Chapter 19

A Day Off

Ichigo woke with a start. He could not remember exactly what he was dreaming about but for some reason he was very hungry. He didn't know why but for some reason his dreams always seemed to center around food. Having not opened his eyes yet he started to lean over to roll out of bed when he was stopped by something beside him. Cautiously reaching down he found the mid-section of a certain incontinent that had spent the night in his bed. Eyes snapping open he looked down to see her still sleeping soundly nestled up as close as possible to him. Smiling he looked at the gentle rise and fall of her chest as slept as peaceful as a newborn babe. A warm feeling began to fill his chest as looked down at his future wife. All the battles, everything he had accomplished, all the memories he had made in the last few years he would give it all up just to stay in this moment forever.

"Are you just going to stare at me all day?"

Surprised he looked down to see a smile spreading across her face.

"I didn't know you were awake midget...Can I not look at my fiance?" he replied smugly.

His comment earning him a small elbow to the gut, she smiled as she pushed herself into him closer as if she was trying to make their little space as cozy as the womb itself.

"From what I feel down there you want to do more than just look Ichigo..."

Realization stuck his face as he shyly backed away a few inches. Embarrassed he replied,

"What do you expect you have never been here when I first woke up Rukia..."

She let out a small whimper and scooted herself closer to him again.

"I didn't say move fool, I'm comfy lie still and hold me idiot."

Smiling Ichigo wrapped his arms around her and pulled her as close as possible. There was smile on both of their faces as they drifted back to sleep.

When Karin woke up it took her a second to realize where she was. As she looked around the room the memories of the night before started to flood back into her mind.

"It's about time you woke up Kurosaki."

Karin turned to see Toshiro propped up against the wall. His haori was a little disheveled and she could see that he hadn't had much sleep the night before.

"Did you stay up watching me last night, I told you to get some sleep idiot..."

Toshiro looked up sharply eyes wide with shock.

"I didn't stay up all night...I just fell asleep watching you that's all. It uncomfortable by this wall."

Karin's cheeks blushed a little as she thought about her boyfriend watching her at night.

"You were worried about me? I told you I was fine. Besides why didn't you just lay down over here? This bed is big enough for the both of us."

She smiled as his face turned beat red.

"I couldn't...I mean I wouldn't...What if..."

His stammering was silenced as she walked over to him and planted a small kiss on his lips.

"What was that for?"

"For being worried."

He was almost able to smile until she landed a particularly hard slap against his backside.

"AND THAT IS FOR NOT LISTENING TO ME! I told you to get some sleep and you foolishly stay awake! What if those people attack? Are you in your best condition to be able to help my brother if he needs you?"

Toshiro turned his eyes to the ground. She was right of course it was foolish of him not to regain his strength after the battles of last night.

"Karin I..."

A finger against his lips silenced him.

"It's OK Toshiro. I understand but don't do it again. How can you protect me if you are not in your best shape? Now stop moping and let's go get something to eat!"

A small smile formed on his face as he watched his girlfriend stomp towards the kitchen where the others were already awake and eating breakfast.

"What did I get myself into?" he silently thought.

His mind flashed to the fight that him and Ichigo had had the day of Ichigo's promotion to Captain. A small shudder went down his spine as he thought about the fact that Ichigo still didn't know he was dating his sister.

Walking towards the kitchen he sighed...

"CAPTAIN!"

Toshiro's head jerked to the left as he was met with Rangiku's squeals.

"What is it Rangiku?"

He scanned the room quickly to see a pale faced Karin surrounded by Urahara, Yourichi, Isshin and Renji all of whom were working on the breakfast that Ururu had made for everyone.

"ISSHIN TOLD US EVERYTHING! When are you getting married? He said that you and Karin was in love!"

Tired eyes flashed to his former captain to see a mischievous grin on his face while both Urahara and Yourichi started to laugh.

"The looks on your faces!"

Although Renji was quite enjoying all of this he was struck by a sudden thought.

"Wait a minute this is serious? How long have you and Karin been together Captain Hitsugaya?"

All eyes turned to the couple who had instinctively drawn closer to one another in order to comfort the other from the onslaught that was to come.

"We have been dating for almost six months. Not that it is anybodies business."

Karin snapped back a response tired of the attention.

"We are not engaged." Toshiro said flatly.

"Not yet you are not! Imagine Ichigo is going to marry my blessed third daughter and Karin is going to marry my former third seat! Oh Masaki! Our young ones are growing up so much!

Karin groaned as she landed a hit into her wailing father's gut causing him to topple over the chair he was sitting at.

"None of my kids appreciate me..." He whined.

All present laughed until a sudden thought hit Renji causing him to stand straight up.

"Wait!"

Everyone became silent and stared at the red-haired lieutenant. Who had a slightly apprehensive look on his face.

"Does Ichigo know?"

The question rang thru the room as everyone contemplated the orange haired captain's reaction to the situation. Some visions were very comical others were a little more violent. As one everyone turned from Renji to Toshiro noticing his usually pale demeanor go a few shades paler.

"I will take that as a no." Renji started to bust out laughing like a madman.

"What the hell is wrong with you Renji?" Matsumoto asked.

Renji had to seriously try to compose himself before he answered still snickering'

"The strawberry is going to bust a valve when he finds out Captain."

The remark causing the Ice Dragon's face to pale even more. Captain or not it was common knowledge in the Soul Society that you did not want to be on the receiving end of Tensa Zangetsu.

"It is non of Ich-Ni's business! I'll handle him myself. Don't worry Toshiro I won't let him do anything crazy."

The remark from his girlfriend caused everyone who wasn't laughing already to burst out even more. To think a captain of the gotei 13 being saved by his girlfriend.

"Speaking of that idiot. Where is he?"

Isshin closed his eyes for a second and then a smirk ran across his face.

"My son and my beautiful third daughter are still sleeping...together."

Around the room eyes widened at the implications. Once again Renji started to laugh.

"I hope that idiot hasn't done anything stupid or my Captain will slice him up with Senbonzakura again."

Everyone laughed at this. It was common knowledge that one of Captain Kuchiki's favorite pastimes was messing with Ichigo. Although Byakuya tried to hide it everyone knew it was true. Everyone that is except Ichigo who just thought he had really bad luck.

At that moment Ichigo woke up, he was a little irritated because he was having a good dream about wonderful foods. He didn't know why but he always seemed to dream about food.

"Yo Rukia what time is it?"

Silence. Looking down he saw that the spot where she had been laying beside him was vacant.

"Rukia?"

Ichigo got out of his bed and looked around he couldn't see the petite shinigami anywhere. Walking out into the hallway he noticed steam coming from under the bathroom door. Walking over he cautiously started to turn the handle. In his mind he was screaming at himself. What the hell was he thinking what if see was naked? The door started to open slightly and he could just make out her small figure thru the shower curtains as the steamy water poured out of the spigot.

"Rukia?"

She popped her head out from behind the curtain and smiled widely when she saw him.

"Good morning Ichigo! I just had to have a shower this morning the showers here are so much better than the ones we have in Soul Society."

Seeing that she didn't mind his presence he made his way into the room and closed the door behind him. Nervously scratching the back of his head he tried to look at anything but the form her body made in the folds of the almost too see thru curtain.

"Yeah. I know the pressure here is so much better."

Suddenly she stuck her head out again with a rag in her outstretched hand.

"Hey since you are here why don't you wash my back for me?"

"Wha-What? I couldn't.." his words got stuck in his mouth as she wrapped the curtain around her lower half exposing her naked back to him. As the painfully long months of their engagement had went by moments like this were getting more and more common. As they were getting more comfortable with each other their natural instincts had been slowly surfacing. Ichigo was more than amazed that more often then not it was her that started these little encounters. As much as he enjoyed them he just didn't know how much longer he could hold out before they went one step to far.

"Rukia I...You...Dammit give me the rag."

He hated the fact that she always won. As he started to run the soapy rag down her back feeling every fold in her skin, every muscle beneath the surface he was awestruck. Her head began to lean back as his touch began to ignite the urges that she had been fighting for so long. Feeling that he had stopped she turned her head to see a very red faced Ichigo looking at her as if he was seeing into her very soul. Smiling she nodded her head towards the shower.

"It feels really good in here...Want to join me?" her eyes immediately lowered as she couldn't believe how brazen her comment had just been. What if he said yes? Could she control herself when she knew that they were both on the verge of throwing caution to the wind?

"Rukia I want too. I want to more than you could ever know. But if I get in there with you I will not be able to stop what will next. That is something I want to happen the night of our wedding. Which is thankfully not to much farther away."

She looked at him almost shocked at his reply then smiled widely. Grabbing the front of his shirt she pulled him towards her as she let the curtains fall away from her body. Pulling his shirt over his head as she pulled him into the shower with her.

It was that simple comment that broke whatever walls she had left. He was here, he was hers and she loved him more than she could explain with words. They had waited so long and they both knew that what they had was something that would last forever. She did not care about anything except the fact that she wanted him right here and now. Screw the consequences.

Ichigo tried to resist for about two seconds until she let the curtains fall away and he saw he there before him in nothing but a smile. At that moment the last shred of resistance that he had struggled to hold onto crumbled into nothing. It was there on that morning after sleeping in same bed for the first time ever that they were one for the first time. Years later when they would talk about it with each other they would still remember the unbridled passion of that morning.

Around the table everyone was talking idly when they were all hit with a massive wave of reiatsu from both Ichigo and Rukia. Everyone stopped what they were doing and looked at each other with smiles on there faces. There was an unmistakable air of excitement and passion in the wave. All at once everyone at the table started laughing.

"It's about damn time!" Yourichi laughed

"My son has become a man!" Isshin laughed as Karin looked at him in disgust.

"Wow that was some powerful stuff!" Rangiku laughed

At the far end of the table Renji had a pale look on his face as he smiled.

"That idiot has done it now."

The wave was so powerful that it was felt throughout the Soul Society. Many of the people who knew them best smiled and had the same thought that Yourichi had earlier.

In the office of the barracks of the sixth squad one figure stood slowly. Then pen he had been writing with broken in front of him. Steel gray eyes slowly looked up full of rage. He knew that a two year engagement for two of that age would be hard on anybody. He had actually expected this long ago. That didn't mean that he was happy about it. The boy must be punished.

"Come Senbonzakura we have a lesson to teach."

The slightest hint of a smile crept across Byakuya's face as he started to slowly walk towards the senkaimon.

Well there you have it! Their first time! It had to happen sometime!

So many thing going on right now! The next chapter is going to continue the day off, Ichigo needs to find out about hitsu/karin and byakuya is going to make an appearance!

I am taking a hint from kubo himself on this one he has a habit of totally changing the subject for a few chapters and I am doing the same the main story will be back in full swing in a few chapters.

I havent forgot that i haven't finished the origin story of Shinjaku yet either it will come I promise.
