Luigi's Mansion: Double, Double, Toil and Trouble
"Orville!" Henry called for his twin brother. "Orville!" The two ghostly twins were in their room playing their favorite game, Hide and Seek. "Orville!" Henry then heard snickering by the bed. He flew towards it and called again. "Orville!" He heard someone snicker again, only, it was louder. He looked on the bed. He didn't see the sheet float in the air. He flew to the upper bed. He didn't see that sheet float. He heard laughter again and flew back down. He heard it louder then ever. Now he knew he was close. He pretended to ponder.
"Hmmm," He pondered out loud. "I wonder where Henry is. Could he be…" He flew to the floor and picked up the sheet, revealing the underside of the bed. "…under the bed?" And indeed, there was his twin. Henry flew out.
"How did you find me?" He asked.
"You shouldn't snicker when you're hiding." Orville told him. "It's a dead giveaway."
"I know." He said. "But it's just so funny! That you're inches away from me, yet you still can't see me."
"Want to race on our toys?"
"Sure!" And with that, the two boys got into their toy car and airplane and flew them, chasing each other. They both laughed.
"You can't get me; you can't get me!" Orville teased his brother in his airplane in a singsong manner.
"Oh, yeah?" Henry challenged in his car, making it fly. "Here I come! I'm on your tail!" The boys laughed and laughed. They were having so much fun that Orville bumped his plane into the drawer, knocking down a picture frame. It broke. The boys stopped and gasped. They both got out of their fake vehicles, and flew to the picture frame.
"Mom's going to kill you!" Orville shouted at Henry. Henry shook his head.
"Nah uh!" He disagreed. "You can't kill someone who's already dead!"
"Oh, well, if you were still alive, Mom would kill you!" Henry shook his head again.
"No; Mom would kill you!" Instead of arguing more, the boys looked at what the picture was and gasped. It showed two little boys, smiling in their baseball uniforms. A baseball diamond was behind them and each boy had a baseball bat and was wearing baseball hats on their heads. "Orville, do you know who these boys are?"
"Yeah, they're us when we were in our bodies." He then frowned. "Henry, do you ever miss our bodies?"
"Yeah, but it's fun being ghosts, isn't it? Going though walls, making inanimate objects float in the air?"
"Yeah, but you can't play with solid things without them going through you."
"Yeah." Orville then looked at Henry. "Henry, do you think we can ever get our bodies back?" Henry shook his head.
"I don't think so." Orville sighed.
"If only we can go in other bodies of kids our age. But, they'll have to come into the mansion. And, what's the chances of that happening?" Henry sighed this time.
"Yeah." He then nudged his brother, changing the subject. "Let's continue playing." This cheered Orville up.
"Yeah!" Henry went back into his plane. Orville made the picture frame float, dropped it into the trash in hopes their mom won't see, and got into his vehicle. They started them up, and the two five- year olds laughed as they resumed chasing each other.
The bus stopped and two young Toads went off with the other kids. Both Toads looked around.
"Where's your brother, boys?" asked the bus driver, a Toad with glasses. The two young Toads looked at him and both shrugged.
"We don't know." One of the Toads replied.
"He's late." Said the other Toad. The adult Toad sighed.
"Okay, look." He said. "Since I can't leave two kindergarteners on their own, I'll just have to take you back to school. I'll call your mom." The two Toads were about to go on when a voice rang out.
"WAIT!" The two Toads turned around to see an older Toad running their way. "DON'T GO! I'M HERE!"
"You're late." The second Toad said. "I'm going to tell!" The older Toad stopped to catch his breath. He then looked at the bus driver.
"Sorry I'm late." He apologized.
"Just don't do it again." The driver responded. The older Toad nodded in agreement and the driver closed the door. The bus then drove off. The first Toad nudged the second Toad.
"Race you home!" He challenged. He began running. The other Toad chased him.
"CORY!" The teenaged Toad shouted. "TODD! Slow down!" He went after them.
The two Toads, Cory and Todd, stopped as they neared a spooky mansion. The teenaged Toad sighed in relief.
"You two ran like Cheetahs." He said. "You know that?" Todd and Cory ran and clung onto their brother. They were now frightened. "What?"
"It's the spooky- looking house." The first Toad said.
"Yeah!" The second Toad added. "It might eat us like that house did in the movie."
"You saw that?" He sighed. "Gah, Mom's going to kill me. I told you that movie was too scary for you guys."
"Then you shouldn't have rented it." The second Toad said. "Then we wouldn't have been tempted to watch it." Three teenaged Toads came their way.
"Hey, Danny!" The first teenage boy shouted at him. "You out walking your two baby brothers home?" Danny looked at him.
"Shu…" He was about to say, then looked down at his brothers. They looked up at him. Danny looked at the teenaged boy. "Be quiet, Elliot. What are you three doing here anyways?"
"Your Mom told us you'd be out here." The other teenaged boy said.
"Okay." Danny said. "What do you want?" Elliot glanced at the mansion, then back at Danny. "I want you to go knock on the front door of the haunted mansion." Danny looked at it and gulped. He looked back at Elliot.
"Now?" He wanted to know. Elliot nodded.
"Yeah, now."
"But can't I drop off my brothers first?"
"You're chicken, aren't you?"
"No, I just…." The other boy and Elliot started clucking like chickens.
"Oh, will you two stop?" The girl teenager asked. "He has his two brothers with him." But, they didn't stop. The two continued.
"Fine!" Danny declared. "I'll do it." The two stopped.
"Noooooo!" Cried Cory. "Don't go, Danny!"
"Yeah!" Todd added. "The house will come to life like in the movie."
"I'll only be a minute, guys." Danny promised them.
"NOOOOOOOOO!" The young Toads screamed. The teenaged girl then grabbed the two off of him.
"Come on, I'll watch you." She said. "You can count on Kristy." Kristy looked at Elliot.
"Don't make him do this."
"Shut up, Kristy!" Elliot snapped. The two young Toads oohed.
"You said something mean!" Cory said.
"Yeah!" Todd added. "You're going to get in trouble!" Elliot just shrugged.
"Whatever."
Danny stared directly at the mansion. He gulped again and slowly began walking to it.
"Danny." Kristy piped up. "Elliot is being a…" She looked at the two young Toads. "You don't have to go."
"I know." Danny said. "But, Elliot is just going to keep pestering me until I do it."
"That's right." Elliot agreed.
"When my man Elliot says you're going to do it," Elliot's friend said. "You're going to do it."
"That's right." Elliot agreed. They did a high-five.
Todd and Cory both called for their brother, but their brother ignored their cries and resumed forward.
"So, what is the story behind this house again?" Elliot's friend asked him.
"They say a fire happened here." Elliot explained. "Burned everybody inside."
"Oh, yeah. Now I remember. Didn't the house burn to the ground too? Why did they rebuild it if nobody lives here?" Elliot shrugged and the boys continued watching Danny.
Danny went to the door and was just about to open it when he looked back. Elliot and his friend urged him to go. Although he didn't show it, Danny was utterly terrified. Danny turned around and turned the doorknob.
"We have visitors." Booris told his boss, King Boo. "Should I scare them away?"
"Yes." King Boo replied. "That's what we boos do best, after all."
"Very well." And with that, Booris went off.
The young Toads couldn't take it anymore, and went running up to their brother.
"DANNY, NOOOOOOOO!" They screamed.
"COME BACK YOU TWO!" Kristy yelled after them.
Danny opened the door and Booris was there.
"BOOOOOOOO!" Booris shouted. Danny screamed and stumbled back. Cory and Todd didn't see the boo because they were too busy screaming, and ran inside. The door closed on it's own. Danny didn't realize this, and ran to the others.
The two Toads stopped running and looked around the mansion.
"C….C…ory," Todd sputtered. "We're inside."
"I know." Cory responded. The two Toads yelled and ran to the door, banging on it.
"Orville?" Henry said outside of their room, playing with their Burn Wheels. "Do you hear that?"
"You mean the screaming?" Orville asked. Henry nodded.
"Not just screaming. Those screams came from kids just like us. Come on; let's go check it out." The two ghostly twins put down their toys, and went out and opened the door to the foyer. The ghost boys saw the two kids.
"They are kids!" Henry observed. "And they look about our age!" Orville then had an idea.
"Henry, are you thinking what I'm thinking?"
"No." Henry answered, looking at his brother. "What are you thinking?"
"I'm thinking of being alive again. We can go into those boys' bodies."
"Ohhhh!" Orville realized. "I get it." He then was confused. "But won't Mom and Dad miss us?"
"I suppose. But we can always go back or better yet, find bodies for Mom and Dad, or for everyone in the mansion." Orville was unsure about this.
"I don't know about this, Henry."
"Come on! We can be regular kids again; don't you want that?"
"Of course, but…"
"Then come on!" Orville thought about this and nodded.
"Yeah!" He agreed. "Let's go!" The two laughed and flew downstairs and went behind the two screaming Toads.
"BOOOOOOO!" The twins yelled. The Toads looked around and screamed. They ran around the foyer. The ghosts chased them.
Suddenly they heard the door open. The two Toads stopped and looked at the door. Was it their brother coming back for them or were there more ghosts? They didn't know, and that's what frightened them more. Seizing this opportunity, Orville and Henry flew into the Toads' bodies. Orville into Cory's and Henry into Todd's.
"Cool!" Orville said. "We're in those kids' bodies."
"All right!" Henry cheered. And with that, the two twins did a high-five. The door then opened. The boys turned around and saw Danny, Elliot, Elliot's friend, and Kristy. Panic was in Danny's eyes.
"Come on you two!" He said, grabbing them and pulled them outside. He then hugged the two, a little too tight.
"You're crunching our lungs!" Orville breathed.
"And we just got them!" Henry added. Danny withdrew then.
"Sorry." He apologized. He then got mad. "You little brats almost gave me a heart attack! Don't ever do that again!" He then was calm and sighed. "Come on; let's go home and get out of this creepy place." He led them off with the others.
"You know," Kristy told Danny once Elliot and his friend left for their homes. "You shouldn't have gone. You should have just taken your brothers home."
"I know." Danny agreed. "I wasn't thinking. I just wanted it done and over with." He sighed as he looked at the twins. "I'm sorry guys. I should never have let you guys experience that. I'll make it up you. Maybe I'll make you two some lasagna for dinner. You'd like that?" The twins looked disgusted.
"EWWWW!" They squealed. "Not lasagna!" Danny looked confused.
"Are you kids feeling alright?"
"Yeah!" Orville answered. "We're alright." Danny looked unsure, but shrugged.
"Well, it's just that lasagna is both of your favorite meals. You aren't known to turn it down."
"Well, we hate it today." Henry told him. Danny shrugged again.
"Ice cream, then? After dinner, though." Both of the boys' faces lit up.
"YEAH!" The twins cheered. The two never had ice cream in a long time and were dying to have some. Kristy chuckled.
"I think you just made it up for them." Danny chuckled too with a smile.
"Yeah. You can count on ice cream to cheer little kids up."
They said their goodbyes to Kristy. Danny resumed going home with his brothers, unaware that he was bringing ghosts.
"Okay, boys." Danny said once they were home. A model of Earth made from Paper Mache was on the table. "I have some homework to do before dinner and after dinner, you can have your ice creams. Don't mess around with my art project." He then left for his room to finish his homework. The twins looked at the Earth model.
"I wonder what that boy's art project is." Orville said. Henry shrugged.
"Don't know." He responded. "Let's just play with this Paper Mache model of Earth." Orville nodded.
"Okay." Orville grabbed the model and he and his brother began playing catch with it.
Henry has tossed the model so high that it hit the fan on the ceiling and it dropped back down and hit the lamp. It fell to the floor. The lamp then fell and SMASH!
"OHHHHH!" The boys oohed. They then went to where the model went and saw that the lamp has fallen onto it and it was destroyed as well.
"MY ART PROJECT!" They heard Danny scream from behind them. They then saw him run to it, kneel down, and gather the pieces. He then glared at the twins. The twins both hesitated, then pointed at each other.
"He did it!" They both cried at the same time.
"ORVILLE; HENRY!" Their mother, Lydia called back at the mansion. "DINNER!" She looked for her twins, but didn't find them. She knocked on the door to her husband's room. Her husband was in his rocking chair in his room, reading a book.
"Come in!" He yelled when he heard the knock, not taking his eyes off of his book. The door opened and there was his ghost of a wife.
"Aw, Lydia my sweets," Neville began. "What can I do you for? Is dinner ready?"
"Have you seen Henry and Orville?"
"No, but I'm sure they're somewhere in this mansion. You know how troublesome they are."
"But I looked everywhere that they like to be and they're not there." Neville sighed, put down his book, and got up.
"I'll help you. They're probably just playing Hide and Seek. You know how mush they enjoy that game." And with that, they left the room.
"I worked long and hard on that project." Danny said, pacing back and forth in front of Henry and Orville. "And now it's ruined because of you two. What have you got to say?"
"Well, to be fair," Orville began. "The lamp fell on it, thus destroying it."
"The lamp; the art project. Mom and Dad are going to blame me and then I'm going to kill you two."
"No." Henry whispered to Orville. "because we're already dead." This made both of the boys laugh.
"It's not funny!" Danny said. The boys quieted down and looked at the floor, ashamed.
"Sorry!" They both said at the same time.
"Now, you are going to help me clean this mess before Mom and Dad gets here."
"Yes!" Danny went to get the broom.
"Found them?" Lydia asked her husband when they met in the foyer. Neville sadly shook his head.
"I'm afraid not. I had everybody in the mansion look for them and no luck. If they are playing Hide and Seek, they sure are mighty good at it." Lydia began to weep. "Oh, don't worry dear. We'll find them." He put an arm around her.
"What if they're not playing?" She asked. "What if they really are lost? Oh Neville, I can't help but worry. I am a mother after all."
"I know, I know." He then had an idea. I think it's time to seek help from Madam Clairvoya. If anyone knows where the twins are, she will." Lydia sniffed.
"Good idea." And with that, she and her husband flew off.
"I see the boys!" Clairvoya said when Neville and Lydia were in the fortune teller's room. Lydia had told her about Henry and Orville and Clairvoya was consulting her crystal ball.
"Where?" Lydia wanted to know.
"They're in the bodies of two kid Toads, twins like yours and possibly the same age as them."
"They're in bodies of kid Toads? But, why?" Madame Clairvoya shrugged.
"Perhaps they did it because they're tired of being ghosts. They wanted to be in living bodies again, partially ones that were their own ages. It makes sense if you think about it." Lydia nodded.
"I suppose, but they still have to come home. What is the address of the Toads home whose bodies they stole?" Clairvoya yawned.
"I'm afraid my powers are leaving me now. I can't answer that until tomorrow."
"What? Tomorrow? But my babies need me now!" She pounded the table madly. "If you don't let tell us where our babies are tonight, I'll…I'll fire you!" Neville put his hands on her.
"Now, now, my pet." He began. "Let's not stress out Clairvoya. If she says her powers are weak, then her powers are weak. Let's ask her in the morning." Lydia looked at her husband.
"Neville! I'm shocked at you. Aren't you worried?" Neville nodded.
"Of course; they're my kids too. But, I know that they're safe and sound, and that all that matters. Now, we'll get a good night's sleep and get the boys tomorrow, okay?"
"But…" Neville arched an eyebrow.
"Lydia!" Lydia sighed.
"Fine!" Neville smiled. He kissed her on the cheek and flew off.
Lydia was still unsure about all of this, but she trusted her husband. With that, she too, flew off. Clairvoya got off his chair and got ready for dinner.
The next morning, the boys heard a knock and someone shouting.
"Boys!" A woman yelled on the other side. "It's your babysitter, Kathy Goodwin. Come out so that I can bathe you before you go to school. Remember to brush your teeth first."And with that, the knocking ceased. Both boys sat up in their beds, and rubbed the sleep out if their new eyes. Henry looked at the clock, then at Orville.
"Hey, Orville?" He said. "I can't tell time, but I know we got up way too early."
"Yeah." Orville agreed with his brother. "But waking up not as ghosts, makes it well worth it."
"Yeah." The boys then went into the bathrooms. There, on the counter, were two toothbrushes; a green and an orange one. Henry looked at Orville.
"Gosh!" Henry said. "We never brushed our teeth since we were humans last."
"Yeah." Orville agreed. "If we never were ghosts, our teeth would smell really bad now."
"Yeah." Henry then changed the subject.
"Hey, Orville, what color toothbrush do you want?" Orville shrugged.
"I don't know, Henry. What color do you want?"
"How about we each reach for a random one and the person who gets it, gets it. The other person will have to pick another one." Orville nodded.
"Sounds good to me." They both raised their hands, ready to swipe. "Ready? Go!" They both went for the orange one, but Orville beat his brother to it.
"Aw!" Henry cursed. "I wanted the orange one!" Orville chuckled.
"Well, you should have asked." Henry sighed as Orville put toothpaste on his.
"Fine!" He took the green toothbrush, put toothpaste on it, and brushed his teeth with his twin.
Two minutes later, after the twins washed and spat in the sink, Henry looked at the toothpaste, an idea forming in his mind. He looked at his brother.
"Toothpaste fight?" He asked. Orville smiled at him.
"You know it." And with that, Orville grabbed the toothpaste and stated squirting his brother with it. Henry grabbed the other toothpaste and squirted back at his brother. The boys laughed and laughed as toothpaste flew everywhere.
Kathy, an elderly Toad went in the bathroom to see what all the commotion was and gasped.
"TODD; CORY, WHAT ON EARTH ARE YOU DOING?!" She yelled. The boys laughed and turned around, accidently squirting her. The twins stopped and gasped as she wiped the toothpaste off of her face. She had her hands on her hips and was mad. The twins quickly pointed to each other.
"It was him!" They said together. Kathy didn't buy it one bit.
"Look at you two! You both need a bath; you can't go to school like that." The boys looked down in shame.
"Sorry!" They both said. Kathy sighed.
"I don't get it. Both of you hate getting toothpaste in your eyes." She looked at the twins and smiled. "Okay, I'm going to start your bath. You two take your clothes off."
"Okay you two," Kathy said when she had the bathwater ready for them in the tub. "Pick out a toy and get in."
"What toys?" Orville wanted to know. "I don't see any toys." Kathy thought this was a joke.
"You know where the toys are." Both twins shook their hands.
"I'm afraid we don't." The elderly Toad sighed. She stood up and opened the cabinet under the sink, revealing a horde of bath toys. The twins were amazed. "Pick one and get it. But only one from each of you." The boys nodded and picked out a toy. Orville, a toy boat, and Henry, a rubber duck. Once they got a toy, they both went into the tub. The Toad closed the cabinet and went to wash the two boys.
Once they were done getting clean (it took longer because the twins wouldn't cooperate with Kathy. She also stepped on the toys because the boys threw them out earlier in their bath), they went down and ate breakfast. Then it was time for kindergarten
"Aw!" Henry awed in disappointment. "Do we have to?" Kathy was confused.
"What are you talking about?" She asked. "You two love kindergarten!" Both boys sighed and then a bus honked from outside. "Oh, there's the bus. You two have a good day." Henry looked at Orville, a mischievous twinkle in his eye.
"Oh Orville, are you thinking what I'm thinking?" Orville nodded.
"Oh, yeah!" He agreed. Kathy was confused. "What are you two talking about?" Henry plunged into her, pinning her to the floor. Kathy screamed.
"WHAT ON EARTH ARE YOU DOING?!" She screamed. Orville found some duct tape and a jump rope and the twins tied up poor Kathy. The twins sniggered and both stepped back to marvel their work when done. Kathy struggled and struggled. The bus honked again and the boys bolted off, hearing Kathy's muffled screams from behind.
"Sorry!" Orville called behind him. "We would untie you, but we have to go to school. That, and we don't want to." The kids laughed as they got onto the bus.
"Orville?" Henry asked his brother on the ride to kindergarten. "This is the only thing I don't miss about being human." Orville nodded in agreement.
"I agree, but since we're going, let's make the best out of it." Henry nodded.
"Sounds good to me!"
"Where are my children?" Was the first thing Lydia had said when she and her husband entered Madam Claryoya's room.
"Good morning to you too." Clarvoya greeted.
"No funny business now, Clarvoya. I have missing children. This is serious."
"Yes." Clarvoya agreed. "This is very serious business, indeed." She flew to her chair and gazed at her crystal ball. She looked at Lydia. "I have just woken up, you see, and I haven't had my breakfast yet. Maybe it would be better if…" Lydia shook her head and crossed her arms across her chest.
"Oh no, Clarvoya! You are not going to have breakfast until you tell me where my children are!" Neville touched his wife's shoulders.
"Now, now, dear." He began. "If she hasn't eaten yet, we better let her do it. Her powers might be stronger that way." Lydia sighed.
"Fine." She decided. "Neville and I haven't eaten ourselves. And if we don't go down there now, Mr. Luggs will eat everything before we even have a chance. You know how he is; that guy is a pig!" But, after we have breakfast, you tell me where my children are. No excuses!" Clarvoya nodded.
"I understand." She agreed. "Alright. After breakfast, I'll tell you where your beloved children are. No excuses. You have my word." And with that, the three ghosts went out of the room to the kitchen.
"Your children have just gone to school." Clarvoya told the parents after they had their breakfast.
"Then I must get them out of it." Lydia said. "It's not their school. Who knows what they'll do." She was about to go, when her husband stopped her.
"Whoa, whoa." He told her. "I know you want them back darling, so do I. But, they wanted to be human kids after all. Let them learn in a human school and then we'll get them."
"But, but…"
"They'll be fine. Human School will be good for them." Lydia sighed.
"Fine." And that was that. They would wait until the kids got home from school, and then they would bring them home again.
Henry was about to make a picture on the easel when he saw that someone else was occupying the easel.
"Hey!" Henry spoke. "I was going to use the easel!" The young Toad looked at him.
"Well, that's too bad. I was here first. You're going to have to wait your turn." He turned back to his painting.
"How long will that take?" The Toad turned back around to him.
"How should I know? After I'm done painting my picture."
"Well, are you almost done?" The Toad didn't answer. Instead, he turned back to his painting and continued painting. Henry cleared his throat.
"Did you hear what I said? I said, are you almost…"
"I heard what you said! You asked if I was almost done."
"Well, are you?" The Toad was too busy painting to answer. Henry tried again. "Are you?" There was no answer. Henry had enough of this.
"You're done!" He decided for him and ran towards the boy. The little Toad looked around and screamed as Henry plunged into him, pinning him down.
"HELP! HELP!" The Toad screamed, flailing his arms and legs. "HELP, HELP! TEACHER!" The teacher turned around and gasped as she saw Henry on the now crying Toad.
"TODD!" The teacher yelled and ran towards them. Henry then saw the picture that the Toad was painting. It was a picture of two dinosaurs. One big, one small. The small one was green and the big one was half-painted. Henry picked up a brush and painted a black mustache upon the two dinosaurs.
"There!" He told the Toad. "Now, you're done!" He was then yanked up by the mad teacher.
"TODD TOADSON!" She looked at him. "What on earth do you think you're doing?! Now, apologize to Justin this instant!"
"But…" Henry started. The teacher helped Justin to his feet. She looked back at Henry. "Apologize!" Henry sighed. He looked at Justin.
"Sorry Justin." The teacher smiled.
"See?" She said. "See how powerful that word can be?"
"Sorry that you didn't give me the easel when I asked." Henry continued. He then stuck out his tongue at him and then walked away. The teacher was mad again.
"TODD! TODD, YOU COME BACK HERE! TODD!" The teacher sighed. She consoled Justin who was crying again.
"He ruined my picture!" He sobbed.
"There, there, Justin. I'm sure your picture was great. You can make a new one." She ripped the old sheet out of the easel, revealing a new sheet underneath. "There." She then left to throw the old sheet away and to confront Henry. Justin started to paint a new picture of the dinosaurs.
For the rest of the day, the kids got in a lot of trouble. Henry pulled at a girl's hair, wrecked a boy's building made out of playing blocks, and stole and drank out of a boy's apple juice. Orville kept interrupting the teacher, stole chalk at recess, and spilled grape juice all over the floor. Both boys threw paper airplanes, disrupted naptime, and let the pet guina pig run loose. Both were sent to the principal's office.
"You two deserve a nice, long time-out when we get home. Cory and Todd's mom told them when she on their way home. "I had to come home early to pick you guys up."
"Sorry!" The two said together.
"Yeah, I'm sure you are. I can't believe you two would do this; you two never misbehave."
"Get used to it, lady!" Henry stated. "There'll be plenty more mischief down the road!" He and his twin high-fived.
They drove to the house, got out, and went into the house. The mom then gasped when she saw Kathy tied up.
"Kathy, my goodness!" She knelt to the floor and untied the poor nanny. "What on earth happened to you?"
"Your two boys tied me up." Kathy explained. The mom was confused.
"My boys? I don't get it; they adore you." Kathy got up to her feet and went to get her coat.
"Well, I don't get it either, but they did. Now as you excuse me, I must be going. I was tied up nearly all day and my granddaughter is coming over. Good day to you!" And with that, she left. The mom glared at the boys who were both sniggering.
"You two have added additional minutes to your time-outs. Now, onto the chairs!" She pulled out two chairs for the two boys to sit on. "Now, don't move until I say you can." She then left the room.
"They're home." Clarvoya told the two parents back into the mansion.
"Already?" Lydia asked. Clarvoya nodded.
"They got sent to the principal's office and got sent home early."
"Oh, dear. I knew I should've taken them home this morning. Well, when those two are back home, their mama will have a talk with them. Come on, I want my babies back!" With that, the three ghosts flew off and out of the mansion (after comforting the rest of the family members).
"Henry, Orville!" Lydia said when she flew into the kitchen. The boys turned around and saw her.
"Mom?" They both asked, hopping up out of their seats, still in their Toad bodies.
"What are you doing here?" Henry asked.
"Getting my babies back." Lydia replied.
"How did you find us?" Orville questioned.
"I led your parents here." Clarvoya spoke up. "They missed you two dearly. They want you both home." Henry folded his hands across his chest.
"Well, we're not going!" He declared. "We're staying here."
"Yeah!" Orville added. "We want to be human kids again." Henry was surprised at Orville.
"Really?" He whispered. "Yesterday you were unsure about all of this."
"Well, that was yesterday." Orville whispered back. "and this is today. A fella can change his mind." Henry shrugged and both boys looked at their mom again.
"Well, I'm sorry." Lydia told them. "But you're coming home and you're going to give those bodies to back to those kids."
"No." Henry said.
"We don't want to." Orville agreed.
"I know you don't want to," Lydia began. "but you must."
"Why?" Henry asked. Lydia was about to answer when Danny's voice could be heard.
"Mom told me to tell you that your time-outs are over and get dressed for your baseball game." He then saw the ghosts and screamed. Before he could bolt out of the room, Lydia stopped him in his tracks.
"Please," She told him. "Convince my boys to leave these bodies and come home. Danny stopped screaming and was confused.
"Wait, hold the phone. "Are you telling me that ghosts are in my brothers' bodies?" Lydia nodded.
"Well, that explains all the weirdness I've heard them doing today." Lydia nodded again. Danny looked determined and went to the two boys.
"Please," He begged. "Release my brothers."
"No." The twins said at once.
"Orville, Henry," Lydia began. "You need to give this boy his brothers back." Both boys crossed their hands in front of their chests.
"We're tired of being ghosts." Orville said.
"Yeah!" Henry added. "We just want to be regular kids again." Lydia sighed.
"I know, but your daddy and I miss you at home, along with everybody else"
"Then why don't you join us?" Orville asked. Henry beamed.
"Yeah!" He piped up. "Find some bodies and go into them! We all can be humans again!" Lydia sighed. She shook her head.
"We can't do that to the humans… er, Toads… whatever. Just come home and…"
"No!" Orville declared. "We're not going. We're staying here."
"We're staying here!" Henry echoed.
"Oh." Lydia said. She then had tears in her eyes and cried softly. Danny cried too.
"I just want my brothers back." He sobbed. The boys were confused.
"Mama, what's wrong?" Henry asked her.
"We didn't mean to make you cry." Orville said.
"Boys," Neville told the twins. "You have to think of other people's feelings, not just yours."
"But we told her that she can be in other people's bodies. You all can. That way we can all be a human family again." Neville ignored the two and continued consoling his wife. Orville looked at Henry.
"Henry," He started. "I think I know what we must do." Henry nodded in agreement.
"I think I know too." He looked at his mother. "Okay, Mommy. We'll leave these bodies." Lydia cheered up.
"Terrific!" She cheered.
"I knew you boys would come to your senses." Clarvoya said. The twins flew to the weeping Danny.
"We're sorry that we stole your brothers' bodies." Orville apologized.
"Yeah!" Henry spoke as well. "We're sorry. We'll give them their bodies back now." And with that, the two ghosts popped out of the Toad bodies. The Toads were confused. Danny looked up at them, a smile spreading across his face.
"What happened?" Cory wanted to know.
"I don't know," Todd said. "but it was sure strange."
"TODD, CORY!" Danny shouted, embracing the two in a hug.
"DANNY!" The two toads hugged their brother as well. Danny looked up at the twin ghosts. The Toads gasped as they saw them.
"It's okay." Danny assured the boys. He looked at Henry and Orville.
"Thanks for giving my brothers their bodies back." He thanked them. The Toads were confused.
"Huh?" Todd wanted to know. "Danny, what are you talking about?"
"Yeah!" Cory put in. "What are you talking about?"
"Thanks for giving Henry and me your bodies." Orville thanked the boys. The boys looked at one another.
"Do you know what this ghost is talking about, Todd?" Cory questioned Todd. Todd shrugged.
"No clue." He admitted. Then, they heard the door open and their mom came in. The ghosts vanished into thin air. Cory and Todd ran to her.
"MOM!" The two shouted, hugging her.
"My word!" Their mom said. "You're hugging me as if you haven't seen me since yesterday. Come, get dressed in your uniforms and let's go to baseball. Dad's already waiting in the car." And so, Danny and Mrs. Toadson went downstairs, and the kids got dressed in their uniforms and also went downstairs.
Outside, Orville sighed and looked at his mom.
"Mom," He started. "I'm sorry that Henry and I ran away and possessed those two boys. But…" He pointed an accusing finger at Henry. "Henry started it!" Henry shot a look at Orville.
"Hey!" He snapped. He frowned, and then, he too, looked at his mom.
"Yeah, we're sorry. We just, you know, miss being regular kids." Lydia smiled.
"I know." She then hugged them. "I'm just glad that my babies are back. We all miss being alive, but we'll make the best of it together in the afterlife as a family. Now come on, let's go to the mansion. Everyone's been worried to death about you." The ghosts then went home.
"Henry, Orville." King Boo said to the two at the mansion. They were in their room playing with their toys. The two looked up at King Boo. Booris was next to him. "I know you two had quite an adventure, and I'm willing to offer you two something."
"What?" Orville asked him.
"Yeah, King Boo." Henry added. "What is it?"
"I know how you two miss being mortals, so I came up with a plan."
"Actually," Booris put in. "It was my plan."
"Quiet, Booris." King Boo told him. Booris didn't say anything else. The Boo king looked at the twins again. "How would you like it if I invited a mortal here inside the mansion." Both boys' eyes lit up.
"Really?" Orville questioned out loud. "You would do that for us?" King Boo nodded.
"Of course." The boys cheered. King Boo then rubbed his Boo hands together, looking mischievous. "And since we're ghosts, we'll scare the living daylights out of him."
"Yes!" Henry looked at Orville. "And we're play Hide and Seek, and we'll be good hiders, won't we Orville?" Orville nodded.
"Then we better start practicing."
"Right!" And so, the ghostly kids started playing Hide and Seek while King Boo and Booris left the room.
"How are you going to invite a mortal here?" Booris asked the king.
"Why, I'll tell him/her that they won this here mansion in a contest." Booris was confused.
"But your Highness, who would honestly believe that they give out mansions in contests?" King Boo smiled crookedly.
"Exactly." Booris got what his boss was saying.
"Oh." The two boos laughed evilly as they made their way back into the throne room.
