The Others Arrive
I hate my life right now… I thought as I struggled against the Rahkshi. Jessica had disappeared into the portal's walls, everyone in the group was freaking out as more Rahkshi appeared and attacked them, latching onto each person and forcing them to the wall. A blue one attacked me, and forced both itself and myself to the wall. I wiggled to escape its grip. Water. Water was everywhere. Thankfully, I was able to escape and swim to the surface. What I saw next startled the living daylights out of me. From the buildings and the blue matoran walking around, I could only guess that I was in Metru-Nui, Ga-Metru. Something grabbed my foot, pulling me back under. Clearly, this one was willing to die than rather have me escape and die with it. Sudden memories of the incident crossed my mind. Before I went under, I screamed for help.
Hahli was content. Even though Ga-Metru was slightly dull, it was better than the village that they had on Mata-Nui. Jallar also seemed impressed with his new home. But this Turaga Dume person, he slightly bothered her. Vakama and the other Turaga didn't seem to mind him. Suddenly, a sharp cry for help sounded from the canal that she was walking by. Hahli turned her head just in time to see a blue and gold head go under the water. Hahli recognized the colors of a Psionic Toa, but only heard rumors about them. Suddenly, she resurfaced, fighting a Rahkshi. Hahli's eyes widened. She needed to get Toa Gali and tell her about this, the sudden appearance of a Toa and a Rahkshi meant one thing. Trouble. Hahli dashed towards the water toa's home and cried out, "Toa Gali, Toa Gali!"
Sydney was desperately trying to stay above the water, and not to be dragged underwater by the Rahkshi stubbornly yanking on her leg. Shoving at it while trying to swim wasn't the greatest of ideas, she thought as her head bobbed underwater while she pushed the Rahkshi down once more, then resurfaced and spat out some protodermis that had gotten in her mouth.
"Get off of me!" She screamed, once again petrified of what was going to happen. Memories of good times with her friends and family flashed in her head. A faint splash reached the terrified teens ears.
"Let the Ce-Toa go, son of Makuta!" A feminine voice shouted before the Rahkshi was blown deeper into the protodermis sea by a torrent of water, with bubbles floating upwards as it tried to scream at it's misfortune. Sydney started to desperately swim toward shore, the current still pulling her towards the protodermis sea. A gentle, yet firm hand gripped her upper arm, and felt that she was being pulled. Helping out the best she could, Sydney kicked her legs to help propel her towards the platform stretching over the waterway. Once reaching the platform, she grabbed the edge of a platform and hoisted herself up onto it. Sydney stood up and took a couple of steps away from the sea, then fell as she felt her legs give out underneath her.
"Easy, sister, you put up a good fight." A familiar voice said to her, and that she was eased to the ground. Sydney looked up at her rescuer, and her eyes widened as she recognized the Mask of Water-Breathing her rescuer wore.
"Thanks, Gali." She faintly said as she felt her eyes grow heavy, and slipped into unconscious almost immediately.
Gali looked stunned at the Ce-Toa, now bewildered of how she knew her name. Gali knew that most female Toa were smaller than their male counterparts, but this one seemed like she was even shorter than the average. Suddenly, the Ce-Toa's body shivered and shrunk, revealing a tiny brown haired human that Gali was very familiar with. What surprised her even more was the fact that her hair was shorter, and blue and gold tribal markings covered her face, neck and arms. Sydney!, Gali thought as she dropped down to Sydney's side and picked her up. The teen was breathing heavily, Gali wasn't sure if she had swallowed a lot of the liquid protodermis, but she knew that she had to get her to the Turaga immediately. Maybe they could figure out what was going on.
"Hate hate hate hate, HATE ICE!" Emilee screamed as she attempted to regain her balance on the ice. The white "son of Makuta"(As Sydney had called them) was still behind her, only it was flying on it's staff and was gaining ground on her position. "And how the HELL are you frickin' flying!" The Rahkshi let out a screech in response, then dove downwards and increased its speed as it tried to dive-bomb. This is not my day at all… Emilee thought miserably to herself as she turned the corner and ducked into one of the nearby towers. Emilee didn't realise that some small robots were inside. "Ahh… wrong tower?" Emilee said nervously as the robots stared at her abrupt entrance. Nervously, Emilee looked around, looking for another exit. Her attempts of escape were cut off as the Rahkshi smashed through the wall behind her and let out a screech. The smaller robots started screaming, and began running any direction they could go to get away.
Kopaka was looking around from atop one of the many towers in Ko-Metru. Nothing could possibly disturb the peace that usually covered the icy section of the city. But the unearthly screech of a Rahkshi made him stiffen. He thought that after weeks of being in Metru Nui and containing the more dangerous of the Rahi, they would finally have some peace. Quickly, he used his mask power to home in on the source of where the sound came from. It was at the base of one of the towers close to him. Going to X-Ray, he counted 5 Matoran, a single Kurahk Rahkshi, and…. A Toa? Kopaka frowned at this new development. Had Gali or Lewa forget to inform him about a new arrival? No, Gali would have told him that a new Toa had arrived by boat, Lewa would have spread the news to every Matoran in his Metru if a new Toa had arrived, which would spread to all of the others in a matter of hours, if not days. Kopaka knew what needed to be done, and it had to be done quickly.
Emilee started to back away from the Rahkshi, unsure of her next move.
"Nice Rahkshi…." She muttered, suddenly feeling the wall behind her. Emilee was afraid, not knowing of what was to happen to her. Thinking of all of her friends, family and all of the good times she had with them, set a spark that lit the flame. Emilee felt a new power begin to grow inside of her, then spread into the rest of her body. The teen's eyes flickered around the room one last time, and as the Rahkshi raised its staff above its head to strike her down, she drew her arms back and screamed out in fear, "Leave me ALONE!". And then the world turned red.
Kopaka rushed towards the scene by jumping from one tower to another and avoided the various hordes of Rahi that had placed their nests on top of the Knowledge Towers. As he landed on a tower only a few blocks away from the site, he activated his mask power and took another look at the site. He took note that the Matoran had already evacuated the area, meaning that there'd be less casualties if the battle got too out of control. However, the new Toa was having much difficulty fighting the Rahkshi, and was now against the wall with the Rahkshi slowing closing in on her. I've got to hurry, Kopaka thought as he prepared to jump when he noticed that the Toa began to produce vast amounts of energy. His eyes widened in fear as he realized what was going to happen, then turned to face the Matoran below.
"Everyone, you need to flee the area! We've got a Toa preparing to release a Nova Blast!" He yelled out as he jumped down to ground level and helped some of the slower Matoran get out of the blast radius. A few seconds after he warned the others, an explosion rocked the entire area as fire consumed the tower. Kopaka looked back and gaped in shock. The Kurahk was reduced to nothing but ashes, and the tower had suffered severe structural damage. He was finally able to see the Toa who had produced the Nova Blast. Tall and thin, the white and red toa stared at the pile of ashes, panting. While he figured that a Toa of Fire had produced the fire-based blast, he was surprised by the fact that the Toa was actually female, which was believed impossible for a Ta-Toa. The female started shaking, and went to her knees, as if she was struggling to comprehend what had happened.
"W-w-wh-what… What? Did… did I do this?" She stammered, looking at the destruction around her. Kopaka slowly made his way to the confused female, who had started to shake harder than before. "S-St-Stay away from me!" The female said as she began to back away from him. "I don't want to hurt you!" Kopaka sensed the distress the Toa had, much like the teenage Watson that he and his friends had befriended.
"Just like Sydney…." He muttered to himself, shaking his head. That caught the female's attention.
"Wait, did you say what I think you just said?" She demanded, blue-green eyes narrowing. Kopaka then noted the seriousness in her tone, almost how Tahu got when he discovered something kept from him. As she approached him, her body shrunk and became more organic until a black haired teen who was only up to his chest stood before him. "What did you say about my friend Sydney?" Kopaka realized that this girl meant business. "Well?"
Kopaka took a breath to compose himself, then said; "I have no idea who you are. But I can assure you, you're in good company." The girl frowned at him.
"You better be one of those "Strange friends" that Syd was going to tell us about." The teen said, pointing at him. Kopaka winced slightly, thinking of the pile of ashes that was once a Rahkshi. He understood the Or else that had been left unsaid, he decided not to mention it to her.
"I'll take you to the Turaga, I'm sure that he will be able to help you." He told her, then turned towards the Colosseum and began walking.
"Hang on a second…. I don't feel the greatest right now…." The girl stated, before collapsing into a heap. Kopaka looked stunned at her, suddenly seeing the "tribal markings" on her body. Kopaka had a feeling that this wasn't the end of the strange turn of events.
Amanda would have been having the time of her life, if she wasn't being chased by the Rahkshi. I'm getting my exercise, that's for sure… Amanda thought as she rounded at a corner and continued to run away. What had bothered Amanda was the fact that the people of this strange place was the fact that the people where green, about up to her hip, and had some weird slang that she surprisingly liked. But she really couldn't complain about anything right now, seeing that the green menace was still chasing her.
"S'cuse me! Sorry, coming through!" Amanda called out to the little robots, who moved quickly out of the way, seeing her and Rahkshi close behind her. Several of them started screaming in distress. The Rahkshi didn't seem to bother with the little robots, because it's beady little eyes were focused on her. Amanda looked behind her to realise that the "Green Menace" was closing in on her. WACK!
"OW!" A voice sounded form in front of the teen. Amanda turned her head and looked startled at the taller green robot, wearing what looked like a mask. He opened his eyes at her and stared back. "Why'd you run rapid-quick into me?" he asked her. Amanda didn't answer him right away, due to the fact that she stared at him. But the screech of the Rahkshi made her jump up.
"Sorry-oops!" She muttered, not realising that she was catching onto the strange word play and dashed off, hoping that she didn't really hurt him.
Lewa stared at the retreating light blue and white toa has she dashed off, leading the Rahkshi away from other Matoran and deeper into Le-Metru. Lewa was still trying to figure out where she came from! Whom ever this was, she was certainly in trouble. Grabbing onto his air katanas, he began running for a short distance, turned his blades inward, and then jumped into the air and used the air currents to "quick-soar" up for a Gukko's eye view of what was ahead. As he looked down upon the area, he saw the Toa running towards the center of the Metru with the Rahkshi right behind her. Taking note of the surrounding area, he swooped down right next to her and said, "Quick, sister!" The toa squeaked and looked at him in awe.
"How did you- did you wind-fly?" She asked him stupidly, dark blue eyes wide. Lewa looked at her with a small amount of confusion in his face. Maybe she's never seen an air Toa-hero before.. Lewa thought as she looked at him oddly, as if she was looking for wings or a jetpack. The Toa looked back and groaned. "This is dark-luck for me…" She muttered and started to back away. However, her other path of escape was blocked by the Rahkshi, who had finally caught up to her. Lewa glared at the green Rahkshi, who was advancing toward them. Or… was it after her?
"Sister, we must join forces if we wish to defeat this Makuta-son." Lewa said as he stepped next to her and held his katana in a stance, ready to attack. The female looked at him in distress.
"How can I help? I've never attack-fought before… Unless that includes argue-quarreling…." She muttered, looking down cast. Lewa looked at her, the dreaded realization of hearing her words in his mind. He looked back at the Rahkshi. Maybe I could distract it and lead it away. Lewa thought as bent his knees and prepared to charge forward. As if sensing his intent, the Rahkshi let out a loud screech, then slammed its staff into the ground. As the staff's poison spread through the ground, the ground crumbled away until the three were in a circle surrounded by acid.
Amanda looked around, truly scared out of her wits. Ok…. crazy big green robot shows up being able to wind-fly. Then he calls me "sister". Now….. we're all surrounded by acid! Amanda looked up at the green robot, who had taken the liberty to attack the Rahkshi by slamming its swords into the Rahkshi's staff. Amanda thought; I wish I had a weapon… Suddenly, something heavy was in her right hand. Raising her hand up, a double ended staff with twin prongs was brought to her line of sight. A slight prickling warmth tingled down her arms. Amanda let off a grin, having a feeling that she knew what to do next. As she raised the staff even higher, the sky began to darken and a rumble shook the air. The green robot took notice to the rumble and promptly dodged the Rahkshi's attack, looking around nervously. He then noticed what Amanda was doing and asked her, "Sister, is the sky-quake your doing?" Amanda grinned and concentrated harder. Then the Rahkshi gave a screech. Both the green robot and Amanda looked at the Rahkshi, only now it was blacked and twitching on the ground. Amanda stared in disbelief.
"Did…. I do that?" Amanda said faintly as she looked at the staff with both awe and fear. the green robot nodded, eyes wide with fear. Amanda realised that she had a tale to tell when she found her friends. Suddenly, her eyes started to water up. "Oh no….." It had suddenly dawned on her that her friends maybe gone, maybe even killed. Her staff dug into the ground, acting as a support, for now, Amanda was sobbing.
Lewa was now really confused. This Toa is ever-strange, he thought as the female broke down into tears. He walked up to her, then put his hand on her shoulder. "Sister, what's the worry-trouble?"
"M-m-my friends! Those… those things came after us at school! T-t-then talking portal showed up… Sydney tried to tell us story-tale….. Now….. she's gone….. all of them…" The female Toa said, looking up at him with a face filled with sorrow.
Lewa's eyes widened and he took a step back at what he had just heard. "You've seen Sydney?!" He asked her, sounding shocked. Again, a small look of puzzlement filled her face.
"Yes, she's almost like a sister to me, and a ever-true friend of mine. Wait, are you one of those "strange friends" Sydney was going to say-tell to us?"
"Yes, she helped us deep-hide in her house when we were transported to your ever-strange world." Lewa told the Toa, then eyes widened in shock. There before him, was a teenager with brown faded-red tipped hair and green eyes staring at him. Light blue and white markings covered her face and neck, leading down her arm. Lewa blinked, bewildered at the sudden turn of events. The teen then started to blink rapidly, as if she was straining to remain conscious. Lewa immediately grabbed the girl's arms as she let go of the staff and was about to slump to the ground.
"Easy-rest, sister. You've been through much today." Lewa said, then started walking towards the Coliseum. Lewa hoped that the Turaga had some idea of what was going on.
Toa-of-Spirit: Well then, this took longer than I hoped… For that I totally blame school for this… and horrible grades….. but oh well. Be sure to thank Thanatos's Scribe for helping me out with this chapter! Anything you would like to say?
