First my sincere apologies for being gone for so long, I've been working trying to finish school (I am officially done and can now proudly say that I've got an associate degree) there have been a few family issues (moving back and forth, health issues, etc.) and to be honest I've sort of lost interest in writing not only this story but just writing in general but I've slowly been getting back in the saddle and I'm working on finishing what I started. So Enjoy!

Chapter Forty Nine

Maggie sat in the loft reading the instruction manual to the tractor wearing the lens less glasses her father had given her when she heard the familiar rumble that could only belong to one truck and the smile on her face grew as she ran down the steps, "Your Home!" she exclaimed immediately jumping into her father's arms as he spun her around before putting her back on the ground allowing her to run over to do the same to Lois.

"I see you've been busy" he states gesturing to the manual while he grabbed the luggage from the truck bed.

"Kara said that I should test my brain with complicated things and Grandpa was trying to get the tractor running so I thought I could help"

Clark just chuckled, "I think we should save the mechanics until your at least old enough to actually drive something" he bent down and kissed her head then walked over towards Lois who was currently chatting with Martha, "Where's Dad?" he asks looking around expecting to his the sandy haired farmer somewhere.

"Ben Hubbard's son just had a baby so your father is down there feeding the animals and taking care of the place until he comes back" Martha responded and saw the look of concern cross his face, "The doctor's gave him the go ahead to go back to work and he's been very careful not to push himself…Margaret saw to that"

The eleven year old beams up at her father which caused Lois to suppress a giggle, "Why don't you come on inside and tell me how the honeymoon went." Martha and Maggie turned to head into the house leaving the couple behind.

"Looks like things haven't changed"

"Well considering we spent a month traveling around Europe and another on Themyscira I doubt much has changed" he holds the door open for her then picks up the suitcases only to drop them on his feet when he looked around the house surprised at the change, "or maybe they have"

Martha set the pie on the cooling rack and turned around to see the expression on her son's face, "Kara may have accidentally set fire to the house" Clark looked back at her, "But it wasn't her fault. She was practicing out back with the scarecrow and she sort of missed. I've wanted to change up the place so in a way it was a blessing"

Lois gave Clark a look and he quickly wiped the look from his face, "It looks beautiful as always Martha"

"Your part of the family now, you can call me mom" she stated placing a slice down in front of Maggie then two extra plates for the happy couple and offered them a small smile.

"Just like I call you mom…mom" Maggie stated warming Lois's heart even more when a dog's bark caused the eleven year old to run off towards the barn, "Now how soon until I can expect those grandkids" Martha's question causes the young couple to turn around almost immediately.

"Mom!" Clark exclaims giving his mother a look that she ignored and the girls became engrossed in their own conversation.

Eventually he just gave up and went off for a walk around the farm. He soon found himself out in the back fields where the horses they boarded were allowed to roam free. It was a sight Clark often admired watching even as a child.

The sky was bursting with color as the sun began to set while he leaned against the fence lost in his own reflection.

If you had told him years ago when he first came back to Metropolis that he would get his second chance at happiness with a woman that made everyday worthwhile he wouldn't believe it but here he was and he wouldn't change a thing.

"Dad!" "Clark!" Maggie and Lois called out simultaneously in the distance.

He stared at the fiery sky with a smile and gave the fence a pat before turning around and trudged up the grassy hill where his family was waiting for him

END of Part One

This chapter was kind of the epilogue to Part one hence why it's kind of short. Took a very long time to figure out how I wanted to end it and think this was the best way to end it at least until part two.

The majority of people agreed that it would be easier and I have to agree with them because most times some people will read the sequel and they'll feel left out then have to go back to read the first story to catch up. I've done that couple times myself.

But before part two gets started I just want to say this is probably the most happy I've been while writing a story because of you guys and I just wanted to thank all of you for the support you've shown me and the patience you showed when sometimes you probably wanted to walk away (some have) but from the bottom of my heart THANK YOU!
