Understand This

At the end of the day I was waiting for Isaac outside of the school on my Ducati. I watched him as he headed out of the school. He hesitated at first and then came over to me. I didn't say anything to him just handed him a helmet.

Heat rushed through me, starting at where he placed his hands on my waist, until it covered my whole body. I took a deep breath that made me slightly dizzy for a moment. I started my bike anyway. Taking another deep breath my head began to spin more and I could hear my own heart pounding in my chest. My mind was too much of a blur to know how Isaac's body was reacting.

I drove us out of town down a small road through the woods. I know the woods aren't the safest place lately but I don't want anyone to over hear us, besides Brady is out here with us watching over me. I stopped when I thought we were far enough off the main road. Getting off the bike I pulled Isaac into the woods with me.

"I know you don't want to hear this, but please let me explain."

"Go head, I'm listening."

"I didn't want you to find out about me being a wolf the way you did. I wanted to tell you when it was just the two of us like we are now. I have a feeling it's not the fact that I am a wolf that is bothering you. It's the vampire part. You should know that my family doesn't harm humans. They hunt animals like deer and bears."

"You think that fixes things."

"I know that it doesn't fix anything. I just want you to understand and I know you might not be able to. We live in a world where supernatural beings exist, yet the two of us live in completely different worlds. Yes I am half vampire and half shape shifter. That doesn't mean I'm not human though."

"What I don't understand is imprinting or whatever it was that you called it."

"Imprinting is the right word. It was once thought to be an old wise tale just like the tribal stories about the shifters. As it turns out just like the myths about the wolves the myths about the imprinting are real. It is said that imprinting is how shape shifters find their perfect mates."

"So there is no escaping?"

"Well, no. the wolf doesn't really have a choice but the imprint does. The imprint has the choice of just friends or more. The wolf will be whatever it is that the imprint needs. My mom was only a few minutes old when my dad imprinted on her. Granted she is half vampire so she grew fast but still. My dad's cousin Quil imprinted his imprint was only two years old. When something like that happens then the wolf becomes like a best friend or older brother."

"So, I have a choice."

"Yes, if you really want then your choice can be for me to go away."

"Can you really do that if that is what I want?"

My heart sunk at the thought of him telling me to go away. Him telling me that he doesn't want me in his life.

"I'm not saying that it will be easy for either of us if you chose that. However if me leaving you alone and staying out of your life will make you happy, then that is what I will do."

Everything in me told me to run and not wait around to hear what his opinion is. I held my ground though.

"Do I have to decide at this time?"

"No, you don't have to now."

I sat down on a tree that looks as though it has been recently uprooted. It was part of what kept me from running.

"Are you going to be coming back to school?"

"No, it's too complicated. I'm going to continue my home schooling at I was doing before. Besides I have forever to attend school."

"How do you have forever?"

"I done aging, well at least everyone thinks I am. My mom aged until she was physically about age seventeen or eighteen where she became frozen in time like a vampire. My dad stopped aging when he phased and will stay this age until he stops phasing. He won't though because if he did my mom would lose him and he can't let her go through the pain."

"Doesn't that mean that you will only live as long as you continue to phase?"

"They think my vampire genes would probably let me live longer like my mom. We don't know for sure, no one wants to test that theory. Our most absolute pack law is that no imprint is ever to be harmed. It's said that if the imprint is killed than it would kill the wolf, which is why most of the older pack will stop phasing soon to grow with their imprints."

"Can you die though if something happens to me since you're you know?"

"I don't know if I would or not. But there are things that can kill me or people that would be more than willing to do it."

"Wow, I thought I had a complicated life."

"What makes your life to complicated? You kind of know Bryanne Black so tell me about Isaac Lahey."

"Unlike you I wasn't born a wolf. I have only been one for like a year. I was changed when Derek Hale bit me, I'm not sure he is someone you want to meet. Before I was changed it was just me and my dad. I didn't have the best life with my dad so be changed was kind of a good thing for me."

"Why was it a good thing?"

"My dad had some issues and used to lock me up in a freezer."

He wouldn't look at me the whole time he talked about himself. I let out a slight growl when he talked about his dad. It made me want to protect him.

"My dad isn't around now though, this thing called a Kanima killed him. I live with Scott now because of it. I had lived with Derek but he kicked me out because of all of the strange things going on around here."

"I have a feeling Derek and I wouldn't get along very well. By the way what is a Kanina?"

"Don't take it personally Derek doesn't get along with anyone and that is a story for a different day."

"What is going on around here then, it sounds to me like a bunch of deaths?"

"There are, we think it is the pack of alpha wolves doing it."

"A whole pack of alphas, how does that work?"

"I don't really understand it myself."

"Bryanne"

"What Brady?"

"Jake wants you home now and he said that's an order."

"Tell him I'm on my way I have to take Isaac home."

Sorry it took so long and is kind of short. The more reviews I get the more often I will try to update. This chapter gives more hints as to where the story falls into the timeline. Oh, and happy Teen wolf Monday!
