"Adrien, could bring my stack of books in here? I left them on the kitchen table," Nathalie called. "Coming, Nathalie." Adrien picked up the pile of books and headed slowly into Natahile's room. These books were heavier then expected! "Thanks so much, Adrien. Can you set them down right here?"

Adrien did, but then there was a loud crunch! "Oh, no." Adrien scooted the books over to see a beautiful turquoise necklace smashed into pieces. Tears pricked his eyes. "Nathalie, I'm so sorry. I didn't see it there." Nathalie came over and gave Adrien a hug. "Don't worry, Adrien. Things happen and your mother would have understood." Adrien picked up the necklace. "Mom gave this to you? I have to fix this!"

Now he felt terrible, Nathalie and Emile had always been close, and Nathalie was a mother figure to Adrien, now that Emile was gone. Adrien felt the hot tears slipping down his cheeks and he threw himself down on the bed.

"Adrien, you okay?" Adrien wiped his eyes as he sat up. Plagg was looking at him with a concerned look on his face. "I-I broke a really special necklace, Plagg. And it belonged to Mother. Looks like I don't need superpowers to cause a disaster!" he flopped down back onto his pillow, usually Adrien was able to push down the ache of missing his mother, but today was not that day.

"Adrien, I know someone that can help. And she's one of your very best friends too." "No, Plagg. Ladybug won't be able to fix this. I messed up." "No, Marinette. You've seen how creative and talented she is. Maybe she can work her magic."

Adrien stopped crying. Plagg was right. "Thanks, buddy. Its worth a shot."

"Step into my workshop," Marinette joked as Adrien entered her room. With the rain starting as his driver took him here, it felt cozy all of a sudden. "I didn't mean to break it. It was accident." Adrien pulled out the broken pieces and handed it to Marinette carefully. "I don't think it can be a necklace again. But I could make something else. What is Nathalie favorite animal?" Adrien smiled. "A peacock." "Let me grab some supplies and I'll get to work."

Adrien noticed the pile of magazines sitting on Marinette's desk. They were his father's fashion magazine, Agreste Fashion Monthly. "You must be a big fan of my father." "Yes, but I remember when your mother used to write articles too. There were days I wanted to quit so bad, cause I didn't feel good enough. But Emile told me to just be myself and be uniquely creative. Just because something is damaged or broken, doesn't mean it has no value." "I miss her so much, Marinette. Nathalie told me that Mother gave her this." Marinette turned to Adrien, placing a gentle hand on his knee. "Hey, they still love you, even if you made a mistake. Your a kind and loving son, Adrien, and if your mother was here, I know she's been proud of you. And I'm proud of you too."

Adrien scooter closer, brushing a stray curl behind her ear. "Your very special, Marinette," he whispered, kissing on the cheek.

Plagg was right, Marinette did have magic in her fingers, the magic of creativity. Adrien smiled as he arrived back home, Marinette had turned the broken necklace into a small brooch. Nathalie was in the foyer, waiting. "Nathalie, I made something for you. Or, rather, Marinette helped me." Adrien pulled out the brooch and handed it to her. "Marinette made the necklace into a brooch. I told her you like peacocks and she made this."

"Thank you, Adrien. And thank Marinette for me. But Adrien, even if the necklace couldn't have been fixed, it doesn't mean I don't care about you. I do." Adrien gave her a quick hug. "Now, make sure you wash up for dinner. Your father is working in his office again."

Adrien straightened up and grinned. Things had turned out fine, in fact even better. He was so lucky to have Marinette as a friend, and Nathalie who cared about him, just like his mother.
