Hey people that are actively following this story! Sorry it's been so long since I've updated! I've been dealing with life and trying to be an adult and watching way too many horror films for my own sanity, but it's my day off and I have oh-so-much to write about with this story and it'll be nice to get my head away from all the noises I think I'm hearing in my apartment… Without further ado here's the next update!
"Sora! Hey I've been trying to get ahold of you all day," Riku said as he tried to put his arms around Sora. Sora put his hand out to stop Riku from getting any closer and pegged him with a glare.
"And I've been trying to ignore those calls and texts all day. Listen you made yourself pretty clear that you want nothing to do with me so why are you trying to talk to me now?" Sora replied bitterly.
"Just listen okay? Today at the park was a huge misunderstanding," Riku attempted to explain.
"A misunderstanding? I'm sorry how the hell did I misunderstand you telling me 'why would I ever like you' and to 'get over myself'?!" Sora shouted at the silver hair boy. A few eyes looked over at the two talking when Sora raised his voice over the music to yell at Riku.
"We are not talking about this here. Come with me," Riku said in a hushed tone and tried to grab Sora's hand and lead him outside.
"Fuck you, no! I'm staying right here. Just leave me alone and go back to whoever the hell you were talking to over there," Sora replied turning himself away from Riku. Riku put his hand on Sora's shoulder and turned the boy to face him. Riku looked at Sora in the eyes with a look that almost seemed genuine. What is he doing? Is he actually feeling regret for what he said today? Sora sighed and put his hand on top of Riku's which was still resting on his shoulder.
"Sora?" Riku said confused.
"You have 10 minutes. Let's go," Sora responded. I should at least give him a chance to explain. He really does seem like he regrets going what he did. I should hear him out. Riku and Sora walked out the backdoor which was in the kitchen. They ended up on the porch outside and there were some people around, but they all seemed to be passed out drunk or making out with some random stranger. There was a swing bench on the porch that they both sat on to talk.
"Sora, I'm really sorry for today. I didn't want to make you upset, but I had no idea you were going to be there today until your car pulled up." Riku began
"What does that matter?" Sora asked.
"Because I was with a group of friends that wouldn't understand me feeling how I do about you," Riku answered.
"What do you mean?" Sora questioned further.
"Like… your friends are super cool with whoever you are with and fully support you for that. Some of my friends are just like that, but others are like the guys I was hanging out with earlier today. They wouldn't exactly be okay with me dating a guy. They're okay with the idea of me just having sex with guys, but not dating them. It's weird and I really don't understand it," Riku explained.
"Sounds like pretty shitty friends to me. Why are you keeping them around then?" Sora replied.
"I guess because they've been my friends for a while now. I just want to keep them around," Riku answered.
"But if they aren't okay with the idea of you dating me then isn't that reason enough to drop them?" Sora asked.
"It's too soon to say," Riku replied.
"What?" Sora questioned, "What does that mean?"
"It means that we just started talking and it would be hard to say how things will go in the long run. I do like you Sora, but I can't just kick my friends to the curb because of the prospect of dating a guy when it could end up not working out," Rikue explained.
"So where does that leave me?" Sora asked. Riku sighed and considered his answer carefully.
"We can still hang out and try to see if this will work, but you can't be public about it. You can tell your friends and all, but don't let the whole world know about us. If things go well and we end up working out then we can be more public about it and I'll drop my friends who don't agree with it. Alright?" Riku explained.
What Riku was suggesting wasn't an awful thing, but it wasn't the most ideal either. Sora liked the idea of being with Riku. He liked the idea of being able to kiss him, hug him, flirt with him, and call Riku his. What he didn't like was that he could do any of those things when Riku was with people who might disagree with those actions. Sora sighed with anguish. I'd be having him when other people weren't around, but I'd still have him. As long as he doesn't do what he did today again…
"I'll give it a chance. But if you pull what you did today then you won't have to worry about kicking your friends to the curb. I'll be kicking you there instead," Sora said as a small threat to show he was serious.
"Deal," Riku replied. Riku stood up from the swing, and took Sora's hand to pull him up. "So let's get back to the party!"
The two walked back into the house and grabbed another drink on their way through the kitchen. While the situation might not be ideal, Sora could live with it. He could only wait for the moment he could call Riku his to everyone, but that would probably be sometime before then. As for right now they would piss the night away with their friends like they had no care in the world.
That's it for this update! Sorry my chapters aren't very long… It probably gets really annoying to have sparse updates with such little reading. But I'll try to update on my days off! So until the next day off! Byeee!
