweetheart!" AJ's voice slurred. "I knew you couldn't resist coming back to Big Daddy."
"AJ. Stop calling, texting. And stalking Ava right now," Elias ordered, gripping the phone tightly. "She isn't interested in calling you back. She isn't interested in you at all. So do us all a a favor and leave her the hell alone. Or we will go to the authorities and file a harassment suit."
"Elias?! The hell you doing with my woman?!"
"She's not yours and she never was. Leave her alone, AJ, or you'll be running scared from the real Big Daddy in jail."
Ava stared at him in awe as he hung up, blocked the number, and handed her back the phone. "Elias?"
"No one messes with my cupcake," Elias said, wrapping an arm around her and pulling her close. "You hungry? We could go get something quick and munchy…"
OOOOOOOOOO
Ava laid under the blankets on the couch with Elias, watching a movie. She laid her head on his chest and listened to his heartbeat,. Everything about this seemed natural. Elias even wrapped his arms around her tiny waist and stroked the naked skin of her back where her shirt had ridden up a little.
"That feels nice," she murmured, sounding relaxed, almost sleepy.
"Am I putting you to sleep, cupcake?" Elias teased, pausing his movements.
"No. Just peaceful. Very peaceful for the first time in months."
"Because you're not calling?"
"Right."
"And he can't again?"
"Double right,." She shifted slightly. "Grandpa was right about another thing."
"What's that?"
"If I got the chance to kiss you…I'd want to keep doing it again and again and again…."
Elias smiled and pressed his lips to hers in a tender kiss. Me too, cupcake. Me too.
OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
