The pressure of being around people is difficult for you, and your anxiety always seems to take over. You always struggle to find the right words to say and your stuttering makes you feel even more self-conscious. The fact that you have a crush on your corporal, Levi, only adds to the stress and uncertainty that you feel.
When he requested that you come to his office, you stood outside his door for what felt like an eternity before mustering up the courage to enter. Once you did, Levi seemed to be in an extremely agitated and frustrated state, which only worsened your nerves. He placed his fingers on his forehead and let out a deep sigh before stating, "What took you so long?"
"I-I'm sorry sir," you stutter out, bowing and trying to display your remorse for the situation. The combination of anxiety and fear makes it more difficult for you to express your thoughts and feelings, but you still try your best to apologize.
"Tch, never mind that," he says with a click of his tongue. "We have a far more important discussion at hand."
The uncertainty of Levi's intention and his obvious frustration makes you anxious and eager to receive the news. You wonder what he wants to discuss and why it warranted such a rushed summons. You find it difficult to maintain eye contact, as your anxiety and fear make it overwhelming to face your superior directly.
"And w-what is that sir?" you stutter out, trying to maintain your composure and not show your nervousness.
"Someone has told me—[Y/N]! Look at me," he hisses. The sudden outburst of violence in Levi's voice takes you by surprise, and you find yourself struggling to maintain your composure. As you look up to meet his gaze, you are instantly filled with discomfort and embarrassment, sweating and turning a bright shade of red as you stand there, frozen. Levi continues to stare at you, his piercing grey eyes drilling into your soul, making you feel as though he is seeing straight through you. Finally, he lets out a frustrated groan, breaking the silence. "Are you done?" he asks gruffly, his impatience evident in his tone.
"S-Sorry, sir," your voice trembled. The embarrassment you feel from Levi's impatience is amplified by the sudden appearance of your pet rabbit, which causes you to lose your composure entirely. Your voice trembles as you apologize for the interruption, and you suddenly realize that you have just demonstrated a vulnerable moment in front of your superior. Your cheeks burn with shame as you pick up your pet rabbit, realizing that you are being watched. Levi's presence fills you with a sense of dread, and you find yourself wishing that he would leave the room or look away. The situation is unbearable, and you try your best to remain calm and maintain a professional demeanor, even as your heart pounds in your chest.
Levi's stern look and sharp tone take you off guard, and you find yourself struggling to maintain your composure. "Can we get back to business, please?" As you nod in agreement, you look down at the ground with guilt written on your face, feeling the full weight of the situation. Levi clears his throat and begins to speak again, his voice sounding serious and resolute. "As I was saying, there have been rumors going around that you are a titan shifter, like Eren," he says, his voice low and deliberate. "I need to know if these rumors are true." His eyes bore into yours, demanding an answer.
As Levi's line of questioning and the realization of the severity of the situation fully set in, you feel a sense of fear and panic take hold. Your body begins to shake, and you quickly defend yourself by denying the accusation. The sound of your voice is shaky, almost inaudible, as your mind races to find the perfect response to his scrutiny. You don't want to admit the truth, the fear is overwhelming. You try to hold your composure, but the thought of being exposed sends shivers down your spine. "I have no idea w-what you're talking about."
"Oh, really?" Levi laughs. "If that was true, you wouldn't be shaking like you were about to be eaten by a titan." Levi's tone is confident and condescending, and you can feel a sense of uneasiness in his words. He grins at you, and you wonder if he has already made up his mind about the situation. His smirk makes you feel as though he has seen right through your lie, and the fear in your eyes is obvious. You feel helpless and small, and you wish you had never been summoned to his office in the first place. As you look at him, you can't help but feel as though you are being judged and found lacking. The silence between you both is deafening, and you can almost feel the tension in the room. You try to clear your throat and steady your voice, but your fear is palpable.
A sudden change in Levi's demeanor takes you by surprise, and you find yourself frozen in fear as he stands up abruptly and sends his papers flying off the desk. His eyes burn with anger and suspicion, and before you know it, he is rushing toward you and grabbing your neck. You drop your pet bunny to the floor as it scurries away. Powerless to stop him, he screams in your face, your heartbeat races and your breathing becomes rapid and shallow. "Don't lie to me!" You frantically try to pry his hands off your neck, but it's no use. Your mind is overwhelmed with fear and terror, and you feel helpless as he holds you against the wall, gripping your neck so tightly you can hardly breathe. You choke and cough, fear taking over your heart and mind.
As your life flashes before your eyes, you gather the courage to tell Levi your true feelings. Though his cold and calculating persona makes you doubt the wisdom of your decision. Yet, the urge to confess your love becomes too overwhelming, and you gather all your courage to speak your feelings. "I-I...l-love... y-you," you choke out, tears welling up in your eyes. Your voice is barely audible, and you know that you'll never be able to take it back. Levi is taken by surprise by your sudden declaration of love, and his face contorts into confusion and shock. "What? What are you talking about?" he demands, his voice rising in anger. You can see the anger in his eyes and hear it in his voice, and for a moment, you wonder if he will kill you. But then, something shifts in his expression, and his surprise turns to pity.
Your eyes begin to close and you start to lose consciousness, but you can sense a change in Levi's demeanor. Gone is the anger and menace, replaced by a mix of shock and concern. Despite the circumstances, he cannot help but feel a sense of tenderness for you. "It's okay," he says softly, his voice laced with worry. "I understand why you didn't tell me about being a titan shifter." He looks down at you for a moment longer, holding you in his arms.
You feel an overwhelming sense of peace and acceptance. You have said your piece, and even if Levi doesn't reciprocate your feelings, you know that you have been true to yourself. The fact that you could express your love in your final moments fills you with a sense of accomplishment and fulfillment.
As you slip into the stillness of death, a sense of happiness and contentment washes over you. You have faced your fears and expressed your emotions, and that is all that matters in the end.
"[Y/N]...?" Levi whispers, but you have no breath to give back. He drops you abruptly and steps back, his eyes filled with confusion and surprise. In his moment of shock, Levi fails to grasp the gravity of the situation, and before he knows it, it's too late. You no longer respond, and he realizes with dread that he has failed to save you. He looks down at your limp body in disbelief, unable to process what just transpired. The sense of guilt and remorse weighs heavily on his heart, and he finds himself wishing that he could go back in time and change what happened.
