Quinjet
Hawkeye flew the Quinjet towards the satellite, expecting at any moment to be attacked by the weapons on it. When none came, he became suspicious, moreso when some doors opened big enough for the jet to enter. The Mandarin was expecting them, and because of this, it was obvious to Hawkeye that this was a fight he knew he could win. Hawkeye flew the jet into the hangar and landed.
Mandarin's Space Station
They were surrounded by men holding futuristic-looking laser guns. They weren't being aggressive, though, they seemed to be just milling about. The Avengers, and the five teenagers exited the jet, the Avengers on the flanks of the teens. There was a hiss, as a door opened, and the man they had previously seen on the video walked towards them. He wore a strange, chinese cloak that hid his hands in their sleeves as he walked towards them.
"Avengers," said the Mandarin "I've been expecting you. All of my enemies gathered together in one place. This is too good to be true."
"We'll stop you," said Iron Man "Just like we've stopped you multiple times in the past, and this time, we'll stop you once and for all."
Maddie stepped forward, the other four spread out behind her. Then, a beam shot at Sarah, but it didn't come from the Mandarin. It came from behind, from one of the Mandarin's underlings. Not expecting the attack, Sarah was hit in the back. Her eyes narrowed, and she summoned a forcefield around the other four, trapping them and beginning to slowly squash them. Maddie heard a muffled voice from the other side of the forcefield, as the Avengers moved into action.
"Sarah, please, stop," said Ella, faintly, as she began turning blue. The air was getting thinner. Soon, they would all have trouble breathing. Then, a sapphire substance covered the four within the forcefield, and continued expanding out. Ella, now in her blue Sapphire form. They were now within this slowly expanding Sapphire ball. Ella had her face screwed up in concentration as the strain of maintaining the Sapphire ball got to her. Just as she looked like she was about to collapse again, the ball expanded outward, breaking through the forcefield and encompassing Sarah as well. Immediately, her eyes became clear.
"What-what happened?" asked Sarah
"You were controlled," said Sapphire "I can only maintain this orb for so long, there must be a better way to do this, but we don't have time to experiment. We need to take down the Mandarin before something else happens."
"He tricked us," said Maddie "He gave some of his rings to his lackeys, we have no idea where his rings are, how many he has on his person or where the others are."
"We should stick together," said Jack "We can't predict where attacks will come from, so we need to be able to counter all attacks no matter where they come from."
At that time, Ella fell to the ground, the sapphire ball shattering outwards as she fell, using her hands to break her fall. Maddie looked around. The shards of sapphire hit several of the Mandarin's lackeys, pinning them to walls and the floor, and sometimes causing minor injuries. As Ella fell, Sarah put up a forcefield around the five of them. They looked around at the battle waging around them. The Avengers were fighting a losing battle. The Mandarin's rings appeared to be teleporting between the Mandarin and different lackeys, attacks were coming from everywhere. Wasp and Ant Man were unconscious on the ground. Black Panther and Captain America were back to back, surrounded by men fighting them. Every so often, one of them would fire a destructive beam towards the two, which Captain America was barely able to block. Maddie could see they were starting to tire. Iron Man was still up and fighting, but a strange darkness surrounded him, projected from a ring held by one of the lackeys. The Hulk was roaring and pounding people left, right and centre, but wherever his punches landed, he hit only air, as the men teleported away.
"You need to get over there, Jane," said Maddie "Iron Man needs your help, he will go down in that darkness before long, it's only a matter of time. We'll cover you."
Jane nodded, and ran towards Iron Man, light emanating out from her so much, that it was difficult to look at her. The darkness surrounding Iron Man faded. Jack shot a fireball at one of the men fighting the Hulk, and connected, causing him to fall to the ground. As he did, the other men surrounding the Hulk dissappeared. He looked across the room, and nodded, then leapt back into combat. Jane returned to the others. Over in the corner, Black Widow and Hawkeye were in combat with the Mandarin. There was a strange energy surrounding the Mandarin's hands as he fought, and occasionally, beams of energy would shoot out at Hawkeye or Black Widow, which they dodged, freezing part of the wall. Thor threw his hammer at several lackeys that were moving to assist their master.
"It doesn't seem like the Mandarin has his rings," said Maddie "If he did, he would have used them already in his fight with Hawkeye and Black Widow."
"We should act now," said Jack "If we can cut him off from his power, we can defeat him."
"We don't know how the rings work," said Sarah "Or how many he has on him, or even how they are still connected to him. It's possible he can still summon them back to himself as soon as I drop the field. I don't know how long I can maintain it."
"It's the only way," said Ella "I could probably trap him in my sapphire field, but that's harder to maintain all the time. We need a temporary solution until we can capture the rings and block their power."
"Well, here goes nothing," said Sarah, as the five of them went towards the Mandarin. As they prepared to attack, a beam shot at them. Ella turned into her sapphire form, which reflected the beam back to the man who had fired it, reducing him to ash, with a light blue ring on top. Before Sarah could put a forcefield around it, it vanished. A shockwave shot from the Mandarin, just as Sarah, once again put her forcefield up around the five of them. Every other person in the room was knocked down, and the rest of the rings appeared on the Mandarin's hands.
"Enough playing, children," said the Mandarin "If you had joined me, I would have spared you, but you chose to oppose me. You have chosen death."
The Mandarin rose into the air. "Why don't we go for a spin?" The artificial air around them immediately started to speed up.
"Sarah, can you deal with that?" asked Jack. Sarah nodded, putting a forcefield above the Mandarin and pulling him back to the ground, slamming him into it. Before he could get up, Jack threw a fireball at him, forcing him back to the ground.
"We done yet?" asked Captain America, as he walked over.
"Can you shackle him?" asked Sarah, as she put her forcefield around both the Mandarin's hands, slowly pulling the rings off his hands, keeping them within the field. The battle was over, the Mandarin had lost, and nobody had to die.
Iron Man, having faced the Mandarin before, brought out a box to trap the signal the rings connected to the Mandarin. He had been working on it for a while, but had never been able to use it. The Mandarin never sticks around long enough for the box to be tested. The rings were placed in the box and the box closed. Sarah deactivated the forcefield, as Captain America put handcuffs on the Mandarin, leading him towards the Quinjet.
