"As long as I have you, I won't be scared." He says. I crack a smile.
"You have no idea how cliché that is." He chuckles and leans down. I close my eyes, only to be kissed on the forehead. He releases me and walks out the door, closing it firmly behind him. "Be safe." I call out. I sigh and turn around to see Jason, trying to hide in a smile.
"That was cute."
Cammie POV
I sat there on the couch with Jason, both of us had headsets as we watched the screens we had on display. My eyes followed toward the screen with Jonas and Grant in it. Jonas was too stiff.
"Jonas relax, you look so nervous and stiff." I ordered through the headset. Through the cameras, I see him look at the camera.
"It's been a long time since I've been out here. Sorry." Jonas says, trying to shake out his tense muscles. I chuckled a bit and looked over to the others that were watching out.
"Liz is doing better than you." I pointed out as I watched her cooly give a drink to one of the people.
"Concentrating, guys. Concentrating." Liz mumbles, no doubt that was a mantra she was repeating in her head. I let out a small smile.
"You're doing great, guys. Keep it up." I told them. I look toward the screen with Jason and Grant in it, they were just in front of the door of the basement. I sat up straight, looking at the screen praying to God they wouldn't be suspicious of Jonas and Grant. Moments later, they were in. That was the good thing, the bad thing was I no longer had eyes on them. I stiffened.
"Bad boys in the house. I repeat, Bad Boys in the House." Grant says, I can hear the barely maintained smile in his voice. I hear Bex snort from the other side.
"Bad news, I don't have eyes on you guys anymore." I say into the headset. I took my eyes off the screen and looked towards Jason, motioning to a blank laptop screen and nodding towards it. Realization dawns on him and he nods confidently, taking the laptop and began hacking.
"Gosh darn it, if I was there, I could've hacked into the cameras." I hear Liz swearing on the other side. I so badly wanted to tell her "I told you so" but instead, I faintly smiled.
"Guys, tell me what's going on." I ordered to Jonas and Grant. I didn't want them to get compromised at all. I waited a few moments later to hear one of them respond. All I was met with was silence. My heart beat quickened as I repeated what I had said. "I need you to tell me what's happening." I said, clenching my hands. No way were we compromised so easily. Again, I was met by painful silence.
"Uh, Chameleon? Something's wrong with my comm, I couldn't hear what they said." Bex said, trying to play it cool. But deep down, I knew she was scared and nervous. I was too, my heart rate went up even more as I waited. Nothing, nada, zilch, zero. I sharply turned my head to Jason who was still furiously typing. He looked up at me and shook his head: no. I stood up abruptly, tearing my headset off.
"Things have changed, I'm going down there. No way would we have lost communication so fast, something's up." I told Jason, quickly walking to my room to get my stuff. I hear Jason stop typing and slowly stand up.
"Cam," he started off slowly, I shot him a glare, "we don't even know if they've been compromised, just calm down. I'm sure they're alright."
"I don't care!" I yelled, "They're not answering and no way in hell am I letting them getting hurt!" I had stopped preparing and now was pacing back and forth, wringing my hands. "What if they get hurt? Oh god, Liz and Bex." I paled even more as I thought of them losing the ones they loved.
"Chameleon? Chameleon!" I hear my name called out from the head set I had thrown onto the couch. I look at it, a bit scared of what I might hear. Jason looks at me and his face softens as he reaches for my headset, handing it to my trembling hands. I look up at him and I see reassurance in his eyes. I take a deep breath.
"Here." I say into the headset.
"We're alright," I sigh in relief as I hear Grant's voice, "Just some bad signal here and there." I let out a small laugh of relief.
"You have no idea how much you scared her." Jason says into the headset, smirking at me. I stuck my tongue at him as I walk back to the couch, watching the others.
"We're here, we see her." Jonas whispers. Now it was my turn to look at Jason with reassurance in my eyes. He had paled, moving quickly to the computer screens, watching everything and everyone. I bet he hated that we didn't have eyes on them.
"Do you thing and do it quickly." I ordered, "Grant keep an eye out, block him from prying eyes." Over the comm. I hear Jonas talk to Ashley.
"Ashley? Ashley Greenwood? Don't worry; we're here to get you out. We're friends of Jason and Cammie."
Ten minutes had passed as I heard nothing but some of Macey's threats to guys that had tried touching her, Nick's low growls at the sight and Bex and Zach's suppressed chuckles. I nervously tapped on the couch arm rest, it was taking some time. I just wanted this to be over. It became 20 minutes then 30 minutes as I tried waiting patiently and silently. I couldn't take it anymore.
"What's going on there?" I demand, I was on edge, I wanted to get out of here.
"Hold on.." I hear Jonas mumble. I waited and then I heard a little "Aha!" I sighed in relief.
"Go, go, go!" I yelled into the headset, relief had flooded into me, we got Ashley back. But something held me back; I knew Ashley wouldn't be the same, the ordeal, no doubt, was worse than the time she was kidnapped with Jason. She had no protection. She didn't have Jason. I looked at him and he met my gaze with one of his own unwavering stares.
"Get the first aid it." I said, not breaking my eye contact. I hope he understood what my stare meant. She wouldn't only be scarred physically but mentally. That was beyond anything that both of us combined can repair. He slowly nodded and broke the eye contact, going to the kitchen to get it.
Jonas and Grant were know in my sights, I watched them walk into the elevator, Grant carrying Ashley and Jonas nervously tapping his foot and checked his watch. They were coming up right now.
"Guys, pull in. We got her." I say into the comms. "Preferably Liz first, we're going to need your first aid skills." I hear Jason and I turn around to see him sterilizing the equipment. I hear a knock on the door and I run to open it. Grant and Jonas rush in with Ashley and I led them to one of the vacant rooms, rolling up my sleeves.
"Keep watch for the others. I'm going to check her wounds since Liz isn't here yet." I order, they all scramble to the front door, keeping watch. I look at Jason who had a hold of Ashley's hand and murmuring things into her ear. My eyes travel to Ashley and I was horrified. She was all bloody and had a lot of bruises.
I took a deep breath, this was going to hurt.
Heyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. Hold up guys. One more chapter coming your way within the hour(s).
