LIII

Frank

(A/N: Porphyrion chapter. Kind of underwhelming, but I hope it's funny enough to make up for that. Enjoy, and don't forget to leave a review!)

Frank stepped back from Porphyrion. He was the most massive giant Frank had ever seen. He remembered Jason, who had had to fight him half a year ago, and felt a little sympathetic for him. Now, Frank had to fight him, and it wasn't going to be easy.

However, Frank realized one thing: Porphyrion hadn't brought a single monster to the battlefield. Either he had given them all sick leave, they had ditched him, or they were with Eurymedon, preparing for another attack.

Frank felt like this was going to be easy. There was just one giant, and he was facing a legion and a Camp of over a hundred people. The only problem was, as always, they had a shortage of helpful gods at the scene. Looking back on his exploits, Frank realized that gods always came in the middle of battle- never before. But he never counted on that happening. For now, he needed to concentrate on what he had.

"I have come to kill as many of you as I can!" he yelled. "I am immune to lightning! Anything electric will only make me stronger!"

"Erm, we don't have anything electric." an Apollo kid (Greek) said. "But we do have this!"

He pushed forward a giant speaker attached to an iPod. Nothing electric, huh, Frank thought as the guy pressed play.

Suddenly, Frank's ears were blasted with the loudest dubstep music he had ever heard. Beat after beat hit Frank like a wave. Then he realized that the speaker wasn't just a speaker- it was a sound cannon. Every time the music hit a beat, a wave of pure sound rippled through the air, sending the giant staggering backwards. Frank felt himself getting pushed back by the sheer power of the sound. Porphyrion wasn't faring any better either- he was grimacing every time the sound waves hit him. But of course the Apollo kids weren't done. They tapped on the iPod and the track changed. Unfortunately, Frank had a pretty good idea of who it was.

"You're insecure... don't know what for. You're turning heads when you walk through the door..." the speaker sang. Frank had to appreciate their strategy, because everyone in the camp, campers and giant, were covering their ears and screaming. Except for Frank, because he had zero taste.

"NO! NOT ONE DIRECTION!" Porphyrion yelled. His face was covered in an expression of abject terror. He kneeled on the ground, rolled up like a little kid. "ANYTHING!"

"All right, all right," Frank could barely hear the voices over the music. The Apollo people tapped on the iPod again, and another song started to play. Frank was even more impressed at how much culture they knew, because the speakers started to sing Let It Go.

"The snow glows white on the mountain tonight... Not a footprint to be seen..." the speaker got louder as Porphyrion crumbled to the ground. "I'VE HEARD THIS TOO MANY TIMES!" he yelled. Like he was growing weaker by the second, he crawled towards the giant speaker. But as he raised his fist to smash it into a billion pieces, a giant flaming boulder crashed into his head.

"Not today!" a Hephaestus (not Vulcan) demigod said. She and a few people had rolled out a giant catapult onto the playing field, along with a few extra toys, including (but not limited to) a laser cannon, an ice gun, a giant taser, and an automatic machine that threw rubber chickens. The giant was pelted by rocks and rubber chickens, had his arm frozen and got pretty bad eye surgery.

The smoking crater that his eye had been was dripping pus. His eye, which was the size of a basketball, was on the ground, soaking the grass around it. Except that it wasn't his full eye- just three quarters of it. Everybody was running away from it, because it was still blinking and slowly sinking into the ground at the same time. Suddenly, the eye came back in Porphyrion's eye socket. "I cannot be beaten! Where are your gods now?" he yelled.

"I am right here." a voice answered. This voice Frank was very familiar with. He turned around and saw Mars- no, Ares- no, both of them- standing on the field. He was a combination of Mars and Ares. While he was wearing a purple bedsheet, he was also carrying an AK-47, an M16, a grenade, a spear, a double-edged sword and a pair of giant iron balls connected by a chain.

"Impressive arsenal you have there, Mares." Porphyrion mocked him. "Would you like to include cheese spray in your list of deadly weapons as well?"

"As much as I would love to include that," 'Mares' said, keeping that solemn look on his face, "I seem to have run out of stock. CHARGE, DEMIGODS!"

Donning their weapons and armor, the group of demigods swarmed the giant. Arrows, dubstep music, greek fire, swords and vines completely overwhelmed the giant. He tried to stop some of the demigods under his feet, but he didn't manage to. In less than a minute, he had been pinned down on the ground. Plants were sprouting out of his cheeks- no doubt the work of Satyrs- and he was bruised all over.

Mars/Ares walked towards him. "Idiot." he rasped. He grabbed the sword and stabbed it straight into Porphyrion's chest. The giant exploded into dust.

A lot of demigods sat down. They must have thought that the job was done. But Frank knew better. "Guys!" he yelled. "Stay alert! This battle isn't over yet."

It started off quite faint at first, but it kept getting louder. Frank realized that the source of the sound was still very far away, because even when the sound was so loud it threatened to swallow the world, he still couldn't see anything. Mars/Ares suddenly crumbled to the ground.

"It is happening!" he yelled. "I can no longer stay! The pain... he will destroy me!"

In a flash of light, he was gone.

Frank wasn't too surprised. If Eurymedon was in fact the bane of every god, that meant that Ares/Mars wasn't going to be too big of a help. But then, the rumbling stopped.

Then, Frank felt the Earth shake. Frank knew that this was the tallest giant in the world. Judging by just how big the statue was, he was pretty positive that this giant was at least a hundred feet tall.

A towering figure stomped from far off. Even from the Camp, Frank could see him. And he had to be, what, a kilometer away.

"CAMP HALF BLOOD!" Eurymedon roared in the loudest voice that Frank had ever heard. "I HAVE COME TO KILL EVERY LAST ONE OF YOU! YOU SHALL ALL PERISH, AND TODAY, NO GOD IS GOING TO SAVE YOU!"
