Chapter Forty-Six - Draco to the Rescue?
The decision to start living without Voldemort being on his mind every second made Harry kind of forget about the developments from last days and the so called 'Order' that was fixing everything. So, when after potions class Hermione pulled Harry into an abandoned classroom with a guilty following Ron, Harry was kind of stunned. She immediately demanded what had happened to Harry in the last few days. Not believing that his bisexual revelation was the sole reason that had made him so relaxed, so carefree, "even in potions class!", she exclaimed, frustrated for not understanding something.
But before Harry could explain, Draco bursted the door open, and strudded towards Harry after quickly analysing the situation of Harry's frustrated face and Hermione's anxious nervousness.
"So you are telling them about the possession thing are you?" he asked with a raised eyebrow.
"Well I am trying to, but than you came bursting in. In a private conversation I must say."
"Oh please, you were about to skip through it as if nothing happened and act the brave Gryffindor. Be glad I came in to rectify your future explanation and highlight the monstrosity of the situation. You are welcome."
"Draco, please don't make this worse. It's fixed and we talked about it already, it's all solved and nothing to worry about anymore."
"Tsk, it was enormous and you know it. You need your friends to support you. And you need to be fully honest with them. You cannot act as if nothing ever happened. You need to show your emotions." He stopped quite abruptly looking aghast, "O merlin I cannot believe I just said that. Your Gryffindor stuff has rubbed off on me."
They stared at each other challenging, Draco looking too smug, Harry looking far too ashamed but too proud to admit defeat.
"Merlin's PANTS, can someone tell me what the hell you are talking about!" Startled everyone jumped up and Ron's frustration.
Harry realised he had completely forgotten his friends were there, coughed his throat, pulling himself away from the thoughts on Draco he was stuck in.
"Ehum yeah, huh right... Mione, Ron, so you remember a few days ago the nightmare and your father's hospitalisation. Right well yeah of course you do, sorry Ron. But so everything all really developed from there and it turns out that that nightmare was kind of the whole damn solution to Voldemort. Sirius and McGonnagal, Severus and Dumbledore himself, they all sort of fixed it now. So yeah, I think Voldemort will be completely finished in the following few days or so."
When Harry stopped his explanation it was completely silent. He fidgeted with his fingers, not knowing what more to say so not to worry anyone about something that he had decided was almost solved anyways. The silence lasted too long though and Harry made the mistake of looking at Draco to see what he thought about the situation. Draco did not look amused.
"O Merlin Harry can you be more cryptic. This is exactly what I meant by you just skipping past all the important stuff!"
Harry tried looking ashamed, but he just didn't want everyone to be worried, there was no point in it anymore.
So, as per normal, Hermione took over and demanded to know what Harry was talking about. Thus started the dramatic tale of Draco, and Harry trying to emphasise how everything was all under control now. In the end Draco seemed to be out of sorts and almost in a panic. When he saw however how nervous Harry looked, a shift took place and the same consoling words from a few night before were made between each other. Harry was forever thankful that Hermione chose not to comment.
After the initial shock, Hermione and Ron chose to believe Harry on his word, that everything was under control. Unfortunantely, he first had to answer a million questions from Mione. It calmed both Harry and Draco somewhat, needing the analytical and realistic perspective Hermione was trying to offer. Ron just shrugged his shoulders, completely trusting his brother's ability to get the Horcrux out.
Harry guessed it helped that Blaise and Pansy came storming through the door demanding to know why they were not invited to a secret meeting involving their new best friend, Harry. Draco's jealousy was a much larger emotion than the almost solved problem Harry was having, and thus Draco was drawn into the bait and started discussing how he was already Harry's best friend, meaning they couldn't be.
Ron and Hermione just stood awkwardly at the side-line, no idea yet what to do with a group of Slytherins. Harry just laughed and since they had an hour left before dinner, he pulled them to the side for a game of exploding snaps. The Slytherins, seeing the challenge right in front of their eyes, joined too, despite Ron's shocked noise. The game soon escalated in a weird Slytherin invented game combining exploding snap, truth or dare, wizarding chess, and Pictionary.
