OMG! Final chapter! I can't believe I made it this far! It's so sad that the ambassadors are officially leaving… OR IS IT? I don't wanna delay you. Let's see the final chapter of The Ambassadors!
Chapter 33: Next time
I entered the house for the final time to see Yuna and Bryan bringing their backpacks to the front door. They were both already dressed in their school uniform. I nearly hit Bryan as I opened the door.
" Oh! Sorry Bryan! I didn't mean to!" I exclaimed as I pulled the door slightly towards myself. Bryan was rubbing his forehead.
" I'm fine. You serious have to be more careful. Just to think you beating me up isn't enough." Bryan said.
" Where have you been Kris?" Yuna asked " We couldn't find you and Italy anywhere. I was starting to assume the elope theory all over again!"
" You still remember that?" I asked as Italy and I entered the house with Italy closing the door behind us. I rolled my eyes and hit my forehead, blushing.
" You better change." Yuna said. I nodded and went into my room to change into my uniform. When I had done so and was about to leave the room, I heard Ruby meow. I stopped in my tracks and looked down at the cat. She didn't move. Then she slowly walked towards my direction and sat down. She's prepared this time. I squatted down an hugged my small white and red pet. I hugged her tight. Ruby, Sandy and Bryan Junior will be sent to Greece's house back again. Malaysia was already taking care of Rani so I didn't want to pressure her too much. I hugged Ruby tighter. At least she can play with Sandy, and Caramel… maybe Junior…
Ruby gave a slight meow before rubbing against me. I am really going to miss this adventurous cat. She's been here with me since I came here. Well half of the time when I first came here. She's been my source of comfort and would always play with me. I wish I could bring her along… but I can't.
" Goodbye Ruby. Be a good cat." I said. I didn't let go of her for awhile, then I set her down and got up. Then I left the room. Ruby didn't follow me.
When I reached the front door, Spain and Romano are there with Yuna, Bryan and Italy. Spain was hugging Yuna and Bryan at the same time while Italy was talking to the three of them. Romano was grumbling at the side as usual.
" Hey Romano! You will miss me right?" Bryan asked.
" Who says I will miss you you bastard!" Romano yelled.
" What? But I'm your ambassador." Bryan said, pouting.
" Of course he won't miss you. How about me." Yuna asked.
" I won't miss any one of you! I'll be glad when you guys are gone!" Romano yelled.
" Don't worry about that guys." I said as I put my arm over his shoulder. " He will miss you, he just doesn't admit it. When I left and then came back, he really did miss me otherwise he wouldn't have hugged me!"
" Get your arm off me!" Romano yelled. I did so and said " Yeah, yeah. I'll miss you too."
" Come on, we've got to get going." Spain said. We went out of the house and got into Spain's car. Like the last time, we drove all the way to the airport to get a jet and then to America's house. This is it, the last time I'll be in Hetalia.
When we reached the house, Spain knocked on the door. America opened the door and then he said " Oh! You're finally here. Took you long enough. Everyone's here already!"
Already? I felt my heart dropped. I was hoping that I could have a little more time. We went into the house and followed America into the dimension machine room. The room was full of people, the ambassadors and their countries. I was surprised to see Austria here. Is he going to say goodbye to Bec? Sometimes I forget Bec is Hungary's ambassador and not Austria's. Vietnam was there too.
" KRISTINA!" I heard Hungary yell. I looked at her and she ran towards me and hugged me tight. I hugged back. " Oh my gosh! You are finally leaving! I am going to miss you so much!"
" Me too!" I said, smiling. It was kind of sad ether way.
" Hey Kris, you think yesterday was the last you saw of me?" Vietnam said as she approached to me and smirked.
" Viet!" I exclaimed as I hugged her.
" Woah! Calm down! You're not leaving just yet." Vietnam said as she hugged me.
" What are you doing here anyway?" I asked as I let go of her. Hungary was talking to Yuna while Bryan was hanging out with Prussia and Amir.
" Waiting for America to finish his stuff." Vietnam said. Then she looked away and said while blushing " We're going out on a date later."
" Aw, that's sweet." I said. Vietnam glared at me and said " Don't you start. Taiwan and Hungary are enough."
" Vietnam! I am going to miss you!" Jao Lan exclaimed as he went to Vietnam and shook her hand. Vietnam looked at Jao Lan weirdly. What the heck? He's acting too dramatic.
" Kris, are you sad we're leaving." Jao Lan moaned. Something's up. Usually when Jao Lan overreacts, he knows something we don't
" Alright dudes and dudettes!" America yelled before I could question Jao Lan. We all turned to his direction. America was behind the control box, clapping his hands together to get this attention " I know that you all are sad and all and this is the last time we'll be seeing the ambassadors. But I have to say one thing."
There was a pause. What is he saying. I could see Jao Lan trying to stop himself from laughing but not from smirking. I also realised that Mike and Estonia aren't really sad. What the heck…
" I TOTALLY GOT YOU! HAHAHAHAHAHA!" America shouted and laughed out loud. Jao lan instantly joined him. What? What the hell is America saying.
" What are you talking about?" Germany demanded.
" Oh my god! I can't believe you guys actually thought we'll never see the ambassadors again!" America said between his laughs.
" What do you mean you bloody wanker?" England said.
" I mean I found a way we can see the ambassadors again of course!" America exclaimed. We were all silent. So silent you can hear a pin drop, literally.
" WHAT!" We all yelled, expect America, Jao Lan, Mike and Estonia.
" You mean we can come back?!" Bryan yelled.
" We can see them again?" France yelled.
" Yup dudes! We totally can!" America announced.
" Let me explain." Estonia said as he pushed up his glasses, trying to look cool. " Before, the dimension machine was only used for one purpose, to send Kristina back home. That means the dimension machine is built for a one way journey. Not to mention is very hard to open the portal. But now, we want to send many people hope and I'm sure we all wish to see each other again. So Mike, Jao Lan, America and I were working on a way so that we can use the portal anytime. I got the idea from my counter part. It wasn't easy trying to find the right combination for this dimension as it had been for your's."
" That's when we created this remote control" Mike said " It a set combination of this dimension. We've been working on this since Kristina came back from the Nyotalia dimension. There are a few buttons but the main one is the small blue button at the centre. When you press it, a portal will appear a metre from where you point your remote. The timer setting to pass through is 1 minute. Jao Lan was our test subject yesterday, he had to try various combinations to find the one of this world."
" Luckily I got it on the fifth one!" Jao Lan exclaimed " I think I went into the 2p world once!"
" You were dreaming." Mike said. " Jao Lan also tested the timing and the other buttons on this remote. You can come any time. We will be giving you four, one for Amir and one for Riana -because they don't come to our school anymore- and one for Kristina and me, for each of our years. So when you want to return, go to them."
" But we have on tiny little problem…" America continued. " Jao Lan didn't really check if the combination for your dimension is correct. He was so desperate to get back that he never got a good glimpse around."
" What?! I was afraid I would end up somewhere like the 2p dimension!" Jao Lan exclaimed.
" Yeah, here's the plan. You have to follow it because I'm the hero!" America said " We will open the portal for Kristina and someone else to go through and check if it's the real world. Kristina will have the watch to communicate with us and we'll open the portal again to let them come back and say our goodbyes and let the ambassadors return."
" You're letting Kristina go again?!" Vietnam exclaimed " Don't you remember what happened the last time? Why can't you choose someone else!"
" I know!" America said " After Jao Lan's trip, I realised if we choose another person, we don't know how the person will react in a surprise situation, which could endanger or even kill the person and put the entire space-time continuum in bad ass danger. Kristina has already proven she can get out of trouble in the 2p world, so it's logical for her to keep going. Someone else has to go with her to keep her safe. Who will volunteer?"
" Ve~ I will! I've always wanted to see what Kris' world looks like!" Italy said, waving his hand high up in the air.
" Are you sure you can protect Kristina?" Germany said.
" Ve~ I'm sure." Italy said.
" I don't know… Italy isn't exactly the best soldier." Britain said. Some people nodded their heads.
" How about China, Vietnam or Japan? I mean it is an asian country and it would be easier for them to blend in with the crowd." Riana suggested. People nodded.
" So which one of you will follow Kristina?" America asked.
" Why not you decide Kris?" Hungary told me. Everyone looked at me. Then I thought hard. Maybe the disguise part isn't such a bad idea. I mean if we did find the right combination, it makes sense somehow to bring an asian so that we would bring less attention. If in a school, China's definitely out because he looks too old to even go to school. That leaves me with ether Japan and Vietnam. Japan isn't too comfortable around strangers but Vietnam might get a bit too violent (I mean more than me) Hm…
" I'll take Viet." I said. Considering Japan might not be good with people, and if we do end up in my school, it would be VERY AWKWARD.
" Hey! Who said I wanted to go?" Vietnam exclaimed.
" Please?" I begged, pouting.
" Your pouting face sucks." Vietnam said, then she sighed. " Sure, I don't want some other thug to get you again anyway."
" Thank Viet!" I exclaimed. Then Estonia passed me the watch. I put it on.
" Wait, Vietnam is not going to our dimension in those clothes right?" Aria said.
" Why not?" Vietnam said. I looked at Vietnam. Hm… Aria's right. Her long green congsam and white pants might be a little weird for a casual wear.
" Yeah, you better change your clothes." Hungary said.
" I'm fine with this!" Vietnam said.
" It's more of the disguise." Hungary explained. I opened my backpack and took out a spare green shirt and threw it at Vietnam's direction. Vietnam caught it mumbled something and left the room. She came back into the room wearing the green shirt.
" Alright my sidekicks, let's start the mission!" America said Then he did something to the controls and the portal, a swirling mass of various colours, appeared like a flash of electricity inside the metallic ring. Lithuania, Tasha, Alisha and Latvia who were near it quickly jumped away from the sudden spark. I swear I heard Tasha exclaimed " MAMI!" again.
" Um… you're sure this is safe America?" Viet asked.
" Sure! 100%!" America exclaimed.
" Come on, just follow after me." I said.
" You sure seem confident after that 2p world." Vietnam told me.
" I'm trying not to remember…" I said before I shivered. Vietnam said no more. I walked to the portal and stepped through it. I felt that glassy feeling pass through my body until my foot landed on soft ground. Soft grassy ground. I squeezed my eyes shut and looked around. I was in an avenue, one between two buildings. There was a tree beside where I stood and a staircase to the building on my right is nearby. This place…
Vietnam fell behind me, well not exactly fall. She had supported herself with her hands when she fell. She was also taking in deep breaths. Vietnam looked up at me and said " Do you always have to go through that?"
" It's not that bad." I told her. " Get up, I think this is it."
" What makes you so sure?" Vietnam asked as she got up and stretched.
" This is the place I was before I went to Hetalia." I said.
" I thought you said you were in the canteen with your friends?" Vietnam said.
" I meant for the very first time." I told her. " I also returned to this spot the last time."
Vietnam put down her arms that she had stretched into the air earlier. Then she asked " Well how are you sure? It could be some other weird place that looks like your dimension."
" Hey Kristina," I heard a voice call out. I looked down the avenue. My classmate, Mei Zing, a girl with long hair came to me. She was walking along her side her other friend Jing Kua, a short girl with her hair in a ponytail wearing the Westlake school PE uniform of a green shirt and black shorts. " We should be going to class now. Who's that?"
Before Vietnam could speak, I quickly covered her mouth with my hand and whispered in her ear " Say your human name."
Vietnam quickly pushed my hand away and said a little too loudly " Tell my human name?! You know me, I don't get comfy with people easy. I'm Vietnam."
I mentally slapped my forehead. Damn… maybe I should have brought Japan instead.
" Vietnam? That's a weird name." Jing Kua said.
" Um… that's her nickname!" I said " She's my cousin! We call her that because her family are the only relatives from there."
" No, my nick name is Viet." Vietnam said.
" Viet, Vietnam, same thing." I said, cutting her off. Then I hissed softly at her. " Work with me!"
" So why is she here?" Mei Zing asked.
" Oh, she's here to see how my school is like." I explained.
" Um… yeah. It's pretty big." Vietnam said.
" Yeah, I know. Everyone gets lost here for the first few days. You better go back to class soon Kris. See ya." Mei Zing said.
" Wait! Um… what day and time is it?" I asked. Mei Zing stopped and raise her eyebrow.
" 29th of May, and it's… 1 o'clock." Jing Kua said as she looked at her watch. It's the same day… the same day as we left. Lunch time has just finished.
We were only away for 45 minutes?!
" Oh, thanks. I forgot." I said.
" No problem. See you Kris and… Vietnam." Jing Kua said then walked off.
" Yeah, see you. Enjoy Malaysia." Mei Jing said before walking after her friend. When they were gone, I sighed. Vietnam didn't seem fazed. I really should have brought Japan instead. I guess he would freak out if I told him or call him by his human name.
" You know human names are meant to be secret, why did you tell me to use it?" Vietnam asked.
" Well Viet, here we don't have human personification of countries." I said " That means you can't go up to someone and say you're a country. People will look at you and say you're crazy!"
" Whatever, so is this it?" Vietnam asked.
" Definitely. We better go back." I said. Then I turned on the watch by pressing the windows. The windows open sideways and the screen turned on. I could see America " Hey dudettes! It's the right place right?"
" Yup! Can you open the portal for us?" I asked.
" Ve~ Kris, are you okay?" Italy asked as he came into view.
" Yeah. I am. So is Viet." I said, facing the screen to show Vietnam, who was looking around for the portal.
" Hey Viet! How's the ambassadors' dimension?" America exclaimed. Vietnam jumped up in shocked and faced me. Then she narrowed her eyes at the watch.
" You didn't tell me the watch did that!" Vietnam exclaimed.
" Really? Oh sorry, I forgot this is the first time you've seen the machine and actually travelled in it." I said " It's suppose to be for communication."
" Why? Not happy to see me?" America said. I heard Vietnam growl. " Neat place anyway.
" Ve~ nice dimension!" Italy said.
" Let me see!" Prussia exclaimed. Most of the other countries also appeared on the screen to take a glance. Some just came to take on look then go out of the screen.
" I don't see what's so good about it." England said " Seems like some normal school."
" Um, can we go back? We ambassadors are late for lunch." I said. Then I heard Yuna's voice exclaimed " We have classes?! What time is it there?"
" Same day as we left, lunch just ended." I said.
" We were only gone for a few minutes?!" Jao Lan's voice exclaimed.
" Yeah. I know." I said. " Can you please open the portal?"
" Yeah dude. I was just about to!" America said. After a few moment, the portal opened behind me and Vietnam. I stepped in through first, facing the glassy like liquid again before entering the dimension machine room again, where I saw all the countries and ambassadors. The ambassadors were taking their things. Vietnam come through the portal after me.
" How is that Malaysia like Vietnam?" France asked.
" Hot." Vietnam said " Basically like our Malaysia."
" That's not much of a difference." Austria said.
" Well, looks like we really have to say goodbye now." Spain said. Silence.
" At least it's not so bad this time." Bec said. " We can return."
" But it's great here isn't it?" Mike said as he passed me the dimension remote. I looked at it. There was one small button at the middle of the remote. Above it are two large square buttons and below is a small screen with a dial. I went to my backpack and put it inside.
" Yeah. It is." Jao Lan said. Then… he started crying silently. We were surprised to see him cry. Before he was faking it but now we could see he was actually genuinely crying. Then he hugged America and said " You're a great hero America!"
" Hey dude, don't need to get all teary okay? You're a great sidekick though." America said as he patted Jao Lan's back. That was when Mike stretched out his hand to Estonia. Estonia took it and shook his hand. Then we all started saying goodbye to whoever we needed to say goodbye too. I went to everyone. Liechtenstein told me to visit soon, Switzerland said a simple goodbye. Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania also said simple goodbyes and to watch for their ambassadors. Poland told me to come back with more fashionable clothes, typical. Austria wished his goodbyes to me in a polite way. Belgium gave me a hug and said she would miss me despite not being very close. The nordic, all who wanted to say their last goodbyes, said their goodbyes, with Denmark and Finland tackling me with hugs. Prussia hugged me and swung me around like some doll. Making me yell out for him to stop. I had to say yet again how awesome he is in a sarcastic way.
Hungary and Vietnam hugged me tightly, I am really going to miss them. We wouldn't be called the Tough Girl Trio with one of us missing. Then America gave me a pat on the back before giving me a bone crush hug. Ouch! Britain wished me goodbye and I hugged him. France asked for a hug, I stood back at first for a joke but eventually did after I had agreed to hug Russia. Russia asked again if I would want to be one with Mother Russia and I instantly said no. China gave me a hug and told me to watch for Syrian.
" Hey, don't be expecting me to miss you, or Bryan or Yuna." Romano told me.
" Yeah right. I know you will." I said as I ruffled his head and giving him a hug. " See ya soon, I'll miss ya too."
" Hey!" Romano yelled. Spain went to us with Yuna nearby and exclaimed " GROUP HUG!" Then he grabbed Romano, Yuna and I and hugged us tight. Romano cursed at Spain while Yuna and I laughed out loud. Bryan and Italy joined us by hugging Spain.
" Okay big brother!" I said " See you soon!"
When Spain finally let go of me, I went to Japan and said " See you Japan. We'll see each other again."
Japan smiled at me and said " Goodbye Kristina. Arigato for all that you have done. I couldn't have met another person like you."
" Hug?" I asked. Japan looked a bit uncomfortable but then nodded. I have him a quick hug before finding Germany.
" Hey Germany! Give me a hug!" I exclaimed.
Germany looked at me and said " Hm, okay." It was a slightly awkward hug but I know Germany meant it. I mean why wouldn't we be close? He's one of the first people I've met here.
" See you soon." Germany said as we stepped apart.
I did a salut and said " Yes sir!"
" Where's Ariel?" Germany asked me.
" Over there with Japan." I said as I pointed to Ariel, who was talking with Japan, over my shoulder. Germany nodded and went to them. I then went to find Italy. I searched for awhile, where did Feliciano go? Then I felt someone hug me from behind and kissed my cheek. I smiled and look behind me. There is my italian lover.
" Ve~ I will miss you bella." Italy said " Please come soon."
" Of course Feli." I said as I turned around.
" Remember, if you ever miss me you can always sing our song." Italy said. Then he kissed me. I smiled as I kissed him when we pulled apart I said " Sure."
" Come on dudes! Time to go! I can't keep this open for a long time!" America exclaimed. I let go of Italy's embrace and stepped back. I waved goodbye and Italy did too. Then I went to the group of huddled ambassadors anxious to go through. I went to them and asked " What's wrong?"
" How's it like to go through the portal?" Alisha asked " I'm sort of scared." The rest of the ambassadors nodded.
" It's like walking through a mixture of melted glass. You'll be fine." I said.
" Can you go through first?" Alyan asked. " If you go, we'll follow after you."
" Nope, I know you." I said " You won't go through even after I do."
" Can I run for it?" Liang Hao said.
" Well… I did once so why not?" I said. Then Liang Hao stepped back. Uh oh. The rest of us made a way for Liang Hao. Then Liang Hao exclaimed " See ya later!" Liang Hao then went on a full sprint towards the portal and passed through. The portal makes you slow down, I wonder if Liang Hao will fall out on the other side? There was a temporary moment of silence.
" Is he there?" Kyanna asked.
" I think so." Sam told her, unsure.
" He's fine. Otherwise he'll be running back." I said. " Who's next?"
" I wanna try!" Sam exclaimed. Then he went to where Liang Hao had stood before and ran towards the portal, disappearing through the portal. Steve went next. He walked from where he stood and into the portal calmly, not saying anything. Brandon said goodbye to Germany and Prussia before walking through the portal.
" Hey Bec, can you go through the portal with me?" Kyanna asked Bec.
" Sure, why not." Bec said, then she looked at Hungary and Austria. Then she said to them " It was awesome being with you Hungary. You too Austria." Austria nodded while Hungary smiled.
" Bye Liechtenstein!" Kyanna said to Liechtenstein with a small wave, Liechtenstein smiled and waved back saying " Bye Kyanna."
Bec and Kyanna stepped back, then Kyanna gripped Bec's arm. Bec steady herself then then ran. Kyanna, who didn't expect Bec to run, stumbled while ran sort of ran exclaiming " Hey! Slow down!" Then… they both were in our dimension.
" I'm getting outta here! Penny, you coming?" Aria said. Penny nodded, then she looked at Japan and smiled. Japan waved to her. Then Aria walked through the portal, followed by Penny.
" Goodbye everyone." Mike said " I better go, since I'm one of the only ones with the remote." Then Mike walked through the portal. Amir said once more how awesome he and Prussia are before walking after Mike, to our dimension. 11 of us left.
" See ya later bastard!" Bryan shouted at Romano, smiling cheekily as he ran towards the portal. Romano yelled after him " You're the bastard!" Too late, Bryan was already in our world.
" Hey, how about we three go together?" Syrian suggested to Alisha and Alyan. Alisha and Alyan nodded eagerly. The three lock their arms together and run to the portal, disappearing. Luckily they are all small, I thought they were going to knock into the ring instead if they didn't squeeze themselves together. Jao Lan then stepped forward and went to the portal. He hesitated and then looked at me. Then he asked " You sure it's the right dimension?"
" Yes, I'm sure." I said. Jao Lan looked at the portal again. Then he asked looking at me " You sure?"
" Oh just move it Jao Lan!" Tasha exclaimed.
" Easy for you to say! You move first!" Jao Lan said as he stepped aside.
" No! You go first." Tasha said. Then the two started to argue. I sighed, not again. Then I saw Yuna and Riana creeping behind the two. Then Yuna pushed Tasha into the portal, with Tasha screaming once again " Mami!" and Riana pushed Jao Lan into the portal too, with him screaming. Riana swept her hand together and said " There! That's done. It's my turn now. See you everyone." Then Riana went through the portal after them.
I looked around to see how many of us are left. Yuna, Ariel and I were the only ones left. Then Ariel walked forward, waving to Germany and Japan for one last time and then asked me " Is it painful?"
" Nah, it's not. Go ahead." I told her. Ariel looked at the portal, took in a deep breath, and walked through. Yuna and I are the only ones left.
" Ready?" Yuna asked me. I nodded. Yuna waved goodbye to everyone and then stepped through the portal. I'm the only one left. It's like the last time. Like how I went through the portal saying goodbye to everyone. This time, I'm ready to leave. All my doubts are gone. I looked at everyone and said " Goodbye everyone, the ambassadors will come back soon." Then I walked through the portal.
My aching heart was slowly subsiding as I passed through the glassy like surface. Then, that familiar hot surroundings and sunlight hit me. I stepped on the ground. I opened my eyes. I did not expect to see that.
Amir and Riana was talking to each other rapidly, talking and arguing about how to get back to their respective homes. Penny was looking around, trying to find Aria who was missing. Jao Lan and Tasha were arguing while Yuna was covering her ears to block the noise out. Brandon was telling everyone to calm down while Steve stood next to him, observing his knife. I didn't know he brought that along. It looks dangerous… Bec and Kyanna were talking to Sam and Mike, discussing what to do next. Alisha, Syrian and Alyan were talking rapidly, talking about how scared they were. Ariel seemed to be in a daze. Bryan was yelling out how cool passing through the portal was while Liang Hao… um… was lying down on the ground, not bothering to move. But he's smiling so I guess he's fine.
" What the heck?" I said. Not the perfect words to describe a meaningful moment of finally being back home. The portal closed behind me. All chaos stopped when the portal closed. We all looked back at the spot where the portal was. Where I first went to Hetalia.
" We should get to class." Yuna said.
" Class? Can't we ditch?" Bec said.
" Yeah… I want to skip class." Kyanna said.
" What about the prefects?" Mike asked.
" They're in class too." Bec said " Come on, we just went through that. Don't you think we deserve a break?"
" I'm calling my parents." Riana said as she took out her phone.
" Same." Amir said.
" What happened to him?" I asked, pointing at Liang Hao.
" He fell down as he ran and didn't get up ever since." Bryan said " Not even Penny could get him up."
Ouch. But the Liang Hao got up and said " I'm fine, I just want to feel how home is like."
" You didn't need to do it literally." Brandon said, giving Liang Hao a weird look.
" I'm going back to class anyway." Yuna said. " What else are we suppose to do?"
" Where's Aria?" I asked.
" Left, she left us the moment she got here." Penny said.
" I guess she really wants to see her friends again." I said. " Well, you know the drill. I don't know what you guys are going to do now but if you guys want to go back, go to me or Mike and set the timing. Be careful on how long you are going to be gone from this dimension."
" Well, this is goodbye. See you next time." Riana said as she put down her phone. We all said goodbye to Riana and Amir as they walked away. Riana stopped for a moment and told me " Thanks Kris."
" For what?" I asked.
