Ch 28
Vegeta, Trunks, and Uub had been training hard in one of the gravitation rooms. They push themselves to their very limits. They were determined to beat the king at any costs. As Vegeta turned off the gravity, he looked to his son and his future son in law.
"You both done well today," said Vegeta.
"Thanks father," said Trunks.
"Thanks Vegeta," said Uub.
Walking out of the gravity room, they came face to face with two of the King's guards. Vegeta, Trunks, and Uub looked to each other wondering what was going on.
"King Vegeta requests to see Trunks right away," said one of the guards.
"What for?" asked Vegeta.
"Suitable females have been selected to be his potential mate," said the other guard.
"No, you can tell the King that I refuse his request," said Trunks.
"I thought you might say that," said the King, who walked past the guards. "It's inappropriate for the King's grandson to be without mate and cubs. You will follow saiyan tradition."
"Or what? You'll have me killed. Sounds ridiculous to me."
One of the guards noticed a bite mark on the side of Trunks' neck. "Your majesty, I believe your grandson is all ready mated to another."
"What makes you say that?" the King asked his guard.
"He has a bite mark on his neck."
"Where is your mate Trunks?" asked the King.
"My mate is not here but safe far away from this castle."
"And why is that?"
"I let my mate know ahead of time of the danger and the reason you can't sense them is because they know how to hide."
"You can't hide your mate forever Trunks. You know very well about what the distance will do," said the King as he left down the dark hall with his guards.
Trunks knew in some way the King was right, but he would manage his instinct to take off and be with Goten. It was only a few days more until the King got what was coming to him. It strangely gave Trunks some comfort.
"Don't let that guy rattled you man," said Uub.
"I'm not rattled," said Trunks.
"Once the battle begins, my father will know," said Vegeta.
"It won't matter. We're going to take the King down."
"Hey Vegeta, doesn't it bother you that you have to fight your father to the death? Isn't there a part of you that loves him?"
Trunks looked to his father. He was curious about his answer.
"I wasn't raised to love. He's stuck in his old ways, and he will never be open to what I've experienced on earth. Fighting is normal for my father, so it doesn't bother him. It doesn't bother me. Do I love my father? No, but," he looked to his son, "I am not my father. I love my children, my mate, and I respect you for asking such bold questions."
"That's good to know," said Bulma with Bulla beside her.
