We don't own Ghost Hunt!

This worried Naru. He thought he had been doing so well with getting along with Mai. Although she did kinda seem a little upset. He sighed. He didn't know what to do anymore. He kinda felt like just curling up with a big tub of ice cream to drown his sorrows for sucking so badly at communicating with Mai. But he just didn't want to wear a skirt...even if that was the only thing he had. But he could've sworn Mai brought some longer skirts with her. Why couldn't she have given him one of them? Naru glanced at Mai's bag warily. He bit his lip. Maybe he could look in there and see what there was even if there were only short skirts. Maybe Mai hadn't been lying after all...

He should probably man up and wear what was there instead of keep making a fuss. Mai doesn't make a fuss about his clothes.

Naru sighed. He slowly approached the skirt he had thrown across the room earlier. He reached out and grabbed it, holding it out to examine it. It wasn't so bad he thought. It wasn't as frilly as some of the skirts Mai usually wore there was just a bit of lacy detail around the hem. Also it wasn't poufy or anything, it was just a plain white that looked as though it was tight enough to hug his curves but still allow him some movement. Looks like he made a big fuss and upset Mai for no reason.

He let out a sigh as he toyed with the elastic waistband. 'Ooh, stretchy for all my comfort needs!' He then eventually slipped the skirt on. He twirled and did a few more experimental movements before deeming himself satisfied with the skirt. He guessed he ought to catch up with Mai...and then apologize to her when he did. He braced himself then opened the front door. He took a step out the door only to freeze in shock at seeing Mai leaning against the wall beside the now opened door with her arms crossed. She looked at her watch.

"I wondered how long it would take you." She stated. She pushed off against the wall and turned towards him. "Ten minutes, not bad, I thought it would take longer." Mai began to smile when she saw Naru still staring at her.

"What...but...I thought...what...?" He stuttered.

"I knew that if I said I wouldn't come back you would probably come after me..." Mai looked down at the skirt and smiled. "And I was right."

"You...I...this was..." Naru started to frown at the fact he was duped by Mai. Mai laughed and grabbed his wrist.

"Come on, we have to go!"

Naru grumbled but followed after her.

"Do you know what I'm supposed to do with Lin's cameras?" Mai asked hopefully as they stood in front the SPR door.

"I still say we should send Yasuhara in, after all it is him we are trying to pin this on right now." Naru replied.

"...Wouldn't that be too suspicious? Besides if Lin asks him what he was doing in his office, Yasu will just say that we told him to." She gestured between us. "It wouldn't help any now would it?"

"Hmm, good point." Mai nodded and continued staring at the door. "Well I don't know." Naru said, getting bored with standing there like a dummy in silence.

Mai sighed. "Let's just go in and go from there I guess." Naru shrugged. Mai grabbed the handle and cracked the door open, peeking in. It seemed like the office was empty. Mai groaned. "Lin didn't take Yasu with him did he?!"

"He couldn't have or the door would've been locked." Naru pointed out.

"Then where is he...?" She asked looking around the room cautiously.

"How would I know, do I look psychic to you?!" Naru said irritably. Mai cocked an eyebrow. Again with the snappiness.

"Fine, fine." She said holding up her hands in defence. Naru let out a sigh. He knew he'd accidentally snapped at her again. Before he could say anything Mai was already at her desk looking around.

"What are you doing?" He asked.

"Trying to see if there's a sign of him being here." Mai turned around to face him. "Maybe he's in the kitchen..." Naru let out another sigh.

"I guess I will go and find out." He huffed in a monotone voice. Mai only nodded. Naru headed towards the kitchen. He didn't hear anything coming from it. This made him frown. Could Yasuhara be in the bathroom? Naru narrowed his eyes, he'd better not be in his office. He growled and started to storm towards the door of his lair. Mai twirled around as she could hear Naru coming.

"What are you...?" She started. But Naru zipped passed her and went into his office. She followed after him. Why in the world was he storming to his office? He slammed the door open when he reached it. His eyes immediately searched for the bespectacled young man. Luckily Yasu wasn't in Naru's office. A flush sounded from behind Mai.

"Uhh, Naru..." Mai called quietly. She jerked her head back when Naru looked at her. He blinked at her then quietly closed the door to his office before going to stand beside her. "I think Yasu's in the bathroom..." Moments later Yasu came out of the bathroom whistling merrily. He paused when he saw the two of them though. Then he unsurprisingly rushed at them with his arms flung open.

"Mai, Naru, you're here!" He cried. Mai and Naru shared a quick worried and nervous glance. Just as Yasu was about to reach them they stepped sideways away from each other so he ran smack into Naru's office door instead. Mai's eyes widened and she had to turn around so Yasu wouldn't see her trying to keep from laughing. Naru just stood smirking.

"Ow, ow, ow!" Yasu whined rubbing his head. Naru was really tempted to tell him it served him right but that wouldn't be very Mai-like he figured.

"It's your own fault, Yasuhara." Mai stated, now fully composed. She even had Naru's blank look down. He could've clapped and hugged her for the wonderful job she was doing being him.

"It's not my fault if I haven't seen you guys in weeks." Yasu fake pouted. "And this is how you two treat me? Especially you Mai!" He pointed an accusing finger at Naru. He opened his arms to engulf Naru into a hug but he stopped mid-step. "Wait a second..."

"Now what is it?" Mai asked snappily. Yasu flashed a grin.

"Did you two come here together?"

"And if we did?" Mai questioned. Naru was impressed at her ability to be mean. He didn't know she had it in her.

"Well, well, well Naru, I didn't know you had it in you to defile our dear sweet Mai, you dog!" He chirruped wiggling his brows lasciviously. Mai lost her composure for a bit as her eyes widened. Even Naru made a rather choked sound of anger. Mai looked like a fish out of water there for a few moments. Then she glanced at Naru and back Yasu before clearing her throat.

"That comment is not appropriate." She said.

"Ah, but you're not denying it~!" Yasu sang cheekily.

"And you're not denying you want to be unemployed." Mai retorted. Naru could've almost kissed her for that stunning comeback. He didn't think he could've done better himself. Although while they're throwing comebacks at each other he could go into Lin's office since he's going unnoticed at the moment...

He started to move away from them and towards Lin's office. Once he got to the door, he looked back at Mai and Yasuhara before going in. They now seemed to be staring at each other, daring the other to say something, although Yasuhara was smirking slightly. Mai must have gotten stuck on a retort. Naru just shrugged and entered Lin's office. He stopped at the door and looked around for the cameras. He vaguely knew where they were but he was just checking to make sure. He saw the black laptop on Lin's desk ahead. He went towards it, knowing exactly where to avoid in order to not get caught. Naru swiftly made a grab for the laptop as he was out of sight. His hands encountered nothing but empty desk though. Naru furrowed his brows. What? He peeped out from his hiding spot to find out what was wrong. Then he realized he wasn't anywhere near the laptop.

"Idiot." He muttered to himself as he changed his position. But it was still hard to get the laptop without being seen on the camera. Eventually he managed it though. With the laptop in his hand, Naru made his way back to the door. He made sure that nothing else had been disturbed before leaving the room and closing the door. Mai and Yasuhara were still arguing so he slipped back into the same spot he was standing before, with the laptop behind his back.

"...Isn't that right Mai?" The real Mai asked as though looking for confirmation on something she'd said. Naru blinked.

"Uh...yeah." He nodded. He had no idea what he had just agreed to but he was sure it wasn't too bad. He was starting to get nervous about it when Mai and Yasuhara just kept staring at him.

He was even more nervous when Yasuhara asked, "You agree with him?" Crap... What did he just agree to?! He looked to Mai hoping for a secret signal or something as a clue to what they'd been talking about. He hoped Mai had noticed that he was gone. Mai looked at him. She flickered her gaze to Yasu and back to Naru.

"Of course she agrees you're a perverted moron, it's just very rare she says so in front of you." She stated. Ohhhh, so that's what it was.

"Sorry...erm, Yasu...but it's sometimes true." Naru said, trying to find his 'inner Mai.' Yasu just sighed dramatically.

"So it is true!" He cried. Naru couldn't help but just shrug. Mai finally noticed that Naru was keeping his hands behind his back.

"Well, we have to go, don't we Mai?" She asked him. Naru nodded vehemently.

"Wait, you're leaving already...?! And together?" Yasu asked the last part in a sly tone. Naru sighed impatiently as he thought of an answer.

"He's my transport for today as I couldn't afford the bus." Yasu looked at him suspiciously. "What?" Naru asked.

"Don't you usually walk here?" Yasu asked. Mai flinched a bit.

"I was staying with friends and it was too far too walk." Naru lied smoothly. Yasuhara seemed to be satisfied with that answer, but he still didn't let the matter go.

"You two said you were leaving...but you just got here and you haven't done anything..."

"That's because we only came here to pick something up." Naru answered. Yasu furrowed his brows as he looked at the two. "Now what?" Naru asked.

"Yasuhara, if you don't mind we really have to be going." Mai stated as she walked over to Naru. Yasuhara sighed and shrugged. Mai followed Naru to the door but turned around right before she walked out. "Oh, and Yasuhara," Mai gave one of Naru's fake smiles. "We were never here."

"Of course Boss..." He replied confusedly. As soon as the door closed behind them Mai leaned against the wall and sighed in relief.

"Thank goodness that's over with." She breathed.

"Mai, that was...was..." Naru tried to find the right words to describe it.

"Well, what about you? You were..." She couldn't find the words to say how good she thought his performance was.

"No...you were a lot better than me." Naru actually admitted. "I honestly didn't know you had it in you." Mai only grinned as she pushed off the wall and they began to leave. They didn't exchange another word until they had gotten back to Naru's apartment.
