She hesitated and reached for me, quickly pecking my cheek before I even had a second to comprehend what was happening. "Thanks. For last night. For everything." She says quickly and walks to the door, slamming it firmly behind her. I stare at the door and I began to slowly smile.
"Damn." I whispered, "God damn." She was going to the death of me.
Author's POV [LMAO THIS IS GOING TO BE FUN YAY LOL JK I'LL SOUND RLLY PROFESSIONAL K]
After Zach stood in a trance for about 2 minutes, he shook his head and walked to the door, closing it quietly behind him as he briskly walked to the kitchen and took in the sight. Bex and Grant were cooking, Macey was reading a newspaper, Nick was leaning against the counter with his arms crossed, Cammie sitting in a seat, suspiciously poking at her food and Liz and Jonas looking warily at Bex.
Macey reached for her coffee, taking a sip before anyone can warn her and spit it right out. It was deathly quiet as they watched her.
"What the hell is this!? It tastes like dirt!" she exclaims. Liz slowly moves and reaches for a napkin, wordlessly handing one to her. Bex huffs.
"Grant and Cammie have the Morgan curse, Liz and Jonas can't cook for poop, Nick just likes to stand, you started reading and I was starving!" Maceys huffs too and starts to stand.
"Fine! I'll do it!" Bex blocks her way and scowls.
"Oh no you don't! All you eat is salad or anything essential to green. I want bacon!" Macey's face crinkles into disgust and sits back down. Cammie sighs loudly and places her elbow on the table and props her chin on her hand.
"Only if someone can cook." She drawls out, staring directly at Zach, knowing very well that Zach can cook. It seemed like only Nick caught on and was watching the staring contest Zach and Cammie had. 5 minutes had passed until someone finally gave up.
"Fine!" Zach says, throwing his hands up in the air. He marched towards Grant and Bex, pushing them out as he grabbed the tongs from Bex. Bex gave him a glare.
"What do you think you're doing, Goode?" Zach rolled his eyes in exasperation and turned toward the bacon that was on the grill for too long.
"Why can't you guys just call room service?" He asked, clearly annoyed he had to cook.
"Can't risk it." Cammie says, drinking her orange juice to hide the satisfied smirk she had on her face.
"Since when can you cook, Goode?" Macey asks, clearly intrigued he can cook.
"Since I found out Ms. Trying to Hide my Smirk couldn't." He replied back, knowing that Cammie was trying to hide her smirk.
"Woah. Guys," Jonas says, pausing dramatically, "I'm detecting high levels of sass, specifically coming from the guy at the stove." The group laughs. Cammie was the first to sober up.
"I'm going to check up on Jason and Ashley." They all quieted down and nodded their heads solemnly. Cammie's chair scrapped against the floor as she pushed it back, silently walking down the hall. Zach was watching her from the corner of his eyes. She slid a side glance to him, a surprised look on her face for a moment until it was a mask again.
Cammie had opened the door as quietly as she can, peering inside. Jason was awake; staring down at Ashley, not even sparing a single glance or look to Cammie. His hand was gripping Ashley's hand tightly, his thumb absently rubbing Ashley's hand. Cammie stepped into line with him and they were both staring down at her.
"How is she?" Cammie asks softly. Jason shrugs.
"Not as much as a scream came out of her last night, I wasn't expecting that." He replied back emotionlessly. Jason felt like stone, he was frozen and couldn't seem to say anything that would soothe his fears or Cammie's.
Cammie's eyebrow rose, "Not even a muscle?" Jason shook his head. Cammie sighs and plops down on the chair that was previously occupied by Jason. "You should go get some food, Zach's cooking." Cammie said it more as an order than a suggestion. Jason didn't have much food at all and she feared that he weighed the equivalent as Liz. Jason shrugs again.
"Don't make me kick you out." Cammie warns. She didn't really want to it but if it came down to it, she will. She wanted him healthy before Ashley woke up. "When Ashley wakes up, she's going to see you and decide to look elsewhere asking where her Prince Charming is." A smile tugs at Jason's lips but as quick as it was there, it immediately vanished.
"If." He says, brushing her hair back from Ashley's pale face. Cammie places a hand on his shoulder and gave it a quick squeeze.
"She will." She says determinedly. "Now go, you have nothing to worry about. I'll watch her if she wakes up while you're gone." Cammie gave Jason a small push to the door. He stumbles and Cammie flashes him a concerned look. Jason waves it off, opens the door and heads off to the kitchen.
Cammie sighs and grabs Ashley hands, staring at her Sleeping Beauty state.
"Hey Ash, I know you're in there. Please come back to us. I need you here, Jason needs you here. You can't leave us both. We've had some crazy adventures together, let's go find more. Hurry up and wake up, please. You're safe, I hope you know that." Cammie said softly. Not as much as a muscle twitched in Ashley's body. There was no response and Cammie sighs again.
She wanted Ashley safe, she wanted EVERYONE safe and not within two days; she wanted them safe and away from here immediately. Cammie set her jaw.
That's exactly what she was going to.
