Hey Guys Im Back!

Sorry for the late update I went on vactaion and wasn't doing anything but relaxing :)

Okay here is the new chapter. It should make everyone a little happy because I intergrated several different things into it. We will get to know a little more about shinjaku's story and there are plenty of little moments that should make you smile.

I would like to thank my friend Quickslice for informing me about a small error in the last chapter. The event with Shinjaku and his rebellion happened 150 years ago not 350. That should make things fall in line with the timeline of Bleach.

DISCLAIMER: WHAT IN THE HECK IS UP WITH THESE ZOMBIES! Why is Kubo making such a big deal with these Zombies I am sorry but I find it hard to swallow that these sterritter did i spell that right? come in and are taking out every one from soul society. I mean it has been said that one squad can have as many as a thousand soul reapers in it? Am I supposed to believe that 26 Quincies are taking out the entire might out the 13 Court Guard.

Chapter 18

Trouble Brewing

150 years ago

It was quiet, too quiet. Ryu Shinjaku had been in he 78th district of the Rukongai for fifteen days already and hadn't seen anything out of the ordinary at all. Upon arrival he had sent his team off in different directions in order to be able to cover as much ground as possible. The reports kept coming back the same.

"No news to report. There has been absolutely nothing out of the ordinary to report sir. We have checked the area and the surrounding areas and have found no evidence of any murders that have been committed in the recent past."

With a heavy sigh Ryu looked down at the reports siting in front of them. All of them saying basically the same thing. He was getting frustrated in the past it was not unheard of for reports that reached the sereitai to be inaccurate once they traveled the whole distance. With the advances that Kisuke Urahara had made since the creation of the Research and Development Division it was almost ludicrous to think that any report he had signed his name to would be unsubstantiated.

It was getting near dark, standing up the man decided that if nothing happened tonight he would call the team back and set up a patrol of this area just in case. Extending his finger he called forth a hell butterfly and sent his decision to the head captain. There was no reason to utilize his team for something that try as he might he could just not find any evidence too. Walking out of the door to the small house he had made his base of operations he called for his good friend and fellow captain that had made the journey with him.

"Illiana are you there?"

Immediately upon his call the woman was before him in all her glory. They had known each other since long before they attended the academy together and he counted her as one of his closest confidants. Perhaps one day he would be able to tell her just how much he valued her companionship.

"Of course Ryu. I was just checking out the men to make sure they were all in place. How much longer do you think we will be here?"

"I am not sure yet. I have sent a hell butterfly to the head captain telling him of our lack of finding any evidence to support the rumors. I have requested that we come back and leave a small patrol here just in case."

Smiling she looked at him.

"That's good. We have both spent enough time in these lower districts I am anxious to get back to my bed, and my big bathtub."

"I do not know why you are worried so much Illiana. We have been here for two weeks and you still look like you just got ready for a ceremony."

"A girl has got to keep up her appearances Ryu, I have never heard you complain about my looks." she said slyly.

Not one to miss an opportunity Ryu was about to tell her exactly how much he liked the way she always seemed to be at the height of her beauty when a sudden scream ripped through the night. With the reflexes you expect from two Captains both vanished in the direction of the scream. When they reappeared side by side on a nearby rooftop neither were prepared for what they saw.

In the middle of the small courtyard in front of the was a site of pure terror. A small family of souls were huddled together in the center, a young woman crying loudly as she clutched what was left of her husband. Her two small children whimpering in fear. They were completely surrounded by other souls but there was something very different about them. The way the moved, the way the advanced towards the family, these were not normal souls they were more like animals stalking a fresh kill. Immediately leaping in to action Ryu and Illiana put themselves between those that were advancing. Finally able to see the attackers from less of a distance they were unprepared for what they saw. Every eye in the crowd was completely white and glowing slightly. Advancing ever forward the crowd did not even seem to realize the presence of the newcomers.

"HALT! I am Captain Ryu Shinjaku of the 13 Court Guard Squads! I demand that you cease what you are doing immediately!"

Nothing. Actually worse than nothing. Not one person in the crowd even seemed to register that he had just spoke.

"Illiana use your zanpakuto! See if you can stop them!"

"Right! Steal their Soul Tanashi To Bodi Nusumu!"

Ryu watched as her zanpakuto changed into the fan like weapon he had battled alongside for years. Flash stepping away he watched as she inflicted small slashes into a number of the advancing mob.

"You are mine now! Stop what you are doing and return to your homes!" Illiana screamed.

For the first time since their arrival the crowd responded. The men that she had cut straightened slightly for a few seconds and then continued their death march. Ever so slowly to the small woman and her children that were still crying. Ryu pushed his senses forward and felt a small sign that the man as gruesome as his wounds were, still clung to life.

"Illiana what happened I thought your Tanashi To Bodi Nusumu cannot be blocked?"

She didn't respond. Looking in her direction Ryu saw something in her eyes that he hadn't seen in years. Fear. Pure unbridled fear.

"Illiana! Answer me!"

"Huh? Ryu! We have to go right now! Grab the woman and the children! We have to run!"

Thinking that she was just caught up in the moment Ryu ignored her and faced the mob again which was now within a few feet of being on top of them.

"Why are they moving so slow? They must know we are at a disadvantage!" Ryu yelled.

"SHINJAKU! We have to get out of here and regroup. My zanpakuto completely takes control of anything with a soul. The only explanation of them not succumbing to it is that these things do not have a soul!" Illiana yelled exasperated at the pure magnitude of what she was saying.

"That is impossible! They are souls Illiana!" Ryu yelled back.

"I know that they should be Ryu but somehow they are not, perhaps it has something to do with that weird glow in their eyes."

Shinjaku was about to respond when the closest member of the crowd lept forward and slashed him across his chest with his bare hands. Wincing in pain and cursing himself for being caught off guard Ryu decided to agree with Illiana for now, bending down to secure the small family on his back he looked toward Illiana and vanished.

Reappearing by their small base Ryu watched as Illiana called a member of forth squad to heal the young man while the woman and the children watched.

"We have to go back Iliiana." Shinjaku said solemnly

"These souls are safe now. However we have to find out what is going on with that crowd."

Shaking her head slowly Illiana agreed.

"I know. I only wonder what could possibly be the cause of this. If those people had no souls how are they still here in Soul Society? Why have they not rejoined the rebirth cycle? Ryu just what the hell is going on?"

"I truly do not know. We no longer have anyone to protect let us go back to that courtyard, maybe we can capture one of them and send it to R & D. I am sure that Urahara would be able to shed some light on this."

"That man can be more trouble than he is worth Ryu. His childish games are irritating to say the least."

Smiling Ryu nodded he was sure that Urahara did not know the meaning of seriousness. With a small sigh they both vanished only to reappear in the courtyard a few seconds later. They were ready for anything but what they saw. Nothing. Absolutely nothing not one sign that over a hundred people were just in this small courtyard. Looking around they could not even find any evidence that the small family had been there. There was not one drop of blood were the young man had been laying, clinging to life, a few moments ago.

Stunned faces looked at each other.

"Ryu just what the hell is going on here?"

"I don't know. I just don't know Illiana."

Isshin looked up from telling his tale and was shocked by what he saw. Nearly everyone in the room had fallen asleep. Ichigo and Rukia were cuddled together with Rukia's head leaning on Ichigo's shoulder. Ikkaku and Yumichicka were sprawled out on the floor beside the table with noticeable drool puddles besides both of their faces. Renji was surprisingly the only one that seemed to be at full attention.

"Well, thank you Renji for listening so far." Isshin smiled.

No response.

"Renji...?"

At that moment Renji fell face first onto the table causing a loud bang that woke everyone in the room up. Isshin smiled as he shook his head the man had fallen asleep with his eyes open.

"Strawberry Cheesecake!" Ichigo exclaimed as he shot up knocking Rukia over in the process.

"Man what the hell was I dreaming about?" he mumbled

Looking around the room Isshin realized that the story of Ryu Shinjaku was a long one and it would probably be better to continue it a little later.

"Hey guys it's really late. How bout we continue this after we all get some rest? It has been a busy day after-all."

All heads turned to Ichigo who still had a very sleepy look about him. Being the Captain in charge of the mission it was his call.

"To tell you the truth I dozed off after it had been two weeks since Shinjaku made it to the far Rukongai."

"IDIOT! That means you were the first to go to sleep.!" BAM! "OWWW Rukia!"

Rukia tried to hide her amusement knowing that she had fell asleep only seconds after he did.

"It seems that we should continue this in the morning. Kurosaki do you mind if I check in on your sister I want to make sure she has had no ill effects from the kido used on her tonight."

Ichigo turned a half already asleep again face to Toshiro.

"Huh? Yeah sure whatever Toshiro." he did not catch the smile on Rangiku's face as the young Captain turned and left the room.

At that everyone in the room started to make their way to their separate places. Isshin smiled as he saw Rukia pull Ichigo down to her level and whisper into his ear. He almost laughed when he saw his son's reaction to whatever she said. What was his third daughter up to?

Ichigo was shocked. He couldn't believe what Rukia had just said. All of a sudden she just pulls his ear down and tells him that she wants to sleep beside him tonight. I mean they had had their share of cuddling and making out but she always went to her quarters in squad five when it was time for sleep. To tell the truth he would like nothing more than to sleep beside her but he also knew that she knew how to mess with his resolve.

"I expect Rukia to have her purity when you get married Kurosaki."

Ichigo knew that wasn't what she wanted to do of course but they had made it a point not to give themselves the opportunity to do what they were both thinking about. Now she wanted to sleep in HIS BED! This of course was the logical progression to a relationship that has lasted for well over a year now. But still. Could he trust himself not to take things to far? She had kept him from any type of physical contact for the past week would they be able to stop if they needed too?

Rukia was very proud of herself. With seven words she had rendered one of the most powerful Soul Reapers in existence completely speechless.

"I want to sleep beside you tonight."

She had an idea of what was going through his head right now. Heaven knows it had went through hers several times during the time they had been together. She knew that her brother would kill Ichigo if anything like that happened but it was still fun to mess with her man. It wasn't like they hadn't done anything at all. What do you expect from two people who had been together for over a year. They had definitely gotten close more than once, within a breath. When they got to Ichigo's room she would have her fun. Tease a little bit or maybe a lot and then they would go to sleep in each other's arms. Something she had been wanting to do for some time now.

While he watched Rukia and his son walk out the door, one with a smile the other looking a little pale Isshin wondered why Toshiro hadn't came back to the main room yet. Strolling over to the room Karin was in he heard whispered talking within. Wanting to stay quite so he could hear he slowly tip toed toward the door and place his ear to it.

"We have to tell him Toshiro."

"I think your brother would kill me though Karin"

"We haven't done anything wrong. I am no just his little sister anymore I am sixteen years old and we have been dating for over six months now."

"I know. I really care for you I would have slaughtered that Illiana girl myself if Ichigo wasn't already there."

"You came Toshiro. That's all that matters."

Having heard enough Isshin decided to throw the door open just as Toshiro and Karin's lips met. Both turned with a almost deer in the headlight look about them.

"Toshiro! Karin! I am so happy that you guys are happy! O Masaki! First Ichigo and now our young Karin soon all I will have is Yuzu!"

He never saw the book aimed at his head. WHAPPP!

"WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING GOATFACE! CAN A GIRL GET A LITTLE PRIVACY!" Karin fumed and turned to Toshiro who was still stunned that their secret was out.

"I-Ishin, I mean Captain Shiba I should have came to you first." Toshiro managed to get out.

"It's okay my friend. I am just glad you guys are happy, however now that I know you will have to tell Ichigo."

Both blanched at the thought. It could either go over really well or very badly.

"Later guys! Don't stay up to late kissing each other!" Isshin laughed as he walked away.

Toshiro and Karin looked at each other.

"This could be trouble." they both said at the same time.

Ichigo and Rukia had made it back to his room.

Ichigo was siting on his bed in his sleep pants nearly freaking out. He had never had a girl stay over the entire night before. Rukia had excused herself to her closet to put on something more comfortable to sleep in. What was he going to do? What was he going to say? What...

The door to the closet opened up and a very nervous Rukia emerged wearing one of his t-shirts and panties only. Everything that was in Ichigo's mind a second before vanished.

"Do you like it?" she said as she slowly spun around.

"I wanted to be comfortable and your big shirts are super comfy. You don't mind that I am wearing it do you?" she said with a sly smile on her face.

"Of course not you look good in it." Ichigo managed while trying to banish the images that was forming in his mind.

Laying down he watched her every move as she walked towards the bed and climbed in beside him. Instinctively wrapping his arms around her he winced when his hand slide down a lil to far and received a playful slap on his arm.

"Watch out mister. That kind of thing leads to my brother slicing you to ribbons you know." Turning around in his arms she was able to find his lips and gave him a very passionate kiss.

"Rukia I..."

"Shhhh... I know we can't, but what is wrong with us holding each other tonight?"

Smiling up at him she felt lighting through her entire body when he pulled her closer.

"Nothing at all midget."

Pouting her lip out at him she replied.

"I am not a midget."

"You are and I love it. Rukia, I love you this connection we have I never want it to end."

"Fool. I would never let that happen."

Raising up in his arms for one last kiss she settled into a very comfortable position and began to fall asleep. All the while thinking about how happy she was and how much she wished that they were able to do just a little more.

I am taking on some new things to write with this story and my previous estimate of 60 chapters is looking a bit like 80 now. We have a long way to go guys hope you have been enjoying the ride.
