Minoko was walking towards U.A. feeling a whole lot better than yesterday.Nothing that sleep and some good ol' strawberry parfait couldn't fix!She hummed as she continued down the road, the school gates already in sight. "Huh?" She stopped when she saw a crowd of reporters and camera people in front of the school.
"You there!" One of the reporters exclaimed, rushing to her and thrusting a mic to her face. "You're a student of UA. How is All Might as a teacher?!"
Hero Media. She thought as she made her way around the woman. "Uh, he's okay, we've only had one class with him so far."
"What is he teaching?" Another reporter popped out from her right, a camera zooming into her face from behind him.
A different reporter pushed through the crowd to reach her,"Why do you think he suddenly became a teacher?"
"Does All Might show favoritism as a teacher?"
"How do you feel about the Number One hero teaching you?!"
"Umm," Minoko tried to get around the number of people, keeping her hands close to herself, "I actually have class in a few minutes."
"Wait! Please answer our questions first!"
"Sorry," Minoko said, maneuvering around the crowd, "but there's literally five minutes before homeroom starts. I really have to go." She could see the end of the crowd, she just had to get through and she'd be home free.
"WAIT!" A hand shot out of the crowd and pulled her by the arm, making Minoko stumble. She tried to catch herself but instead her right hand landed on the man's side, making him disappear.
The crowd released a collective gasp. "What have you done to him!"
"Was that your quirk?!"
"Does U.A. just let in kids who can't even control their quirk?"
"Bring him back!"
They started to crowd her again. Minoko stepped back, trying to find a way out of the situation, when a familiar white cloth came to her view, wrapping themselves around her. She felt a tug and next thing she knew, she was being pulled out of the crowd.
"Please stop harassing the students," a familiar voice said.
Minoko looked up, "Mr. Aizawa!"
"Who are you?"
"A teacher," he said. "Now, are you going to leave or am I going to have to call the cops? You are close to intruding on private property."
"That girl did something to one of the reporters! How can you just let her in there?"
Mr. Aizawa glanced down at Minoko, who clicked her tongue at the accusation. "She asked you to let her through and that reporter latched his hand on her arm tugging her back. Her quirk activates at a five point touch, so when she stumbled forward and accidentally touched the reporter, it activated her quirk."
Minoko reached for a hair clip and crouched to the ground. She replaced it with the reporter who came to the world with a confused look. "What the—you!"
Mr. Aizawa moved in front of the girl,"She kept her hands close, yet you were stubborn and pulled her back. You cannot blame that on her," he said, making the reported scowl before stomping back to the crowd. "Now, please leave."
"We wanted to ask a few questions about All Might!"
Mr. Aizawa sighed, looking at Minoko, "Kaeda, head to class. Tell the others I'll be there in a bit I just have to deal with…" he narrowed his eyes at the crowd, "a situation."
Minoko bowed, "I will. Thank you, Mr. Aizawa."
Mr. Aizawa nodded at her before gesturing to the school building, "Hurry along."
"Yes sir!"
"Kaeda, please refrain from coming into class so late!" Iida scolded.
Minoko walked over to her desk waving her hand dismissively, "It's not my fault, honest."
Kirishima waved at her from his seat. "Were you bombarded by reporters too?" he asked.
Minoko waved back, dropping her bag to the side "Yeah. Mr. Aizawa is taking care of them right now."
"Well, in any case," Iida started, "We should all get ready as he might arrive any time now."
Oh Iida, always so strict,Minoko thought as she sat down.
A few moments later, the classroom door opened and Mr. Aizawa entered, walking to the table in the front of the room. "Good job on your battle training yesterday," he started. "I looked at the video clips and your scores." He switched his attention to the left side of the classroom.
"Bakugou, you have talent, stop wasting it by being immature."
Bakugou scowled, "I know."
"And Midoriya," he looked at the boy behind the blond. "Another busted arm? You're not gonna be able to use the excuse that you can't control your quirk forever." Midoriya lowered his head. "I hate repeating myself. Once you get that under control, you'll be able to do more." Midoriya looked up with a smile. "Feel urgency, Midoriya."
Mr. Aizawa then addressed the class once again, "Now onto homeroom business," he started, "Sorry it's sudden, but…"
The atmosphere tensed. What is it this time?Minoko thought.Another surprise test?
"I want you to pick a class president."
The class released a sigh of relief. Finally something normal.
"President? Choose me!" Kirishima exclaimed.
"Me too!" Kaminari said.
"I wanna do it!" Jirou followed.
Next thing she knew, the whole class was raising their hands and yelling. "Silence!" Iida's voice overpowered everyone else's."You'll be responsible in leading the masses. This job should not be taken lightly. This role requires trust, and if we are to choose democratically…we should conduct a vote!"
Iida…Minoko thought as she stared at the boy.Your hand is shaking with how high it's raised. She smiled in amusement.
"It will be hard to say we trust each other since we've just met," Asui pointed out.
"Yeah," Kirishima said, "everyone'll just vote for themselves."
"Then that's even better!" Iida exclaimed, "Whoever gains multiple votes must've really earned this position." he looked over to the front of the classroom. "What do you think, Mr. Aizawa?"
Minoko shifted her attention to their homeroom teacher. That damn sleeping bag again."Do whatever you want, just have results before your next class starts," Mr. Aizawa said, zipping the yellow sleeping bag close and promptly dropping to the floor.
"Thank you very much!"
The election results were written on the board with everyone with one vote apart from the three on the top.Wait a minute. She eyed the second name on the list.Who the heck voted for me?!She scanned the classroom for the two people who voted for her.
Minoko clicked her tongue when she found Ojirou and Hagakure giving each other thumbs ups.Subtle, she thought. It's not that shehatesthe idea, but she tried being class pres. back in middle school as part of her, 'Self Discovery Journey', and yeah, she does not recommend it.
"I got three!" Midoriya exclaimed.
Bakugou stood up from his seat,"Who voted for the damn nerd!"
Sero looked at him, "Did you really think anyone would vote for you?"
Behind her, Minoko hears Iida's confused voice, "One vote?"
"So you voted for yourself after all, huh, Iida?" Kaminari smirked at him.
"Not at all!" Iida exclaimed. "I do not know who voted for me, but I am honored to know that one of our classmates would have enough faith in me that they'd use their vote on me!"
Minoko couldn't help but chuckle.Well, I mean you already act like it, so why not?She thought back to the paper she had written 'Iida Tenya' on.
"Wait a minute," Kirishima started, "We have a tie for vice president."
Minoko looked back up the board, and eyed the name below hers.Yaoyorozu also has two votes."What do you want to do about it, Midoriya?" she asked.
"Huh? Me?" Midoriya pointed to himself.
Minoko leaned back on her chair, letting it hit Kaminari's desk. "Yeah, I mean, youareclass pres."
"Yeah, take the stage, Midoriya!" Sero exclaimed.
"Oh, uh, okay?" Midoriya walked to the front and faced them. "Since we did vote before, maybe we can redo the voting? But just with Kaeda and Yaoyorozu?"
"That sounds alright to me!" Ashido exclaimed.
They took out pieces of paper again and wrote down the names of their choice. Naturally Minoko scribbled the name 'Yaoyorozu Momo.'She's the more capable one of us two. Yaoyorozu always sounds like she knows what she's doing.
The vote was unanimous. Minoko's name had seven tallies beside her name, while Yaoyorozu had fourteen. "Umm, it seems like Yaoyorozu is our vice president," Midoriya said.
Minoko felt a hand on her shoulder, "Don't mind," Kaminari said.
"Okay then." Mr. Aizawa stood up, "Midoriya is Class President, and Yaoyorozu is Vice President."
"Aah, I'm hungry," Minoko said as she entered the lunch room, Kirishima, Kaminari, and Sero right behind her.
"Tell me about it," Sero said as they fell in line, "Mr. Ectoplasm's class feels longer than it did."
"Why are we even learning about derivatives?" Kaminari asked, "Are we gonna bore the villains to surrendering?"
"The line's so long," Kirishima complained.
"Hey! You don't get to complain," Kaminari exclaimed, pushing Kirishima forward slightly so as to get him moving, "You were the one who justhadto use the bathroom before we came here."
"Can we not talk about bathroom trips when in line for food," Minoko said.
"Or in a room where people are eating," Sero added.
"But Kirishima needs to learn his lesson!"
"What lesson? You know it's unhealthy to—" Kirishima was cut off when a loud alarm sounded, making the entire cafeteria quiet down.
Kaminari groaned, "What is it this time? We just got here."
"Security Three has been broken."A robotic voice said."All students evacuate to the rooftop."
Minoko tilted her head, "What's security three?"
"Someone broke into U.A.!" An upperclassman yelled, making the whole lunchroom burst into a panic.
EH?Minoko was suddenly swept away by a crowd. Not wanting to get trampled, she followed along, pulling her arms to her chest. "Kirishima?! Kaminari?! Sero?!" she called out to the three who disappeared into the crowd.
Minoko was carried to the cramped hallway. "Hey!" she exclaimed as an elbow hit her side. How many times am I gonna get crowded today??A particularly big student with a mutation quirk bumped into her making her stumble forward. She tripped on something and she found herself on the ground. "Ow!" She exclaimed, curling up on herself, unable to stand due to the amount of students.
"EVERYONE!"
That voice…Minoko looked up, trying to see past the many heads.Iida!
"Everything is alright! It's just the media!" Iida yelled. "There is no need to panic! This is U.A., let us act in a way that reflects our prestigious school!"
Everyone visibly calmed down and slowly began exiting with much more order. Minoko stayed down on the floor, letting everyone else pass. Once it was only the last of the students leaving, there was much more space. Minoko attempted to get up, only to find herself stumbling back to the ground with a hiss. She looked down at her foot and found it swelling.
A hand clutched her arm,"Come on," a tired voice said.
Minoko whipped her head around in alarm, but calmed when she saw a familiar tired-looking face. "You're…"
The boy threw her arm over his shoulder, and wrapped a hand around her waist. Counting down, he pulled her up to her feet. "From the entrance exam? Yeah."
"Thank you," Minoko said, as he led her to the infirmary.
"Just returning a favor, "the boy said.
Minoko hummed, "Wait a minute, you passed the entrance exam too?"
He raised an eyebrow at her, "Obviously? What? Do I look like some guy who just randomly steals uniforms?"
"No," Minoko said, "But now that you mentioned it, maybe you are."
"I can just drop you here, ya know?"
"That wouldn't be very heroic," she comments.
"Well, it's a good thing I'm not a heroics student then," he said.
"What?" Minoko tilted her head, "Didn't you take the hero course entrance exam?"
"I did, but I didn't make the cut," the boy re-adjusted his grip on her, "I'm in the General Education course."
"Oh, I see…" Before Minoko could even think of anything comforting to say, the boy sighed.
"Not for long though," he said. "I have a plan B."
"... And that is?"
"A secret."
"Why mention it then!"
"Oh, well will you look at that," the boy changed the topic, "it's the infirmary." He briefly lets go of her arm to slide the door open.
"Not another one," Recovery Girl sighed, "Sit down over there dearie, I just have a few more patients and I'll get to you." She gestured to a chair before going back to attending—what Minoko guesses are students who also got injured in the commotion.
The boy helped her sit down. "Thank you."
"Again, a favor for a favor," he said. "I have to get back to class." He gave her a small nod before turning to leave.
"Wait a minute," she said, making the boy partially turn with an eyebrow raised at her, "I'm Kaeda Minoko. What's your name?"
The boy gave her a lazy grin, "Shinsou Hitoshi."
Minoko opened the classroom door and was immediately met by three people. "Kaeda! Where have you been?!" Kaminari exclaimed.
"Sorry! We tried to find you really," Kirishima insisted.
"But when it calmed down," Sero continued. the upperclassmen won't let us go back 'cause we'd be going against the flow of people."
"Are you alright?" Kirishima asked.
"Yeah," Minoko said, "Well I needed to go to the infirmary, 'cause I injured my foot, but a Gen Ed guy helped me get there, so it's all good really!"
Kaminari sighed, "But seriously, all that trouble for the media?"
"It's kinda odd though," Minoko pointed out, making the three give her questioning looks. "I mean, yeah, the media's pushy at times, but to this extent? Not to mention they wereinU.A.? You can't tell me that the biggest hero school in the country has such crappy security that news reporters were able to break in."
Sero hummed, "That is true," he said. "Pretty sure I saw metal gates covering the school."
"How'd they get in then?" Kirishima crossed his arms in wonder, "A quirk, maybe?"
They didn't get any conclusions as their conversation was cut short. "Everyone, please sit down." Yaoyorozu stood at the front of the class and watched everyone quit their chattering and walk back to their seats. She then looks over to her side, "Let's begin, class rep."
"N-now then," Midoriya's voice shook, "we will decide the other class officers. But, before anything else, can I say something?" This prompted Minoko's eyebrow to raise. "I think…Iida Tenya should be class president!"
Midoriya looked over to where Iida sat, "He took control of the situation in such a cool way. I think it's right that he became president."
Looking behind her, she found Iida staring at the front with a stunned expression. Kirishima broke the silence, "If Midoriya thinks it, then I'm fine with that too," he said, "Iida did the most at the cafeteria."
"Yeah, he was practically the exit sign!" Kaminari exclaimed.
"Don't waste time," Mr. Aizawa said. "I don't care so just hurry up," he added before laying back down on the floor.
"If that's what the class president wants," Iida stood up from his seat, "then I, Iida Tenya, will promise to fulfill the duties of the class president from now on."
"We're counting on you, Emergency Exit Iida!"
It was a new day, and their boring morning classes were finally finished and it was time for the frankly more exciting heroics class. Mr. Aizawa stood behind his podium facing them, "It's been decided that today's Hero Basics will be taught by me, All Might, and one more person."
Sero raised a hand, "What will we be doing?"
Mr. Aizawa held up a card with the word 'RESCUE' on it. "Anything from disasters to shipwrecks. Rescue Training."
"Seems rough," Kaminari whispered from behind her.
"Yeah, but isn't it the main goal of a hero?" Minoko asked.
"It is the epitome of Hero work," Kirishima agreed.
"Water rescue is my specialty, ribbit," Asui said.
"Hey, I'm still talking," Mr. Aizawa said, stopping the chattering. "For this training you can choose whether or not to wear your hero costume 'cause some of them might limit your movements." He clicked on a remote, revealing the suitcases on the wall. "The training area is a bit far, so we'll be taking the bus."
"Start preparing."
The class was outside the building, waiting for the bus. Minoko hummed, "I'll put this away for now," she says, making her cloak disappear. It's pretty hot today. I can always just get it back when we get there. From where she sat, she spotted Midoriya. "Is Midoriya not wearing his costume?" she asked.
"Oh, I heard it's still in repairs," Sero said, making Minoko hum in understanding.
A loud whistle broke through the air, "Gather up, Class 1-A!"
"Where'd he get a whistle?" Minoko asked as she stood up.
"To board the bus smoothly," Iida started, "please create two lines, in accordance with your class number!"
They did as they were told and just as Aoyama and Ashido boarded the bus, they stopped. "Iida, the seating is different."
A dejected Iida rode with them to the training site. Minoko watched him wallow from her seat, which somehow ended up in the middle of the five seats at the back—sitting in between Sero and Kouda. Her ears caught wind of what Asui was saying. "Midoriya, your quirk is similar to All Might's."
Huh, now that she mentions it,Minoko thought.Itispretty close to All Might's except…
"But Tsu," Kirishima said, "All Might doesn't break his bones when he uses his quirk. They just look the same." He leaned back on his seat, "But it's cool, having a strength enhancement quirk I mean. It's showy and versatile." He then hardened his arm, "My hardening quirk is good for close combat, but it looks so plain."
Minoko frowned at this, but nodded as Midoriya says, "But it's a really good quirk, one that fits a pro."
"Pro huh?" He smiled, "But the Hero world has a lot to do with popularity."
"My navel lazer is pro level in both strength and looks," Aoyama said, eyes shining.
"Yeah," Ashido said, "but it's no good if it gives you a tummy ache."
"Well," Kirishima started, "if we're talking about strong and flashy quirks, Bakugou and Todoroki easily get top points."
"Bakugou always acts angry, so he'll never get popular," Asui pointed out.
"What the hell frog face! I will!" Bakugou exclaimed, standing up from his seat.
Minoko scrunched her face, leaning towards Sero, "He's so noisy.Thatwill surely give him attention," she said, making the boy beside her snicker.
"Oi! Don't think I don't hear you back there, Hair clips!"
"Hair clips?" She questioned, "Why is that the only thing your brain remembers?"
"He's too busy thinking of how to be a jerk that it takes up all the space he has up there," Sero said.
Bakugou scowled at them.
"It's amazing how we all just met," Kaminari started, "but we already got your personality figured out."
"DO YOU PEOPLE WANNA DIE?!"
"OI!" Mr. Aizawa called, "That's enough, we're almost there."
"Yes sir!"
Like Mr. Aizawa said, in a couple minutes, they arrived at the destination. Minoko followed her classmates off the bus. "Hey," she gave Kirishima a small push, "I heard you earlier. You don't need a flashy quirk to get popular. You're really kind, and have that warm aura around you. You are the embodiment of 'Sunshine kid' and I tell you that the people will eat that up."
"Sunshine kid?"
Minoko nodded, "It'll all work out I tell you," she smiled up at him, "So no more of that self-deprecating schtick, yeah?"
An arm wrapped itself around Kirishima's shoulders,"Oh, and that's coming from Ms. 'Todoroki Beat Me' herself."
Minoko narrowed her eyes at Kaminari,"I'm trying to be comforting, why are you like this?"
Kirishima chuckled at their antics, "Thanks, Kaeda!" he exclaimed, making the girl smile.
"Hello everyone!" Someone up front greeted them.
"Is that, Thirteen?"
Uraraka beamed, "Ah! I love Thirteen!"
The space hero put her hands on her hips, "Let's go inside, shall we?" She gestures to the dome shaped building behind her.
"Woah!" The class awed at the huge inside of the place. It had different areas, all obviously for different kinds of disaster ranging from fires to floods, to landslides!
"Welcome to the Unforeseen Simulation Joint, or in other words, USJ!"
Notes:
USJ time baby!! Thanks for reading the chapter, I hope you enjoyed it :D
TRIVIA!!
Minoko became class president during her 2nd year middle school after she told Aki a joking comment about wanting to do it, and the boy made it his mission to run her campaign the first two days of school, inevitably making her win the spot.
