"Joke's over Mai. I would never say that. Of all people why the hell would I say your name?!" Naru shouted.

Mai felt a pain in her chest and tears began to fill her eyes as she heard him say those words. "How the hell should I know?!" She yelled before she stormed out the living room and into the bathroom, slamming the door behind her.

"Argh, women!" Naru muttered to himself. He looked around the room in frustration, not knowing what to do. Perhaps he should go after her. Naru glanced at the doorway Mai had exited a few moments ago. Maybe he shouldn't. She had seemed mad. Then his mind went back to the glistering in her eyes. No, he should definitely go talk to her, even if he doesn't want to.

Naru took a few steps forward but paused. Wasn't she lying to him though? She said he called out her name in his sleep... He really doubted he did. There had been no reason! He let out a sigh. If he didn't fix things between them now, it'd just be awkward for the both of them later whenever Mai decided to come out the bathroom.

He started to head towards the bathroom again. Very slowly, but at least he was. He hesitated again when he got to the bathroom door. He could hear her doing something in there as he stood there. He frowned as he wondered whether he should knock on the door. Naru shook his head. Of course he would have to knock. Mai undoubtedly would have the door locked so he couldn't just walk in. He'd have to convince her to let him in if she didn't open up if he knocked though. That could be tricky. He took a deep breath, preparing for Mai's very likely fury, and knocked on the door.

"Go away!" Mai shouted from the other side of the door.

Naru sighed. "Mai-"

"I said go away!"

"Please Mai."

"Please what?" She asked mockingly.

"Please...let me in...or come out." Naru said stiltedly.

"Why would I do that?!" Mai tried to control her voice so it wouldn't crack but she failed miserably.

"Because you can't stay in there forever." Naru replied.

"Watch me!" She yelled stubbornly.

"Mai, don't be ridiculous." Silence was the only thing that replied to Naru. He let out sigh. "Look I'm sorry alright? Just come out."

"No! You're not sorry you Jerk! You're just saying it!"

"I'm not Mai, I swear."

"Oh yeah?! Then what are you sorry about?!" 'He probably has no idea why I'm so upset!'

"Whatever it is you're upset with me about." Naru replied.

"Exactly..." Mai said dejectedly. "Until you figure out why I'm upset and actually mean the apology, I'm not coming out!"

"Mai...for crying out loud..." He stuttered out at a loss for words. And again he was met with silence. "Argh, you're so...infuriating!" He shouted.

"Yeah? Well you're an insensitive jerk..." Mai whispered to herself as she sat in the corner of the bathroom by the door. Naru had already walked away from the bathroom though. He had stalked back to the living room to think about what Mai said. He just didn't get what her problem was. If anyone was upset it should be him, after all it was Mai who had been making embarrassing and untrue things up about him. Even though he was asleep and didn't really know what was going on, he still wouldn't have done it! Mai was making it up he was sure. Then Naru paused. But why was she so close to tears? If she was making it up, wouldn't she have gotten mad that he wouldn't believe her instead of crying? He shrugged and concluded that women were wired wrong and were just plain weird and crazy.

He tried going back to sleep but he couldn't. It had been a couple hours since Mai locked herself in the bathroom and she still hadn't come out. He should maybe go back to the bathroom and add some more concern to his voice when trying to convince her to come out, especially as he needed the toilet now. Naru sighed and got up from the couch. He went to the bathroom door and knocked on it.

"What?" Mai asked obviously still upset.

"Mai." He sighed. "Come out, you've been in there long enough."

"Why should I?"

"Because..." He started.

"Yeah?"

"Because I need the toilet."

Mai slung the door open and glared. "You're unbelievable." She grumbled as she walked passed him and went into the bedroom, slamming that door behind her this time.

"Impossible girl." Naru muttered as he went into the bathroom.

Mai leaned against the bedroom door, staring at the floor. Why couldn't Naru understand that he was being a complete jerk? Why couldn't he believe her? More to the point why couldn't he just accept defeat or come to an understanding where they agreed to disagree? Why did he have to win all the time? 'His pride...' She thought bitterly. 'I think it was a mistake to live here with him, it's solving nothing. I'm going home.' Mai sighed when she realized she'd have to borrow some of Naru's clothes to take with her.

She got off the door and walked to Naru's closet. She looked inside but she didn't know what to take. She didn't want to be mean and take Gene's clothes even though they were brighter and more her style but then again she didn't want to wear solely black clothes as they were depressing and she hated them. Maybe she should just go and buy some of her own. She had no idea about guys clothes though. What size did Naru even take?!

Mai stared at his clothes. Dang it, now she was curious. She bit her lip. Surely Naru wouldn't care if she looked. She was planning on taking some of his clothes anyway so it wouldn't matter if she just looked at the labels instead. So Mai grabbed one of his shirts and looked at the tag. On it was only one word, Armani. Her eyes almost fell out of their sockets.

"Holy crap..." She whispered then gently put the shirt back. "I...he...um..." She stuttered to herself. 'I can't believe I'm wearing...' She walked over to the bed and sat down heavily upon it. It took a few moments before she jumped up as she realized the bed still had the puke on it. 'I'm wearing...and I just sat...oh no...' Mai frantically turned her head to look at her bottom to try and see if she got any on her pants. She couldn't see properly though. She groaned. 'I guess I'd better change before I leave.' She carefully looked at the clothes in the closet again. She decided she was going to get something on the 'less expensive side'. If he had any that is.

She started looking at the labels on Naru's clothes. 'Gucci...Okay still expensive!' She moved to the next item of clothing and sighed. She didn't think he had a non-expensive piece of clothing. 'Gucci, Gucci, Armani, Gucci, Armani...' Mai felt like beating her head against the wall. She guessed she'd just have to pick one of those clothes. She really wanted to just go home. She reached into the closet and grabbed something at random. Once dressed, she opened the bedroom door and began to walk out.

She had just gotten to the end of the hall and was starting to put on her shoes when Naru called out. Mai paused for a moment debating whether she should even bother talking to him. She turned and glared at him. "What?" She growled.

Naru wasn't sure what to say. What exactly was she doing? Why was she putting shoes on? And why was she dressed in his tux?! Which he had to admit, it looked good on him. 'No, stop thinking about how good you look in a tux and focus! You must find out what Mai is up to.' Mai was still staring—well more like glaring—at him, waiting for an answer.

"What...why..." He stuttered. Mai cocked an eyebrow at him. He cleared his throat. "Where are you going and why are you dressed like that?" Naru asked a little puzzled.

"I'm going home." Mai announced. His eyes widened slightly and he knitted his eyebrows together.
"...Why?" He questioned sadly. "And why are you in my tux?" Mai looked down at herself and realized she was wearing a tux.

She decided to try and cover her mistake. "Because I couldn't find your clown costume." She replied.

Naru narrowed his eyes slightly. "Funny Mai." He deadpanned.

"I know I am, it's a shame how underappreciated my talents are." She said breezily.

Naru glared at her with steel eyes. "Why do you want to leave?" He questioned, getting back on topic.

"Because...this isn't working Naru." Mai answered him seriously.

"How? How is this not working?" He demanded to know.

"Because it's not!" Mai snapped abruptly. She closed her eyes to calm herself before speaking again. "All we've done for the last few days is fight—more than usual. Then when we fix things, it just repeats. And it feels like every time we fight it just gets worse." She said with tears back in her eyes.

"No it doesn't, you're making that up."

"Okay for one, stop that! Stop saying that I'm making everything up! I'm not! Why can't you just trust me?!"

"Mai it's obvious this stuff isn't true, if it were I would've asked you to leave long ago."

Mai huffed in disbelief. "You just don't realize it. I can't take it anymore Naru."

"Can't take what? The truth?"

Mai turned away from Naru, shaking her head. Her vision blurred with tears. "Why do I even love you?" She whispered to herself so softly that she could barely hear her own voice.

As Naru had only heard a slight rumble issue from Mai's throat due to the deepness of his voice he assumed she had called him a derogatory name.

"Call me a jerk all you want Mai it doesn't change the fact that you obviously can't handle being called out when you make things up."

"I didn't call you a jerk...and I'm not making things up." Mai mumbled tiredly.

"Of course not." Naru said sarcastically.

Mai just ignored his comment and began walking to the door. "Call me if you happen to find anything about us switching bodies, if not...then leave me alone." She advised.

"Mai...wait." Naru called after her. Mai paused with her hand on the door handle, but she didn't turn around. "Don't go."

Mai let out a humourless laugh. "Why?" Naru didn't know what to say. What was he supposed to say? He definitely didn't want her to leave though.

"Well?" Mai demanded.

"I..." He tried to get out.

"You...?" Mai prompted.

"I...don't want you to leave. You can't leave."

"Why? This obviously isn't working Naru and I can't take much more." Naru looked down, lowering his head.

"But...I thought it was working." He said dejectedly. Mai turned half-way around to look at him, her hand still on the handle.

"Well with this one it all started because you wouldn't believe me when I said something that was true and it...escalated."

"But it's not, it can't be."

"Well it is. You were asleep, you can't control yourself; you didn't know what you were doing." Mai murmured. "Besides you made it very clear you'd never do it if you were awake." Naru let out an irritated noise. He was fed up of her mumbling to herself. Mai looked pointedly at him.

"What?" Naru questioned. Didn't he just hear what she said? "Why are you looking at me like that?" Naru continued. Mai pressed her lips into a small line.

"What?" Naru asked again. From the way he acted, Mai realized he really hadn't heard her. She looked away from him and repeated louder this time.

"Mai I...I didn't mean...it's not..." Naru fumbled unable to come up with the right words.

"I just don't think there's a reason for me to stay here anymore...so I might as well leave." Mai bit her lip, avoiding eye contact with Naru.

"No..." Naru protested. Mai turned slightly and rested her forehead against the door, making it the only support she had as she dropped her hand from the handle. She exhaled tiredly not knowing what to do.

"Give me a reason why I should stay Naru..."

"Because we haven't sorted out our problem yet."

"Naru you don't need me to figure that out. I'll just be in the way. Besides I thought you weren't going to research us switching bodies or whatever..."

"Well I thought we were going to work it out together."

Mai sighed. She shook her head sadly at him. "Goodbye Naru." Naru swiftly made his way towards her and grabbed her arm just as Mai opened the front door. Mai just shook him off though, her strength now far outweighing his.

"Mai, please!" Unfortunately by the time the words came out of his mouth he was talking to the door and the space Mai had occupied moments ago before leaving. He stared at the door in shock.
