A/N: Hey guys! Sorry, I haven't updated in a while, had a bit of writer's block as well as other things. This is a really short chapter that I wanted to post before Christmas, hope you all enjoy it and please review! Merry Christmas!

JJ hesitated slightly before turning back around to Garcia and replying. "I scraped it when I fell, no big deal." JJ said before turning around again.

Garcia sensed JJ's hesitation though and knew she wasn't telling the truth. "Oh, cut the crap JJ, why won't you just tell me what actually happened?" Garcia said angrily but JJ could still hear the worry in her voice.

"Why won't you just mind your own business?" JJ snapped looking at Garcia before her eyes widened at what she had said to her friend. She looked into Garcia's tear filled eyes. "Pen, I'm so so-" JJ began but Garcia cut her off even angrier and more hurt than before.

"Save it JJ. Just tell me what the hell happened or I'm going to Hotch." Garcia said to which JJ gulped.

"Ok, I need sit down though." JJ said as her vision became blurry and Garcia quickly helped her into a nearby chair. Even thought she was mad at JJ didn't mean she wouldn't help her.

"I ran into some trouble last night." JJ said as her vision became clearer and her head less dizzy. Garcia scowled at the vague explanation. "I had something I had to take care of, an order, I followed it and got hurt in the process."

Garcia frowned more concerned than angry now. "And by hurt you mean?" Garcia asked as she gestured to JJ's arm.

"Um, don't freak out." JJ said hesitantly. "I was shot." JJ finished warily.

"Oh my god!" Garcia gasped putting a hand over her mouth. "Are you ok?" she demanded.

"I'm fine, honestly, it was just a through and through in my shoulder." JJ said trying to calm her friend but Garcia continued to look at JJ with worry and panic.

"Pen, I swear I'm fine. Compared to my other bullet wounds this one was pretty minor." JJ laughed trying to ease the tension but cringed when she realised she just made things worse when she heard Garcia's gasp.

"Ok, I shouldn't have said that." JJ said placing a hand over Garcia's. JJ hesitated slightly. "You can't tell the team Pen."

"What!" Garcia exclaimed. "You can't expect me to keep this to myself JJ." Garcia said shocked at JJ for asking her to do that.

"I know, I don't want to have to ask you do this Garcia but I have to protect you all. Please." JJ pleaded feeling horrible but knowing in the long run it was the best thing to do.

Garcia opened and closed her mouth a few times. She could she the desperation in her friends eyes and how much she wanted to protect them.

"Please Pen?" JJ said panicking slightly.

"Ok, ok. I'll try but you know I'm no good with keeping secrets." Garcia said softly trying to calm JJ's anxiety.

JJ laughed and rolled her eyes. "Oh I know, but just try that's all I ask. Thank you." JJ smiled slightly grateful for the support from her best friend.

"I'm here for you JJ, we all are, you don't need to do this alone." Garcia said bending down and placing a comforting hand on JJ's shoulder.

JJ's heart swelled with the care radiating from Garcia and she quickly swallowed down all the emotion that was threatening to burst out of her. She couldn't break down now. She just gave her friend a tight hug to show her appreciation.

Garcia managed to help JJ get dressed and they were on their way down to the lobby when Garcia pulled her back.

"We'll say that I came to the hospital with you last night, that'll make it more believable." Garcia said to JJ, even though she didn't want to the lie to the team, she trusted JJ to know it was for the best.

"Are you sure?" JJ frowned, she didn't want Garica to have to lie more than she had to.

Garica just nodded. "Ok then. I love you Pen and thank you." JJ said placing a kiss to Garcia's cheek.

"Ohh aren't you the charmer." Garcia giggled and JJ just rolled her eyes as they made their way downstairs.
