A girl slowly comes to consciousness. She looked around and it was dark with a small amount of light coming through the cracks of the wooden wall. "Where am I?" She said feeling a bit sore.
"In a shed," a raspy voice of a man answers. Startled, the girl sits up and bumps her head on a wooden shelf causing some boxes to fall. "Hey stop moving so much or we're going to be found out. Do you want to die or something?"
Rubbing her head and a bit confused she asks, "Die? What are you talking about?"
"Huh?! Are you stupid? It's daytime."
"Yeah, I can see that."
"Ah, you must've just gained sentience. A little advice from one demon to another. You will die if sunlight hits you."
"I'm a demon!?" Surprised, she bumps her head again on the same shelf.
"What did I just say!"
"Hey. Do you hear something coming from the shed?" A voice came from the outside.
"No, I don't. Why?"
"Hmmm… I'm gonna go check." Footsteps inch closer to the door. The girl's heart was beating faster with every second that went by. She looked around for anywhere to hide and luckily there was a large cloth that had been covering wood and so she hid underneath it. A lock gets rattled then the door opens.
"Would you look at that? Nothing but wood and tools. Honestly, you worry too much."
The man sighs, "Ok. I've just been a bit paranoid. Rumor has it demons have been around these parts."
"Demons!" The other man laughed. "It's broad daylight. No way a demon would come out in broad daylight. Besides, demons don't even exist. Now, let's get out of here." The door closes and the lock goes back on. The two voices then went away.
The girl stayed under the blanket silently for a while before coming out. "You almost got us caught," the raspy voice said.
"Sorry… But where are you anyway?" The girl got out of the shelf she was under. Getting a better look around, there was as much space as a small bedroom. Most of the space is taken by wooden shelves full of tools.
"Above you," the voice said.
The girl looks up and sees a pale reptilian-like-skin man, with blood stains on his shirt, and what alarmed her the most was how he was hanging from the ceiling staring down with a reptile's eyes unblinking. Taken aback she trips over one of the fallen boxes and falls to the ground.
"Now that I take a closer look at you. You don't look half bad yourself. Want to team up and hunt some humans together?"
Fearful of the demon she managed the courage to speak again, "H-hunt humans? You don't mean k-kill, d-do you?"
"Of course, I mean kill. How else are we going to eat and gain more power? I'm sure you've already killed dozens of humans before you gain consciousness so don't go growing a new conscious now."
"I've never killed anyone." The girl grabs her head and tears in her eyes looking down at the ground. "That can't be."
"Come now. Once night falls I'll show you just how delicious humans are, especially humans with marechi. Oh, they are a delicacy." The demon licks his lips with his snake-like tongue.
"I'm human. There's no way I could be a demon. This must be a dream. I would just wake up and… And…"
The demon laughs, "Hard time remembering your past. A perk of being a demon. No baggage to hold you back from fully indulging in human meat."
"No!"
The reptile-like demon's face fell right in front of the girl's view and said, "Hey now if you're going to make so much noise…" Blood veins from the demon's face bulge and pulsate and his eyes do the same, becoming bloodshot, "I might have to kill you first."
The girl gulps, "Ok." The demon slinks back up to the ceiling. The girl began thinking to herself about just how she ended up in this situation. The last thing she remembered was seeing her brother, her best friend, and her teacher. "Did I… No, impossible. But if I really am a demon," she thought to herself.
She sat still on the ground contemplating her life up until now not that she could remember anything. Something was telling her this wasn't the first time this had happened to her. She was too fearful of the demon above her that she dared not to move apart from the occasional adjustment to get as comfortable as she can get until night falls. For what felt like an eternity the sun eventually began to set.
"Yes it's almost time," the demon said joyfully. His skin is just itching to be soaked in the blood of humans.
"I don't…"
"Huh? What was that?"
"I don't want… I don't want to kill anyone," the girl stuttered out, scared at the thought of being complacent to murder.
"It's too late now. You're already a full-fledged demon. Don't you have that urge to kill?" Before the girl could answer the demon interrupts, "Not that I care. Do what you want but get in my way and you die. It's as simple as that." The sun finally goes down and the demon makes its move.
Breaking the door open without any regard for the noise it made. "Hey. Did you hear that?" The man's voice from earlier in the day.
"Yeah, I did. What do you think it could be?"
The girl made her way out quietly along with the demon. Hiding by some nearby trees and bushes a small house could be seen with light coming from it. A moment later even though she could see perfectly at night the demon vanished from her sight.
"I'm gonna go check it out." A shadow of a man could be made out from the translucent white paper wall of the house.
"Are you an idiot? Only fools check stuff like this during the night." The other man said, stopping the first.
"Didn't you say demons didn't exist?"
"Who said anything about demons?"
The door opened and two men walked out, the one in front holding a lamp and the man at the back holding a long stick. "Hey. Why is the shed open?"
The two men approached the shed and the one with the lamp knelt inspecting the broken door. "Who would break in here?" No response from the other man. "Hey. What's wrong?" That was when the girl and the man noticed the man holding the long stick was now missing a head as it slumped over dead, spilling its blood.
The scent of blood triggered the girl's mouth to start salivating, a primal urge to feast as she stepped out into the open without thinking. Her green cat-like eyes glistened at the light of the moon. Her black hair is as dark as the night, skin is as pale as snow. Sharp fangs formed in her mouth as her blood veins pulsated with every step she took.
The man trembles, pushing the headless man aside and picking up the stick he shouts, "Stay Back!" The girl snarls and growls then lunges at the man. The man slams the stick into the girl, shattering the stick in the process. Stunned for a moment, taking offense that her food dared to attack her, she rips the arm that was holding what's left of the stick off the man. The man screamed clutching his wound, fear in his eyes he pleaded for his life, "Please No! Don't Kill Me! I'll do anything! I don't want to die!"
The girl held the man's disassembled arm. The blood that had splashed on her face during the dismemberment dripped down her face onto her lips. Licking the blood it tasted not like what she expected. It was sweet as candy but a bit on the bitter side. Nonetheless, she wanted more. This also has the adverse effect of knocking her sense back into her as she looked down in horror at what she had done. She dropped to the ground screaming and throwing away the severed arm, "No No No No No!" She barfs up whatever content was in her stomach the best she can before looking at the man and reaching out a hand with tears falling from her eyes, "I'm sorry. I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to. I couldn't control myself."
The girl's gestures only made the fear in the man worse as he slowly backed away shouting, "Stay Away From Me You Monster!"
"I didn't want to, I didn't," the girl cried, holding her urges back.
"Ahh, such a shame. You were almost there. Well, I guess I'll finish what I started," the reptile demon said as he quickly approached from the shadows to bite off the man's head. The girl noticing this pushes the man away just before the demon could bite down. The demon stares daggers into the girl, "I'll let you get away with this just once. Pray that it won't happen again."
The man got up and started running and screaming for help. The demon chased and was about to again bite off the head of the man. The girl moved even faster than the demon knocking the demon into a nearby tree. A brief pause for breath for the man as he clutches his missing arm. "Run! Get Out Of Here," the girl shouts. Taking this to heart the man ran as fast as he could and soon disappeared, but his smell was still lingering in the air.
"You know… I really liked you… The way you look, the way you smell, and the perfect innocent girl I wanted to see be corrupted. But now you've pissed me off!" The demon leaps and bites off the girl's head before she could see it coming. The girl's body falls to the ground almost lifeless as her head starts to regenerate. "Pretty slow to regenerate. Let's see what else I can… Huh," the demon's head came off. "How? When did it happen?" The demon then began to dissolve into ashes. As she lays unmoving on the ground she can feel someone gently picking her up and then placing her down.
The girl's head fully regenerated, then sitting herself up, noticeably panicked, she looked around noticing the back of a boy praying for the dead headless man's body, in a green and black haori, with a black katana, carrying a wooden box strapped to his back. The boy, just now hearing the girl getting up, jumped back and turned around with the sword ready in hand. The girl immediately recognized this person as Tanjiro Kamado. Unmistakable with the iconic scar on his forehead, his gentle eyes even when faced with demons, and the demon sister he carries around inside the wooden box on his back.
"So you've been turned into a demon. I'm sorry, but I have to end your life," Tanjiro says.
"I don't want to die," covering her neck with the palms of her hands.
"I still have to do what is needed to do, and I can never apologize enough. So if you want this to be painless." Tanjiro takes a breath, "Fifth Form: Blessed Rain After the Drought." He changes his grip on his sword and goes to decapitate the girl's head. Hearing this as an act of mercy the girl thought about letting it happen and that maybe death was the best option, but her left arm decided to move for her on its own. Pulling the girl to the side avoiding the slash to the neck. Tanjiro had only made a shallow cut to the side of the girl's right arm.
Looking at her left arm the girl was confused as to why it had moved on its own. Then she took this as a sign, she wipes her tears and repeats herself this time with more conviction, "I don't want to die."
"Water Breathing First Form: Water Surface Slash." Tanjiro swings first with one strong slash. Though his movement was much faster and more precise than the demon, the girl was able to dodge most of his slashes without too much difficulty. "Water Breathing Third Form: Flowing Dance." Tanjiro swings and bends his blade in a winding motion along with his body, but again the girl dodges. Tanjiro jumps back and asks a question, "Why aren't you fighting back?"
"It's because I don't want to hurt you, Tanjiro," the girl answers immediately.
"How do you know my name?" Pain signals suddenly spike in the girl as she clutches her head and screams in pain. Tanjiro was hesitant not knowing whether or not to attack. Could this be like the time when a demon spoke Muzan's name? Nezuko then opens the box that she was in and climbs out of it, "Nezuko? What are you doing?"
"Hrmp hemp," Nezuko mumbled out rushing over and using her blood demon art on the girl writhing in pain on the ground. Normally Nezuko's blood demon art would harm demons but right now her blood demon art seemingly has no negative effects on the girl.
"Wait, is she not a demon?" Tanjiro panics thinking that he had attacked an innocent civilian. But as he sniffed the air there was no mistaking the smell of a demon coming from the girl yet also two other smells, one that a normal human would emit and another he just didn't know how to place. The heat that she was emitting was not normal either.
"Hrmp hrmp," Nezuko motioned to Tanjiro as the girl was unconscious, sleeping peacefully on her lap. Her size has shrunk down to that of a toddler.
"What are we going to do with her? Well, if she's a demon then we have to kill her. But if she's not then… Just what is she?"
"Hrmp hrmp," Nezuko pointed to the girl and shook her head.
"So she's not a demon. Well, at least that answers that." Tanjiro breathes a sigh of relief as Nezuko nods her head. "Wait, that means I just attacked a normal girl! I have to apologize!" Nezuko points to the girl's head. "Oh right. She's not a normal human." Nezuko gestures for Tanjiro to carry her. "Right, we should let Tamayo know about this situation. Maybe she'll know what to do with her. But for now, let's get to a safer place."
Seeing no sign of the girl waking up anytime soon he relayed his situation to the Demon Slaying Corp through the Kasugai Crow. He had also written a note giving it to Chachamaru along with some of the girl's blood in hopes Tamayo might know if the girl is truly a demon.
He couldn't allow himself to bring her back to the Butterfly Mansion or anywhere populated with the possibility of her being a demon. And with that possibility, he at the least, found a small abandoned shed away from the smell of blood before sunrise. Nezuko seems to be okay with this girl like Tamayo and Yushiro. This girl might be the same as them.
Standing guard outside while he waits for sunrise to confirm if she was a demon taking small naps every so often. Nezuko is sleeping next to the girl who had now gone back to her size before. For a size comparison, she is about the same height as Tanjiro. The night continues with no further disturbance.
As the sun rose Tanjiro, the first to awake felt the morning sun on his face. The scent of the demon girl was in the air. He pats himself fully awake then slowly opens the door to the shed, careful not to let too much light get in, and can see that both girls are still sleeping. A sigh of relief to see that nothing had happened he closed the door and decided to wait a moment longer before he would try anything else.
He didn't need to wait long, for the girl had awoken moments after he closed the door. She had only opted to pretend to sleep out of fear of the sun. Though when the door had closed she sat up making sure to avoid waking up Nezuko. Then the girl slowly remembered what she had done during the night and started to snivel.
Nezuko without warning pats the girl on the head without her noticing. This struck a chord in the girl as she fixated on Nezuko's cheery face. "Why do I know who you are?"
Nezuko gave a confused look before Tanjiro answered from outside, "We don't know that either."
Backing away from the door and Nezuko, the girl stands up asking, "Are you still going to kill me?"
"I wouldn't have any reason to if you're a demon like Miss Tamayo or if you're not a demon at all. So I was hoping you can share with us who you are."
"Who am I?" She sat back down, knees curled, arms wrapped around herself with her head down, "A story comes to mind."
In a small village, there were two girls. One is born with the gift of seeing the world differently than others. The other with nothing. The gifted girl held much responsibility that weighed her down. She could do almost anything after seeing it done just once. She could soothe any pain with the medicine that she had created. Her beauty is on par with even the most beautiful flower.
The girl who had nothing wished to have it all. Born an orphan in this small village she quickly learned how to survive on her own. Whether that be through building her own merit or by taking advantage of others. But most importantly she wanted to have a place to call home.
One fateful encounter had these two girls meet. At first, the girl who had nothing wanted to gain favor from the gifted girl but before long she shifted her attention to how much trouble it is to just even be around her.
The gifted girl only wanted a true friend. Knowing well in full that the girl with nothing wanted to gain from her just like the others, for some reason she felt that it was different this time. As time passed they eventually grew closer together. Everything was perfect until one man entered the scene.
A young wealthy man hearing rumors of the gifted girl made his way to this small village to make her his wife. This did not sit well with the girl who now had a true friend. Only when the gifted girl convinced her friend to give the man a chance did the friend's fury calm. When they first met the wealthy man, there was high tension.
Knowing that it would not be easy to win over the love of the gifted girl and acceptance by the village with just wealth alone, he decided to live in the village to show he was not a man who would take a woman by force. Giving himself seven days to win over the gifted girl.
And so on the following days, the man worked in the same fields, ate the food, slept on the same beds, and lived the same lives. By the third day, most of the village had accepted the man. On the sixth, all but two people had accepted the man. They are of course the bride herself and the girl who has found a home in the village through the gifted girl.
But disaster struck on the seventh night. The last night before the man would leave. The girl who had nothing was the only one awake to notice the demon. The girl watched as the wealthy man was killed and eaten by the demon along with everyone else in the village. Leaving only the two girls alive for the time being.
Because to her horror, the demon had known all along that she was watching. It taunted the girl saying, "You who have watched me kill everyone. Why do you not run? Why do you not scream or try and stop me?"
The girl had no answer. The one to respond was the gifted girl who shouted, "Run! Get out of here!" And only then did the girl who had nothing run. She ran away as fast as she could, never glancing back. Knowing that the only place she called home was now gone.
"The story ends there. Not knowing if the gifted girl survived or not. Or even if the demon let the girl escape." The girl said as Nezuko comforted her.
"Is one of the girls in the story you," Tanjiro asked.
"I don't know. The demon you killed said that demons lose their human memories. So even if I was one of them I wouldn't remember."
"I see… I apologize for trying to kill you. And I'm sorry if this question hurts you again but, if you don't mind, how do you know my name?
"Your name… It's like something deep down is telling me to remember but I can't. I don't know why I know who you two are. Tanjiro, Nezuko. I don't even know who I am. Just a story and a sense that it's missing something."
Tanjiro opens the door with a note in his hand, also making sure sunlight does not reach Nezuko or the girl. Then in a dogeza he apologizes, "I Tanjiro Kamado. Ask for forgiveness for trying to end your life. I wouldn't have attacked you if I knew that you weren't a demon beforehand. I thank you for preventing me from killing you who is not a demon. I know this may not be enough to repay what you've done to me, but this is the best I can offer now."
The girl was stunned. Not only was Tanjiro thankful for something she didn't do, but he also said she wasn't a demon. "What do you mean? I am a demon. Did you not see I lost my head and then regenerated it."
"You may not be a demon but you're also not a normal human either. The note I got from Miss Tamayo says as much. They're currently looking into it as we speak."
"Then why does blood taste sweet, why does the sunlight hurt, why don't I remember my human self?"
Tanjiro lifts his head as a Kasugai Crow flies above, "Message! Message from headquarters! Tanjiro must take the girl into custody and she is to be brought back to Headquarters."
"Taken to headquarters?" Tanjiro looks in earnest at the girl, "I hate to ask this of you but would you please come with me back to the Demon Slayer Headquarters?"
"Are you taking me to be executed?"
"You have my word. They will not execute you. They probably just want to test if you are really not a demon. Like with Nezuko, if you can prove yourself then other demon slayers won't attack you either."
"Ok. I trust you. But how am I supposed to make it over to headquarters when there is still daylight? Or are we going to wait until night?"
"Well… I usually carry Nezuko in this box." Tanjiro places a hand on the wooden box inside the small shed, "If you can shrink down like you did last night, it might be a bit cramped in there but, you both should be able to fit."
"Shrink, how am I supposed to do that?"
A moment of silence goes by with Tanjiro staring blankly as he says, "I don't know."
"Huh?"
"Well, I mean Nezuko kind of just does it. I thought you might be able to do it too." Tanjiro was a bit embarrassed. "Nezuko, show her what I mean." Nezuko begins to shrink and enters the box.
"I can't do that." Nezuko comes back out and grabs a hold of the girl's arm and she suddenly begins to shrink to the same size. "How did…" Her voice sounded much younger than what she was used to confusing her even more as she was pulled along into the now suddenly big box.
After settling inside the box she can feel Tanjiro pick up the box and place it on his back, "I don't know how that happens either but better leave now while you're still small. Please bear with this until we reach headquarters."
"You know for some reason it's pretty comfortable. I can't see a thing though." The girl responded with Nezuko giving a cheerful hum.
"Oh right, excuse my rudeness but may I ask your name," Tanjiro said while walking.
"My name… My name is Akumi."
"It's nice to meet you Akumi. You already know our names but I'm Tanjiro and the girl with you is Nezuko." Nezuko then gives a humph to notify that she heard Tanjiro.
Tanjiro follows a kasugai crow for a direct path to the Demon Slayer Headquarters walking at a brisk pace. It takes well into the day before arriving at HQ but when they do arrive Tanjiro notices that all eight Hashiras are there waiting.
"Look who took their time to get here! And again bringing along another demon!" Sanemi shouts angrily.
"Two demons now. It makes me wonder if he'll find a third one. Now that would be truly flashy!" Tengen says.
"It hasn't been that long since we've all gathered but it's still strange without Rengoku here. Even so, the boy did bring back another non-hostile demon." Mitsuri thought to herself.
"Finding these demons who did not want to harm humans. It makes me wonder how many are truly out there." Gyoumei said.
"This happened before? And now there are two demons here?" Muichirou thought to himself.
"Oyakata-sama has arrived." The two white hair girls said as Kagaya Ubuyashiki enters the scene.
"Good afternoon everyone. It's good to see everyone in great health." Ubuyashiki said as everyone got down on one knee and bowed their heads. Ubuyashiki sits down and goes straight to the point, "I know we've only recently made an exception to Tanjiro and Nezuko. But I've recently made contact with a branch family member whom we had lost contact with for many years who arrived here safely."
A woman with long dark blue hair and bright blue eyes walks into the scene. She wears a red haori over her black kimono. "I'm sorry for intruding. But if I may I'd like to ask for the Demon Slayer Corp to not slay that demon."
Her words left many of the Hashira confused. Who was she to ask for something like sparing a demon? Just because she is a branch member of their master does not give her the same authority as Kagaya Ubuyashiki himself. But no one dared to speak out without having a solid argument, nobody except Sanemi.
"Forgive me if I speak out of term, but though you may have a relationship with Oyakata-sama, do you know what it means to spare a demon?"
"Yes. It would mean breaking many of the Demon Slayer Corp rules. With the punishment being to take one's own life." The woman places a hand on her chest for a moment. "I seem to have forgotten my manners. Let me introduce myself. My name is Akari Ubuyashiki." The woman then got into a dogeza and pleaded, "I beg of you Hashiras to let just one more demon live."
"You've heard her plea. Now please give her your answer." Ubuyashiki asked the Hashiras. "I will agree with whatever outcome you've chosen. I'm afraid I will have to leave this decision entirely up to everyone here. Unlike Nezuko who had the former Water Hashira vouch for her and even our current Water Hashira also supporting the decision to keep Nezuko alive. We now have someone who you know nothing of pleading for you to allow this new demon to live."
"Oyakata-sama, is this some sort of a test?" Asked Gyoumei.
"No this is not a test."
"Then I would like to speak my mind." Ubuyashiki gives a nod to show that he allows it. "I suggest that if this demon can pass the same test as Nezuko I believe that there is a chance that I can allow another demon to live. Of course, this is only my opinion."
"If that is what it takes. And only if Sanemi is allowed to use his blood for this test."
"If that is what you ask of me, Oyakata-sama, I will comply," Sanemi replied.
"No. I do not wish for you to harm yourself. If it is marechi blood you need, use mine." The blue-haired woman said, raising her head.
"Tanjiro if you may." Ubuyashiki gestures for Tanjiro to come over to the shade.
Tanjiro gives an audible agreement as he places down the box containing the two girls. Tanjiro opens the box to reveal the two demon girls. Nezuko got out immediately and sat outside the box. Akumi then also sat up taking a look at everyone. Akumi was a bit afraid of what was going to happen next. She was afraid she would fail the test to restrain her urges to eat humans.
"Sanemi, if you may give your sword to Lady Akari," Ubuyashiki said.
"As you command." Sanemi hands over his sword to Akari.
"Thank you," Akari said as she accepted the sword. She stood up and walked over to Akumi and Nezuko who were still by the box. "I'm sorry but please bear with this." Akari takes the katana and cuts off Akumi's left arm to the surprise of everyone. Akumi felt a tremendous amount of pain but fought the urge to retaliate as she clutched her missing limb.
Akari takes the blade and wipes the blood off with her haori. She then pulls up her sleeve and uses the katana to cut her forearm. A stream of blood started to drip out. Nezuko reacted to the blood for a moment before turning her head. Akumi however, her eyes dilated. Every part that was resisting suddenly stopped resisting. The scent was so intoxicating how could anyone resist? This burning wound on her arm doesn't help either, only adding to the urge to eat.
Akumi stood up everyone's eyes on her waiting for her to make her move. Was she going to be like Nezuko and turn away from the blood or would she like any other demon, pounce on Akari? The woman takes a good look at the girl who has now grown to the same height as her and she smiles. Akumi then moves to attack Akari but before she could get a step closer she was pinned down.
Akumi screams and growls on the ground like a feral animal. Everyone was shocked at the speed that Akumi had moved. No one had even noticed that she had tried to attack Akari. As they saw, the one who pinned Akumi is Akumi's left arm that was severed. Every Hashira placed a hand on their weapon except for Giyu who wanted to believe in this demon also and Sanemi whose katana was still being held by Akari.
"Don't make any rash movements. The testing isn't over yet." Ubuyashiki announces.
Akari moves her bleeding arm closer to Akari's mouth which was screaming. For a moment there was silence then Akumi opened her mouth wide open ready to bite Akari's arm but just before she could clench down on the arm a drop of blood fell into her mouth. To Akumi it tasted like nothing from this world. It was indescribable. All she could think of was how delicious it was, and this knocked her back to her senses. Akumi realizes what she was just about to do and moves away from Akari's arm.
"You're still in there, I know it," Akari whispers to Akumi. "You're too stubborn to not be." Akari picks up the left arm and places it back in the arm to which it attaches like it was never cut off.
"The testing seems to be complete. What do you say is the verdict?" Ubuyashiki asked.
"She can not be kept alive! She not only failed the test but it was only after she drank blood did she stop. What's to stop her from doing more than just drinking a small drop next time?" Sanemi replies first.
"We can not just ignore the fact that her severed arm stopped her from attacking Lady Akari. Although it doesn't change the fact that she did try to attack Lady Akari." Gyoumei replied next.
"I for one think that was a horrid display of unflashiness. That first demon Nezuko again showed disgust while this new demon failed the test the moment she took a step closer to Lady Akari." Tengen gave his thoughts.
"I like to give this demon a second chance. At the very least she's able to stop herself from enacting the final blow on her victims. Her fuel source is blood now so it can't be helped if she gets a little crazy from time to time if she runs out of it." Mitsuri said.
"I would like to see more tests with that left arm of hers." Shinobu imputed her thoughts.
"I don't see why there is even a debate. We should just kill the demon." Iguro comments.
"I don't care, just give it the majority vote to make this happen faster," Muichiro said.
"I chose to keep her alive," Giyu said plainly.
"We should just kill her." Sanemi placed his vote.
"I've already stated my position," Iguro said.
"Agreed she's not like the first demon." Said Tengen.
"If we kept Nezuko alive we should also keep this demon alive if even a member of the master's family is pleading with us to do so," Mitsuri says.
"I'm not one to let a demon go easily, but this one, I want to see more of first," Shinobu said.
"She failed the test, it's as clear as day. We should do a merciful act and end her life." Gyoumei said.
"I do wonder. I'll keep her alive then. To see how we break this tie voting now that Rengoku isn't here anymore." Muichiro said.
"You idiot we're just back at square one if you do that!" Sanemi shouts.
"We still have one more vote," Ubuyashiki says. "Tanjiro, what do you believe we should do with this demon?"
Everyone's eyes were now on Tanjiro as the fate of this new demon was now on him. And to no one's surprise, Tanjiro said, "I want to keep her alive."
"And with that, we have our tie-breaker. I hope to see that this decision was made with everyone's input this time." Ubuyashiki said. Sanemi held his tongue.
"I thank you for giving her a chance. If she does harm another human I will take full responsibility." Akari said, bowing her head and handing back Sanemi's katana.
"Although this new demon introduced has shown the willingness to attack and harm another human. Her left arm seems to be different from the rest of her body. It's exactly that difference that we need to investigate further before we can decide to end her life. I have been told she has taken multiple lives before. That is something that can never be forgiven. Finding these types of demons who can stop themselves from harming humans even when they are presented with marechi blood is rarer than finding and killing Kibutsuji Muzan himself. We have not one but two alive demons to prove this. Of course, if they do harm and kill a human from this point on we will have no other choice but to kill them. For now, I will like to excuse these two before we start the pillar meeting."
"Oyakata-sama, you can't be serious. That demon killed humans. Not just that she completely failed the test. She can not be trusted as we do with that other demon." Sanemi argued.
"I understand your concern Sanemi. But I like to remind you Nezuko has never killed any humans nor known the taste of blood. She is likely able to resist marechi blood because of that very fact. Yet this demon can resist even after having ingested marechi blood. For what it is worth I trust her left hand to stop her from killing humans."
Sanemi doesn't want to let another demon live but if this is what Ubuyashiki wants then he will trust in what Ubuyashiki says. "Very well then."
"If you would excuse us." Akari goes to help Akumi who has now shrunk to Nezuko's small size from the ground and was in tears. Nezuko was patting Akumi's head comforting her. Tanjiro was also there comforting Akumi.
"Tanjiro." Ubuyashiki said.
"Y-yes!" Tanjiro said in surprise at hearing his name get called.
"If you and Nezuko would accompany Lady Akari with the new demon."
"Yes. If you would excuse us." Tanjiro said as he also helps Akumi up and they walk further into the mansion.

This is a one-shot/pilot chapter. With my character in the Demon Slayer world. This is a series that I will continue at a later date. I'm reusing the names from my other fan fiction because I have a reason for reusing names. It's going to take a while and I'm not the first person to think of this but hopefully, eventually, I can pull it off. To readers who have only read this story, this probably won't make any sense but to readers who have read my other stories eventually, it'll come together. Whether or not it would be good or bad is still up to your interpretation. I'll still make it so that readers don't need to read my other works to enjoy this story but as of now, it's in the works.
