Tap. Tap. Tap. The soft-padded footsteps were heard as Kylie walked away from the Takemi Park. Clenching her fists, she shook her head frustratedly, trying to clear away all thoughts from her mind. Her whole body trembled with every step she took as tears began to escape.

"Kylie! Wait for me!" Behind her, Rei shouted and ran towards her. However, she didn't stop to wait. Instead, her soft footsteps became torrents of 'pitter-patter' as she broke into a run. She didn't like being in this state, and she definitely didn't want anyone close to her to see her be in this state. Seeing Kylie increase her footsteps, Rei sprinted in order to catch up to her. He knew how she was feeling now, and though he had no idea what he had to do in order to help, he weighed his options and felt it was best to catch up with her first.

"Kylie!" He reached out and grabbed her arm, stopping her from running any further. He felt her tremble as he spun her around to face him. Taking in a ragged breath and giving out a quiet sob, she looked down, not wanting him to see her face.

"Kylie! Look at me! You have to try to let it go, you can't do this every time! It's not going to help anyone!" He tried to explain. To say the truth, he was burning at both ends now. He understood why Kylie felt that way, but of course, he felt that it was better if revenge was taken. Rei could do almost everything, but when faced with a girl crying, he had no idea how to comfort her.

"Just how long more, then? Just tell me how long more I have to do things like that? It always sounds so nice, clearing the world of evil. But we're the ones who exterminate them, aren't we considered evil too? They're people, Rei. Their heart beats, even if it's not for their victims, they beat for their loved ones! Do you understand how torturous it is every time I hear a heart beat to its death?" She held her head, trying to clear her mind of images of people whom she had killed.

"Rei, please. Promise me, this time let us leave them alone. They'll get the revenge soon, I know it. Can't we not do things like this for once?" She begged, her eyes pleading and smothering into his. Her emotions were so intense that Rei could almost feel it through the eyes she bore into his.

"Kylie…" Rei was tongue-tied. He didn't know how to answer her. In his world, it has always been revenge. Anyone who is evil, he had the right to let them vanish from the face of the world. He probably haven't even felt and saw the world Kylie has seen. If this was the case, what right does he have to even pretend that he understood her?

"Rei. We're not god. Who are we to play god? These so-called powers we have, it's a curse. I don't want to live with it forever. You don't know the consequences of overusing powers such as ours." She explained.

"True, we're not god. But probably, we were born with these powers to help the world. This is our destiny. There is no way we can escape destiny."

"Help the world? By killing? There are many ways to help the world, Rei. Revenge isn't just the only way."

"Kylie…" He scrunched his brows. Isn't this what they were made to do? To put it nicely, they were saving the world. But to say it in a harsh way, they were just killing machines and puppets whose strings are being pulled by Eden however they like. This is the sacrifice they paid to achieve their ultimate aims, be it to find someone, or to protect their family. They were never given a choice, like everyone else normal had.

"Don't. It's too hard for me, Rei, but I don't have a choice, do I? From when I started to become one of the code breakers, I understood what would happen. Its just… it seemed to be such a correct decision at that time, but now, when you have started to lose everything, you'll start to question if what you're doing is worth it." She whispered. She sucked in air as she closed her eyes. She hated herself for what she had to do. She blinked her tears and stepped away from Rei.

"Kylie, where are you going?" Rei furrowed his eyebrows. To him, Kylie was like a sister he never had. Seeing her acting like that, it struck a chord in his heart and he felt worried about her. He wished he could do something for her.

"I just need to calm down, Rei. I'm so sorry. Please don't come looking for me in the time being." She smiled weakly and walked off. In the middle of the streets, he stood there, watching the girl disappear from his sight. He sighed and decided that he should give her some space. Kylie is still young, he thought. Soon, she'll understand that what she has to do requires no pity at all. Rei was not unfeeling. He does feel care for those whom he cared. The others, if they were innocent, he probably only felt sympathetic and pity towards them, for taking granted of the temporary peace they were given. As for the evil, he felt that it was only right for them to vanish. That is what he lived to do.

He smiled ruefully and walked off. Now, it'll be better if Kylie wasn't around at the moment. While she takes a rest and get a grip on her emotions, he had someone else to deal with. The G-Falcons. This time, he'll do it alone, without the help of Kylie.
