Conversations / Princess of the Poor
Myung-soo is used to getting what he wants.
WARNING: the whole thing is in conversation. My sanity may have been failing while writing this one (needed a break from The Crooked Road). This one is Eunsang/Myung-soo, so sorry all you precious CYD/ES lovers ;)
"Morning, Princess!"
"..."
"Good morning, Cha Eunsang! Isn't it a beautiful day?"
"..."
"Cha Eunsang?"
"Hmm?"
"Yah! Cha Eunsang! At least pretend to listen when I'm talking to you!"
"Oh? Myung-soo? Ah, morning. How are you?"
"Good, good. As per usual, I am the life and soul of this never-ending party we call life."
"Sounds, um, eventful?"
"Aish, don't yawn when we're having a nice conversation... It feels like you're just using me for my awesome body and cute face!
"..."
"Wait... So you are using me! Well, I can't say that I'm unhappy with that, after all, who could resist me? I'm Myungsoo the Great!"
"Myung-soo-ah, could you be quiet for just a second? I have a bit of a headache from tending to Honoured Grandmother last night..."
"Again?! Man... Yah! Cha Eunsang! Don't let the old bat order you around! She may be the Queen of Misery, but she ain't got to rule it over you!"
"Hey, you shouldn't talk-"
"Ah, shaddup, you know you agree with me. Your mouth is telling me one story, but your eyes know the truth! Don't deny it, Princess."
"Okay, you're right... she is a bit much sometimes... but where would I be without her? I wouldn't be here with you were it not for her incredible generosity."
"...fair play. But still, you don't know for sure. Maybe we were destined to be with each other! Like Rose and Jack! Minus the dying, of course."
"Of all the movies, why Titanic?"
"T'was the first thing that popped into my amazing brain?"
"I see. Well, moving on... I know that Honoured Grandmother can be a bit much sometimes, but-"
"A bit?!"
"Shush, you. Even though she is a bit much, Honoured Grandmother is always asking about you, and I think it hurts her to know that you don't want her to be a part of your life."
"Only 'cause she chose not to be a part of my life... S'all her fault, you know."
"Be reasonable. It's not normal for people to marry for love in this world. She's a product of her time, you mustn't forget that."
"But Father's lucky to have Mom! And Mom was only the caretaker's daughter... And in any case, she's, like, the perfect wife!"
"Still, you have to accept that most people don't marry for love in this world... It's like the chances of an Heir dating a Welfare... Impossible, improbable, something along those lines."
"I disagree."
"Pardon?"
"Cha Eunsang, look at me. This world isn't as confined as you think it is. We could get married now and no one could stop us. In fact, let's get married!"
"Don't joke about this, Myungsoo, please. You know it can never happen."
"Who says I was joking? I may be a joker but this is one thing I've always been serious about."
"..."
"Look at me, Eunsang. Really look at me. I could look all over the world and never find anyone better for me than you. And you just so happen to fill all of my family's crazy conditions! You know how to run the estate, you can cook, take care of kids, get good grades... Tell me this isn't meant to be."
". . ."
"You can't! Hah! See, I knew it!"
"But we can't! Myungsoo, Honoured Grandmother considers it one of my duties to find you a nice suitable bride!"
"W-well if it's not you then I'm never going to marry!"
"Don't be ridiculous, sooner or later you'll find some girl who will be everything you dream of, and then you'll not even look twice at me."
"Try me. You know how stubborn I can be."
"Fine, then let's make this interesting. If you don't find a woman in the next five years and manage to get Honoured Grandmother's support, I will marry you."
"And if you win?"
"I would like my family to be the next line of official caretakers."
"Seriously? Man, if that's what you want... Deal. Now let's shake hands."
"Hey, don't be smiling too soon, Cha Eunsang. I'll have you know I'm pretty good at winning bets."
"Not this time, Myungsoo!"
"Huh?"
"Well, let's just say I'm guaranteed a win either outcome. You do remember what happened with your mother and father, don't you?"
"Huh? Yah! Cha Eunsang! Explain yourself! Don't go walking away from me... Yah!"
-END-
I suppose it must be disappointing to expect something delicious and then receive a plate full of crack. I apologise. :)
