Minoko changed into a black tracksuit with purple accents keeping the jacket unzipped revealing a white shirt underneath. She jogged in place for a bit, trying the feel of her tennis shoes. Looking around there were quite a lot of examinees gathered in this battle center, meaning more people to compete points with.I have to move fast, she thought as she secured her ponytail, and clipped her bangs out of her face, her bracelets making clicking sounds as they hit each other.
"And START!"
At the sound of the voice, Minoko immediately ran. Halfway through she wonders if something was wrong 'cause she was the only one inside the fake city. "What are you doing? There are no countdowns in disasters!"
Nevermind then! She thought, eyes scanning for robots.
Minoko spots her first robot, a one pointer. She ran towards it, despite the threats it was programmed to say. She jumped out of the way as it came down, and took it as an opportunity to tap it with her left hand, exchanging it with a piece of crumpled paper. Using one of her hair clips, she exchanged it with a small bag, where she put the crumpled paper.
Once the bag was secure around her, Minoko ran in search for more robots. Two one pointers came her way and she let an outstretched left hand touch them. She ended up with two more crumpled papers in her bag. Before the exam started, she filled her pocket dimension with stuff like crumpled paper if she needed to swap out random things, as well as actual weapons ranging from a bat to a pocket knife. There's also rope in there somewhere if the exam needed her to capture something. Needless to say, she tried coming in prepared.
By this point, the other examinees had caught up to her, and the area was getting crowded. Minoko decides to scurry around the more secluded places as there are bound to be robots there and less examinees. Just as she turns the corner, a robot jumps her, making the girl stagger backwards. She barely got her footing back when the three pointer attacked her again. Twisting her body to the side, she managed to dodge the incoming arm. Her left hand reached forward and in place of the robot, a crumpled paper fell to the ground. Minoko grinned as she collected it.That's six points…technically. Will be, once I actually destroy them.
She continued the alleyway and found herself facing off with another one pointer, and a two pointer just behind it. Minoko ran at it full force as it drew its arm back. She jumped up when it thrusted the arm forward. She landed on the arm and made her way up the robot, dodging another attack from its other arm. She jumped forward, curling as her body rolled. Her left hand landed on the robot's head and she used it to push herself up. Behind the one pointer, the two pointer readied an attack, but Minoko didn't let it get far as she landed in front of it and quickly tapped it with her left hand. Two pieces of crumpled paper landed on the ground.
Minoko winced as she stuffed the paper in her bag. Her head pounded as in the back of her mind, she could feel the robots making a racket in the pocket dimension.I need to get rid of them or else, this is gonna turn into a migraine, she thought, searching for the tallest building in the area.
Minoko knew better than anyone that shedoes notfunction well with a migraine.
She climbed the emergency ladder on the side of one of the buildings. Her feet hit the floor of the rooftop. She looked around the area and found two one pointers patrolling the area south of the building she was on.Perfectshe thought. Grabbing a piece of crumpled paper from her bag. She held it with her left hand, right above the robots, and thought of the three pointer she had collected earlier, before exchanging them as she let the paper go.
The three pointer made a whirring sound as it appeared. A loud crash followed soon after as it fell on the two one pointers at the bottom. Minoko wasted no time and went to exchange the papers with the robots one by one on the edge of the roof, letting them drop to their demise.
Just as she reached the last paper in her bag, the ground shook as loud footsteps approached her.
Minoko whipped her body around, the paper in her hand changing to a long pipe rather than the initially planned robot, as she swung it hard. The robot staggered backward, but didn't fall over, only sustaining damage to its side. Minoko took this as an opportunity to thrust the pipe through the robot's middle. Its speech turned slurred as it shut down. Minoko exhaled, walking back to the ledge as she swapped the pipe with a crumpled paper, then the crumpled paper with the last robot in her pocket dimension, and she let it fall. She glanced back at the one pointer that was limp on the roof. She was lucky that these ones had soft enough outer shells that even her level of strength was able to penetrate. If it was a two or three pointer, she probably wouldn't have been so lucky.
Minoko walked to the east side of the building and jumped off the edge, where she could reach the next rooftop and the next, and the next, as these buildings were built relatively close to each other. Just as she reached a big gap, her eyes caught three robots in the distance. Keeping a close eye on them, she tapped herself with her right hand.
She found herself in her pocket dimension which welcomed her with skid marks from the robots. Minoko grimaced at the mess she was going to clean up later before imagining one of the three robots she saw earlier. Once she had full focus on the one pointer, she exchanged herself with it. She found herself in the middle of two, one pointer robots, which immediately recognized her as a target. Minoko let her left hand reach for the robot on that side, as she dodged the one on her right's attack. She was granted space as she caught a crumpled paper, which she promptly stuffed in her bag. Minoko dodged the incoming leg that was aiming for her torso. That was a close one,she thought, feeling a small sting on her right arm. She reached for the robot but wasn't able to touch it as it backed off.
Annoyed, Minoko rushed for it. The robot aimed both arms at her head, readying an attack, when Minoko slid down to the ground. She tapped the robot from underneath, letting the crumpled paper hit her head then fall to the ground.Thought you were sneaky. She crushed the paper slightly before putting it in her bag.
She continued to look for robots in nearby areas, this time with less difficulty, tapping them and exchanging them with pieces of crumpled papers. Once she feels her head starting to hurt she drops them off on top of a building. She disposes of the last one, and searches the roof for robots she can swap her body with. In the distance there was a three pointer, and a two pointer that she can easily collect. Her right hand reaches for her shoulder when a loud crash to her right. Her focus shifted to construction beams of the building across her, hurling towards an unsuspecting examinee. "WATCH OUT!"
Minoko's fingers reached her shoulder and she didn't waste time in her pocket dimension, swapping herself with the beams. She came back to the real world falling down, the purple haired boy's tired eyes widening at the sight of her. Minoko grasped one of her bracelets and threw it down to the ground before tapping herself again bringing her to the pocket dimension and swapping with the bracelet, landing herself safely beside the boy.
The confused look the boy gave her as he looked back to the sky and to her was understandable considering how time works in the pocket dimension, the whole thing happened in an instant. "You alright?" Minoko tilted her head at him, trying to search for any injuries.
"Y-yeah."
Before they could divulge in a longer conversation, Present Mic's voice echoed through the fake city. "FOUR MINUTES LEFT!"
Minoko perked up, she didn't realize how much time had already passed. "I gotta go, goodluck!" She exclaimed as she ran towards the direction she saw the robots.
Instead of points, however, she was met with competition as examinees dominated the area. Consecutive crashing sounds followed the multiple robot scraps on the ground. Minoko clicked her tongue. She doesn't remember how many points she has in total, so she's quite nervous about not finding more robots. She ran down the road, and spotted a one pointer on the roof.
Pressed for time, she didn't bother climbing the roof and instead focused her attention on the area before taping herself. She swapped positions with the robot and she found herself on the rooftop. She grabbed another hair clip from her hair, "Look out below!" Minoko warned the examinee below the building before swapping the accessory with the robot and letting it fall down. Once it crashed, Minoko exchanged positions with its scraps, rather than using the stairs.
She landed on the ground, and her eyes were met with a boy with spiked black hair, a wide blue headband with a white lined pattern keeping it in place.
"How did you…?"
"Please, that wasn't the weirdest thing in this world," Minoko laughed.
"THREE MINUTES LEFT!"
Minoko and the boy both flinched at the announcement. Before she could go off looking for more robots, the ground started to shake. "What's going on?" She asked, frantically looking for the cause of the shaking.
"Is that…" the boy pointed to a huge robot coming towards them, two buildings away. It took a step forward and that gap turned into one building.
"We have to run!" Minoko exclaimed, as she and the other examinee tried to get away from the giant killer robot.
"Shit," the boy cursed, "we're too close!"
Looking behind, Minoko's eyes widened as the foot of the robot was already above them. She could hear the other examinees screaming for the exam to stop, only getting a "Two minute left" in return.
Minoko's heart was pounding on her chest. There was no way this guy was gonna get out of this. "Ah, to heck with it!" She stopped running and turned around, reaching for the giant robot's foot with her right hand.
The zero pointer disappeared, leaving Minoko panting and shaking. "Where did it—" she didn't hear the boy's next words as pressure erupted from her head, and a pained noise escaped her lips.
Minoko frantically searched the ground for something she could use. She needed that robot out of her pocket dimension before her head split open. Her left hand reached for one of the robot scraps on the ground. It was light enough that she could lift it up.
She glanced at the other examinees before throwing the scrap away from them as she swapped the zero pointer back. The giant robot landed backwards on the ruined buildings it came from. It was still whirring, but it was unable to get up.
Everyone's attention was captured by the sound of horns, "TIME'S UP! EXAM OVER!" Minoko sighed in relief before letting her body slump to the ground.
"Hey!" The boy from earlier ran up to her and crouched down, "Are you alright?"
"Y-yeah," Minoko said, feeling the migraine slowly subsiding.
The boy's eyes wandered down to her hands, "Are you sure? You're shaking." He looked back to where the majority of the examinees were being looked over by an old woman for injuries. "I could call Recovery Girl here if you want?"
Minoko shook her head, clasping her hands together, "I'm fine, just, Quirk Drawbacks ya know?"
The boy visibly relaxed at her reassurance. "I think introductions are overdue at this point," he chuckled, offering his left hand to her. "I'm Awase Yosetsu. Thank you for saving me!" He gave her a small bow.
Minoko let a smile form on her lips, "Kaeda Minoko." She shook his hand, her pinkie lifted so as to not activate her quirk.
"Here you go, dearies," Recovery Girl approached them with gummy candy in her hands. "Something to replenish that stamina of yours."
Minoko and Awase both got one and thanked the woman. The gummy took effect quickly as Minoko's hands lessened their trembling.
"Okay, everyone seems clear here," Recovery Girl said. "You can all go get changed and head home. The results should be mailed to you within the next week."
"Well then," Awase stood up, offering a hand, and helped Minoko to stand up. "I hope we get in."
"Yeah."
Minoko stretched her body as she exited the building. She watched as the sky started turning orange, letting out a sigh as she relaxed her body.
"Kaeda!"
Minoko turned around, "Ah! Kirishima," she smiled.
"How was it?" Kirishima asked as he fell into step with her. "I think I did pretty well. They were fragile enough that my arms could cut through them."
Minoko's eyes widened in alarm, "With your arm?!"
"Yeah they—Oh," Kirishima said in realization followed by a laugh. "We never told each other our quirks!" He exclaimed before lifting an arm, "My quirk is Hardening, I can harden any part of my body." His arm then turned stiff and sharp.
Minoko nodded in understanding. "My quirk is called Exchange. Anything that my right hand touches is stored in a pocket dimension and can be exchanged with something that my left hand is holding," she said.
"Oh! So, you're like switching things out!" Kirishima said.
"Yeah!" Minoko exclaimed.
"Sounds like a complicated quirk," Kirishima commented. "How'd you get your points? It's not exactly attack-y." He took note of the girl's furrowed eyebrows. "Sorry! Was that a bit personal?"
Sure Minoko from ten months ago would probably be discouraged by the comment—heck she'd be lying if she said it didn't affect her at all—but she's confident that she has what it takes. "No, it's fine," Minoko shook her head. "It's just a long story."
Kirishima hummed, looking up at the upcoming school gate, an idea coming to mind.
"Are you going to the train station?"
"Yeah."
"Great! We can talk while we walk!"
"That rhymed!"
"Oh! It did!"

TRIVIA!!
Quirk: Exchange
Quirk Drawbacks:
Putting things in the pocket dimension uses stamina, overuse of her quirk can cause fatigue and shaky hands. Minoko's pocket dimension is linked with her subconscious. Due to this, if the things stored are messing around in there, she gets a migraine.
